($20.00 for 4.2 oz.) has been my go-to night time cleanser for the past three months, and I’ve really enjoyed using it. I’ll definitely be keeping it in my to-go-back-to bin (as I rotate through to test out new products, I hold onto ones I really like). Earlier this year, Bare Escentuals rolled out a full range of skincare that has been in the works for years, and the cleanser is the first product I figured I’d try out (I am also anxious to review their Purely Nourishing Cream–which I loved–but I keep forgetting to photograph the jar!).
It’s a rich, foaming cleanser that is activated by applying a pearl-sized amount onto wet skin. One thing I love about this product is just how little you need–seriously, a pea-sized amount is more than you really need. It’s a really thick, rich and creamy cleanser that goes on easily and is easy to move across the skin. There is a subtle herbal-ish scent (it’s not strong at all nor does it linger) that seems due to the ingredients (not fragrance, as it is free from synthetic fragrances, as well as parabens, sulfates, petrochemicals, and the like).
My skin always feels really clean without being tight or dry, and it feels so gentle the entire time. Foaming cleansers can sometimes leave skin feeling stripped, but I never experienced that with this cleanser, which I used even when my skin was drier than normal. The instructions actually say to avoid the eye area, but being impatient as I am, I didn’t read the instructions before using it the first few times, so I used it on my eyes, but I had no ill effects–no stinging, burning, cloudiness, etc. Not that I would endorse using the product that way, but if you accidentally get a little near your eye, it shouldn’t be the end of the world. It was able to break down all my face makeup, including medium coverage foundation.
I’m totally surprised at the affordability of the range, though, and in particular, this cleanser, because seriously, this tube of cleanser will last me a solid year, if not longer. My tube doesn’t even look like I’ve used it, and I’ve used it nearly every night for three months! Oh, and for Clarisonic users, this cleanser works fabulously with it!

Thank you for posting the ingredients! I love the way this cleanser sounds. I don’t need my cleanser to make a bunch of outlandish claims or contain tons of special ingredients- I just want it to clean my face well without making it dry. I’ll have to check this one out.
I totally felt like that – this was a gentle, no-frills cleanser that just worked well, felt great, and the price/quantity is so on point!
I’ve been using this nightly as well and it’s amazing, I really love it. I used to use Shiseido’s extra gentle cleansing foam and this is definitely a lot better. Doesn’t leave my skin feeling tight or dry at all!
Good to know this cleanser works well with the clarisonic. I love things that aren’t to complicated and don’t make insane claims. I think I might give this a try after I use up my CeraVe (though I am very happy with that!)
Thanks for this review. Even though I already own this product and love it, I’m happy to see you giving it more exposure. It really is great! I must’ve bought it over 2 months ago and it doesn’t even seem like I’ve used it at all. It lasts forever!
Sounds great! When I’m in the States I will definitely look for this cleansing foam and the rest of the skincare line. I like my cleansers foamy and non-drying so, sounds like a product for me ^^
This couldn’t be timed more perfectly! I just ran out of my Purity cleanser and wanted to try something new. This is an awesome price… this will probably be my new cleanser!
Oh, and thanks for the note about the Clarisonic, I was just going to ask that but happened to catch the last sentence :).
That’s the thing I don’t get about cleansers, especially the ones you use with water – how do they expect you to “avoid eye area” when you are rinsing the product off? Even if you are careful not to wash around your eye area, the product is bound to get near your eyes when you rinse it off!
Thank you for the review! I will definitely be buying this to replace the dove foaming face wash that seems to be discontinued 🙁 I need something that lathers but I also don’t want stripping (it gives me breakouts) so i am excited to try this!

I’m not doing grades on products like skincare, fragrance, or hair care right now – for fragrance, I don’t really like the idea of a grade, but for now, I’m still determining whether there is a good metric for them (the one I use for other reviews really doesn’t apply for these categories).

I’m definitely still playing around with possible metrics for other categories, but the problem just gets to be whether having multiple rating systems is good, more confusing than good, or really not as useful because perhaps there is less to judge it on that breaks it out. I look at skincare and think about what I look for to review – does it do it what it says, which is really product/efficacy, but I feel like there needs to be some kind of further breakout (like with color cosmetics – pigmentation, longevity, texture, etc.). Don’t really need longevity in a cleanser but moisturizer would be nice! I like how the rating system breaks out certain qualities of a good product, rather than just lumping it all into a quality metric like efficacy, but I struggle trying to find generic enough metrics to apply to say all of skincare or hair care. For fragrance, all I can think of is longevity!
I really disliked the first liquid cleanser BE came out with that did not foam (and not due to its non foaming action at all – it just did not get me clean even with my Clarisonic). So no thinking I will try this. I tend to stick to non foaming cleansers. I really like Dr. Perricone Nutrative Cleanser – all but for the price that is. For a deep cleanser I like Peter Thomas Roth (the orange one without the beads in it). It has some acids in it – cannot use it all the time however as it breaks the corners of my mouth down if I use it for a week on going.
