Deborah Lippmann Fall 2011 Collection

Deborah Lippmann Fall 2011 Collection

I have worked directly with some of the world’s top fashion designers on everything from ad campaigns to fashion shows. When I set out to select nail looks for the fall 2011 collections, I noticed a common theme among all of my collaborators: warmth. The clothes featured vivid, lush earth tones—think lush greens, rich reds and intense golds.

I wanted to capture a similar heat and earthiness in the accompanying polishes, but with an added punch. BILLIONAIRE, a moody hunter green, BRICK HOUSE, a shimmering rust, and SINGLE LADIES, a flirtatious red, all have warm undertones, which give them a beautiful intensity, but also have a jewel-like quality so they really make nails pop.

Usually Narciso requests a nude nail to complement his minimalist designs, but for fall 2011 around he wanted something bolder—a color with strength and edge to offset both his collection and the softness of the hair and makeup. For the perfect custom finish, I mixed (and mixed) a new shade by hand in just 24 hours. The final product: an edgy granite that emanated power and intensity. The models who walked the show (and who rarely, if ever, comment on the nail color) gushed over the shade. And so STORMY WEATHER was born an edgy granite (crème) for a strong fall statement. — Deborah Lippmann

Billionaire and Stormy Weather look interesting, but I’ll have to see them swatched because promo pictures usually don’t do the colours justice.

Thanks for posting this heads up! 🙂

I bought Billionaire at the Nordstrom sale, haven’t tried it yet but I love how it looks in the bottle. Didn’t like the others for my skin tone (I’m very fair with a pink-ish tone.) They do look different in person than the photos – Single Ladies is not as red in person.

I have Billionaire and it looks darker on the nail then in the bottle. It’s still beautiful though, a very dark, deep, almost black green. These colors have been out for a few weeks at Holt Renfrew in Canada.

Sorry to burst your bubble Miss Lippmann but fall colors have always been based on warm earth tones. I like Billionaire, Single Ladies, and Stormy Weather, however none of them are impossible to dupe.

The fall rules are out the window this year! We have pinks from OPI and brights in China Glaze. Just like no rules on wearing white pants after Labor Day – no rules anymore on polish shades…though after mid Oct I do tends to want to get out my pumpkin shades and old mowed up fields shades. There are a few in my stash that to me, only look right that time of year – but I am always going to wear a pink in the middle of winter and fall – esp on my toes that are often only visible to me. Warm climates also like FL and So. CA – you tend to wear pinks and all kinds of shades until Xmas when you want to go those amazing reds.

Hard to ever find any complaint with a Deb Lippmann polish. She nails her formulas…esp her creams. i am anxious to see swatches of these new fall colors and not bottle shots to make up my mind what I want to get.
