Giorgio Armani Lust Red (2) Eyes to Kill Intense Eyeshadow Review, Photos, Swatches
Giorgio Armani Lust Red (2) Eyes to Kill Intense Eyeshadow
Intensity Maximized with Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Intense
Giorgio Armani Lust Red (2) Eyes to Kill Intense Eyeshadow ($32.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a rich, blackened violet burgundy with ruby red, blue-violet, and violet shimmer. It’s a luxurious texture–so soft and smooth and almost feels like velvet. This is a product that lives up to its claims–it wears all day without budging, creasing, or fading–and blends as well on its own as it does with other eyeshadows (or on top of an eyeshadow base).
Giorgio Armani describes the Eyes to Kill Intense formula as neither powder nor cream but a hybrid that creates a “smooth, lasting color film” that can be applied wet or dry. Giorgio Armani explains, “Each shade is intensified with a second pigment for a multi-dimensional effect. In just one swoop, create a wet, shimmering smokey eye … Base color covers eyelid, and second pigment adds drama to the contour.”
The texture of these feels almost like a cream eyeshadow, but it has the thinness of a powder eyeshadow while retaining some of the blendability of the hybrid cream-powder eyeshadow. It also works well with other eyeshadow (see this look using #6). The intensity is insane–whether you use it wet or dry, they pretty much look the same. It’s almost like a really dense loose powder that’s been pressed down, because if you dig at it, it loosens.
Though pricey, each shade comes with 0.14 oz. worth of product, which is a hefty amount (normal eyeshadow averages around 0.05 oz., no matter the price). The only aspect I didn’t love was the little black stopper inside the jar (once you unscrew the black lid), because my longer fingers felt awkward grabbing it (so I just unscrew it upside down so it falls into the cap).

OMG I neeeeeeeeeeeeeeed it! It’s fabulous!
Still loving that formula, even if that color is way too dark for me to wear!
So pretty. It’s been a while since an eyeshadow has impressed me!
I think the name says it all “Eyes to kill”. LOVE IT!
These are amazing!!! Can’t wait to get my hands on ALL the colours.
Wow that’s so beautiful, I love it!
Is the right-hand swatch wet?
Left 🙂
That’s INTENSE
Seems to be a much more pigmented MAC Beauty Marked or NARS Night Fever which is AWESOME!
Absolutely! I was just going to say that this is what Beauty Marked should have looked like.
Wow, love this.
Majorly in lust with this. <3
WOW…talk about an INTENSE colour. When I read “red”, I thought “nah – not for me” but then I saw the colour and it’s gorgeous, though I’ll pass on it – I really do want the first one from Armani that you reviewed though!
I literally just yelled “WOW”. That is unbelievably gorgeous.
That looks GORGEOUS. Wow.
Good Lord, I wish I could afford these…does anyone need his lawn mowed?
what about mac’s reflects blackened red or whatever it’s called, is that similar at all?
Kind of, but this is more multi-colored in the shimmer, not glittery (smooth, more metallic), and way, way more pigmented/solid. The glitter has more of a sheer base.
That’s insanely gorgeous.
I would never ever be able to pull off such a dark color. But WOW, it’s amazing!
Awesome color! This definitely seems like an original. I feel like I see the same colors all the time, but this is really, really cool.
WOW. that’s all. just WOW.
Oh my god… I just can’t hit the “LOVE IT” button hard enough!!
This is what I always wanted colours like Mac’s Beauty Marked to look like. It doesn’t just turn into a smudgy soft black on your eyes- it REALLY keeps it’s sparkly colour. Excellent swatches, Christine- exactly how it looked in use for me.
That eyeshadow is swoonworthy. Seriously.
That is unbelievably gorgeous. I’d love it as eyeliner shadow!
Oh my gosh that is beautiful, I need it!!
Gorgeous!!! *_*
ugh! im in lust!
Oh. My. Gosh. Love
That. Is. GORGEOUS. I’d love to see a look with this 🙂
This would make an amazing liner, besides using it as is 😀 I want them all, they are so intense!!
My goodness!!! This looks like what MAC Beauty Marked looks like in the pan, but the payoff is 1000x better! It’s a bit pricey for my test but I definitely want this.
I.CAN’T.BREATH… THIS IS JUST BREATH TAKING!! I CAN’T BELIEVE WHAT MAKE UP CAN DO TO A GIRL.
That is amazing!!!!!
I must have this! It’s really beautiful and unique. I don’t like that it’s so expensive but hey, once in while you can just ignore it.
These GA eyeshadows are gonna make me broke! I love the richness and pigmentation from your swatches!
Never spent this much on a single eyeshadow, but…I have to, for this. Wow. Fantastic.
Christine, do you think these shadows could work as liners? This color is amazing (as is #6) and I think it might work well with my green eyes, but I could probably only use it as a liner.
They could!
Gorgeous! I wonder how easily it would convert into a liner?
Thank God this is permanent. I just ordered some makeup online and have spent my budget for makeup for awhile… but I know this is going to be the first thing I am getting in my next makeup haul. I am totally ready to wear this all over my eye for a real gothy rocker look… and I am a very neutral girl. It is extremely pricey but so unique. I must have this in my collection. My collection would feel incomplete without it. I know that this is going to be in the back of my mind until I get it, wish they sold it at sephora but oh well.
Absolutely gorgeous shade! Loved it! Very unique! 🙂
This is what MAC’s Beauty Marked should be!
Reminds me of MAC’s Beauty Marked a bit. Perhaps Armani has more red?
That is amazing! I love it.
Christine, this may sound crazy, but since these seem suuuuuper durable, what do you think it would be like to work with any of these in the waterline? I know using any shadow or pigment can get tricky in waterline, but I have not found any eye liner or shadow that will stay put in my water line for more than 10 minutes, I’ve tried numerous brands and types of products . What are your thoughts? Anyone??! 🙂
I don’t know if they would be waterline safe, because they do have a fair amount of shimmer in them.
have you tried Inglot eyeliners? I’ve worn their matte black (#77) a few times already and it doesn’t fade from my waterline for hours. I actually wore it yesterday and got really teary at a movie and the glitter on my lower lashline totally smeared but my Inglot waterline was still intact!
Wohoo! A few swishes of this eye shadow and good blending will make a perfect smokey eye. Armani, you’ve won me with this.
Holy Crap – that looks hot!! If you can, I’d love to see this in a look. After this and the last Armani eye color, I think I may need to “discover” them for myself. Thanks!!
Oh wow ! That is intense color.Looks absolutely gorgeous!!!
I need this in my life. Pretty please do a sexy smokey eye look with this!
This is GORGEOUS! what kinds of shades could you wear this with? I’m a little stupid about knowing what to pair lol
Holy crap! Look at that!! It’s beautiful! Now if only I had an amazingly pigmented red eyeshadow to pair it with…
I recommend NARS single eyeshadow in grenadines. It can double as a blush. Matte finish.
HOLY!!!! this is soooooo pretty! cant wait for you to do a look with it! <3
WOW!! What a unique colour, even I don’t own anything like it- I’ve never purchased an Armani cosmetic but it’s certainly on my list now!
This comes in NINE shades??? I’m gonna be broke!! Oh well, in my cart!
This would make a gorgeous eyeliner. It’ll give some oomph to my usual black-brown line.
Wow. Wow. Wow. I don’t know if I’ve ever been excited over any makeup like I am about these Eyes to Kill eyeshadows.
Amazing! This is what Beauty Marked should have been…
Oh yay, lust in a jar 🙂
I need this but it’s sooo expensive. 🙁 Ahh
is the one on the right wet?
Left!
Do you think this would be a good eye lining color?
I think it’d be nice, though you may lose some of the red since it will be so thin.
Yeap. That is a must-have. Now I have to figure out how to purchase it online without the hubby finding out!!
this is absolutely gooooorgeous!
oh no,this is one of the most beautiful colors i have seen in my life.it would became my fav eyeliner,if it wasn’t for the price.the funny thing is 32 bucks is not an impossible price tag for me but armani make up is outrageously expensive in my country:(
ps: maybe a “franken” of this beauty can be made by some pigments ang gel liner? ahaha,I am desperate:P
Wow, beautiful.
WOW WOW WOW! Awesome-pawsome!!!
Where can we purchase this?
Please see the FAQ or at the end of the review where it says “where to buy.” Thanks!
Can we only purchase online?
Or at GA counters 🙂
Can you maybe make the A+ bold? cause in google reader usually I saw spot on which grade you gave a product but now with the new style I always have to search for it 🙁
It is bold already 🙁
lol i’d totally consider going halvsies with a friend… if i had one who was super into make up 😛
if i buy one… every single month it will take me more than a year lol…
those blue flecks are calling my name..
That’s so pretty but too expensive for me.
I would be all over this if it wasn’t so damn expensive >.<
I rarely wear eyeshadows but these are about to make me faint I want them so bad!!
HOLY ! OMG it’s sooo nice !
Since i have black brown eyes, will this eyeshadow colour make them pop out or not?
It won’t really make them pop!
The right??? haha
Nope! 🙂
Holy moly, this is gorgeous. Dupe hunting, anyone?
This is GORGEOUS! I have never seen a color like this, and I think it’d be a killer liner. Not sure I have the guts to rock it as a shadow!
Goooorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! I said “ooooh” when I saw it.
Wow! Price be damned, I have to try these out. Maybe I could just check them out and get my favorite.
This is really gorgeous. I’m getting the feeling all the shades are going to be beautiful. I can sense that I’m definitely going to pick these up soon! Looking forward to more swatches =]
OMG! I stopped by the Armani counter and tried out all the colors tonight. So silky and smooth. Not messy, just like you said, and wonderfully vivid colors! There’s an ice blue/silvery one that I absolutely love! May have to save a little money to make at least one purchase. Love it!
oooooooh myyyyyy lorddddddd need this now
It’s beautiful, but I’d love to see an eyemakeup look with this one. ‘Cause I’m wondering if it will still have this beautifull color on the lid, or if it will become black on the lid, like the My Dark Magic eyeshadow from mac.
wow it looks amazing!! i love your review so much!! i checked the GA site and found that there’re totally 13 colours including this lust red. are you planning to have any review on those? look forward to seeing them 😀
Can you post a picture with this on your eye? Would love to see how it looks on the face rather than the arm
Christine, thanks so much for this review! As a result I purchased it off on the GA site and received it in the mail yesterday. To say that I am sold and in love is an understatement. It looks awesome online but in person, the pigmentation is just amazing!
FYI- For those thinking of purchasing, yes it’s a bit pricey but so worth it. I have never spent this amount on a single eyeshadow but took the plunge just this once and I don’t regret it. Also, if you purchase it from the GA site you receive two complimentary samples and you get to pick from their lineup of stuff.
Anyone knows if these shadows are available in Europe and where?? I checked the store locator on Armani page but seems to give only North American addresses. Thanks!!
I LURVE this! Is it available in the UK? I need this on my dressing table!!!
Can you swatch it next to MAC Beauty Marked? I’m a huge BM fan, and am curious as to how these compare.
Beautymarked is so, so sheer in comparison. Less black!
Christine HELP! I used this today and it was a nightmare to work with. The fallout was really bad, and blendability was terrible. I used NARS eyeshadow base, tried it both dry and wet, used every brush under the sun and it was disastrous. It almost has me believing I have a defective jar, because I have a few of the other colors and NONE of them have this problem. Did you experience this at all? …as I wipe more fallout flakes off my face! grrrrrr.
OH NO! I can’t even believe you had so much trouble!! I have no idea what happened 🙁 I use MAC’s 239 brush on these myself. I like using them dry better. But it sounds like you already tried everything!
OMG Christine. I know what the black stopper is for now!
I got the shade in 14, a molten-metal antique gold+khaki perfection. I was trying some new combos on the back of my left hand and I couldn’t be bothered to but the pot down (I was holding it on my left hand) so I just tipped it over when I was swatching.
THE EYESHADOW FELL OUT. I was stunned for a few seconds and just LOOKED at the empty glass pot in disbelief back at the eyeshadow patty on my table. I gently picked the patty up but it crumbled into three pieces – thank goodness one piece was wayy larger and the other two were about 15% of the pie each. I managed to put them all back into the pot and – here’s what the stopper is used for – to PRESS the eyeshadow back into the jar!!!!!!!!!!
I must say, I almost had a heart attack. 250HKD (approx 32 USD) down the drain like that?!?!?!
Hi, Christine! I think the swatches are absolutely incredible. I have a question, though. I was told at a Sephora that I have pink undertones. Anything pink or red becomes amplified on my face. Even the slightest pink lipstick looks pretty bright and too pink on my lips. Now I see the pink specks in the swatch. Do you think this color will look too red on my lids? I’m Asian with black hair and brown eyes. I’m really debating on which colors to get. I can’t spend too much and I want to get three tops. I’m debating between Purpura, Khaki Pulse, Red Lust, Copper/Black Grey and Pulp Fiction. Do you think you can help me with how you think the Red Lust would look like on me with my pink undertones? Thank you!
HI 🙂
WOW i think this one is the most gorgeous armani eyes to kill intense eyeshadow. But, as it’s quite dark and i don’t wear such dark eyeshadows as often, i wanted to ask if you think it would be ok to wear as eyeliner? On me my makeup smudges very fast 🙁
<3
You could wear it as an eyeliner!
In terms of color, how would this compare side by side to MAC Smoked Ruby? I’m not concerned with staying power, texture, et al, but if I already have SR, and I just ordered NARS Arabian Nights & Night Fever, do I really *need* this one? I know the NARS is a little difficult, but I’m willing to work with it. I am totally obsessed with blackened reds and purples, but I need to stop buying so much! Your opinion will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Smoked Ruby is really brown in comparison!
A little bit of a crazy way to use it, I use ETK in Lust Red to tightline. I wear contacts, have oily lids and NOTHING stays, whether its lined above or on the lashline. That includes Bobbi Brown gel liner, UD pencils (granted one of the few I’ve tried is Perversion and it’s really not the best to tightline with at all) and many others. I was reading some of the comments on using ETK to line, and I thought I might as well try since nothing else has worked before and maybe crazily the formula will hold up. AND IT DID. There is some fallout because it’s a loose shadow, but when applied wet and after a few tries, it does work. And the best thing, it doesn’t irritate my contacts. I find that with pencil or gel, it tends to smudge onto and blur my contacts, as well as transferring down. With ETK, I think because of its loose powder texture, when it does budge, it just collects in the corner of my eyes instead of smudging across my lens. I took a two hour nap and usually I wake up looking more tired than I was before with the panda eyes, but with the ETK, it was almost perfect. I think I’m in love!
