Le Metier de Beaute Fall/Winter 2011 Collection: Bordeaux

Le Metier de Beaute Fall/Winter 2011 Collection: Bordeaux

For his second season with Le Métier de Beauté, Neiman Marcus’s Fashion Director Ken Downing took the essence of the fall runways and distilled it into a beauty collection that mixes and matches essential color combinations into feminine, elegant beauty duos.

“The fall runways were filled with a return to polished sophistication and elegance. The message: ‘Lady Chic,’ remarks Mr. Downing. “Ensemble dressing – elbow length gloves, a sexy pump and coordinating handbag look right for the fashion moment. Color is paramount! Bordeaux and deep magentas became my inspiration and palette for the matched sets I created for Le Métier de Beauté. Now, the fashion message for the season is on everyone’s lips and fingertips!”

Introducing “The Bordeaux Collection” for Fall 2011 – designed exclusively by Ken Downing for Le Métier de Beauté – three exclusive sets of coordinating lipsticks and nail lacquers that will make you want to carry your gloves. Each set will retail for $49.00.

I love the Red My Lips (Lip) & Gypsy Rose Me (Nail) and I’m Worn this Way (Lip) & Vintage Ken (Nail) colours. There is something about the design of the lipstick tube that I don’t really like though

I think the tube looks kind of cheap. Actually, LMdB is one of those “the emperor is wearing no clothes” brands for me. And going back to the first colors (or would that be “kolors”?) that Ken Downing did, “Ken’s Korals”? Tacky, tacky name. Pass.

I picked up the LMdB polish set during the Nordstrom sale. I haven’t tried all the colors yet, but the first one I did the brush was splayed and it took three coats for full coverage – underwhelming considering their normal price point given the size of their bottles (when 4 of their bottles = 1 of Chanel, they’re tiny).

Aside from those issues – the colors just seem underwhelming. Pass.

i picked that one up too. it was so discouraging, i felt the colors were really disappointing and the formula seemed streaky. i hope their other products are better than that!

I’m looking solely at the colors here: They are rather stunning. Although I fear, as a fair-skinned, black-haired woman, that these colors would be terrifically harsh on me. Now, the main question here is about the texture and quality of the products.
