Do you wear loose powder/foundation?
Do you wear loose powder or mineral foundation? If so, what’s your favorite? If not, why not?
I only use loose powder for setting liquid foundation/tinted moisturizer – I never find that powder gives me the finish/coverage I need!

No, I prefer pressed powders since they are more portable. I rarely will set with a loose powder but if I do it’s usually Mac prep/prime or MUFE HD powder.
Value-wise, loose powders do always seem to have more product though.
Mineral powder foundation does nothing for me, either. I do use loose powder (lately NYC’s loose powder, though I’ve also tried e.l.f.’s High Definition powder) to set liquid foundation or TM, though.
Yep I use bare minerals original foundation everyday /:) I’m in highschool so it’s good for everyday, not too overdone like liquid can be
I like pressed powder, it’s easier to carry and use 🙂
I use a pressed foundation powder applied with a brush to set tinted moisturizer as well. I feel self-conscious wearing a powder foundation alone because i think it makes my face look…well, powdery.
love my BE, all other liquid or cream foundations are to yellow for me. if I need more coverage I use concealer under neath
I really dislike loose powder foundation (Bare Minerals). As least on my skin, it is too much work for poor results. I hated buffing it into my skin. It didn’t last the day, and always started to look cakey.
There are so many varieties of finishes with liquid foundation that I can confidently say I will NEVER go back to loose powder foundation. Right now I’m loving Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua, mostly because I can get a nice natural finish applying it quickly with my fingers.
Though I am interested in trying out a loose translucent powder one day.
I use loose powder to set, and on weekends I wear mineral powder with some concealer
I tend to wear concealer with a little bit of loose powder to set it or no face makeup at all.
I used bare minerals for a while, but it wasn’t working for me so I never repurchased. Then my youtube watching brought me to the Laura Mercier mineral powder which is some thing I love now. It’s easy to work into the skin and has a creamy texture even though it’s a powder. It’s a little pricey so I reserve it for special occassion makeup.
It depends on what I’m using. I use loose powder to set liquid foundations, and I use pressed powder foundation, or 2 way powders to set cream foundations.
I have tried loose powders like Bare Essentials and it makes me look like I have makeup on (a powdery residue) but I love my Milani pressed powder and have been using it for a long time 🙂
I have combo skin, with mostly dry cheeks year-round and an oily t-zone during the summer. I don’t use liquid foundation just because I don’t generally wear foundation on a daily basis! I like the portability of a mineral pressed powder.
I use glominerals mineral pressed powder in golden-light (NC25 equivalent). The coverage is buildable, and for the most part it gives me the coverage I need. Some people have told me that I should just invest in a tinted moisturizer, but I like how powder feels, especially the glominerals brand. I don’t set with anything or prime with anything (except maybe moisturizer? lol). Coverage usually lasts about 6-8 hours on me if I don’t touch me face often. My skin’s pretty good, aside from minor blotchiness (some pink areas around nose).
I like pressed powder and foundation, but I tend to use loose foundation for my lazy days when I don’t need much coverage.
I wear MAC MSF natural as a foundation when I’m going out to do quick errands, but I’d never wear it alone when I’ll be out the whole day. I just don’t feel it performs any better than my normal foundation.
Those days I have no choice I just use powder cause the foundation I have (which is the lightest I was able to get yet) is STILL too dark for me. I need to stop at a MAC counter and see if they have one that can fit for me cause i’m awfully pale…
Mac isn’t the greatest place to go for fair people….I prefer Graftobian, Yaby (by mixing the white and lightest shade of foundation), and Face Ateiler (by mixing too).
I use a pressed powder foundation from many years (it’s an Italian brand called Deborah). I’m trying mineral loose foundations, but my skin is too dry for an everyday use (or probably I’havent found the right foundation yet). Often I use ELF mineral booster
I usually use pressed powder (preferrably light coverage) to set my tinted moisturizer (or liquid foundation if I wanted more coverage than usual). I find loose powder to be really messy.
I like MAC’s blot powder (which is pressed) to set make-up but I’m definitely thinking (as another poster said) that loose powders are probably more value for the money overall.
I really wanted to like bare escentuals but whenever I swatch it on my hand I’m horrified by how sparkly it is.
I just prefer liquid and cream formulations anyway :P. I like blending with my fingers and I just feel like mineral foundations sit unattractively on my skin. Probably because I don’t apply it properly!
I use looser powder for setting and to touch up my face when it get too oily.
but loose foundation makes my pores look bigger then ever.
basically I don’t like anything in powder form.
Yes, I only wear powder foundation. I have oily skin that is fairly clear, so coverage it not a problem for me.
I use a pressed powder, generally, but have the rest just in case. I live in Atlanta and the heat makes me feel like I’m melting.
I have been wearing mineral foundation on and off for about 3 years. I tried just about every leading brand out there, and my favorites are EDM and Lily Lolo. The last one really gives a nice airbrushed finish 🙂
I can’t recall ever using loose foundation. I can’t conceive of a powder that would give me the right coverage on my skin, lol. (“Oh, eyeshadows, those pigmented colors, are powders, too? No way!” is the dialogue that popped into my head when I wrote that sentence. I’m still blonde on the inside, I reckon.) I do try to set my foundation with powder, but my face routin is ever-evolving, as I haven’t really found the right powder yet :/
I always used only pressed powder to set my foundation but recently I’ve started to use a loose powder that helps to keep my foundation the same colour and doesn’t darken it like some other powders. I like this because I have very fair skin.
I don’t wear mineral foundation, although I have tried it, as I feel it doesn’t provide enough coverage or give me the finished look that liquid foundation provides.
I use Bare Minerals every now And then, it looks nice when i just applied it but by the end of night it gets caky, specially if it’s hot and humid… I hate that! This is a fall/winter product for me.
I use loose powder everyday. I love Sue Devitt Triple C-Weed Loose Powder. I also use this to set liquid foundation on weekends and special occasions. But for touch-ups I bring along a pressed powder. It’s just much more convenient 🙂
Loose powder or mineral foundation doesnt right on my skin by itself. Have to use liquid foundation and set with loose powder.
I use a loose powder for setting (Hollywood by Neve Make Up, it’s a MUFE HD dupe but cheaper!) and a mineral fundation too because I love it… it’s great on skin.
95% of the time, I wear a mineral powder foundation and my favourite is Pur Minerals or Laura Mercier. I like Pur Minerals because it’s pressed into a compact. It also gives really good coverage for my needs, at least. I find it so much easier and quicker than liquid foundations. When I wear liquid, I always set with some sort of powder (usually MAC’s loose setting powder or MUFE HD powder of which I have a large sample)
I quite like the Lancome mineral foundation~ over a dab of primer it’s perfect for events where I feel like I want more coverage. I don’t really need coverage and only conceal pores and maybe some minor redness, so it works well for me
YES, mineral foundation! I hate liquid foundation. I’ve tried so many different brands and applied with with different brushes, sponges and fingers. NONE of them work for me. They look cakey and unnatural on my skin and disappears within 1-2 hours (I have very oily skin). After I discovered Jane Iredale’s mineral foundation, I just can’t live without it. It looks so natural on and gives me better coverage than most medium coverage foundations (redness in the cheeks is my main problem). And best of all, it stays on ALL day. I also love that they have colors that actually suits my skintone. Most liquid foundations are way too yellow for me.
I used to use the Physician’s Choice loose powder foundation over my liquid foundation (never thought it had enough coverage to use alone as my foundation), but it oxidized and I had no patience for it- it’s life was slightly extended by using primer in my routine too (kept the oxidization at bay!), but it just wasn’t nice enough. Like many have already posted, I prefer a pressed powder foundation. I love my MAC Studio Fix Plus. For extra coverage, I use it over a liquid foundation (this is a great combo for stage makeup!) but for everyday, I apply with a light hand over a tinted moisturizer. I’m going a little more minimal for the hottest days of the summer (tinted moisturizer + a lighter weight pressed powder).
I find since I live in a dry climate, and I’m starting to age, that powder of any kind is not my friend, haha!
I use Bare Minerals off and on, so yes. When I’m not using that, I use a tinted moisturizer, so I like very sheer coverage. I don’t like pressed powder at all; it’s always loose for me. I love Bare Minerals Hydrating Mineral Veil as a setting powder.
Its the only thing i wear!
I use Meow cosmetics flawless feline foundation. I dont think Ill ever go back to a liquid.
Loose powder is a must every day. I use Guerlain, Chanel, CK, YSL, Shiseido.
Mineral Foundation is a a no-no. it does not cover enough is used alone or, if used on top of other stuff is cakes andflakes … a highgtmare.
I use loose powder foundation for everyday wear, and save liquid foundation for special occasions. I love Bare Minerals, but I got a great deal on Avon’s loose powder so I’ve been using that for a while now. I prefer the Bare Minerals. It is kind of sheer, but my skin is pretty even-I have a little extra redness in my cheeks and I always have dark circles. I like that it covers what I want covered, but you can still see my freckles through it.
I no longer wear powder of any kind because my skin is dry. I wear a moisturizing foundation-VitaLumiere by Chanel. In my 20’s, all I would wear was Stila pressed foundation powder. However when I hit 30 few years ago, my skin started to change from combo (dry/oily) to just dry.
Definitely! I switched to Bare Escentuals foundation and Mineral Veil powder years ago, I will NEVER go back to liquid! Liquid doesn’t give me enough coverage (I have mild rosacea) and the powder stays on all day, even in the hot disgusting NYC subway! It also feels like there is “nothing” on my face – liquid makeup felt very heavy, and slid off in the summer.
I used to wear a loose mineral foundation (indie online retailer) for years. Lately, though, my skin has been eeexxxtttrraaa dry and paler? The powder seems to make my face a bit darker and more orange than it should be – and it’s the lightest color available. Plus it was settling in my fine lines and generally making me older. I still like powder foundation, as I don’t need much coverage, but had to switch to something creamier. Still looking for a nice, lightweight cream/liquid foundation that doesn’t contain silicones. More along the lines of a tinted moisturizer, but finding one without ‘cones is tough.
I only use loose powder to touch-up or as a primer (MAC Prep+Prime translucent powder). But I love pressed powder foundation. In the past I have tried liquid foundation, tinted moisturizer and such but they break me out after about a week of daily usage. So I stick to powder foundation and I think it gives good coverage and wear to my combination skin, esp. with a primer underneath. I won’t go back to using liquid foundation on a daily basis, I will bring it out for special events though where I need full coverage.
I like to set my liquid foundation with pressed powder because I think it makes a difference. In my opinion, the foundation looks ‘finished’ rather than if I only used liquid, apart from setting it a bit (before liquid foundation I use a cream that prevents skin from getting shiny on the T-Zone, so that part is pretty much settled).
I used to wear powder foundation all the time when I was in middle/high school. Now that I’m a bit older, I much prefer the natural look that tinted moisturizers/light foundations give me. I only use powder to set now, but only if I need a bit more coverage, otherwise I’ll use BE mineral veil or MUFE HD powder.
I like the Laura Mercier mineral foundation. It puts other mineral foundations to shame… it feels almost creamy. It’s amazing. I also love her loose translucent powder for when I set liquid foundation.
NO! I have really dry skin and no matter how “good” a powder is, it always dries out my skin. I don’t even set my make-up because it’s so drying, only when I use mac full coverage on a big night out I use a hint of chanel’s teint universelle on my nose. btw. chanel powders are the least drying I came across so far. the worst are mineral make-ups, I tried several as I heard they are good for sensitive skin, but leave my face a total cakey and flaky mess, doesn’t matter what brush or puff I use and how light handed I work
I wear BE Hydrating Mineral Veil to help make my combination skin look less oily – and it works <3
Lancome Dual Finish _ absolutely the Best!
I don’t wear loose powder, only pressed. Not a fan of powdered mineral mineral foundation either. My oily skin seems to discolor it.
Powder foundations always made me oilier than liquids. Probably too drying for my skin. I don’t wear foundation though, despite having bad pigmentation marks from previous acne.
Both! I’ve been favoring a mousse foundation lately, and using a loose translucent powder to set, but before that, I was using loose mineral foundation everyday.
(Well, the past few days I’ve been setting UD Tinted Moisturizer with the loose powder, but same difference.)
Mineral foundation changed my life! Liquid foundation clogs my pores and doesn’t blend away the redness in my skin. I wear Meow Cosmetics’ lightest weight powder foundation almost every day. It evens out my skin tone, but still looks very natural on me.
I like the MAC Mineralize loose powder foundation and I have it in Dark.
I use loose powder mineral foundation because it gives me a more natural look then liquid would. I use Avon Minerals and I love it 🙂 I don’t wear a lot of makeup and go for basic natural looks and it’s perfect. It looks natural and flawless without being plasticy like liquid can do. And it moisturizes your skin 🙂 also, non mineral foundation tends to make me break out 🙁
