I really like MAC blot powder, a little goes a long way and it works wonders for me in the summer!
ive only tried mac blot powder and i hit pan so quick on it. so i use rimmel stay matte now 🙂 1/10th of the price.
Mac’s Blot Powder! Absolute HG product <3
I love Mac Blot Powder.
Clarins: Shine Stopper
It’s just the best. It can’t possibly get better than this.
Laura Mercier’s Smooth Focus Pressed Setting Powder. HG product for an oily t-zone.
I don’t have a fav, i juse diffrent powders 🙂
I’m so glad you shared this information…
Two faves: Clarins Shinestopper and Guerlain Meterorites Compact. I use blot papers, though, before applying the Gueerlain. Clarins is really the best at oil absorption.
I like Besame powder in the lovely golden case with the red velvet pouch. I just love pulling it out of my bag for a touch up.
I use MAC prep + prime transparant finishing powder as a blot powder. Love it! It doesn’t make my face to matte, but it absorbs the oils good. It leaves my face semi matte.
agreed! especially the pressed version!
My first blotting powder was Urban Decay’s De-Slick. I really liked how it came with a decent puff, made my pores look smaller, and was easy to layer without looking cakey. Unfortunately, it only controlled oil on me for like ~2 hours.
Then I got MAC Blot. A thin layer in the morning controlled oil all day. Ah-maaaazing. I still get a bit oily around my T-zone toward the end of the day, so I bring my UD De-Slick with me for touchups.
I love the mac one
My absolute favourite is CoverFX hands down!!!! I use the DEEP shade and it works beautifully : )
Goes on smooth and it doesn’t make me look ashy or gray (*cough… MAC’S blot power/translucent powder).
i like the coverfx matte fx powders too! i use light!
i will definitely have to give clarins a try though, b/c i do find that matte fx requires touchups frequently throughout the day to control my oil spill! ;P
MAC Blot powder. And just purchased Prep & Prime by MAC – now in a compact!
I’ve only ever tried two “dedicated” blotting powders – MAC Blot and CoverFX MatteFX. Both are good but of the 2, I prefer MAC Blot and it’s something I will never be without. I didn’t know Clarins made a mattifying powder. My husband’s cousin is the Clarins SA at the store nearest me and I’m always eager to give her more business so I’ll be checking this out.
I had been using the MAC Blot Powder for a while but it was always get cakey looking on my skin regardless of how little product I tried to get on the applicator puff. It still works in a pinch though. I recently purchased Guerlain’s illuminating and mattifying pressed powder and am in love with it
if you use a fluffy brush, it wont get cakey. you get less product on a brush as opposed to a puff, plus it diffuses the powder on the face better. 🙂
Mally Beauty Evercolor Poreless Face Defender. I reviewed it a few weeks ago and LOVE! It’s colorless and really makes your pores look nonexistent and gives a satin finish. They just came out with a compact version that you can carry in your purse for touch-ups throughout the day. I have oily skin and LOVE it!
I use and love MAC’s blot powder – I dont know if I can call it my favorite though since its the only one Ive ever tried. Now that you’ve all shared your favorites, maybe Ill try something new next time 🙂
Shiseido Translucent Pressed Powder! It’s great for my combination skin because it controls oil well while not drying out the area of my skin that isn’t oily. I used to use MAC Blot Powder but like someone said above, it cakes up no matter what amount I use. It also looks really dirty and feels disgusting after a few hours 🙁 The Shiseido one is so natural and comfortable to wear and way better than Blot Powder at oil control!
do you think the loose version of the shiseido powder works the same way as the pressed one?
I think it’s essentially the same, I just prefer the pressed powder because it’s portable 🙂
MAC Blot Powder 🙂
I am an oil slick! I’ve tried just about every powder, mattifier, blotting paper, yadda, yadda, yadda out there. Thanks to this blog, I discovered both MAC Blot Powder and MAC Translucent Powder about 4-5 months ago. I prefer a loose powder, so MAC Translucent Powder is a staple on my vanity, but my MAC Blot Powder stays in my purse for when I travel.
Clarins is a brand I love, but I didn’t know about their Shine Stopper. As much as I love my MAC powders, I *am* a makeup junkie and feel compelled to check this out, too!
TheBalm Sexy Momma. It looks kind of shimmery in the pan, but goes on perfectly smooth and mattifies my extremely oily t-zone without caking up on my extremely dry cheeks.
I have to admit, though, despite being exceedingly pleased with the product, I’m tempted to try Mac Blot after reading this thread!
MAC careblend! It gives the most amazing finish. My makeup looks unfinished without it. It also works well with my MUFE matte velvet + at keeping my t zone under control.
OK, no one laugh. I love Cornsilk Translucent powder. Cornsilk has amazing properties. I actually use cornstarch right out of the box to help combat heat rash and it does a wonderful trick. I live in AZ so heat is a big problem here and so is chafing. I used Cornstarch on my babies as a natural alternative to powders and it works ah-may-zing!
I’ve used Cornsilk before. It’s good stuff. I used Tarte Amazonian Clay loose powder for blotting and it lasts the day. I have surfably-oily skin, too, and nothing worked except for the Cornsilk – which I couldn’t get to look quite right on me – or the Coty loose powder.
I love Mac blot powder. It’s the only thing that keeps my oily skin from getting shiny too quickly without looking powdry.
my fave blotting powder is mac’s blot powder: a little goes a long way and it really does control oil. 🙂
Mac Blot. I’ve been using it for 10+ years and it really is the only thing that keeps my matte for longer then an hour. You have to be careful not to apply too much or it can look cakey. I usually press it on with a puff and lightly blend it out with a brush.
I love MAC’s lot powder. It works great for me.
Even though now I prefer M·A·C Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder/Pressed for touchups, but M·A·C Blot IS the best bloting powder I’ve ever tried!
I think MAC Blot powder. The best!
i will definitely have to try mac blot powder AND see if i can find clarin’s version as well! will also try shiseido’s translucent powder in pressed and loose! 🙂
I use MAC blot powder pressed for touch-ups and I looove it!
