Natasha Denona Lila Eyeshadow Palette ($129.00 for 1.20 oz.) is a new, permanent palette that features 15 eyeshadows–four mattes and the rest ranging from pearl to sparkling, metallic in finish.

First Impressions

I imagine that if you liked Natasha Denona’s Sunset Palette or enjoy the more shimmery shades from the brand’s earlier releases, you’ll enjoy the quality of the Lila palette. It felt comparable to me, and the shades that I did apply (I have not finished wearing them, so I cannot speak on wear) were in line with the formulations used in the Sunset palette. If you tend to incorporate more matte eyeshadows into your looks, you might find that there aren’t enough to support a variety of looks within the palette, and a lot of the shimmers are quite frosted/metallic with some having a bit of larger sparkle to them, which might be prone to fallout. The majority of the eyeshadows seemed to be semi-opaque to opaque in pigmentation with fairly soft textures, though the mattes had a drier, velvety feel–dry but not really in a bad way–and always appeared noticeably darker applied than they did in the pan (the metallics are almost the reverse–more reflective and therefore lighter on).

If only for a couple more mattes… mind you the ones they do have all look very useful! I just have the kind of eye that I can only do shimmer directly of the lid portion. The colour scheme is so fab though, its a maybe…

WHY MUST THIS BE $200 IN CANADA WITH TAX FACTORED IN. WAAAAHHHHHH!!!!! It’s so beautiful, but I just can’t. Hopefully the Huda Desert Dusk will be all that since it’s half the price. But this is beyond amazing. Christine your eye looks are killing it. Beautiful.

Asche Avatar

I feel the same. I cannot justify $200 on eyeshadow. I will probably go for Huda’s Desert Dusk instead, but I do love the look of this palette. Guess it’s going on my Christmas wishlist. 😛

Oh can’t wait to see the dupes for these! 😀
I have my eye especially on Viola, Nude Vino, Livid, and Dragon Bite. I did think Dragon Bite would be closer to what it looks like in the pan.
I also have my eye on Amara, but I’m sure I have a close enough dupe for it if I’m thinking of the right shadow.

I’m really attracted to this palette/color scheme. I haven’t been with any of her other palettes because I felt like the quality (based on reviews) didn’t match the price point. But very tempted with this one, especially if it reviews well.

If I may paraphrase something my dad often says when presented with a price tag like that: ‘It’s really pretty, it’s just not $130 worth of pretty.’

Gina Avatar

Pretty, but not $129 worth of pretty. It looks fairly dupable and I don’t know how many different looks are possible with this. I almost ordered it yesterday but I’m glad I waited until I saw your swatches. It definitely helped sway me to pass on this. I’d rather wait and spend my money on something else!

I agree, I almost bought it first day, then I thought, hmmmmm Pat McGrath’s palettes are starting to look good to me (at least two of them are). And then I thought, “Christmas is coming, I could ask for ND’s palette as a joint gift from my kids.” 😉 I’m waving though the more I see both brands’ palettes!

The mattes look good. I’m not excited by the duochromes at all, sadly.

Your swatches are MUCH more realistic than the PR ones, so while I wanted to love this, I can’t help feeling a bit disappointed. I mean, they look fine but they don’t “WOW!” me and and for upwards of $200 (in converted $USD for me) that’s not enough to justify it unfortunately. 🙁

Maybe Colourpop will offer an alternative like they did with Sunset/Yes, Please? 😉

I am so torn by this palette. I like the colors in this one more than the Huda palette but the price point is ridiculous and I haven’t always loved the ND shadows. I have a couple of the 5 pan palettes and they blend to a muddy mess. If you don’t blend them much they are really beautiful but with my heavily hooded eyes I have to blend them or they look like stripes on my eye lid. My daughter prefers the DS palette and feels the same way about the ND palettes I have purchased for her. I am going to have to ponder this one for awhile. I know there is the Sephora sale coming up in November but I already plan on really stocking up on my skin care items that cost a bundle. I don’t know. I really love the eye looks that you did Christine. I guess I will wait and swatch at Sephora and make my decision then.

I ordered this when it launched because I love her shadows & because Beautylish does that flex-pay thing so w/my Bioderma it was only $50-some on the first payment (& then $47 next month & $47 in Nov), which makes the price a little easier to swallow. I also want Huda’s Desert Dusk in the worst way ? & got TF Peachy Mattes. It’s such an addiction!!! & they all launch so close to each other. Huda’s is on the 18th… ugh how do you make yourself only buy what you need-need?? I seriously need makeup rehab lol anyone know of one? Oh eyeshadow how I love thee!

Natasha Denona has good quality but for a purple themed palette is it crazy that I wanted to see more actual purples? Out of the 15 shades it looks like only 4 are actually purple. Your eye look is gorgeous and I know purples are hard to make but I love purple, it’s my favorite color and I’m sad there’s not as many purples in this palette. Bright side it’s $129 saved!
