Tarte Buried Treasure Eyeshadow Palette ($36.00 for 0.37 oz.) is a new, limited edition palette with ten shades in various warm, neutral tones.

First Impressions

The palette is supposed to have a “creamy powder formula” that will “cut your blending time in half” and “primes lids for payoff.” The consistency was dense but softly pressed, so there was some excess product that kicked up in the pan, but it adhered more smoothly to the skin than expected. There were some shades that were a little looser and more shimmery, and they did not seem to go on as evenly without a primer as one might want. The formula seemed better than the average Tarte eyeshadow for a holiday palette, but I generally find their mega-palettes to be more prone to problems than smaller ones like this palette. The shades themselves seemed fairly dupable, and the varying sizes of the pans may not work for all.

I thought so at first, too. I think it’s the shades, plus Tarte’s blushes are usually round. The round pans threw me off.

Unrelated: My hubby is planning a trip for us to Australia either next spring or fall. I’m so excited! Maybe when it gets closer to trip time, you and I could plan an in-person meeting. 🙂

I’m not sure the pans are big at all…think the dimensions of this one are slightly bigger than the hand. That’s not exactly a hint, Christine, but having your hand hold the palette gives us a better idea of the dimensions. People have commented on this being smaller than they thought.

The colors aren’t ground breaking but they look like they will go well together. But I’m not a fan of the packaging, I’m getting dizzy looking at this because my eyes keep darting around the different pans, all of which are different sizes. I like symmetrical layouts more

I believe this is the palette I thought was blush when it first went up on Temptalia a few weeks back. Maybe? Ugh, I feel like i’ve been looking at so many palettes lately and it’s running together in my mind! The holiday releases always do this to me. I am 100% confident I already have these shades (some a few times over) in my stash. I bet this would be a good multitasker palette for the eyes and cheeks for someone who is just starting out with makeup. For the veterans on here, pretty sure people have dupes upon dupes for these shades. Is it wrong that I really wanna see these shades swatched as blushes on different skin tones?

I purchased this palette…..and then I returned it. It was so…..blah. It was smaller than you’d think looking at the picture and the payoff was terrible. A couple of the colors were just glitter. It looked beautiful in person but it just did nothing for me.
