Has your skin changed over time?

Has your skin changed over time? If so, how? For the better or worse?

Yep, definitely! I’ve gotten most of my acne under control, but I still get some. My skin is drier now than it used to be, though, which can be irritating at times.

Absolutely! I used to have horrible acne and oily skin, and when I was a kid my face was dry as a bone. Today it has normaled out. I have normal skin that doesn’t get too oily, but I still get blackheads on my nose and chin.

My skin is far less sensitive now. I can use brands and products I couldn’t before. Also a bit oiler. I have a slightly higher tendency to break out a bit now. I probably had only like 6 zits in all of high school, and now I almost always have one.

Yes, and for the better! I had acne and oily skin when I was a teenager. Most acne products from the drugstore made my skin worse. Now, it leans toward the “normal” to dry end of things. 🙂

Sad to say, yes… I can see a few expression lines under my eyes and around my lips – that’s a euphemism for wrinkles. Ah, goodbye my youth!

(I’ve been reading about fillers like crazy 😉 )

Yes! I struggled with acne in my teen years and tried every single product. I then used Paula’s Choice products, which I love. But ever since going on Accutane, my skin has been amazing; so smooth and clear and soft. It totally changed my skin so now I treat my skin rather than the pimples! Now, I use CeraVe PM and AM face moisturizers, PC 2% BHA liquid and toner, Olay foaming Face Wash (sensitive skin), and some acne gel just in case! I spend way less money since using Accutane.

I used to apply nothing but sunblock lotion. Hoever, over time, lines appealed more noticeable even I did use a moisteuriser at night and even eye serum from a high-end brand. But after I started using la mer,it’s a miracle as they claim. Say goodbye to lines 🙂

I have been using coconut oil, and it has changed my skin for the better. I no longer get any breakouts and my skin has this really gorgeous glow to it now.

As far as seasonal changes, my skin gets unbearably oily in the summer, but the moment the temperature drops below 70, my skin gets dry and flaky.. it doesn’t like to make up its mind. -_-‘

It has but I’m not sure how much of that is my skin actually changing or just me finding out what works for me. I struggled with acne all through my teens and twenties and my skin was oily and flakey at the same time. It got really bad in my early thirties and I spent a lot of time at the dermatologist trying to find something that works. I now use 2.5% benzoyl peroxide with precription Differin and I finally have good skin that rarely breaks out (in my early forties).

Yes, most definitely!
As a teen I had dry, excema prone skin which was awful. But rarely had any spots. Then suddenly I hit 19/20 and wham! A face full of spots which have got progressively worse as I have got older. My face has been awful this year since I quit smoking, but I’m finally starting to wrestle some control back after realising my skin had become oily again (it got oily in my early 20s then drier)and have adjusted my routine to suit this, which seems to be working.

Natalie Avatar

Definitely! I’ve never had bad acne or breakouts but I did have some and now they’re under control. However, controlling them has made my oily skin a lot more oily! But I’d rather use blot sheets and powder than be stressed over my broken-out skin!

yes, I use to have nice skin, colour was mostly even, and I used to deal with a little bit of acne, here and there, I’m 42, and my skin tone is uneven, some areas are dry, some are very oily, as always, but I find It’s a little bit worse, no more acne, and I have certainly more wrinkles in my forehead, ce la vie!!

Yvonne Avatar

Yes, unfortunately my skin has gotten worse. I have an acne problem now that I didn’t have in high school (I’m 23 now) I had acne then, but not this badly. I’ve been trying to get it under control but very few things work.

Yes! I didn’t have a huge problem with acne when I was a teenager. I would get maybe one pimple when it was that time of the month. In my twenties, I began to get 2 or 3 large painful ones every month. I didn’t know what to do because the problem seemed to come out of nowhere and it drove me crazy. I tried a lot of things that didn’t help and went to different dermatologists. Finally, my mom suggested I try Murad products, which definitely helped as did the pill. After all that, my skin is a lot more dry & sensitive than it used to be and I can only use gentle acne products. I also have to moisturize a lot.

You could say that! When I hit puberty I developed a really nasty sun allergy, and while I’m still very sensitive to the sun it got a lot better after the age of 20 (I’m 26 now). I think other “changes” in my skin, like dry/normal or occasional breakouts/no breakouts at all are all due to climate change and a different skincare, so I wouldn’t say that those were changes “in” my skin (if that makes sense).

Syrie Avatar

Not much. I’ve never had acne problems; however, I’m still oily as hell! Especially during the Summer. That’s when my skin is also very itchy so I will have little red bumps (not exactly rashes) all over. And people ask me why I don’t like Summer 🙁

Deb Avatar

I have definitely noticed a big change in the past few years. My skin has been getting much drier, and I don’t get many blackheads or pimples anymore. Every now and then, I get one or two pimples, so I’m very pleased about the change for now!

Zayda Avatar

YES! unfortunately, for the worse right now 🙁 I normally have combination skin with the occasional zit here and there…for some reason (getting off the pill I think) I started breaking out A LOT about a month ago and because of the benzol peroxyde and salicyc acid my face is now dry (which I HATE) and the acne is still there :'( I rather deals with oils than dryness- help!

Ashley Avatar

Well, my skin went from normal, acne-free at 14 (prior to tweezing, which was the catalyst to my acne) to oily, broken-out and irritated/red skin for a number of years. In the last year, I’ve gone from greasy and flaky skin with lots of build-up and moderate-to-severe acne to no acne at all (occasional pimple here and there does not count, especially since they seem to appear further and further apart in time!) with mild red marks and mild scarring. Although the red marks are all over my cheeks and were quite bad even just this past April when my acne was just mild. It is now mildly oily, but more in a glowy way than in a greasy way. It also seems less dehydrated, although flaking a tiny bit at the moment – probably still my skin adjusting to water-only.

The skin on my back… I have mild acne and mild-to-moderate red marks that won’t. go. away 🙁 Oh well. I think part of that is because I keep scratching at it, so I am now going to keep a hands-off/eyes-off approach to my back for the next few months and wear lots of jackets/sweaters. Then I’ll see if it improves as my chest, neck, and face did (all of which are now clear with the exception of minor clogs or pimples sometimes).

Cait Avatar

Sadly yes. All through high school I never had acne nor blemished but since I started university I have been developing oily skin and acne. I think it could be from the prolonged use of public transport and stress though. So hopefully once I graduate this clears up xP

Veronica Avatar

We have good skin in my family, so not especially, though I do notice I dry out easier in the winter months now. It just meant moisturizing more. However, I have natural dark circles under my eyes that have only been emphasized by age, insomnia, and the stress of hospital night shifts, so I’ve had to change my approach to conceal them.

Sophia Avatar

I went away for 5 weeks and I only wore make-up once that whole time. When I got back, my skin had completely cleared over time! There was no redness, no blemishes and no pimples at all. So yes, yes it has!
