Weekend plans: I think my daughter wants me to go to the mall with her because she has a return to make. I may shop for some t-shirts.
Are you a sentimental person?: Sometimes.
Let us know how Note works out! Haven’t heard of that brand before but saw them on Ulta recently.
Hmm, you might be able too get it to play on Instagram directly? No idea why it isn’t working 🙁
I had bought the lipstick in Lingerie Pink earlier. While the shade is a bit light, the quality was superb. That’s why I went back and ordered other shades. Hoping they’re as good. Similarly, I had bought an eyeshadow quad. It was also darn respectable. So hoping the slightly larger palettes have the same quality. the one palette is a pretty close dupe to the Chanel one that was so popular.
Yes, will try Instgram directly!
Always interested in your swatches, esp of DS level new U. Some of your Models Own swatches don’t look half bad. Forgot I hauled one Lottie London blush. Those are being well received, and there were few colors left in stock. Note did not inspire me… Also, have done very little except liners from U house brand. Always up for a good blue gray. For years, it was EL Hyacinth Sky. Who remembers when you looked to OG EL for specific colors? God, there’s a proliferation of stuff these days. Thanks for the Nars tip. The gaps are on my wishlist. Minis preferred.
The Models Own is hit or miss. Some of their products are very good (glitter kohl liners) while others (eyeshadow palettes) are not. The Lottie London blush was very good especially for the price. I wish the shade range was better though. Note is pretty muted in their shade range. The lipsticks have a bit more umph to them as far as color. The rest, is pretty basic. Nice fill ins though for a collection especially when you can pick them up on a BOGO.
Looking forward to your comments on Chanel Gabrielle. Most dominant notes, comparison to other Chanels, overall impressions, wearability, how do you like it?
Haul: Tartelette Tease palette + free mascara and lipstick (finally arrived), ABH Modern Renaissance palette, and foundation samples from MAC and KVD. Rainforest of the Sea II palette was supposed to arrive with the Tease palette, but they forgot to put it in the box, so it’s now scheduled to arrive next week.
Weekend plans: Dinner with friends, boring chores
Are you a sentimental person?: I am when it comes to certain things, but not generally.
Oh, how do you like MR?
Love it, but I have a LOT of experimenting to do! I like that there are so many matte colors.
Happy 400th Haul!! You go, girl ?
Haul: Pretty Vulgar Shimmering Swan and Laura Mercier Matte Radiance 01 highlighters. Also just placed an all “The Ordinary” order with Beautylish: Buffet (repurchase), Argireline, AHA/BHA Peeling Solution, and Advanced Retanoid 2%. I’m trying to stop the clock on my skin lol!
Weekend plans: Probably do a little more gardening- my husband just built a big pergola/ trellis in our backyard next to the patio (I am so proud of him!) and we are going to plant hops to climb on it to get a little more privacy from our neighbors and create a Biergarten type feel.
Are you a sentimental person?: Yes!
The pergola/trellis sounds pretty! Fingers crossed the hops climb on it easily. I can envision that being so pretty!
Let us know how you like the Laura Mercier highlighter, Julia! It’s on my wish list.
Ooooh a pergola sounds dreamy! Hang outdoor lights on it too ?
The LM highlighter is very pretty! More subtle than I usually wear but still glow-y, and almost colorless on my medium skin so I can layer it over any of my blushes to just add a little shine.
I love string lights! We are most definitely going to hang some on the pergola top, luckily Costco has some really cute ones this summer 🙂
Ooh, just did that bha/aha peel mask last night. Almost painful! And my skin loves acids. The pergola sounds super, and hops are very decorative. Proliferative, and scrunched and do smell like beer, hoppy beer, that is. Neat, it’ll be fun to sit out there.
My skin is on the sensitive side, so I am worried about the peel stinging badly… No pain, no gain, right? 🙁
We already have a couple of hops plants growing on an arbor in another part of our yard – we picked them up at the farmer’s market while visiting some friends in Grand Rapids a few years back. They have grown fast and look great, I think our climate suits them. My husband has decided to give home-brewing a try, so we’ll hopefully be able to enjoy the hops on and off the trellis!
Oooh hops is a great idea! I need something for mine. I had a flowering vine previously but it didn’t survive the last Winter.
Haul: I bought a Yes to Coconuts mask 😛
Weekend: Not lose my shit. Been a rough week. Get food and laze. I have a massage on Sunday.
Sentimental: Depends on your meaning, but I’m very sentimental over certain things; stories and memories mostly.
Hope your massage gives you time to forget about your week a bit, Erin!
It’s been a rough week with my sister’s situation, family health, trying to get last minute rooms for a destination wedding (we had to wait for army to approve cause it’s out of country and it took 2 months to get it), and then… taking care of my sisters dog. I love him dearly but he’s a senior dog and not used to doing anything on a time table. He’s heavy, like 150 pounds so I have to help him get around too. It’s fine when my husband is home but hard to manage while working from home.
Stay strong, Erin! Fingers crossed you can find some great rooms that won’t be too pricey.
🙁 Sorry. Enjoy the massage though!
Sorry it’s been a rough week. I hope it all gets settled soon.
How can anyone not adore the magnificent Mellan? Haul: no S. Did not even use the coupon. U: men’s soap, Garnier Micellar, amazing illuminating concealer, the old UD box…how can you not haul, when there are a few shades you don’t own and it’s cheap?Straight to depotting. U never sent me the dryer/flat iron combo that I thought I ordered …twice…so maybe instore. Plus, EYHO, except you guys have these, abh mod ren and Aurora, both for points. Ulta puts S to shame for their rewards policy. Joined Amazon prime and hauled Cosrx good am low pH cleanser, manyo factory fermented with niacinamide, nr name right now, and another K skincare. Most importantly, hauled a new PCP and an Rx, for my persistent infection, which, thankfully, is not MRSA. Very YAY. Two years of that is enough… plans: had enough indulgence over the fourth that don’t really need any. Another Sat off. Maybe the woods for the dogs, but the Lyme vacs aren’t done yet, so it would be prudent to wait. Dk if I can sun expose and go in the water. Miss that ocean. Sentimental: not really, but you get highly nostalgic as you age. Kind of a subset of sentimental. So many things and people are gone, that are missed acutely. Oddly enough, this week I woke up weeping. That had never happened before. Just streaming so much it woke me up. Strange.
Wow, resisted the Sephora coupon? Nicely done!
My grandmother talks about that feeling – more people have gone than are left 🙁
In my age cohort, lots left quite early. More than 1/3 of my hs class has passed. Mostly illness. But it’s more that you miss the way things were. I think I was crying over the loss of my doctor. My childhood actually relates to a Norman Rockwell paintings, prob the last generation to do so. I used to go to Newburyport on a certain day every year. Now all of those places I visited, my German Import store, my landlords on Plum Island from my first job, the tiny makeup store, a jewelry designer I knew well, all gone. But the Clam Box in Ipswich soldiers on (if you can get near it and don’t mind a major wait..). Since 1939, I think. Only the strong survive.
I know that feeling too well, KJH. A little while back, a week, maybe 2, I was sitting here remembering a wonderful day way, way back when me and the now-ex brought our kids strawberry picking and after that, a few hours at the beach. Then, all of a sudden, the tears came pouring out. As bad as things could be between he and I, there WERE also some very wonderful memories sprinkled throughout as well. He could be horrible, he could be all that I ever needed. I can still smell the strawberries and the ocean. I can still see Sabrina’s golden ringlets bouncing as she ran, her dimples like cherrypits when she laughed. Kyle actually *calm* and contented. My Hub’s sexy af smile. Yeah. The feels.
Nancy, I wasn’t even there and I felt the love and sadness in your memory. I also know the feeling of time having taken so much and sometimes it feels like it left nothing behind.
Nice picks! Glad you found a new PCP that you like – it seems to be getting more and more difficult to do that!
i’M glad to hear it wasn’t MRSA.
Haul: Sephora stuff.
Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Minis in Pink Edition, Nude Edition and Red Edition. < I wasn't expecting these but I was hoping they would come out with more mini sets so I grabbed them! They also have a brown set, but I don't wear browns that often.
Bite Beauty Multistick deluxe sample in Mochi, and Amuse Bouche deluxe sample in Beetroot.
Laura Mercier Long Wear Foundation deluxe sample in Vanille – 0.17 oz/ 5 mL
Anastasia Beverly Hills Aurora Glow Kit.
I also avoided the Kat Von D Everlasting Flash: The Saint Set, but guess what, they fix the Canadian price by $5 less so I might still get it. lol
My Gen Beauty recap and haul videos are up. I had to split it up because I can't really render video larger than 40mins yet. (OLD computer. lol) Mut what i got is also listed in the description box of each video.
Weekend plans: Work… sleep.
Are you a sentimental person?: I can be, but I'm less sentimentally attachment to objects than the rest of my family. I'm WAY more sentimental about something I made over something I bought.
Love waterdog Mellan, if you had a deeper pool he’d probably be in it all the time. 😉
I know my cousin has a pop up above ground pools for the kids They got on clerance. Mellan would love that. lol
No doubt about that! He is pretty crazy about pools. There’s no better way to describe it as an addict who would do anything for a fix – he is obsessive about swimming. I’m actually thankful we don’t have an actual pool, because I’m not sure we could get him to calm down at all!
Mini sets are great, especially for liquid lipsticks since those are pretty pigmented and thin 🙂
Thank you for letting me know about the change in price for the KVD Saint bundle, I called and got a credit for the difference.
I thought it was overpriced from the American one. So seeing the discount after the flash sale timeline made the difference for me. 😉
Haul: Boringly, nothing this week but I overdid it (almost) last week at Ulta when I used my 20% off everything coupon AND cashed in 2000 member points!
Weekend plans: Not much since hubby is working and we’re in the middle of a mad heat wave. I stay inside, in the dark, where it’s relatively cool. We’ll probably go out to eat tonight to an air-conditioned pub with killer views of a gorgeous lake.
Sentimental: Oh yeah. Big time. I know very few people my age (late 50s) who aren’t. I don’t mean I mope around all the time, but it does seem like instead of all the obituaries being of impossibly old people, they are people my age or younger. I found out this week that my high school boyfriend died in a light plane crash. I wasn’t carrying a torch for him or anything like that, and we hadn’t spoken in almost 40 years, but still. Must have been very hard on his family. 🙁
Nice Ulta redemption there, Susan! I’m so mad – I meant to use my 20% off on the last day and forgot, lol.
Stay cool!
Haul: I didn’t BUY anything this week, but I did get to combine my makeup that was already up here in WA with what I had left behind in AZ for a year. Purged a few things, but over all I suddenly have a lot of old-is-new-again things to play with! And my NYX order arrived so I have a couple Metallic Liquid Suede colors.
Weekend plans: Was just thinking about that. Not really sure. My partner is out of town, I might just have a quiet weekend at home with the pets and some craft projects.
Am I sentimental? Sort of. Moving recently showed me I was not SUPER sentimental as my partner and I both did massive purges including throwing away old love notes! Maybe we’ll regret that some day but we were really over the clutter. I do like to keep a few items that have special memories attached, especially jewelry or other things I can wear.
Oh, I remember the feeling when you’re moving and you’re like, “I’m done!” And you just start pitching anything you can get rid of because that’s one last thing to pack, LOL.
That’s definitely where we were at, especially because we were moving cross-country, from a 3 bedroom house to a 2 bedroom apartment… So each item we had to ask ourselves, first, is this worth dragging across straight lines and second, where are we going to put it?
Haul: Tom Ford Golden Peach duo! Ahhh I’ve been wanting this since your review a couple years ago. It’s very bit as magical as I thought it would be!
Weekend plans: Driving up to Raleigh, NC to pick up my younger brother & hang for the weekend. Also going to a big Korean grocery store while here.
Are you a sentimental person?: Most certainly! Especially concerning my nephews & nieces. I’ve held onto a million drawings of pandas and killer whales from one of my nephews 🙂
You know, I know it’s Friday but I don’t believe it, lol! Weeks keep flying by.
Oh, I’m so glad the duo ended up being as lovely as you wanted it to be, Joyce! Phew!
What’s your favorite way to wear it? If I’m remembering right, I think you like the cream eyeshadow portion better? Anyways, what’s your favorite way to wear the duo or just Pink Haze?
Anyone else–how do you like to wear this product?
Yeah, I like the cream portion more – or rather, I think it’s more versatile and more “worth it” with respect to TF pricing. I do think it’s pretty all over the lid and then with the glitter shade patted on the center of the lid!
Pink Haze looks pretty topped with pink sparkling shadows. My current favorite topper is Bikini from the Jouer Skinny Dip eyeshadow palette. I like to deepen the outer edge and crease with a stronger matte orange or apricot shade.
I’m so jealous of Mellan’s pool! It’s a scorcher today.
Haul: On my trip to the UK, I got the Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation, Bourjois blush in Sienna, Max Factor Creme Puff blush in Seductive Pink, and Collection Lasting Perfection concealers in shades 1 and 2. I also picked up lots of the Barry M Sunset Gel nail polish: Do It Like a Nude (got two bottles), Dark Side of the Shroom, Plum on Baby Light My Fire, Bug a Blue, and the daylight curing top coat. I had to redo my nails on the trip and was shocked at the formula and how long-wearing it was– hence buying a bunch of colors.
Weekend plans: Just trying to get back into the swing of things. We need to grocery shop, do our laundry, and try to recover from jet lag.
Am I sentimental?: Not particularly, but there are certain books that I feel sentimental about. They seem to define a part of my life, or a certain feeling or struggle I was trying to grapple with at the time I was reading it.
It hit 118F here today, new record, haha! Stay cool!
Haul: nothing, zero, zilch, rien and niente! But for Laniege lip sleeping mask (I had a nice sized sample pot from a Sephora event which my daughter really wanted so I gave it to her) there is actually not much of anything that I even want! Weird, hunh? I think it’s that “overwhelmed by my stash” feeling that I get every few months!
Weekend plans: high maintenance friend (who is even more high maintenance since breaking BOTH her wrists in a cycling accident) is coming to stay. What we do will depend on the weather but we’ll probably go shopping for fabric (sewing is good therapy for her wrists, I would think)
Sentiment – you bet! About my kids, my family, my dog and my country – I can well up in an instant and it often takes me by surprise.
Sorry – that should have read “sentimental”.
Ooh, I was thinking of buying the Lip Sleeping Mask myself!
Good luck helping your friend this weekend!
Just be aware it has strawberries in it in case you have the wolds worst allergy like I do! I used to love strawberries!!!
Haul: I had a rather large Ulta haul, due to the 20% coupon, as I was buying for myself, my daughter and my granddaughter.
For my daughter: Tarte Shape Tape, Tarte Pro Glow Contour & Highlight Palette, and UD Vice lipsticks in Liar and Stark Naked.
For my granddaughter: (taken directly from her birthday wish list) NARS Blush in Orgasm, UD Vice lipsticks in Ravenswood and Back Talk, Stila Glitter shaodws in Diamond Dust and Smoldering Satin, Tarte Shape Tape, and Tarte Tartellate in Bloom eye shadow palette.
For myself: the Tarte Pro Glow Contour & Highlight Palettes was recommended by two sales associates, and I was so impressed by it I bought one for myself as well as my daughter. It’s the two contours, one powder and one cream, that I love the most. It’s the highlighters that my daughter is loving. The quality of the palette is very impressive, and I would recommend others to check it out. I also picked up a UD Vice lipstick in Venom, Tarte Shape Tape, Cerave PM Facial Moisturizer (3–for my husband), Philosophy Purity Cleansing Wipe, Ulta Sensitive Skin Wipes, Eucerin Q-10 Antiwrinkle Cream, and Tarte Make Believe in Yourself Palette.
The Shape Tape is a pleasant surprise. It works!
The Make Believe in Yourself palette was an impulse purchase, as it was already on sale and I’ve heard so many positive comments from Temptalia readers. It’s a sweet little summer thing! I am wearing Fairy today and have already received compliments at work on my eyes. The highlighter shade is lovely and I like the one matte shade, it goes perfectly in crease.
Weekend plans: I have had a horrible tooth ache since the 30th. Had to wait to see the dentist until July 5th due to holiday, and they discovered I have TWO abscessed molars. I am scheduled for two root canals but not until July 27. I am just trying to survive the pain for the weekend (and the next, and the next…)
Sentimental? Less so as I grow older. I was really emotional and sentimental until 40, and then I started to become less so. It’s actually a relief.
Oh Tammy – there is nothing worse than toothache! I hope you have visited the doctors for some antibiotics because your abscesses will need to be cleared up before they do the root canals. This happened to my husband once and the dentist should have given him antibiotics but didn’t. He ended up with a really bad general infection. And you know what men are like when they are sick!
Genevieve, My dentist did a pulpectomy on one of the teeth, and started me on both antibiotics and pain medication. I couldn’t tolerate the NORCO she gave me, so I switched back to Ibuprofen and acetaminophen. I had to go to the emergency room last night because the pain and swelling was just too much. They doubled my antibiotic dose and started me gave me a different pain medication. Hopefully the increase in antibiotic will help cure the infection.
Tammy – you really are in a lot of pain and agony. The antibiotics will take a day or two to work so I hope the painkillers kick in whilst that is happening. I really feel for you, there is nothing worse.
Genevieve, I have been on antibiotics now for five days and still felt like I was in so much pain last night that I wanted to go to the emergency room…again! I made it through the pain, which seemed to be untouched by both Advil and Tramadol. Oddly enough, doing repeated salt water rinses seemed to be somewhat effective. I read that the tannin in tea can help draw out the infection, so this morning I put a dampened tea bag against the site of the infection for over an hour. The site of the infection is a pus-filled pocket the same size as my molar. I suspect the pain is primarily from the pressure of the pus. I don’t have the courage to open it up and drain it. If it’s still this swollen tomorrow (Monday) maybe my dentist will lance it for me.
Don’t feel the need to comment. I know there is not much of anything to help me at this point, other than time and antibiotics. I really had no idea abscesses were this painful. I heard, but now I know.
Your granddaughter has good taste 😉
Your poor teeth! Fingers crossed the pain is bearable until you can get everything fixed up!
Tammy, I agree with Genevieve, get antibiotics. I could tell you a few horror stories about abscessed teeth and very bad outcomes but I try not to spread health hysteria (since I am a nurse) . Also, take the pain medication. Hope you can tolerate the pain and here is hoping they might have a cancellation.
Thank you, Deborah, from not sharing your stories. Every night the pain is so bad that I am certain something very dangerous is happening in my body and it’s all I can do not to go to the ER repeatedly.
I’m so sorry about your teeth. One root canal is bad enough, but two? I hope you can get through the pain, and the dentist gets a cancellation. That’s a long time to be in that kind of pain.
Thank you, Rachel. I now have one more experience in my life that will help me have empathy for others in the same situation.
Oh yikes!! July 27th???? That’s an eternity when you have pain in the teeth. So sorry to hear, hope the new meds help
Katherine, The dentist assistant called me Saturday and told me she would find a way to get me an earlier appointment. I guess having to go to the emergency room on Friday night caused them to rethink their plan. I seriously just wish they would remove my upper right jaw at this point, lol.
Hey Tammy!
I wanted ro send some positive vibes your way with regards to the root canals!
I’v had 5 of them in the last year, and need 3 more. So I 1000% know what you’re going through!!!
Haul:
– Sephora: sephora los cabos bronzer (in the smaller packaging that are on sale for like 7 bucks each. I am building my Z palette and this will be the bronzer in their along with the other color tranquil (a straight up gray) that I use as contour. I also got tarte gray amazonian brow mousse on sale, but HATE it. It works like a brow powder for me (which only goes well on places with brow hairs already, and patchy when there’s no brow hairs to begin with), and the color was way too light. I’ll be returning to my brow pencils instead.
– Colourpop: got 3 pressed shadows. A duochrome pink with gold shimmer, a light green, and a blackened brown. My z-palette needs more shades lol, although I depotted one of my zoeva palettes to stuff in it. I also got a minikit of ultra satins. I wanted to try the ultra blotted lips, but none of the colors appeal to me :/
Weekend plans: My boyfriend is coming to visit me (hope he doesn’t flake this time), and we’ll be going to DC for apartment hunting because he’s starting his first job in DC in September!
Are you a sentimental person? I freak out and panic easily but I almost never get sad. Does that count?
Have a good weekend!
Yay for new ColourPop eyeshadows!
Enjoy your boyfriend’s visit, Ziwei!
Have you figured out where you want to live once you get to DC? You have a ton of options between the city, MD and VA.
We’re mainly focusing on Arlington right now because it’s more college graduates friendly, but will look at Alexandria if Arlington is out of our price range 🙂
Oooh Mellan, I’m jealous! Haha, JK! Enjoy your pool, buddy. You deserve to have all the fun in the world! ??
Haul: Just placed 2 orders this morning, one at 10 a.m. sharp! ColourPop: Yes, Please eyeshadow palette (woohoo!!!), Snakebite Supershock Eyeshadow, 2 Blotted Lipsticks in Bee’s Knees and Lolly. At Mac: Ionized Iris Lipstick, Oh Baby and Lustrewhite Lipglass, with a free lipstick in Lust Extract. At Ulta earlier this week, I bought the very last UD Abstract lipstick at a local store, and a liter of my favorite shampoo, Matrix Biolage Moringa Oil Blend shampoo. Plus, more stuff for wearing my hair natural that other curly’s have recommended: BTZ Noodle Head Curling Creme (returned the Bed Head one because it felt like Elmer’s glue!) and Herbal Essences Curl Boosting Mousse. For my eczema ridden hands; Shea Moisture African Black Soap Eczema & Psoriasis Body Lotion.
Weekend plans: Hair, nails (probably?), and Sunday meeting. Other than that, just waiting on our Monsoon impatiently! Sick of 110° and above almost every day for 3 weeks. Christine, I sure hope your parents are doing alright with our lousey weather, because if one isn’t used to this, it’s really brutal.
Are you sentimental: Unequivocally; YES. But I always push it down because I don’t want to get overwhelmed by my feelings. Well, unless it’s those precious memories of my children and my granddaughters. Or of being down at the beach in years gone by.
LOL! He was in it four times today with my dad taking him out, despite my dad dying of heat every time, LOL.
My dad has been hoping for some storms, and it looks like he might just be in luck tonight 🙂
Christine, I think the T-storms were seriously teasing us last night! Kept thinking we’d get something Friday night, but today it *really* looks ominous out here. Hoping your Dad can get to see what our monsoon storms are like before they leave.
The LAST Abstract? Lucky you!
IKR, Tammy?!? Well at that particular store, it was their last! Next day at a different Ulta, I did spot one more. Now that I’ve worn it out and about, receiving compliments, I’m thinking that I should’ve grabbed that one up, too!
Wow, what a big drinking bowl 😉
*Haul- Huda Lip Strobes in Foxy (love), Saucy (love), Moody (bold but very dark), and Fearless (huge disappointment, think I got a defective batch -it’s a pretty color, but it’s LOT more purple than Christine’s and no gold shimmer 🙁 but might keep since it pairs beautifully with BITE Gold Gloss). Jouer Rose Quartz (OMG, can’t believe this came back in stock at Beautylish!! Feels like velvet, beautiful light cool pink with strong but finely milled white shimmer, beautiful), UD Lipstick in Scorch (love!), UD Eyeliner in Alkaline ( mine is a dark brownish purple, but other batches look more burgundy wine red, it’s usable but would prefer to be more red), Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer SPF 15 ( re-purchased, best primer for summertime as it’s SO lightweight, it feels almost like water/serum, and the SPF is a plus too)
*Weekend–well, I’ve been on staycation all week – relax, nap, catch up on chores, play with makeup, maybe watch some recorded shows, read book, IDK but it’s nice not to do much for once!
*Only sentimental for certain things —like the neighborhood I grew up in, which has changed so much
Ha, ha, ha! That’s what my dad said, LOL, about Mellan’s pool!
Katherine, I am tempted by Rose Quartz, but I am hesitant because often those cooler, lighter shades don’t look great on my medium warm skin?
I know what you mean!! I’m light to light medium ( NC15-20) but have yellow undertones, and have had a hard time pulling off light cool pink highlighters with white shimmer. They can look harsh, frosty, and ashy against my skintone. And since I can’t find any Jouer highlighters in stores, I can’t swatch in person. So what I did was look for you tube videos for bloggers who had similar skin tones, to see what Rose Quartz looked like on them. Maybe you can do the same?
Haul: Bh Cosmetics — Supernova Palette; Waterproof Lip Liner in Glory, Endora, Samantha, Sandy, Muse, Brazen, and Retro; pencil sharpener. I was supposed to get the Wild & Alluring Palette, but they messed up and sent me two Galaxy Chic palettes instead (which I didn’t order). I contacted them with the error. They’ve always been really good about fixing mistakes in the past. Tarte sale — ROTS Vol. 2; On the Prowl Magnetic Palette. Other — Physician’s Formula Sexy Booster Va-Va-Voom Mascara (BOGO 1/2 off); Ponds makeup wipes.
Weekend plans: Nothing special.
Are you a sentimental person? Just where my kids and hubby are concerned. Otherwise, not really.
Let us know how the Supernova palette is!
Sure thing!
Haul makeup forever singles in poppy magma ochre pink. First trio of mufe shadows soooo in love. Tokyo milk tainted love handcreme and bobbi Brown essentials 500 point perk
Weekend plans sadly only cleaning lol
Sentimental. Nah totally coldhearted.
LOL! Totally coldhearted is certainly one way to put it 😛
Love your choices in the MUFE shadows! Do you combine them for one look?
Haul: TOO MUCH STUFF! Two of the NARS Velvet Matte lip duos (Train Bleu/ Intriguing and Damned/ Walkyrie) they had at Sephora as well as two single NARS Velvet Satin lip pencils in Lodhi and Yu. I also got some point perks- a mini NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Lets Go Crazy, a mini Givenchy Rouge Interdit Satin Lipstick in #23 Fuchsia-In-The-Know, and a mini Laura Mercier Velour Lovers Lip Colour in Devotion, as well as the Benefit Dandelion promo code set (to give to my sister).
I also cracked over the Marc Jacobs secret sale and got a few things- The High Life in both the Essential Hues and Coveted Colors, the High and Fine- 4-Piece Petites Waterproof Eyeliner Collection, the Le Marc Liquid Lip Creme in Slow Burn (not on sale but got me up to free shipping), and a free full-size Highliner Gel Eye Crayon in O(vert).
Yesterday I also swung by my nearest Nordstrom and managed to “pre-order” the Charlotte Tilbury sale set with the lipsticks in Between the Sheets (matte), Kiss Chase (satin), and the lip pencil in Pink Venus (thanks Renee for the heads up to get them ahead of time!)
Weekend plans: nada
Are you a sentimental person?: I try not to be as my family is the opposite of sentimental so it just becomes disappointing if I am.
Nice NARS haul, Anne! Glad you were able to pick up the Givenchy reward – that one seemed like a good deal!
Anne, There’s never too much stuff when it’s a makeup haul, lol!
Haul: Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner in Caviar Ink, Sephora Contour eye pencil in Tiramisu, UD oil free setting spray.
Weekend plans: Hopefully visit Whole Foods to get some organic flour for baking.
Are you a sentimental person?: Yes, absolutely. I’m a typical Pisces, an introvert and an empath. I’m an over-feeler. Lol.
Tiramisu is an amazing eyeliner!
Happy 400!!
I bought a couple of the new Benefit Booing! Products, hope they work out. I returned the Urban Decay Naked perfume, it just wasn’t the scent for me. I did purchase both the new Kat Von D perfumes, as I so so much loved the originals! I also purchased Nest Paradise perfume, I think this was what I wanted the UD Naked to smell like. I purchased the Kat Von D Saint bundle when it came out on Wednesday, so excited! I returned Natasha Demons Sunset palette that I had been trying over this past month, I tried so hard to love it!! It was so dry and chalky, nothing worked!! I also received my 2000 point Sephora reward of the 200ml La Vie Est Belle perfume, it arrived broken to my house, im so so sad about it!!
No weekend plans yet.
I do believe that I’m sentimental.
🙂
Thanks, Karen 😀 Crazy how long this weekly haul thing has been going on!
Better to return than suffer such a $$ palette!
Have fun, Mellan!
Haul:
MAC – CCO:
Faintly Fabulous Mineralize Skinfinish
Midnight Snack Fluidline
Spelldazzling nail polsih
Fotos y Recuerdos eyeshadow (they had the whole Selena collection for 50% off! This was the one eyeshadow I don’t remember getting so I picked this up).
More Picture Polish and Ella Mila nail polishes and huge nail vinyl and stamping plate order just came in. Very excited to start playing with these.
Weekend plans: Today I sent off 2 boxes to Project Beautyshare and have been organizing my collection (it has gotten a bit untidy again) and volunteering tonight at the animal sanctuary. Saturday is tidying up, laundry and cooking. Sunday I’m picking my niece up from my parents’ house. She is going to spend the week with us and I will be putting my nail haul and all those masks I bought to good use.
Are you a sentimental person?: I think my answer would have been very different 10 years ago. As I’m getting older, it’s more nostalgia than sentimentality (not splitting hairs – to me, nostalgia is general and more about a time period where as sentimental is about specific things and physical reminders/souvenirs and an emotional attachment to them), but I am sentimental about my accomplishments and the projects I’ve seen to completion. I have a box of trinkets and letters and the like tucked away referencing significant events in my life. I don’t pull it out and reminisce but I do add to it occassionally and I do like knowing I have it.
Nice job getting things together for Project Beauty Share! That is so awesome of you to do 🙂
Thank you for spreading the word about Project Beauty Share. I keep things for them until I have enough to fill one of those flat rate post office boxes and then off it goes.
I’m so glad you told me about them! I have a flat rate box set aside in my office and everytime I see something I haven’t used or don’t like, I grab it and put it in the box. It’s a relief because I don’t feel pressure to have to make it work or “oh shoot, I have to start using that”. Whenever I used to return makeup, it always bothered me that it just went into a bin and would get thrown out and no one else could buy or use it. I understand this for hygienic reasons, but it still bothers me that someone else can’t get the benefit of it. Donating to Project Beauty Share is a win-win for me – it keeps my collection tidy and someone else will get the benefit of something that doesn’t work for me, so no waste!
Haul:
Summer foundation switch to Chanel Le Teint Ultra Tenue in shade #40. This shade should will get me through the slight darkening I get from swimming outdoors. I have not used this foundation before, and I like it. It does give good coverage, yet I look like “me,” if you know what I mean.
Chanel blush in Golden Sun. the shade is a few years old, and where have I been! I tried it on a lark when I was in Paris and was totally surprised at how it looked on me. I bet this shade is chameleon-like on everyone. On me, it gives a lovely flush that looks so natural, even though the blush looks very neutral-brown in the pan. I don’t know how it does it. Even my husband says it looks nice. 🙂 I’d say try it on if you’re in the vicinity of a Chanel counter.
Weekend:
Been so busy “recovering” from vacation, I hope this weekend is quiet. Swims, groceries, pups, and a dinner with friends.
Sentimental:
I was when younger. I think one changes through the decades, and I find that sentimentality comes up for me far less often. True and deep love like watching my vids of my once little children fills my heart, but I don’t feel sentimental for those days–nor do I want to go back. I let the river of life move me forward, and that’s the place I put my heart and soul.
LindaP, did you just get back from Paris? If so, would you mind sharing about what you saw like you did last year?
Fingers crossed the Chanel foundation keeps working out 🙂
Golden Sun is a beauty!
Linda, I am going to wear NARS Takeover today, as it is a slightly darker warmer dupe of Golden Sun. I will check out Golden Sun on my next trip to Chicago.
Enjoy your quiet weekend of recovery.
Haul: I haven’t bought anything in store or received any package this week, but I placed two orders. One at Sephora, where I bought the Becca Opal flashes Jade highlighter, and got the Benefit gwp, the other at Nordstrom where I got the new Lancome pressed highlighters in the peachy shade.
Weekend plans: I’m leaving for Las Vegas tomorrow for Cosmoprof that I will attend for work. I checked the weather forecast to see what I should pack and I’m still in shock… Might need to find one of those snow rooms in a nice hotel spa because I can’t survive in 115 degrees! I might need a portable pool like Mellan’s!
Are you a sentimental person? Not at all. Moving internationally 3 times taught me that objects are just things, and more often than not they hold you back. There isn’t a single thing I own that I couldn’t get rid of, except for my wedding ring.
I understand how you feel Lulle – I would be in total meltdown in that temperature!
I was excited to go but now I’m really not!
How are the new Lancome highlighters? I was tempted but they look so same-y to everything else out there.
It was 118 here today 😉
I haven’t received it yet, but the available shades look very similar to the ones of their Glow Subtil cream highlighters, which I love, or the more recent liquid pens they did. But the shade names are different this time! I almost bought the lighter shade, but I already have multiple champagne or pale beige highlighters so I decided to go for the peach.
Haul: Three serums from Timeless – Coenzyme Q10, Matrixyl 3000, and Matrixyl S6 plus the HA Spray with Matrixyl 3000 + Cucumber Extract. I bought the spray only to bring the order up to $75 in order to take advantage of the July 4 50% off promo.
Week-end plans: None. Maybe I will do some pre-vacation cleaning so that my friend who will be cat sitting is not disgusted.
Am I sentimental? No.
Yep Lesley, that’s my place at the moment and I don’t have cats!
Are you a big fan of Timeless for skincare, Lesley?
This is my first time with it. I will let you know after a few weeks. So far it’s been easy to use, i.e. not tacky after a few minutes and no stinging.
Mellon loves his pool! A little wag of the tail, a drink – he is happy. Enjoy your time with your parents Christine.
Haul: My twin sister bought me a Besame (a niche cosmetic company) lipstick in Tango Red – it is a vibrant red/orange shade and although it is matte, it’s very creamy. I love it.
Apart from that, nothing really.
Weekend plans – at the moment there is nothing on the horizon, but I do have a date with my vacuum cleaner, washing machine and iron. Oh – and watching the Tour De France!
Sentimental Person – No, I don’t think I am really either. Maybe sometimes.
Actually, I am very sentimental about my children and grandchildren!
Thanks, Genevieve! It’s been great having them here for the last week.
Besame seems like a great brand, though I’ve only tried a few products from them!
Haul:
Ulta: Naked 2 Palette, Carli Bybel Deluxe Palette, MAC Painterly Paint Pot, Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Bahama (purchased before my decision to stop buying Nars), Dose of Colors Eyedeal Duos in Disco and Shell, Dose of Colors Liquid Lipstick in Campfire, Dose of Colors Eye Shadow palette in Marvelous Mauves and several sheet masks.
Beautilish:
Inglot Duraline x 2 and Natasha Denona Eye Guard.
Weekend plans: Not much. It is so hot here in Montana. We got to 109 here today and no one has air conditioning because we don’t normally need it. My poor kitty can barely move she is so warm. So, we are staying hydrated and watching for forest fire.
Are you sentimental: This is a hard one to answer. I am very empathetic. As a nurse you have to have empathy or your care will only meet the physical needs of your patients and not their emotional needs. However, you cannot be so empathetic that you are unable to function. Are empathy and sentiment the same? I don’t think so. I am sentimental about many things. Things I have been given by my grandparents and great-grandparents. I am sentimental about holidays and am very traditional in celebrating holidays. However I sublimate my sentimentality as I am the oldest of three children and my sister, who is the middle child, is sentimental and emotional to the point of not being able to function. So, I reign my feelings in to support her. It is what we nurses do. Sometimes, I don’t get to deal with my feelings and emotions and everything will come to a head and I just have to go away by myself and recoup.
Oh my goodness, 109 with no air conditioning – that must have been brutal! Hope it cools down.
It sounds like your patients are very lucky to have you as their nurse, Deborah!
Haul:
Target: Soap & Glory body creams and red lipstick.
Sephora: La Vie est Belle rollerball, Sephora Charcoal wipes, more Sephora sleeping masks, Nars Let’s Go Crazy lip pencil (100-pt perk).
Other: Nars e/s in Nymphea, Llasa, Cairo. Maison Margiela Lipstick On samples. Chanel Beige samples. MAC F&B in N3 for summer, Le Labo Bergamote 22 rollerball decant.
How do you like the Charcoal wipes?
The charcoal wipes haven’t arrived yet, hopefully early this coming week. Will let you know in a few days! I was intrigued by the impressive reviews, just had to try them.
Haul: Silk Naturals Cloud face powders in Golden and Untinted (blur powders), also Palace (NARS Taj Mahal clone) and Cider blushes, as well as Shell eyeshadow (UD Foxy clone). That’s it for the makeup and skin care.
Weekend plans: Working from home, unfortunately, but it’s mostly because I have 3 days of vacation this coming week and I’m getting caught up to prevent problems while I’m gone. So … yay me! 🙂
Are you a sentimental person?: No, with a few, very rare exceptions.
