- Haul: Pat McGrath eyeshadow palettes (though they’re not here yet – they have yet to even ship, so who knows when they’ll be here!)
- Weekend plans: More photographing/swatching/writing reviews – I think I am almost keeping up with the barrage of holiday releases. It’s becoming glaringly obvious that I did a decent job reviewing individual products this year as so many have made appearances in sets, haha!
- What album (music) have you been enjoying?: Demi Lovato “tell Me You Love Me” and Kesha “Rainbow.”

Haul: Does a rug count? I got a big rug for my family room. I was going to go to nordies trend event but now that I bought the rug, I think I need to not spend money.
Weekend: My husband has a 4 day so he wanted to drink last night. I’m pretty good at holding my booze but two glasses of wine and three fingers of bourbon were a bit much. I didn’t realize how dehydrated I was until the bourbon. Luckily big glass of coconut water solved that. Hubby made croissants and coffee for breakfast. I ate between work calls. I have to ferry my sis around after work for some appointments, then tomorrow will be shopping for food. Sunday my hubby invited work folks over for dinner and firepit time. I’m hoping to sneak some time in for a sheet mask and a bath.
Music: I’ve been crazy busy but try to remember to put on music while cleaning. I’ve been hearing a lot of Massive Attack on my current pandora channel and it always helps make me feel more chill. Car time has mostly been classic rock. I’ve also been listening to While My Guitar Gently Weeps cover by TP and friends since he passed quite frequently.
Rugs are SOOO hard to choose!! Hope you’re enjoying the new rug, Erin!
Rugs are tough. This isn’t my first choice for a pattern but it was barely used and a very expensive and well made Pottery Barn rug for $100. It was like $1.2k new. The pets are loving it. As in like, won’t move off of it. Anyone who wants to see it can on my Instagram. My mother seemed to think the cat video was Emmy award winning comedy but it’s not that funny to me :/
“While My Guitar Gently Weeps” here, too Erin. That bunch are so infinitely talented, and I tear up realizing that 2 are gone far, far too soon. Big-time Tom Petty and Prince fan for life. ?
Me too! It’s the first time I’ve been able to listen to or watch Prince. I’m not sure I can handle Bowie yet.
Sometimes I think we are sister’s from another mother, Nancy. I hadn’t read any comments when I posted my answer and spoke of Prince in my answer and now I see that you are a fan also. I still struggle with realizing he is gone and now Tom. So sad. I saw Prince live when I lived in Sacramento and always thought I would see him again but just didn’t get around to it and now I never will. What an incredible music genius. I have to admit that the first time I heard “Little Red Corvette” I loved it instantly and didn’t know what it was about. I wasn’t that young and should have gotten it. I still get embarrassed that I didn’t get it. It wasn’t until I actually saw the MTV video and actually watched him while he sang the words that I realized what he was saying. I read comments on articles written about him and some of them are really disparaging and “can’t understand what women see in him”. I could tell them. I don’t understand why they don’t see it!! The man oozed with charisma, sexuality, music, genius.
How are you travelling Erin? Are you planning a BBQ for your husband’s work friends?
Enjoy your bath and sheet mask.
Haul: Only Coloured Raine Kiss Me so far as come in this week.
But late last week I got Huda Dessert Dusk and a Huda Strobe.
Weekend plans: Going to see an art exhibit tonight and get my hair cut tomorrow. Other than that plans are fluid.
What album (music) have you been enjoying?: I love a lot of music, but don’t typically listen to specific albums. But I love musicals. If I am in a certain mood I tend to go to Hamilton, and more specifically the second half.
Haul: a bunch of Moleskin journals! 75% off ftw at BN
Weekend plans: Visiting the bestie! So excited
What album (music) have you been enjoying?: I usually listen to alternative rock radio or BSB lol
Haul: Yesterday my Julep box arrived (new konjac body sponge and nail top coat, plus an awesome green glitter polish), and I’m waiting for two Season of the Witch lip tars from OCC to arrive.
Weekend plans: Might go do a tasting at the local gin distillery, probably some errands and chores, and I’m working on my costume for next weekend’s belly dance performance (one of the lip tars is for that too).
I keep my music on shuffle so I can’t really say there’s any one album that I’m really into right now. Song-wise, Caravan Palace’s “Midnight” is part of next weekend’s performance and I’m not sick of it yet.
Aaaagh, I wanted so bad to do an OCC haul, but I know I wouldn’t reach for it often enough to justify right now. That teal tho!!!! Haha. Quicksilver was also on my radar. What did you end up getting? Anything from the permanent line to round it out?
LOL! The teal one (Abyss) and Quicksilver are exactly what I ordered! Nothing from the permanent line this time around, but I do have a few colors already — Rime, Technopagan, and one or two others I can’t remember the names of. Plus some of the old school ones in the squeezy bottles which probably aren’t any good anymore, LOL.
I wish Sephora hadn’t stopped carrying them, it’d be a lot easier to justify buying them if I could get free Flash shipping and VIB points, but I think the old packaging was too much of a turn-off for customers. I wonder if Ulta will pick them up at some point?
Haul: The Sephora Week of Wow sales for Canadain were different than the US I got these shade even if the ones I really wanted sold out quickly while they were in my basket.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick Allison & Sugar Plum $16CAN each
MAKE UP FOR EVER Artist Rouge Lipstick $15CAN each in: M103, M200, M205, M206, M500, M501, C105, C108, C209, C210, C303, C305, C306, C603 I,
Urban Decay Troublemaker Mascara trial size X2
Weekend plans: Canadian Thanks Giving.
What album (music) have you been enjoying?: I’m the worst even i come to music. I just listen to the radio
I was SO happy to see that the Artist Rouge lipsticks were on sale THIS week at least!
Yeah, I’m glad to have more than 40% as well as that’s the deal with IMATS and I didn’t get any this year. lol
No Week of Wow deals on the Candain site this week though. 😉 Glad I scored this week a little bit.
Haul: Benefit Goofproof brow pencil and Benefit High Brow pencil – am enjoying how simple and effective both products are 😀
Weekend Plans: going to see a play on Sunday and gonna go see Blade Runner 2049 tomorrow night
What album (music) have you been enjoying?: Gosh, it’s been a while since I’ve really enjoyed an album…from this year I liked a few songs from Paramore’s After Laughter and Ed Sheeran’s Divide album.
Yeah for getting the Pat McGrath palettes, too looking forward to your review. You’re dog looks like it likes whoever is filming, and I assume that’s you. 😉
Haha, yes, always me behind the lens!
Oh my gosh, it’s been a busy hauling week for me. Yesterday, I bought the UD Moondust palette from the Sephora Weekly WOW, then Dream Castle and Ponyland glosses from the CP MLP release, and of course I couldn’t pay for shipping so had to add the $aucey Palette, plus Snake Eyes and Liar, Liar singles, and a small palette from them. I have yet to try their powder shadows, and your reviews have been so helpful for pointing me toward the hits and avoiding the misses. (Yes, I know Ponyland did not get the best rating, but it calls to me, so.) I also ordered from DSW some embroidered ankle boots, and from other various retailers a pair of jeans, 2 pairs of cords, a skirt, and 3 shirts. I may be in some trouble when my husband starts wondering where all this new stuff came from, but I’m really liking what I’m seeing lately. And sales. I’ve gotten better at resisting all the promotional emails, but it’s been a while since I’ve refreshed my wardrobe, and I fell prey to the x% off thing.
This weekend, going wine tasting with my girlfriends from college on the east end of Long Island. We go once a year, meeting up from all over the northeast, and it’s always a good time.
And I’ve been listening to Tom Waits Closing Time, as well as watching YouTube piano tutorials for Ol’55 and I Hope That I Don’t Fall In Love With You from that album (which is truly wonderful from first to last note). My son is learning piano and I sit with him while he practices. Sometimes, I make up my mind to learn something too. I took lessons as a kid, but haven’t played as an adult. I don’t have the dedication to stick to weekly lessons and daily practice, but I’ve set myself a goal to learn Ol’ 55 before the end of the year.
Happy weekend everyone!
I was so excited to see Moondust in the Weekly Wow! I bought mine early thinking it would sell out pretty quickly, I’m actually surprised it’s still available.
Haul: I am in search of a new shampoo so I ordered some trial sizes from Ulta. A Living Proof Restore set of shampoo, conditioner, leave in conditioner and mask, Pureology Hydrate shampoo and conditioner, and OGX Renewing + Argan Oil of Morocco shampoo. I ordered the conditioner also but they sent two shampoos by mistake. I also got a new version of Simple Micellar water for dehydrated dry skin and a small e.l.f blending brush.
From the drugstore, two bottles of Garner micellar water. I had a coupon and there was a BOGO 50% off. I have not noticed any difference in the various micellar waters, other than fragrance. Drugstore is as good as Bioderma, as far as I can tell.
Week-end plans: I have to color my hair. And I bought an Instant Pot and am going to try it out. Chicken for my husband and bone broth for the kitties.
Lately I have just been turning the radio on to the local classical music station. I am a child of the 60’s so if I put on an album, it will be something from that era, most likely The Beatles. I just can’t seem to move on.
Hi Lesley!I love Living Proof especially the Restore line.I actually just ordered a 100 point Sephora sample of the Restore Perfecting Spray which I have not tried I think it’s newer.I have been using the brand since they sold it at Cosmo Prof because I have a cosmetology license.I stocked up when they had everything on clearance and I am just now running out of the Frizz line liters.Jennifer Aniston became a co-owner of the brand and it isn’t sold at the beauty supply store anymore? Then in 2016 Unilever bought the brand and they own it now.I hate how pricey it is especially since I used to get the wholesale price but I still buy it from Ulta and Sephora but only when it’s 20% off, lol! An MIT professor co-founded the brand originally and there is a ton of science that backs the product formulations.I think you’ll enjoy it.I use their styling products also and I haven’t tried a product from them that I didn’t like.
The Garnier Micellar is a also a favorite of mine all 3 varieties are awesome and don’t irritate my eyes! Its something I have bought repeatedly.
Thank you for all this. I used to use the Living Proof Frizz line but after I cut my hair, I didn’t have much of a frizz problem. I tried the Great Hair Day shampoo but found it too drying with all the coloring I do. I am looking forward to trying the Restore line. I am actually not having bad results with L’Oreal from the drugstore but I really dislike the smell.
HAUL: Urban Decay eye shadows in ABC Gum and Smokeout. Makes a quick, no fuss smokey eye for day or night.
WEEKEND: pumpkin picking, usual autumn outings!
I’m not much of a full-album listener but I liked the latest from Haim.
I did 2 orders that did not come yet, and truthfully, recall zero, except the gingerbread tf lip. I had 15 seconds that changed my life forever, and not for the better. I left Patticake, my new rescue dachshund, asleep on the couch for 15 seconds to get the leash. Heard the thud. She had become entangled in a jersey sheet and fallen. With a 17 inch topline, there were bound to be back issues, so she is lifted up and down. Not to say that Jussi does not push her off, or she jumps independently, when I am not home. But she cannot ascend, she’s only been walking on a leash fairly well for a few months. Got her on St. Pat’s and after 7 years in a crate being bred, only had 6 months of life in the real world, before injury. I won’t get into the pressureful finance, but will say I had to withdrawn over 10,000USD from my retirement account. That’s a hefty hunk of change that I can ill afford. But, anything for the girl. She probably has a herniated or ruptured disc, and is resting comfortably (and expensively) on fentanyl. I am going to pay more today after work, and am awaiting the funds. Natch, they won’t do anything without 3K deposit on an mri, and it’s a holiday w/e here in Mass. So, please send your prayers for Miss Patticake, who really did not deserve this horrorshow. If I can figure out how to post on the pets group, I will. She is all the kennel nurse’s favorite. Starting to cry. Gotta go. The takeaway, as they taught me in business school, that I did not attend to, is that you MUST have a store of FUCK YOU money. That is, money to bail you out of bad eventualities, so you can quit the sucky job with a cushion, etc. Listen, young ‘uns. You don’t want to wind up like me. Please send all your good thought beams and prayers to my beloved girl.
kjh, that is a very difficult sh*t storm. I am so sorry for everyone’s pain — physical, emotional, and financial. It’s a lot.
Good thought beam zapping directly to you and Miss Patticake, k.
Oh, kjh, I am so sorry to heart about Patticake’s injury! Hoping she has a speedy recovery and that you are both feeling better soon. <3
Oh no, poor Pattycake! Sending my thoughts and love your way for your injured baby?
Poor Patticake! My thoughts and prayers are being sent up in hers and your behalf. Scary, but true; we ALL should put aside funds for these type of unforseen circumstances. I’m guilty of not doing so, and therefore, definitely understand. May Patticake’s recovery be swifter and less expensive than expected!
kjh, I hope with all my heart that Miss Patticake will recover soon! Sending lots of good thoughts to your beloved girl!
Oh no! Poor Miss Patticake. I will send good thoughts to both of you. I hope she is comfortable and pain free on her Fentanyl.
KJH, I’m so very sorry this has happened. You’ll both be in my prayers.
I hope you and your poor doggie recover after her recent trauma.
Mellan and I are holding Miss Patticake in our thoughts! Please keep us posted.
kjh prayers coming for your precious Patticake!I just recently spent a large sum of money on my cat Leah’s surgery. She had a sudden and unexpected diagnosis of Pyometra.I know how stressful it can be worrying about our beloved pets.Healing vibes and lots of lovely be coming your way!!
Kjh, I’m so sorry! Sending virtual hugs, and real love and prayers. I hope Patti will pull through all right.
I am so sorry to hear about Patti. Seven years in a crate??? I have a cat that was rescued from a breeder but fortunately she was only about 18 months old and in pretty good shape other than an ear infection.
I worked in the financial services industry for years and the advice they give about prioritizing retirement is somewhat self-serving. Of course we need to save for retirement, but it is more important to set up your emergency fund first and keep it in something very liquid. That’s not very profitable for for the financial services industry.
Oh no! I’m so sorry to hear about Patticakes 🙁 Hoping she gets better soon. Keep us posted kjh
Haul:My Pat McGrath eyeshadow palettes aren’t here yet either!I ordered the set of 3 for my birthday and I was just talking to other girls on Trendmood1 on Instagram today and it seems no one has received them yet.I ordered the Jeffree Star Nudes Volume 1 Mini Liquid Velour Lipstick from Beautylish because I thought it was a good way to try the shades without having to use up all those liquid lips in a full size and the only other shades I have of his formula are the Summer 16 shades.ABH Prism palette.Sigma Creme de Couture it hasn’t arrived yet either! Weekend Plans: It is our busy season for mums and pumpkins.I have a small business Sherwood Nursery and Greenhouse. We grow plants and sell wholesale and retail so I never get the weekend off during September or October we get a small break the first 2 weeks of November then it’s on to Christmas trees which people start purchasing from us right before Thanksgiving.Im going to try to go to a haunted house on Saturday night because the weather here in Pittsburgh,PA is unseasonably warm and it’s going to be 83 degrees tomorrow. Album: I’ve been listening to: Meek Mill Wins And Losses and Kodak Black Project Baby 2
PMG took a really long time to ship my last order, too, but I definitely would have held off to get ’em at Sephora if I knew they would be taking this long!
That is what I was thinking also!I got the email stating they should be here by tomorrow night!
That’s a haul to anticipate!!
Yeah I did some birthday damage, lol!!With all these holiday releases so early it’s hard to resist the really good ones.
?That video up above of Mellan and you is sooo precious! Yes, he is such a good boy! ?
Haul: Fenty Metal Moon Highlighter, Chili Mango Matchstix (deliciously gorgeous!) from Sephora. A decent ColourPop haulage, too: Bits & Pieces bronzer, Cherries Jubilee SSS, Dream Castle and the lavender Ponyland, pressed eyeshadows in Dragonfly, Glass Bull, Now And Zen, and Facet. But I forgot to get a magnetic empty palette! ?
Weekend plans: Today will be spent doing my hair and nails, as tomorrow my Congregation will be attending our Annual Meeting in Casa Grande Assembly Hall. Getting up at 5 a.m.!
What album (music) have you been enjoying lately? Oooh, I’m so scattered over various artists and bands, that it’s hard to narrow it down succinctly! But definitely Kesha’s “Praying”, Depeche Mode “Cover Me” (plus a bunch of their older hits), Taylor Swift’s “Ready For It”, lots and lots of 80’s and 90’s stuff, too.
Wow – 5 am is an early start! Enjoy the Annual Meeting.
Have a good Meeting, Nancy! I can send you an empty CP palette. I think I still have your addy. If not, I’ll get it from you on FB.
Haul: Also picked up all the Pat McGrath eyeshadow palettes and four of the permagel liners.
The shadows are like some of the previous Pat McGrath stuff in that it has the drier texture of her pressed pigments. They are gorgeous, though. I still have to play around with them more, but quite a few of them are glitter bombs (but that’s great for me). The liners also each come with a sharpener.
Weekend Plans: Two weddings in one weekend, and they aren’t that close to one another, so… that will be a trek.
Album: Recently got turned on to Lizzo’s EP “Coconut Oil.” Really fun vibe.
Haul: Nothing yet
Weekend plan: spending time putting observations in a computer program for work
Album: Listening to a best of Pearl Jam non stop
Awww, my dog knows “back up,” too! But she get very whiny if she’s not immediately rewarded with a treat when she performs, lol.
Haul: Cover FX Perfect Highlighting Palette (6-pan) – just received it today and it is FABULOUS. I am in love – the formula is like the original Anastasia 4-pan glow kits, soft and finely milled, and the pigmentation is awesome. I can see it being the #1 Holiday 2017 item for me. That I got it for 25% off during the CFX sale is just the cherry on top! Also picked up the UD Moondust palette from Sephora while it’s 50% off, but I won’t get that ’til Monday.
Weekend plans: Work work work, then work more, and probably work a little more. My boss is out of town for a few weeks and I am having an exceptionally busy time in addition to covering a few things for him. No loss I guess – I had no plans and it’s going to be a rainy weekend anyway. And fortunately it’s just work-from-home stuff.
What album (music) have you been enjoying?: I stay tuned to Alt-Nation on XM 95% of the time, lately I have been particularly enjoying Sylvan Esso and alt-J.
I hope you get a little bit of down time this weekend Julia, it sounds like a really busy time for you.
Julia,I’ve been going back and forth on ordering the Cover FX Highlighting Palette and you sold me on it.Im ordering it tonight from Ulta!
Hope you love it! Just a heads up, if you order it directly from Cover FX they do still have the 25% off + free shipping offer going.
I actually waited and I’m going to order through Cover FX like you suggested‼️Thanks for the reminder I completely forgot they were doing friends and family right now.
Haul: I bought the new KVD Everlasting Liquid Lipstick Mini Set (and gave away a couple of the darkest colors to friends) and UD All Nighter Setting Spray to replace the bottle that just ran out. Plus I got a bunch of free sample perfumes from Sephora: KVD Saint & Sinner, Armani Sí, YSL Black Opium Nuit Blanche, Mon Guerlain, Armani Acqua di Gio, Lancome La Vie Est Belle, Marc Jacobs Divine Decadence, YSL Mon Paris, Hermes Un Jardin Sur le Nil, and Tom Ford Black Orchid. There was also a sample of Armani Lip Maestro in the shade 400.
Weekend plans: Not much, really. Laundry, groceries, etc.
What music have you been enjoying: A 1990s mix CD that I made back then, plus some classical and an album by Rebekah Del Rio
I forgot to mention how cute the Mellan photo is!! Looks like he’s either stretching or getting into the “play” position.
Haul: I’m planning on ordering 5 MUFE Artist shadows I’v always wanted, tonight!!!
Weekend plans: I came back from my trip this past monday, and from being on an airplane in the span of 4 days, i’m super sick now. 🙁 I can’t breath through my nose, and I’m on inhalers!!!! So I had to cancel with my grandmother, and I’ll be spending this weekend in bed!
What albums have I been enjoying: Paramore Riot! … again!! ahaha!!
Hi Shannon. Curious, which 5 MUFE shadows are you getting? This is one of my favorite formulas.
That’s the thing with travelling on planes with different time zones and working hard, you come back quite sick. Rest up Shannon and I find those saline nose sprays really good for unblocking my nose.
Hey Genevieve!!! You are 100% right!!! last weekend, I flew up north for work, and I only had 3 out of 9 members of my team there, so I was running around like bananas!!!
Today was my first day out of bed in days!! So I’m on the mend!!! 😀
I’ll remember that, for when i send my brother out for supplied later, thank you!!!
That’s one obedient dog!
Haul: Kat Von D studded kiss lipsticks in Adora, Thin Lizzy, Mercy, and Wolvesmouth. I was going out of my comfort zone with these, but they all work for fall/winter and the holidays. I did pick up a couple of Artist Rouge lipsticks too C108, C211 when they were on sale. Temptalia did help me to decide which ones to go with. It is one of the reasons why I like it and visit often. I am also curious about the Pat McGrath palettes.
Weekend Plans: What they should be is organizing my armoire as it is now rather cramped, cleaning, and other chores. What I would like to do is go see Blade Runner: 2049 as well as maybe go apple picking. I’ll settle for rewatching Blade Runner. If I get a combination of need/want things to do done it will be a good weekend.
Music: I had a song from back in the day stuck in my head this morning. It was from Deftones “White Pony”. It’s like going back to my adolescence. I listened to more of the harder rock then. Some of the songs still move me.
Haul: Juvia’s Place Masquerade Mini eyeshadow palette. I’ve been wanting this for months. They had a good sale so I grabbed it quickly!
Weekend plans: clean up the house a bit. Pretty quiet weekend around here.
What album (music) have you been enjoying?: my Meredith Andrews station on Pandora. Takes me back to really happy times a few years ago 🙂 I love a lot of her older music.
Haul (shopping my stash): I have been so much enjoying my NARS Hardwired shadow in Outer Limits that I started playing with Lunar. Both of these were an impulse purchase last November and they regrettably sat unused for the past 9-10 months. They are both just as lovely as I thought they would be when I bought them. Here is the look I created with Lunar this week: https://instagram.com/p/BZ3cWnthuHv/
I have continued to love the heck out of the Buxom lip liners I got in Restricted and Covert Affair during Ulta’s 21 Days of Beauty. I think what I like is they are thick and I can wear them as an all over lip color as well as change them up with different lipsticks and glosses. Today I am wearing Covert Affair with BareMinerals gloss in Heartbreaker, which is like mixing rust with plum, but the result is so pretty!
I picked up my right color in LANCOME Teint Idole Ultra ((Bisque 360 Warm) and wore it for one day before immediately returning to Urban Decay’s Naked foundation in 5.0. This Urban Decay foundation really has a hold on me right now, and it’s so unexpected.
I watch/see many looks on instagram and I was intrigued by some of the looks I saw coming out from the Morphe Jaclyn Hill Palette. I decided to buy it, knowing if I hated it I could pass it to my granddaughter. I have played with the palette and created two looks so far. This palette is better than any drugstore eyeshadows I’ve ever tried, and the shadows can hold their own with a few prestige brands as well. There are A LOT of neutrals so this is a great palette for someone who is looking for those types of colors. There are a few bright shades (I’ll admit it, the shimmering green was the color that convinced me to pull the trigger). I am looking forward to creating more looks and sharing my thoughts with all of you. Here is today’s look: https://instagram.com/p/BZ6xo8chHTx/
Weekend plans: We started watching Taboo with Tom Hardy. Looking forward to digging deeper into this show.
What I’m listening to: Portugal The Man Woodstock
I love your purple makeup look Tammy!
Thank you, Denise!
Love the look Tammy. I’ve enjoyed all of the Morphe palettes that I’ve tried. They’ve all been nicely pigmented, very blendable, and long wearing. Anyway, I love your look today.
Thank you, Shari. Morphe doesn’t get a lot of love in the beauty world but I am definitely impressed by this palette.
Beautiful makeup look Tammy and this palette is pretty good – only one or two little duds. The rest are fabulous shades.
Yes, I think sometimes we see the rating for a palette (in this case, Christine gave it a B-), not realizing that it was just a couple duds that pulled the overall score down. If you read through the comments, Christine wrote several times that she really liked the palette. This palette has THIRTY-FIVE eyeshadows, most of which perform good to very good. 32-33 good to very good eyeshadows for $38? That’s a deal!
More and more I find myself allowing my inner thoughts and intuition to direct my cosmetic purchases. Of course I check reviews, I will always do that. But I am not going to limit myself to only A rated products, because many times the A rated products just sit on my shelf while the B’s and sometimes C’s are so compelling that I find myself using them all the time.
Tammy,I love Outer Limits!!All the Nars Hardwired Shadows I have I am I obsessed with. The Jaclyn Hill palette is awesome! The quality surprised me because I am not impressed by Morphe as a brand but with Jaclyn being a perfectionist and the fact that she took 2 years to perfect this palette I decided to make it my first purchase from them despite the shipping and handling costs.I hate paying shipping and handling. The only other Morphe product I have ever purchased is their collaboration with @Brittanybearmakeup for her Artis like Nose Contouring brush set and I love it also.
Lovely, lovely look Tammy! (And that amazing mega-watt smile is hard to beat.)
Awww, thank you Rachel?
Haul: Pat McGraft Flesh 3 matte lip stick, Sublime and Subversive eye shadow palettes from Sephora using Temptalia’s link! I’m so excited for this collection, hope it doesn’t disappoint me.
Weekend: Going out to diner tonight and Saturday, house chores and Sunday’s my favorite night for TV
What music have you been enjoying?: I rarely listen to music because I’m always listening to audio books. I have Sirius xm in my car but rarely use it. I like oldies R&B, Classical and Jazz music
Haul: Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light (mini)…it gives a subtle effect, but I like it
Weekend Plans: I’m dealing with a cough right now, so maybe watch TV and rest. If I feel better, I’ll probably go shopping with a friend.
What album (music) have you been enjoying?: I’ve rekindled my love for kpop recently, so I’ve been listening to a lot of Girls Generation and Shinee.
I hope you feel better soon, a lingering cough is so annoying.
Haul: Sugarpill Lumi loose eyeshadow (Yaaaaaay it’s back! Booooooo it’s the original price but a full gram smaller??? Cute new jar tho) and Acidberry pro pan which I honestly expected to be more neon and less astroturf green wtf am I going to do with this; Lipstick Queen Bright Natural Saint l/s, two Tony Moly sheet masks and one Foot Peeling Shoes; Coloured Raine Mary and Jade liquid lipsticks.
Plans: Weekend trip to Portland! We’re going to visit friends, but I’m equally pumped for the restaurant/food truck scene and to do a quick hike. There’s a corn maze nearby, and I’ve never seen one before. I’m also eagerly waiting to see if the Foot Peeling Shoes I used on Tuesday take effect, so there’s that too. Haha. Eew.
Music: Mostly early-mid 90s house and hip hop the last couple weeks, but I’ve really been struggling to find just the right thing to listen to lately. Listened to Etta James and Beatles while I did my makeup today.
Glad you’re digging the new Kesha, Christine! It’s an interesting album. IMHO she does her most mature work on it (Obviously, given a lot of things.) but it’s also a little less cohesive and more hit and miss than her previous stuff. It’s really cool to hear her music without Luke’s censorship or influence, and for her to be able to finally experiment more as an artist. I’m rooting for her and looking forward to seeing what else she does.
Haul: Dior 5-pan Eyeshadow in Feel – I’d been wanting this since seeing it here back in May – and the Laura Mercier Mode to Modern Caviar Stick Collection. I also picked up a replacement bottle of Soap and Glory’s Sugar Crush body wash (my bottle is getting near to empty and I like this). Clarins special offer GWP is coming up soon so I placed an order – another bottle of Super Restorative Eye Cream and a bottle of Satin Smooth Body Lotion (pricey for such a small bottle but really nice).
Weekend plans: baking and cooking; cooking and baking – it’s Thanksgiving here in Canada. I do want to get to the gym tomorrow too if I can. Our youngest will be home and we’re doing a bed swap (he’s taking his queen sized bed and leaving his double bed from his school days – it’s a nicer fit for his room here at home and his bedroom in his new house is massive). We’ll probably go to the Rockton World’s Fair on Monday, if the weather is good.
Music – I’m so not a music person. I’ve had the same music on a USB in my car for a year or more. If I’m listening to anything “more” just now, it’s probably Tom Petty. RIP, Tom!
Enjoy your Thanksgiving weekend Mariella, I am sure you’re cooking up a storm. It’s such a lovely tradition that I wish we had it here in Aus.
Thank you so much for the kind wishes, Genevieve. Hoping your weekend is a nice one too!
Have a great Thanksgiving, Mariella!
Haul: Skincare: Bare minerals i.d. bare Vitamins skin Rev-ev Upper
Makeup: MUFE lipsticks in C211 and M205; Bite Beauty Lush Lip Tint in Juice (bought two BB Juice as they were on sale)
Hair : Phyto 7 – Hydrating Day Cream with 7 plants (dry hair) and Giovanni 2chic Avocado & Olive Oil Ultra Moist Super Potion ( Anti-Frizz & Binding Serum Oil). Both are leave-in hair products and I use them in combination on damp hair, before styling. They work way better for my dry hair that some Living Proof products I have used before.
Nails: ILNP in Black Orchid (a stunning deep burgundy) and Picture Polish in Bordeaux; love them for fall/winter. ILNP and Picture Polish are my favourite indie nail polish brands.
Weekend plans: Relax , some cooking, cleaning and lots of study. It’s a long weekend here in Canada.
What album (music) have you been enjoying?: I don’t have a specific album I’m listening right now, but I love rock, Coldplay, anything House (especially Armin van Buuren, David Guetta, Tiësto, Axwell Λ Ingrosso). I also love a new Romanian band called “Golan” (rascals in a free translations) as they have an interesting sound, a mixture of electro music, classical, ethno, with jazz rhythms (love their pieces Nevertheless, Abel Symphonic session). When I feel like dancing or when I’m running, I just listen to some House music :). I miss Europe for the house/techno music festivals (like Tomorrowland 2017).

What album (music) have you been enjoying?: Blutengel “Leitbild”
I had signed up for the early release of the Storybook palette and didn’t get the notice. I was so bummed. So now I have to wait for the general release. I am just hoping I get it then. It looks really gorgeous. I know some people didn’t like the packaging because it is “large and bulky” but I think it is beautiful and since I wouldn’t plan on taking it while traveling, I don’t care about the size. I am glad to hear you like it since I haven’t really seen any reviews or tutorials.
Deborah, Besame sent me the “you’ll be getting the link” but then never sent the link. Luckily a friend in a makeup group on FB shared it. I’ve heard several people say the never got the link email. 🙁 I hope you can catch it on official release. It definitely a collectors item, not a “take everywhere with you” palette.
Part of why I love it is that almost exactly 36 years ago, my father got me a collector’s Snow White book filled with tons of the animators’ sketches, character studies, storyboards, etc. The look of the book is very similar to the palette “book.” It’s like they were made to go together.
Oh, and there are pictures of all the palette and packaging on my Pinterest, under hauls & looks, if you want to see.
Oh, what a wonderful story. I understand why it is so special to you. I have a couple of things my father made for me when I was a baby and I treasure them above all my other possessions.
Yes, I saw a YT video and blog explaining the details of the book/palette and I just thought it was absolutely gorgeous and knew that I wanted it.
When I was little my parents would take all three of us kids to the drive-in and we had an old red station wagon. They would make beds in the back and if we were tired we could go to sleep. An ice chest of snacks and drinks because we couldn’t afford the concession stand goodies or if we did it was a small bag of popcorn shared between all 5 of us. I first saw many of the classic Disney movies in that drive-in. The funny thing was I am a night owl, always have been and my brother and sister were in bed early. My parents would take us to “more mature” movies hoping we would all fall asleep. I never did so at 4 or 5 years of age I got to see some pretty mature movies, or what passed for them back in the 60’s!! I saw Butterfield 8, Sunday Bloody Sunday and all the James Bond movies. So fun.
Ha, ha! Same for me at the drive-ins. My mom feel asleep much earlier than I did. I ended up seeing James Bond movies, Death Wish, Dirty Harry, Saturday Night Fever (R version), Valley of the Dolls. All sorts of things I probably shouldn’t have.
The Storybook palette looks divine and the way the brand has done the packaging is inspiring. No wonder you love it.
It’s beyond gorgeous, Genevieve. I love all the thought that went into it, and how Besame worked with the original color palette for Snow White and her clothing for the eyeshadows.
Having a good stretch Mellon – how cute is he!
Haul: some more Physicians Formula Argon oil on sale.
Weekend plans: On Saturday my eldest son David and I are taking Olivia and Lachlan to a new playground that has just been re-developed for a good play and on Sunday, nothing much as the males in the household are watching the Bathurst 1000 km car race….
What albums have you been listening to: my preference these days runs to Celtic music: Clannad and the beautiful Hebredian band Capercaille.
Haul: Not very much. I purchased the primer for CeeBee and she purchased my foundation that I cannot get here in the US. She also picked up 2 e/s that I have always wanted. I purchased the Benefit Watt’s Up and Dr. Jart BB cream, J One Jelly pack, masque and lotion after reading Alecto’s review. I also picked up a couple of K-Beauty items as seen on Gothamista’s YT channel. In particular I ordered Isntree HA toner, Stratia Liquid Gold and Klairs Toner Mate 2 in 1 cotton pads.
Weekend plans: Nothing special. The usual housekeeping chores, a small get together with family and then on Sunday I plan on finishing up a few pieces of furniture that I am refurbishing for my garage conversion. It is hard to believe I started this project 13 months ago and still am not finished.
Music: I have been revisiting some of Prince’s work. I saw a couple of documentary type programs about his life and also read a couple of books. He was quite interesting. Clearly lived an unusual life and many issues but really interesting none the less. I didn’t pay much attention to most of his early work as the hyper-sexualized lyrics didn’t appeal but after seeing the programs I have tried to listen to them with different “ears” and I feel a slight gentling of my feelings about the songs. I am very happy that I got the chance to see him before he passed and when he was at the height of his popularity. I think it is a bit of a cliché that he had “small man syndrome” but I really do wonder how his life would have played out had he been taller. While his height did not matter to those listening to him I think it really mattered to him. We’ll never know.
Beauty and skincare haul: Bronx Baked Eyeshadow in Venus (shipped today!), deluxe Laura Geller Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator in Diamond Dust (freebie, shipped today!), deluxe Origins Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash (liking it so far even though I’m more oily than combo), and deluxe Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief (my favorite evening moisturizer).
Weekend plans: NYC tomorrow and hopefully a local food festival on Sunday, if the downpours hold off!
Album: I’ve been on a Guys & Dolls 1992 revival soundtrack kick lately.
So glad you’re going to be reviewing the Pat McGrath palettes! I’m dying to see some swatches (other than the washi tape finger swatches on instagram, which have no relationship to how anything actually looks and performs).
I hauled Armani Cheek Fabric blush in 502 skin and bronzer in 100. I know these are not recent launches but I am not really the one to rub after „recent“ stuff. I think I will shop Nars Man Ray collection next year and I am just warming up to ABH MR.
Weekend plans: Mother-in-law visiting. Nuff said.
Music: I an really enjoying listening to my favorite music from 10 yrs ago. It is hip hop and r‘n‘b mostly. Makes me feel young again.
Haul: The BURBERRY Liquid Lip Velvet Set because I am weak, the L’Occitane Advent Calendar as it sells out fast, and the Dr. Brandt Skincare microdermabrasion age defying exfoliator as it was half off so I finally got a full size
Weekend plans: Seeing my sister for the first time in 5 years!
What album (music) have you been enjoying?: I’ve only just discovered Spotify so I’m enjoying tons on that. Also Keiynan Lonsdale’s stuff is just happy.
Also may add- Celebrating and also processing FINALLY getting a diagnosis (from the best pain specialist in the country) after almost 6 years.
