Mario Badescu Drying Cream!
I tried Origins and that ruined my skin! I had to try several products to help it come back to normal…and I have found that Philosophy Purity, Microdelivery, Hope in a Jar, and my beloved Clarsonic MIA are my skin savers!!!
Jen, what was it from Origins that you tried?
I tried the following products:
Cleanser: Never a Dull Moment
Exfoliator: Brighter By Nature brightening peel pads
Moisturizer: Brighter by Nature
and I tried the Microdermabrasion once a week and Brighter by Nature Serum
This combination didn’t brighten my skin but made it break out horribly into cystic acne and it didn’t clear up any dark spots or acne scarring. I found my skin to get more sensitive to my makeup as well so I had to stop wearing makeup for 2 months. Never again will I be purchasing from Origins!
I don’t have any products like that yet, unfortunately.
Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser
Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre
Mario Badescu Drying Lotion
Origins Spot Remover, Origins Zero Oil (entire line), Origins Vita Zing moisturizer. These save my skin!
Lemon juice straight from the fruit!
I resort to natural remedies. A facial vapor bath with chamomile to deep cleanse my face, tea tree oil for spot treatment, a mix of almond oil, tea tree oil and neroli or bergamot oil to moisturize and heal the skin.
When my skin gets extremely dry (like it has this winter)… I use my Josie Maran 100% Argan Oil. It is a awesome product that I use all over my face, including my eyes and it really moisturizes my skin. Not only that but it works wonders on my hair. Its just an awesome multitasking product. Another product that I keep coming back to is Kate Somerville’s Goat Milk Moisturizer, its just awesome! Oh and I absolutely LOVE for when I get a breakout, Kate Somerville’s EradiKate… absolutely the best spot treatment I have ever used and the only spot treatment that REALLY works for me.
Hmmm….right now THAT’S a hard one to answer! LOL Because for the past coiuple of months or so my skin has been looking horrible and acting haywire and I’m trying to narrow down what the actual culprit is. It’s either the Becca Luminous Skin Colour that I bought or the MAC Pro Longwear Concealer that’s making be breakout in a rash, not even normal acne. In fact my skin’s been calming down since I went back to my old MAC Mineralize Loose Powder Foundation.
This has been the first time I’ve ever tried Becca and their products come in the most beautiful wide range of colors, and MAC makeup has never broken me out in a rash, nor with any acne in the past. Not the Studio Fix powder, nor the Mineralize loose powder foundation, and not the Select Moisturecover concealer that I have from them either.
I’m shrugging my shoulders at this one. I had moderate acne from the time I was kid when I didn’t wear makeup at all, and when I finally used makeup and first started out with MAC I noticed that it never gave me new or worse acne, nor a rash ever. There’s a first time for everything however. I was consiidering buying the Jane Iredale pressed mineral powder foundation, as I did once before about three years ago.
Erno Laszlo products – the “oldies” – pHelityl oil, sea mud soap and, if I have a break-out, conditioning preparation. Also, for dry, irritated skin, pure emu oil from the health food store.
Not to sound like a paid sponsor but Proactiv’s Refining Mask. My skin condition is fairly good. It’s your regular combination skin and is even for the most part. My only problem with my skin has been sudden breakouts. So this product just has always been my quick-Lord-help-me-I’m-breaking-out product. Lol. As far as the dry patches that we all know and hate, I just make sure I use moisturizer everyday. No preference; whatever is cheap.
When my skin is crazy, I take off all make up with 3 cleansers, two mild, one exfoliating. Neutrogena Cleansing Milk first, Derma E exfoliating face cream and I finish with Vichy Micelar water to really make sure all the dirt and impurities are gone. Then, I wipe my poor little face down with Reversa Glycolic Acid Solution followed by Bare Minerals Skin Revver Upper. About a half hour later, I take a warm cloth to wipe off all the dead skin. I then thoroughly moisturize with Vichy nutrilogie and chug a giant glass of water and get some sleep. I did this last night, I woke up with glowing skin in the morning!
A ponytail!!!
Sorry… I read hair in terms of skin, please do not publish my comment
It kind of works, though! Keeping the oils from your hair off your face! no worries
Zeno Acne Treatment device and Bliss Steep Clean Mask for me!
This is going to sound weird, but baby wipes with green tea and cucumber work better for my breakouts than even Proactive, Acne Free, Clinique and all that other stuff. Sometimes I still do spot treatments if I have troublesome spots that just aren’t going away with either Neutrogena on-the-spot treatment or just a dab of some cheap 70% rubbing alcohol. But yeah, it was kinda crazy I had spent so much money on acne products all these years when $2 baby wipes worked the best haha
Right now I’m using a 5% benzoyl Peroxide face cream by the Brand DDF, and you can get it at Sephora. And it has REALLY good reviews online and yes you do notice a difference over night.
I also have a medicated foundation primer, by CoverFX. Its great for oily girls because it makes your foundaiton look more matte whule fighting blemishes and pimples. It has 1% salicylic acid.
I always go back to my La Mer products
When an unwanted friend pops up I rely on Mario Badescu’s Special Healing Powder to keep him away. Also, Cerave PM lotion to keep flaky friends at bay.
I love all of Lush’s skincare products… I have skin that is easily irritable, drying, flaky, red, itchy at times, so I use their Dream Cream. It’s been a lifesaver for me.
Queen Helene Mint Julep Mask is a GREAT Spot Treatment but I can’t really use it all over my face.
Purpose Gentle Cleansing Wash is my one and only cleanser I will always remain faithful too.
Clean and Clear, or even Shopper’s Clear Action store copies. Warm weather really screws with my skin.
The Body Shop tea tree oil (soothing) and Murad Clarifying Mask (dries pimples up faster).
Neostrata’s Ultra Daytime Smoothing Cream is my nr 1 saviour. It’s a day cream but I like to use it at night 3 days in a row when my skin really needs some serious help and then I use Clarins Hydra Quench cream for the rest of the week day and night.
When it starts drying out and breaking out, I reach for First Aid Ultra Repair Cream, Mario Badescu Drying Cream and my Aztec Indian Secret Healing Mask (Whole Foods, $5.99) with Apple Cider Vinegar.
Egyptian Magic Skin Cream. For when my skin is irritated/scratched/dry.
Philosophy When Hope is Not Enough Serum & Hope in a Jar. My skins just loves these two products … But my purse doesn’t feel the same. Lol!
Aspirin mask, it’ll always be close to my heart. Anything else I’ve used for skin are just bleh or okay, I am currently in the process of trying the Clarisonic Mia, not super impressed yet but it’s only like the 5th day
Benzaclin! It’s a life saver, I just got back into using it two nights ago and my skin has improved so much considering how little time has passed and how bad my skin was to begin with.
I use Benzaclin too and it MOST definitely is quite the lifesaver!! I have combination skin and break out a lot from pms. By the time my skin completely heals, its the next month and the cycle starts again. Benzaclin works the best, but it is prescription! its the one thing that keeps me from going to prescription pills!
I can usually always count on LUSH’s Brazened Honey face mask and Gorgeous moisturizer to bring my skin back from the depths of hell. Oh, and Ocean Salt scrub with Full of Grace serum, if I don’t have time to do a face mask.
Cetaphil Cream 🙂
Kiehl’s Blue Herbal Cleanser… lovveee
I Loveeeee No 7 intense repair serum u can buy at target for 22dls and it does wonders for my skin after I use it it makes my skin feel tight like a face lift lol but in a good way
Jojoba oil to cleanse, Paula’s Choice 2% beta hydroxy acid lotion to eradicate clogged pores. And Philosophy’s Microdelivery Peel always fixes anything, leaving glowing baby soft skin in its wake.
Mario Badescu’s Buffering Lotion and jojoba oil are my staples.
Clinique’s Dramatically different moisturizing lotion is what i go back to- it always keeps my skin from flaking
Clinique or rosehip seed oil
What kind of skin type do you have Lisa? I bought some 100%(supposedly. The NOW brand) from the health food store. But it seemed to break me out.
Estee Lauder “Advanced Night repair serum” for when my skin looks dull, or beaten up; Alcohol free witch hazel, Clinique dramatically different gel (doenst aggravate skin), rapid clear from neutrogena or stridex salicylic acid pads for sensitive skin, if my eyes are hurt by makeup removing, i start using albolene cause it doesnt irritate my eyes, I stop scrubbing altogether, use a VERY light hand with makeup, usually sticking to mineral shadows/liners/blush, and cethapil gentle cleanser is great ass well, St.ives cream makeup remover and cleanser is gentle too.
could also use jojoba oil to remove eye and lip makeup or as said Albolene. If the skin is burning, I use aloe vera under moisturizer, if i have inflamation I use hidrocortizone cream & ice, if I have cystic acne I start washing my face, after removing makeup at night, with castor oil.
Since I have started using Paula’s Choice products my skin has been amazing. Her 2% beta gel is a God send, I am a customer for life. I just wish they sold her products in stores.
Kate Somerville’s Exfolikate does the trick to keep my skin clear thank god 🙂 before I found that product my skin stayed in haywire mode
I use Cetaphil gental facial wash, witch hazel, and neutrogena nightine clear pore treatment (it uses salicyclic acid instead of benzoyl peroxide which is harsh on sensitive skin) on other nights I rotate and use skyn iceland oxygen infusion night cream and I try to take my fish oil supplements, vitamin E, prenatal multivitamin, get 6-8 hours of sleep and drink lots of water throughout the day. If I do all these things my skin has less breakouts and it also glows.
For Acne, I use Acne Blemish Control Daily Skin Clearing Treatment. If my skin gets really dry, Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate. For dry patches & fresh scars, I use Yu-Be Moisturizing Skin Cream.
Dermalogica Precleanse, Dermalogica Microfoliant, the Clarisonic, Vanishing Cream, and for body, Moogoo’s MSM Soothing cream.
