Make Up For Ever Aqua Liner Launches

Make Up For Ever Aqua Liner Launches

Staying true to our belief of never having to sacrifice color for performance, MAKE UP FOR EVER introduces another vibrant addition to our award-winning Aqua range – new Aqua Liner. This eye-catching, highly pigmented new collection of waterproof liquid eye liner was developed to outperform even in the most extreme environments. Aqua Liner was created to provide make up artists with the ultimate liquid liner that boasts precision, a 100% waterproof formula and a bold assortment of colors.

As the official make up sponsor of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim in Miami, MAKE UP FOR EVER put artists to work at the top 2011 swimwear shows testing Aqua Liner on models backstage. Their challenge was to create bold, show-stopping make up looks that wouldn’t melt or fade while on the runway under hot lights, performing in the water, or in the humid Miami climate. The end result? Aqua Liner guaranteed intense weather, tear and sweat-proof color that lasted through the shows.

Aqua Liner is formulated with acrylic copolymer, a hydrophobic macromolecule that forms a flexible film to lock water out. It contains 50% more polymers than traditional eyeliner formulations to ensure a long-lasting, waterproof result, as well as essential amino acids derived from apple juice for high-color intensity and bold pay-off.

Available in 15 vibrant shades with matte, iridescent and diamond finishes, Aqua Liner can be used to match all moods and styles. The long and dense, yet flexible applicator is designed like a make up brush handle to ensure easy application, with a specialized foam tip that delivers the ideal amount of texture for drawing an ultra precise line with a buildable result. Aqua Liner goes on evenly and dries quickly for a look that lasts all day and all night long.

Make Up For Ever’s National Educator, Jessie Powers, gives a lesson in Liquid Liner 101 with these four steps:

1. Draw a thin line of liquid liner centered on the upper lash line directly above the pupil.

2. To create the liner “tail”, choose the end point of your tail slightly above and outside the natural lash line. Then, with your eyes open and focused forward, draw a line from the tail’s end point down toward the outer corner of the lash line.

3. Next, with the eyes open and focused forward, draw a line from the end of the tail connecting it to the liner on the center of the upper lash line. Continue these strokes until the tail is completely filled in.

4. Finally, draw a liner from the inner corner of the upper lash line to the middle of the upper lash line, connecting the two sections.

Sweatproof eyeliner? I’m quite excited because I’m looking for this kind of liner ever since my liner’s been starting to smudge because of this ridiculous humid weather my area’s having.

I really love a lot of the MUFE products, I just wish they weren’t so expensive. My kit would be full of MUFE if I could afford lots of it. If they had a discounted set of all the liners together then I would immediately get that.

Ruth Avatar

These look like Illamasqua precision ink/MAC superslick liquid liners. Wonder if I’ll like them as much. Never tried a MUFE product, might have to for these! x

I’m curious to see how well these perform and compare to Stila’s Sparkle Waterproof Liquid Eye Liners. Course I’m a sucker for eyeliners and eye pencils in so many fun colors! 🙂

mac superslick liquid liners
illamasqua precision ink liners
stila sparkle waterproof liquid eye liner
laura mercier liquid eyeliner
Bobbi Brown Glitter Liquid Eyeliner
MUFE aqua liners

these are all exactly the same formula, same packaging, most of the time exactly the same color! so much for creativity and originality!!!!

MUFE doesn’t do original or LE items because they are all about fundamentals. Any any good brand with professionals in mind are all about the fundamentals. MAC and a lot of brand moved to LE because it entices consumers to buy and drive there sales.

Formula wise I have not doubt that these will be similar to superslick liquid liners. Most liquid lines have the same ingredients, each brand uses variants on how much of each ingredient is used in the formula. Also other brand will ad “Beneficial Ingredients” to things that have no or worse impact on how the formula preforms.

I like the MAC superslick but found it impossible to get off my lash line. I used in stead the weaker but still waterproof NYX Studio Effect Liquid Liner. It preforms the same just easier to remove.

Hello lulee,

I was just wondering how you came by the knowledge that these liners have “all exactly the same formula”? Did you compare the ingredient lists of all 6 liners? I’m quite interested.

Nellie Avatar

These are not the exact same packaging as those liners, if the photo on Sephora.com is accurate. I certainly hope they aren’t the same formula — the MAC ones gave my eye cysts, so I haven’t tried the dupe liners from the other brands.

Plus, there are far more colors in these liners.

Oooo, this is exciting! I’m loving MUFE more and more as I try out different products. And as much as I try, I can’t love gel eyeliners like everyone else. I find them MUCH harder to use than liquid liners, so these are right up my alley.

Sari Avatar

I am so excited for these ! I ‘ve been looking for more coloured liquid liners outside of Urban Decay but no other brands really have a huge range of them , so I can ‘t wait !

Crissylex Avatar

I wonder if the applicator is the same as Mac’s Superslick and
Stila’s Glittering Eyeliner. The colors are wider in range
than Mac’s or Stila’s. Can’t wait for your review.

Sylvia Avatar

These are GORGEOUS and I can not wait to try them. I love that they have come out with very bright colors as well (compared with the MAC, Illamasqua, etc liquid liners which don’t have as much variation in color). I am keen to see if/when you review them, if they’re similar to those MAC and Illamasqua formulas (I recall your post from before about how they were the same product essentially.. hah!)
If they are the same product but in different colors, I think I would still purchase them because I adore the colors MUFE has and I am really happy with my MAC Superslick liners!

L Avatar

Can’t wait to see your review of these! I like the brush-style applicator (as opposed to the pen style that so many brands are using) and have been using Revlon’s Colorstay for a while now, but I’m wondering if this will be better.

Cassie Avatar

Ok I called the New York MUFE they other day to put an order in for these and the girl on the phone told me they would not be available till May! She did not mention they would be available on Sephora. Does anyone know if they are available at MUFE now too and she just had the info wrong? Because I have a discount through MUFE and I’m going to be so irritated if they are one of the zillion other companies that sell out and let the professionals THAT THE LINE WAS CREATED FOR be the second/last to get the product!!!

Missa Avatar

Hopefully you compare these to MAC’s Superslick Liquid Liners, because those did nothing for me. They flaked off and couldn’t get too close to my lash line cause they would clup and get stiff. So hoping these will be alot better.

Christine Avatar

Just ordered 2..Gold and the black with *sparkles* I also used the oppurtunity to try out some of the aqua eyeshadows for the first time I cannot wait to get this haul its gonna be sweeeet

Trish Avatar

I picked up Lagoon Green and Electric Purple today and OMG they apply like a DREAM! Way better than the MAC Superslick liners and they don’t irritate my eyes. They are pricey but worth it. If you have oily lids like I do something like this is worth the extra cash.

Kaz Avatar

These are really good waterproof eyeliners but the only disappointing thing about them is that it’s not as dark as the MAC one (which is now discontinued I think) and it flakes so badly when it comes into contact with a little bit of water and rubbing 🙁
