Have you ever grown your eyebrows out?
Have you ever grown your eyebrows out? How was the process? How did you stay sane?
Yes, I did. A really good friend of mine was great at shaping to a point, but over time, my brows seemed to get thinner with each reshaping and eventually I decided to grow them back out. I tweezed stray hairs that I knew were not going to be part of any new shape–the ones that were just not even close to that “dream brow.”

I’m actually growing mine out right now so I can go back to my natural arch. The shape I have now is too bold for the fall/winter weather.
yes! I’m doing it right now! I don’t shave any part of my body (not my legs or armpits), but for some silly reason I kept on plucking my eyebrows. I’m letting them grow now. Have body hair makes me feel like an adult woman and now I have the eyebrows to match! haha! Feels good!
I did just recently, but plucked them, for the first time in a couple (if not a few) months, just under a week ago. It simply wasn’t working for me. That’d been the longest time I’ve committed to growing out my brows, but…they just never really work for me. Now, I want to bleach my eyebrows again (something I haven’t done since a couple months before the growing-out period, even), which seems to be a look only I enjoy.
I have because I have always plucked my eyebrows by myself and because of that my brows were shapless. I wanted to try threading and create a better shape so I grew them out for about 3 months (I know…looked horrible I could barely stand it!) But in the end it was worth it. Threading makes them look amazing…I’m so glad I did it.
I’m growing out my eyebrows right now!!! Its been a really slow process (since June and still not there). They don’t look too bad, I obviously pluck stray hairs but I’m being patient to get my dream eyebrows =) I envy people with beautiful brows!
YES!! I’m in the process of growing them back out right now. Somewhere around the beginning of the year, I got too tweezer-happy with my right eyebrow. It looked stumpy and was uneven in shape & size with its left counterpart. Plus, I’ve got those dark-colored, but sparse Asian eyebrows, so I fill them in (drastic difference with MAC’s Lingering). It’s grown back because hair grows back pretty quickly for me and I’m young. It really is difficult to resist tweezing!
I had my eyebrows tweezed when I was 14 years old because the beautician thought they were too thick. To to this day 30 plus years later, I regretted it so. My brows should have been trimmed to a shorter length and tweeze only some. My brows now are not pencil thin. They are just not lush like Christine’s. I think she has very pretty brows. Where it grows back is very sparse and adding brow color to it makes it look really fake. Maybe I will try those brow gel to help with the growth. But I really wish no one touch my brows.
Hm, I used to have really bushy, unshaped eyebrows if that counts. xD
But after I shaped them myself, and receiving many compliments, and of course being personally satisfied with the outcome, I’ve never looked back and never EVER will. Plus my eyebrows right now aren’t too thin to being with, as I don’t pluck inside of the designated area/boundary.
Um . . . what brows? I have maybe three errant brows on each brow bone that require plucking. Otherwise, I have to use eye shadow to skillfully fill mine in. I’d give anything for bushy brows to shape.
Same thing with my legs — three hairs on each calf that I can pluck once a week. No visible forearm hair either. I’m like one of those Chinese Crested dogs. LOL It used to make me mad as a teen when all my girlfriends were shaving their legs. Now I love it!
I experimented very early in high school with plucking and shaping my eyebrows but never found a shape I liked. Now I don’t do anything to my eyebrows except for filling them in with eyeshadow to look bolder for certain looks.
They could probably be cleaned up a bit but I honestly love how my brows naturally look. *Is blessed to have missed the caterpillar brows my cousins got*
I have been trying to grow mine out for over a year.
*sigh*
I don’t even think RapidLash (going on 6 months now) is doing much. I don’t want to stop though… just in case.
🙁
I don’t touch my eyebrows at all. I have a naturally great arch, and I like when they’re thicker and bolder. Whenever I do wax my eyebrows, they look weirdly way-too-perfect and it looks REALLY bad.
Do you have any tips for encouraging eyebrow hair regrowth?
I grow out my brows in between getting my brows waxed. Usually every 3 months or so. And every time, I hate it because without filling them in with a pencil, they look so bad. There’s rarely a shape because the hairs are too long. When I was an tween, I decided to give myself a paper-thin brow, and I’ve been trying to grow them out as full as possible.
no – I was never into super thin eyebrows anyway, so I’ve only ever been tweezing away strays.
i do it every three months, im doing it right now, becsuse i dont want it as thin as before. it looks really bushy right now 🙂
At one point in my 20’s I had no eyebrows! They were shaved off completely. I would pencil them in. It took a few months and alot of courage to finally grow them out after about five years or so. I just had patience and only tweezed the hairs that looked really out of place. I also learned one of the reasons I was frustrated with my brows in the first place was because when I would groom them I would brush up and out. Now I go with my natural shape and I brush sort of down and out.
I’m trying to do that now. I must have patience and try not to pluck the whole thing out!
I have a few times, due to my over-plucking.
My tip would be to have bangs, if at all possible, while growing out your brows. Bangs will help disguise messy looking bangs.
I have learned it’s best to leave my brows to the professionals, and now I get them waxed every three weeks. Don’t leave it too long in between appointments, otherwise you might be tempted to make your own adjustments!
Yeah, during the whole ‘big brow’ trend of Fall 2010, I grew my brows out to their natural shape. I actually got a lot more compliments about my eyes when I did, and just as many guys were interested in me. Point is: big brows are just as attractive as thin brows. Like that dame from “Dark City.”
my eyebrows are always grown out.
I’m in the process of growing mine out after a horrendous threading experience. She threaded my brows horribly! They were incredibly thin and uneven. It’s been a month, and there are still hairs that haven’t come through yet. It’s been quite upsetting to leave them looking so awful, but I’m keeping away from the tweezers in hope for a beautiful shape in future.
I’m hoping to go to a Benefit Brow Bar to get their arch – does anybody have any experience with them? Especially in the UK? 🙂
The worst brow job I ever got was at the Benefit Bar. Not in the UK though. It was what convinced me to do my own. In all fairness I suspect the girl was new and I had them tweezed not waxed. Unfortunately in the last few years my skin doesn’t seem to tolerate waxing.
I also had a bad experience at the Benefit brow bar. I dont feel she did a good job on mine. I dont think its worth the price. I spent 20 USD and I wasnt totally thrilled with mine
Thank you MJ and Jazz. I’m not sure what to do now!
Hah, I have a lame story for this question.
Back when I first started middle school, all the girls made fun of my brows, because they all had neat, threaded eyebrows. So by 7th grade, I had taken a tiny scissors and cut all the stray hairs. By the time I got to high school, I had some really thin brows. I became brave enough to use tweezers. By the time I started college, I had brows that barely had an end (it would go up to the arch, but not come back from there). But for a class assignment, I went to search for a picture of my mom. I found a picture of her when she was my around my age, and I was shocked to see how we looked exactly the same. Then I noticed her brows, and it suddenly hit me that I had messed up my eyebrows all of these years just because the girls in middle school would never leave me alone. So I let my eyebrows grow out earlier this year, and now they are fuller and frame my round face better than ever. I’m glad I’ve found the light. o_o
I’m growing mine out so that they are back to my natural shape/thickness. My hope is to be able to only tweeze strays between the brows and any super obvious ones if I feel like it, but I want them as low-maintenance as possible. I have some bald patches, though. Oh well. My right brow is looking pretty good actually, my left is a bit weird.
No, if I did my eyebrows would take over my face…
Well… Yeah. I grew them out after I shaved them off (The growing-out process of this is kind of annoying; if you draw them on smaller or another shape than they naturally are, you will see stubbles around that shape, but if you don’t draw anything on, it really doesn’t look good… Luckily I drew them on really thick and dark in the beginning and really enjoyed that look, but later on when they were pretty much grown out but all sparse and short they still looked bad when I grew them out like that)
Anyway. I’ve also had only half eyebrows (which I have now too), and let those grow out too. Sometimes I just don’t do anything about my eyebrows, although they have a really ugly shape when I don’t.
Currently their short, thin and pointed, Visual-Kei inspired. ~
They still looked bad when I didn’t DRAW THEM ON like that*
I don’t even understand the question. I like never shape my eybrows because I really like its natural shape and only tweez in the middle (because I actually have a unibrow.. argh) and some hair that clearly is too far out. Like, it never occured to me that people have to “grow out” their eyebrows.
Same here 🙂 I have never done anything to them at all, except occasionally pluck in the middle. Funny thing is, everyone complements my thick eyebrows yet they keep plucking theirs. Im 22 now and I have yet to pluck my eyebrows for the first time. If you like the way they look, keep them that way! dont fix what aint broke 🙂
mine are finally grown all the way out after about a year of waiting! i still fill them in though, because i love dark brows.
I’ve never really had to. I’ve always kept my brows fairly natural and thick.
I’m growing them out now. I still pluck, but just the stray hair here and there. I’m blessed to have pretty good brows, not much arch, but they’re relatively easy to deal with.
I dyed my hair about two years ago(from dark brown to blonde) and thought it would be a great idea to pluck my eyebrows super thin and have let them grow out a little bit but kept them thin but now I’m resisting the urge to pluck and going to see the beauty girl at my salon. Hopefully be in better shape come winter 😀
I’m actually also growing out my brows right now and boy is it frustrating. I have really dark and thick brows and always tried to keep some thickness to them. Recently though my brows just weren’t looking ‘right’ and then I realised I’d slowly overplucked.
I agree with the person who said that getting a fringe/bangs are the way to go!! Long and straight or sideswept, I dont care. I have one brow which looks good but the other side looks hideous and my sideswept bangs luckily cover it all up.
Just like Christine, I’m also plucking only the stray hairs which don’t belong in my ‘dream brow’ lol. Also because it’s just so darn hard not to touch them, it’s like a habit of mine to tweeze a stray hair every day or as soon as one pops up.
I just can’t wait for the whole proces to be done and over with.
4 days. That’s all it takes for my eyebrows to become unsightly. I’ll still have the arch but below the arch will be pretty full. It’s good, in that if I make a mistake in cleaning them up, I don’t have to wait for long to grown them back. But it’s a real pain to constantly have to groom my eyebrows. I know a lot of people don’t include such a step in their daily makeup application, but I do 🙁
Yes!! I’ve been growing mine out for the past 12 years. When I was a teenager I plucked myself bald for 3 or 4 years so I could look like Ziggy Stardust. Google it, guys if you don’t know who that is. When I decided to let them come back, they never did come all the way back. So now, I have to draw them on everyday.
If only I had known.
I have. This girl I knew who had beautiful brows offered to pluck mine for me a few years ago…turns out she didn’t actually do her own brows! It was a total disaster!
I only had my brows waxed twice I think and that was back in my 30’s. I never had a very full brow. But full enough not to have to fill it in. I just leave them alone and every once in a while I will tweeze one that grows in between my brows but it’s the only one.
I absolutely love the natural full brow look that is hot right now so I’m growing mine. I’ve been a faithful tweezer for 16 yrs so growth is super slow right now. Hopefully my patience lasts! I’m trying castor oil…we shall see : )
I’m in the same boat as you, Cheryl!
How is the castor oil working so far?
I grow mine out all the time. They aren’t naturally too bad, so I don’t mind. I also feel like every time I get them threaded they get thinner so I grow them out practically every 2 months.
Prior to a year ago, I did very little to my brows. Then last fall, I started going to the brow bar at Ulta but shelling out $25 plus tip every 3 weeks had to stop so I’ve been keeping them up myself and they’ve become too thin for my liking. So, I am contemplating growing them back out because I love the way the women’s eyebrows’ look in Francois Nar’s Book “Makeup Your Mind: Expresss Yourself.” I have thick brows so that shouldn’t be a problem. 🙂 Can’t wait ’til they do!
I usually grow mine out in between wax /thread jobs. The last time I got them done, I wasnt happy. So I grew them out to make sure my arches are closer to being even. By this weekend I will no longer have chinchilla brows
Yes, I always do.
I really dislike getting my eyebrows done because it ruins my eye makeup. So i just tweeze stray hairs and use wax strips sometimes.Whenever I get my eyebrows done, it’s way too thin for my liking even though I told the lady not to. I like full brows !
i’m trying now…i want them to be longer at the sides rather than very thick…but i dunno if it’s possible
i wish i could grow mine out a bit more. my eyebrows are thin and sparse, particularly around the outer edges. i pluck stray hairs but that is it.
My eyebrows are rather expansive, one time I butchered them and it was terrible. I keep them mostly grown out now, I just pluck in between them/trim the hairs.
I am doing this right now, it’s so hard because I have a lot of stray hairs below the brows! But I want to get them done by a professional and if I spend the money on that, why not give them something to work on? 😉
Yup! I had to after I wrecked them as a young teen. I just turned 23 and thank heavens I let them grow in, because now they’re nice and full. A lot of salons I go to want to make them super thin but I refuse!
