Rescue Beauty Lounge Black Russian Nail Lacquer Review, Photos, Swatches

Rescue Beauty Lounge Black Russian Nail Lacquer

Rescue Beauty Lounge Black Russian Nail Lacquer ($18.00 for 0.40 fl. oz.) is described as “layers of ruby red flecks suspended in black polish.”  This shade was recently voted to be brought back, which is a very cool concept on its own. I originally reviewed this shade here but thought I’d check out the rereleased version for comparison.

It’s a brown-tinged black with ruby red sparkles. It never reads fully black in the color base, and I’ve always found the red sparkle to standout quite nicely. It’s opaque in two coats and wears extremely well–a full week with very minimal tip wear–with a proper base/top coat (of course!). It seemed to be the same in color and formula to the original bottle I have. Not too thick or thin so it gives good color coverage and flows well across the nail.

Looks lovely but China Glaze Lubu Heels looks dead on, so I think I’ll pass this one.

btw I’m a new reader of your website and must say, it may be the best one I have ever seen. Love the attention to detail and your constant dedication to bring us news from the beautiverse. :]

Very, very nice. I have a Wet ‘n’ Wild dupe for this called Glitterin’. It’s most likely discontinued because it was part of the Fantasy Makers collection from years ago but since Halloween is approaching they may bring it back.

My first thought when I saw this was how similar it is to Wet n Wild’s Behind Closed Doors, from their On The Prowl collection. The WnW is in a sheerer black base, but it has fine and large red hex glitter- which is stunning on. For the $17 price difference, I don’t think I’d mind putting on an extra coat of WnW!

I just bought this now that they rereleased it. I have to say I’m a little disappointed for the money I spent. The next morning after I applied it I was doing the dishes and I already had tip wear, and the polish on my index finger was starting to peel and lift! I had to redo 5 of my nails later that evening. That was just this past weekend, and now it’s only Tuesday and I have tip wear again on my right hand. I’m wondering if it’s the top coat I use (Sally Hanson). Also, to me the polish itself was hard to apply. The first coat looked very thin and streaky, so I had to make the second coat much thicker so that it would be opaque. Maybe I got a dud? I’m hoping the other 2 I bought don’t disappoint.

It might be the top and abse coat you’re using. when i splurged on butter london’s base and top coats, i can make any nail polish last way longer. i hope that works for you!

Hi Christine,

How come sometimes you don’t take a picture in bright light (close to a light or something)? I always look forward to seeing a nail polish in normal light and bright light. Thank you so much for such awesome swatches! 🙂

Thanks for the dupes guys! Eyeko’s Vampira and China Glaze’s Lubu Heels are amazingly similar! You guys just saved me from spending $18 on a polish! My boyfriend would have killed me! lol

Deborah Lippman has a nail polish called “Ruby Red Slippers” that reminds me of this, but it has some chunks of big glitter. It’s about the same price, but I got it from eBay for $12!

This is one of the most beautiful polishes ever. I’m glad to hear the re-release is a good as the original. China Glaze Lubu Heels is similar but not a dupe. Chanel Feu de Russie is also similar.
