Dior Expose High Fidelity Eyeshadow Palette Review, Photos, Swatches

Dior Expose High Fidelity Eyeshadow Palette ($62.00 for 0.24 oz.) is a new, permanent eyeshadow palette that features earth-toned neutrals. I spotted in on Selfridges last week and purchased mine there, but it’s now available through Dior’s website and some of the accompanying new palettes are at Sephora (but not all). It features a new formula that’s supposed to have “highly pigmented” color with “spectacular staying power.” The formula was better than some of the past iterations from Dior, though it was still more semi-opaque to opaque in coverage but had seven to eight-hour wear. The big difference that I noticed was in the texture; it was firmer (but not stiff) in the pan and had less dustiness than some of the past formulations.

Expose #1
Expose #1 is a light-medium, peachy gold with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that applied evenly to bare skin, and I was able to build up the coverage to opaque by applying a second layer. The consistency was smooth, firm but not stiff, and blendable on the lid. This shade wore well for seven and a half hours on me.

Expose #2
Expose #2 is a bright, white gold with warm, yellow undertones and a pearly sheen. It had good color payoff, though it was shy of full coverage, that had a soft, smooth, and blendable texture that wasn’t dusty or too firm in the pan. The color lasted nicely for seven and a half hours on me.

Expose #3
Expose #3 is a medium-dark, diryt gold with warm, olive undertones and a pearly sheen. The pigmentation was fantastic, while the consistency was smooth, denser (but not too dense or too thick, so it still layered and blended well with the other finishes in the palette), and easy to work with on the lid. It started to fade on me after eight hours of wear.

Expose #4
Expose #4 is a light-medium yellow with warm undertones and a soft, pearl sheen. It had nearly opaque color payoff, and the eyeshadow was smooth but not dusty, so it did not sheer out too readily. The eyeshadow was still blendable on the lid, as the texture was soft and smooth to the touch, but kept its intensity. This shade wore well for eight hours on me.

Expose #5
Expose #5 is a dark brown with warm, reddish undertones and a satin sheen. The eyeshadow was richly pigmented, and it applied evenly and smoothly to bare skin. It was slightly firmer in the pan, but I did not have any difficulty applying or blending out the eyeshadow on my lid. There was slight, visible fading after eight hours of wear.

I am glad this scored well because it seems like quite a while since a Dior 5 pan (especially a permanent one) has performed this well. I’m not crazy about #4 – it looks sort of jaunice-y – but all the others, especially that middle shade, are beauties.
I know! I’m pretty happy with how this palette turned out but even happier to see it from Dior, lol!
Wow, it’s been ages since I’ve seen a Dior quint score A- ! I had almost given up all hope. Uh oh, lots of pretty yellow golds here. My fave is #3. Think I will need to swatch this in store, so hope the retailers will carry them
It does feel like it’s been awhile!
WOW! Those new dior eyeshadows looks much better than the old ones.
They are promising!
Surprisingly nice! I really like how this worked out on your lids and came together to give an eye look that surpassed by far most of Dior’s previous palettes of late. I’m definitely looking forward to checking out the rest of your reviews on these quints, having already seen how well they work!
The palette seemed to come together easily on the lid, too!
#1 and #5 are the only ones I would wear and truly like. So it’s a pass for me. But I’m glad this is better compared to older palettes!
I’m hopeful for the other ones now!
Glad to see the Dior quad’s formula has improved. I have quite a few of the older palettes which are hit and miss. This one looks very nice with a couple of less common shades, though not really my colors. I’m most curious about 157 Magnify.
Here’s hoping Magnify is at least as good!
That looks really good! Buildable pigmentation is fine for me, and the colors are vibrant with interesting contrasts.
I totally agree – sometimes buildable pigmentation is easiest!
Christine, I love your eye look very pretty! I am glad this received good reviews it is disappointing when a high end makeup brand doesn’t live up to par.
Thank you, Maria!
I know I’m old(er) :), but the first Dior quint I ever bought was in the Harvard Coop in ~1984. It was one of my first high end purchases, and it was gorge. Soft spot in my heart.
Granted, there have been good offerings since that prehistoric time, but for a very long time Dior quints have been a miss. This looks right up my alley, and what I’m looking for (the golds). Will test it out, I hope, in person.
Aww! Do you still have it for nostalgia purposes or did you finish it?
Long gone, sadly. I remember losing it in a move, and by then it was discontinued. 🙂
At last, a really decent Dior palette – maybe the brand has turned the eyeshadow corner! For me, there is one too many golds in this palette (would have preferred a different shade to the left hand one) and the brown could have been a shade darker. But it doesn’t matter – it’s a good one.
Beautiful eye look Christine.
Aw, thanks Genevieve!
A very pretty quint, it’s an earth-toned palette that isn’t too warm or muddy, I could see myself wearing it.
I agree – it’s brighter (perhaps from the shimmer) and doesn’t muddy!
That is one pretty palette and the central gold is gorgeous. I rarely go for warm toned palettes, but am imagining I could pull this off as a fair neutral olive. But maybe I’m kidding myself.
Too warm for me but I’m sure this will sell like fucking gangbusters.
