Bronze & Blue Look with Estee Lauder, Giorgio Armani, & Urban Decay

Bronze & Blue Look with Estee Lauder, Giorgio Armani, & Urban Decay

I’m trying be more organized and do things more methodically, which means trying to review products more timely!  I wanted to test out a few products from Estee Lauder’s Bronze Goddess ’11 edition, while also trial the wear of a new tinted moisturizer (this is the fifth time I’ve worn it, though).  I hope to review several of the products I tested here today and tomorrow 🙂

You will need the following…

  • Eyes:  Estee Lauder Pink-Teal Shadow Stick (peachy-pink/teal), Giorgio Armani #6 Eyes to Kill Intense (bronze), Urban Decay Flipside Eyeshadow (green-teal), Urban Decay Haight Eyeshadow (blue-teal), Hourglass G*psy Eyeshadow Duo (beige), Giorgio Armani #13 Eyes to Kill Intense (black), Chanel Inimitable Intense Mascara (black)
  • Face: theBalm BalmShelter Tinted Moisturizer (Light/Medium), Guerlain Les Violettes Mineral Powder (03)
  • Cheeks: Estee Lauder Sea Star Bronzing Blush (pink bronze)
  • Lips: Guerlain Mitsouko (140) Rouge Automatique (pinked peach)
  • Brushes: 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 222 (fluffy crease brush), 263 (angled eyeliner brush), 116 (dense blush brush)
  • Substitutes: Pink-Teal = use an eyeshadow base (for this look); Sea Star = Bobbi Brown Nectar

For eyes, start by applying Pink-Teal shadow stick as your eyeshadow base all over the eye area with the 249–take the teal side and apply it to the lid, then apply the pink side above the crease and lightly on brow.  Apply #6 eyeshadow to the inner third of the lid with the 239.  Next, apply Flipside eyeshadow to the middle of the lid with the 239.  Apply Haight eyeshadow to the outer third of the lid and into the crease with the 222.  Use G*psy eyeshadow to highlight the brow bone and diffuse the crease color with the 217.  Apply #13 eyeshadow on the lower lash line, and then smudge with #6 eyeshadow using the 219. Finish by sweeping lashes with Inimitable Intense mascara.

For cheeks, apply Sea Star blush on the apples of the cheeks and pat towards the temple with the 116.

For lips, apply Mitsouko lipstick for a complementing lip.

I know you’re busy, but I would love a video of this look, it’s so rich and colorful. I just bought both shadow stick duos from Estee Lauder a week or so ago, so it would be neat to see them in action.

Lizzi Avatar

What?! No way! Do you use any skincare products to help with the bruising look under eyes? If so, what? How can I make it so that I can get away with no dark circle make and not look like I’ve been punched in the face?

Christine Avatar

I don’t use any eye-specific skincare products (just the same moisturizer for my face). Dark circles are often hereditary, and I’m fortunate that mine aren’t too bad and I’m not prone to a lot of darkening in that area. You can’t make it go away entirely – you can only improve your lifestyle (drink more water, sleep more) and conceal.

This is a really cute spring/summer look Christine, Mitsouko looks gorgeous on you. I have to ask though, do you remember where you got the headband? It’s darling!

LH Avatar

I was so happy to see you posted another tutorial 🙂 I love the color combination its so pretty and as always you look lovely.

Joyce Avatar

Omg you look so cute in the face shots!! Awwe :))))))

I love this look. I have both Flipside and Haight but they don’t apply this pigmented on me. Hmmm…I’ll have to fiddle around with some products. I love this look! Maybe I’ll try it today ^__^

Mariella Avatar

LOVE that Armani bronze eyeshadow – gosh, it’s gorgeous. I’d love to know a sub for the Armani bronze, as Armani’s not readily available where I am.

Mahnaz Avatar

Hi Christine This is kind of random but I really want to ask you if you knew Mellan’s name is a Swedish word or is it a coincidence? I really like his name though 🙂

kfm Avatar

I swear everything looks great on you! Mitsouko is softer and pinker than I expected, which means I might be able to make it work. I’m loving that EL Sea Star blush since I picked it up- curious to know what you think.

Shayna Marie Avatar

Yay! I love seeing you with more color on your lids! you can wear brighter colors than me since your skin tone is a bit darker which is so nice to see! Cause if it were me I’d look like MIMI!!! -_-

shuz4ever Avatar

*THUD*…that’s a drop dead gorgeous look Christine… u look stunning as always…adore the headband. Can u recommend MAC dupes for this look please.

Jennie R. Avatar

Gosh, Christine, you’re so freakin’ adorable!

This look is really nice. And that tinted moisturizer looks great. Looking forward to the review.

Christina Avatar

I was debating on getting the EL double stick but just seeing this look helped me decide it was needed in my life. Thank you! Absolutely stunning!

rashmi Avatar

OUTSTANDING Christine 😀
its one of my all time fav.. infact all of them 😀
i would love to try out the look but with limited shades i have 🙁 🙁
awesome once again

Sophia Avatar

Christine, oh my gosh. This look is so unique and absolutely STUNNING. Thanks for putting so much hard work into the site. We all really appreciate it!

Lupis Avatar

Hi Christine,
This look is amazing. Love how it makes your eyes pop!! Could you please recommend a MAC dupe for UD Haight eyeshadow? UD is not available in my country. Thank you!!

Nicole Avatar

This look is beautiful on you! One of my recent favorites, for sure. I am looking forward to the Rouge Automatique release based on your earlier review. (So far, I can’t find it available online anywhere.) I particularly love the blush and lipstick on you in this look.

Nathalie Avatar

Best make up you’ve ever done (until now). You’re superb. Bronze and blue are surprisingly going together so well because they are so radically different. It’s really inspiring and I think I’ll do such a make up in the nextcoming days. Go figure, that’ll be the first time in 15 years of make up that I’ll ever do someone else’s look! It’s saying a lot!

Carolina Avatar

Ohhh, a flowery headband! And your hair is so long. 🙂 Also for fly away brow hairs, can I suggest MAC’s Clear Brow Finisher? It’s a brow wax my sister got for me and it’s marvelous for making my brows look polished (even when they need some work).

Amy Avatar

Christine, I read your posts regularly but I’ve never really commented. Just wanted to let you know today that I really like this look! I lovehow it’s colorful but is balanced out by the neutral eyeshadows.

Would you be able to do more looks like this (perhaps a bit more toned down), with a pop of color but subtle enough to wear to work? I love wearing bright colors, but I work in a pretty conservative environment so I don’t want to stand out too much. Thanks!

Hiromi Avatar

your skin is absolutely GLOWING, christine! the look is gorgeous, but the way your skin looks really steals the show for me (:

CeeBee Avatar

That is UTTERLY gorgeous – very sophisticated and elegant but with a wicked little pop of colour, I love it!

I adore your headband too, it reminds me of China Glaze For Audrey (which I know you love!) – so pretty!

Angelica Gaston Avatar

What a great look! I didn’t realize blue and bronze would look so good together 🙂 Can you suggest a possible MAC dupe for the Giorgio Armani #6 eyeshadow you used on the inner lid? Thanks!

Nevaeh Avatar

U look adorable!!! But I was wondering if u could do a test on “lash accelerator by rimmel london” to c if it really makes lashes grow! and my fave pics of u is ur eyes! soooo beautiful 😀

ssnug Avatar

Somehow, I always think Teal look pretty on you…

I wish I could work with teal too… it juz look out of place on me… 🙁

Liz Avatar

can you say STUNNING? OMG, the look is awesome and you wear it so beautifully.
I want this look transposed on my face, for I lack the skills even to come close to this look.

aradhana Avatar

very pretty…the teal really brings out the brown in your hazel eyes. it’s amazing how your eyes seem to change colour with whatever you are wearing!

i’d like to try out the armani eyes to kill and the EL pink-teal, but for now i am on an eyemakeup freeze 🙁 my eyes have been acting up so i’m trying to give them a break for a few months! i guess it’ll be all about blush and lipsticks for a while…

(ps. love the headband too…)

LC Avatar

I looked at your review for Mitsouko first, and when I saw the look you wore with it I immediately thought “please let there be a tutorial, please let there be a tutorial!” You look awesome :).

Liz Avatar

This look is beautiful! Do you think delft paint pot could be used as a dupe for the base? What would be a good MAC dupe for the bronze color?
Thanks!

leesie Avatar

Haight is quite possibly my favorite shadow /ever/, so of course I love this look. I may have to try this, with some substitutions.

Sarah Avatar

oh my goodness, this is so pretty! Probably my favorite look you’ve done; you look absolutely stunning. I love the headband and the makeup, everything! 🙂

Denise F. Avatar

Love it!Thinking you could substitute some eye colors, w/ Maui Wowie,Nylon and Sin from UD; and use the sin primer potion, as well. Gorgeous!!! And I love it on you!!! You have so many good ideas. Thank you for doing every looking and sharing it with the world! You rock!!! =)

Miriam Avatar

Out of all the looks you’ve done, this one definitely takes the cake, cookie, pudding, ice creme cherry…lol..You get my point. It looks insanely gorgeous on you. I felt inspired by it that I did a look using urban decay’s smog, shattered, sellout, mac’s sea and sky, dandizette, quarry, and siahi fluidline. I do have to say, I love the bronze with the blue. It couldn’t look more fabulous! I could sit here and stare at your eyes with this look all day!!! hahah

marcy Avatar

yesterday i bought Urban Decay’s Deluxe Shadow Box (i was drawn to the intensely beautiful colors and that there were NO glitter shadows) and i today i wore this awesome gold/teal/purple combo in a soft gradient: Honey in inner lid, Graffiti in entire crease, Ransom on outer corner of crease. then i used L’Oreal HIP Chrome Eyeliner in Gold. and MAC See Sheer lipstick. very springy!

pinksoda Avatar

beautiful look
christine: you know how you can;t wear eyeliner on the top lid..well have u ever tried using an eyeshadow as a liner? Just a thought 🙂

Queentut Avatar

Your eyes are amazing in these shades! I’m reminded of the Mediterranian Sea, a vacation in Greece or the Almalfi Coast. LOL! Seriously a great “look” is like a great song. It can take me on a journey if I use my imagination. Thanks Beauty!

Jennifer Avatar

Gorgeous!! You’re so talented Christine! I hope you don’t let the hateful people on Youtube stop you from making more tutorials. I always love your color combinations. HUGS!

Carmen Avatar

Mama mia, do you realize you are using SIX shadows in this look? Really, Christine, who has the time for that, besides you?
I love your reviews, but these looks are way too complicated in your instructions. I often use three shadows, max.
And I think the blue is a bit too strong in the pics. Other than that, I love your posts!

Christine Avatar

If you want to use three eyeshadows, do so! 🙂 Nobody is saying you have to use six – I’m only explaining what I used. This look took about 10 minutes, so I don’t see what’s wrong with that 🙂 If you don’t have ten minutes to spend on your eye makeup, just do what you need to do to make the look work for *you* IF you even like it. I very rarely spend longer than 15 minutes on my eye makeup. I do my makeup the way I like to do it – just like I would expect and want you to do it how you feel good about it. Makeup is supposed to be fun, let’s try not to suck the joy out of it for others by implementing rules 🙂

Dinah Avatar

Hey Christine! Great look!
I wonder, though, whether this light chalky blue you are wearing is the best choice for your skin tone. It seems to wash you out, and that’s a shame.
