Tutorial - Gold & Red
This tutorial is designed to show you how to create a warm gold and red eye shadow combination for your eyes. It’s bright, but deliciously perfect for summer as either a day time or an evening look.
Skill Level: Moderate
Eyes: Golden Lemon pigment (mixed with MAC’s water-based mixing medium as your base), Accent Red pigment (mixed with MAC’s water-based mixing medium as your base), Goldmine eyeshadow (true gold color), eyeshadow (semi-dark red with orange undertones), Passionate eyeshadow (matte deep pink), Rite of Spring eyeshadow (pink highlighter), Graphblack technakohl (black kohl liner), and black mascara.
Face: If you’d like to compliment the eyes, use Margin blush (darker coral) on apples of cheeks with Deep Refined Bronze to contour.
Lips: For matching lips, try Curtsy lipstick with Tartlette lipglass.
Start with a bare eye.
Apply Golden Lemon pigment to the inner lid and above the crease.
Pull the Golden Lemon pigment up and over your inner crease, just a tad.
This is what you should have.
Apply Accent Red pigment to outer lid.
This is what you should have.
Apply Goldmine eyeshadow to inner lid, covering the Golden Lemon pigment.
Using your brush, pull it up in the same manner as before, covering the inner crease.
This is what it should like at this point.
Apply Passionate eyeshadow to outer crease, covering the Accent Red pigment.
Using your brush, bring the color up into the outer crease.
This is what it should look like.
Using your brush, you want to blend the line between gold and red/pink so that it fades slightly.
Apply Rite of Spring eyeshadow all over your brow and above your crease.
Pull the shadow from the area directly underneath the innermost portion of your brow up and under your arch.
Pull the color down under the tail of your brow.
This is what you should have now.
Using a small, pointed brush like the 219, apply Goldmine eyeshadow to the lower lash line.
This is what you should have.
Apply Graphblack technakohl o lower lash line.
This is what it should look like. Apply mascara of choice and you’re finished.
This is the finished product.
hmm looks a little ronald mcdonald like to me….also kinda christmas-y
It could definitely be a holiday look!
Looks pretty! Does your e/s ever crease from your mixing medium?
Thanks, Eden! Nope, it never does 🙂 Mixing medium mixed with the pigments create a great base.
Sweet and romantic look. How do you mix the pigments and mixing medium? (how is the proportion?) I´m not used to using mixing medium because there is no here in my country so it will my next item to be bought in USA, just would like to know about blending both products powder loose plus mixing medium.
Hi Cristiane! You use a very, very, VERY tiny bit of mixing medium. I usually put a tiny droplet on my brush, run it across the back of my hand to make sure it’s just barely wet – definitely not sopping in the least, and then use pigment that’s stuck to the lid of the jar, picking it up with my brush.
haha. Ronald McDonald. Christine is giving us an idea of how we can achieve similar looks, you don’t have to use the exact colour as she’s done, she’s showing us the technique! way to go C!!
Thanks Anna! 🙂 I’m glad the tutorial is helpful!
What mascara do you use? Love your lashes!

Is this professional makeup….Where can I buy for reasonably price?????
This is makeup meant for consumers 🙂 There are some professional items available, but you will not find them in your local stores or the website really.
I’m so gonna use this for my friend’s wedding. I’m one of the bridesmaids and the colors fit perfectly with the redwine and gold theme. I already tried this one and it works for me. Thanks!
Awesome, Jenna!! I’m so glad it works for you!

Hey Zainy! I’m so glad your mom liked the look, it’s so great to hear how it works on others.
Thanks!
I’ll be using this for homecoming this year! 🙂
I was wondering what brand of makeup this was, though, so that way I could have it look pretty identical. 🙂
The things like, The pigments, the eyeshadow, mascara, eyeliner, etc. :3
