I’m curious about this palette. Considering that Guerlain shadows tend to be on the sheerer, more subtle side, I don’t know if Sephora is really the right place for the brand to sell it. I feel like department stores would align better with the type of demographic who is most likely to enjoy this type of eyeshadow.
I never thought of it that way (stores vs demographics) but you’re right, my mom would totally do something like this for the once a year she wears eye makeup (holiday parties) and she doesn’t shop at places like Sephora; she’s more comfortable in department stores (in her mid/late 60s).
I wonder if Sephora shouldn’t carry luxury brands. I went to a Sephora out of town that carried Tom Ford. The products look like they had been mauled. I was horrified and certainly would not swatch what was on display. It didn’t scream luxury to me. I thought about this again recently when visiting my local Sephora and seeing Lancome move to the fringes as they accommodate newer brands.
I, too, would prefer to buy Guerlain (and Tom Ford, Chanel, Charlotte Tilbury, etc.) at a dept store or at Shoppers (in Canada).
I agree, I think if Tom Ford actually walked a few Sephora’s, he’d be aghast at how slovenly they are! I don’t image Ford, La Mer, and Jo Malone lasting long at Sephora, I buy directly from him or Neimans. I might be tempted to buy something with the Rouge discount, but that would be about it for a Sephora purchase.
This is so beautiful, I’m sorely tempted! I just bought the two new 5-shadowed palettes from Natasha Denona and Pat McGrath’s Mothership Sublime. Now this Guerlain holiday palette is out! On top of that, Charlotte Tilbury’s Smokey Eye Beauty Instant Look is coming out exclusively at Beautylish tomorrow…I am getting eyeshadow palette overload, this is getting costly!!! Please do a review of the CT & G palettes soon!
Oh, this looks so pretty. Not especially unique or amazing and (at least for me) totally unnecessary, but they’ve made it look really pretty and elegant. The designs on the powders remind me of an India inspired collection from Clarins some years back – similar imprints.
I want this palette!
I realize that a lot if not all of Guerlain’s Holiday Line has been release in Sephora within the USA however nothing has hit the Canadian Stores. Does anyone know when the release will be for Canada???
Guerlain is a brand I only discovered this year and I have loved everything I tried. I have no experience with the eyeshadows though.
I wouldn’t bother Linda – the last few years, their eyeshadows have been awful and well and truly overpriced.
Oooh, that palette looks interesting! And for $ 80, not a bad deal for all those Guerlain products.
Nice, functional palette. But I already own neutrals aplenty at this point. Not for me, I don’t think.
Christine, will you review the palette?
Meteorites are always so lovely. I ordered mine this Saturday from Nordstrom…delivery tomorrow!
Gosh, this palette is beautiful but I am skeptical of the pigmentation. I hope you get this one to review!
I tend to think Meteorites and lipstick when I think of Guerlain holiday collection. Curious about how the palette swatches and scores.
This is just gorgeous, I hope it gets a good review, if so I’ll put on my Christmas wishlist.
This looks so pretty if pigmented enough?
Very pretty, very dupable, and probably a palette I’d use frequently. My only experience with Guerlain shadows wasn’t a good one – a palette of mattes with poor pigmentation and mediocre texture. Fingers crossed for a review of this one.
I only have one Guerlain e/s palette (one that they’ve foolishly discontinued) and it’s actually excellent. I know most of theirs aren’t – like a lot of Dior shadows, they’re pricey but disappointing – but I am so glad I got this one (I think it’s Les Fumes) a few years back.
I have the Les Gris palette that Christine reviewed years ago and it is stunning. Since then the brand’s eye shadows have gone downhill. Les Fumes was in the same range I think.
This looks really stunning. Guerlain’s eyeshadows haven’t been so hot lately, though.
I love that Sephora and now Ulta are starting to carry higher-end brands! More accurate photos, ingredient lists and reviews make it easier to shop online from them than online from dept. stores (such as Macy’s), specialty stores (Nordstrom, Neiman’s, Saks), or the line’s web site (w/striking imagery, no info and inaccurate colors). Nearly all the products I buy aren’t available w/o traveling 30 min. to San Francisco (Sephora’s US headquarters) and spending a day fighting downtown traffic, parking garages and packed crowds of shoppers. I use the local Sephora and Ulta to buy the few products I want they actually carry and to make occasional returns of online merch. that didn’t work. Where you live determines the best ways to shop.
The Guerlain is the first holiday 2017 palette that has got my interest.
I couldn’t resist, I caved and ordered it. My main concern with Guerlain is that their eyeshadow pigments are on the sheer side. I hope this palette is fully opaque because it can be used both wet and dry. Love the colors and packaging, will keep my fingers crossed!
So beautiful, but so expensive!! ? I really want to try this out in stores now.
Hi Christine, do you know if this palette gold will be available anywhere else besides Sephora, I saw that it’s already sold out at Sephora and now regret I didn’t jump on it right away?
Thank you in advance:)
People bought it off-line at Saks and it is available now online at Cos Bar, so definitely not an a Sephora exclusive.
I can’t find it available anywhere now…did they pull it??
So subtle, sophisticated and elegant – if these shades actually work. Some shades are meant to be a bit sheer, but that is no excuse for poor pigmentation. Let’s hope this lovely little gem is worth the money.
Looks like a beautiful palette. Most of the time there are one or two shades in a palette that make me decline the palette but this one-I think I could use every shade.
Luckily for my wallet, Sephora Canada doesn’t seem to have it.
OOooooooo!!!!! Look at Guerlain! Surprise! Wow, this needs to have a rotten rating because I really like this.
