Sugarpill Chromalusts: Birthday Girl, Darling, Magentric
Sugarpill Chromalust ($12.00 for 0.19 oz.) recently launched seven new shades, and I have three of them to show you today: Birthday Girl (sweet princess pink with iridescent fuchsia sparkles), Darling (stunning teal loaded with iridescent turquoise star bursts), and Magentric (metallic deep magenta with a dazzling turquoise sheen).
- Birthday Girl is a muted cotton candy pink with sparkle.
- Darling is an iridescent, aqua-teal with soft sheen when worn dry and a more iridescent, metallic finish when applied wet.
- Magentric is a darkened magenta pink with a soft sheen when used dry and a brighter, metallic finish when used wet.
Chromalusts are loose eyeshadows that are extremely soft and smooth because of how fine these loose powders are milled. The three shades featured in this post are vegan, for reference. They can be worn wet or dry, though I tend to prefer them wet as a base, but they do work nicely dry–though better over a stickier shadow base.

These kind of remind me of MAC pigments. Do they compare at all?
The only thing they have in common is that they’re both loose products, but texturally, they’re completely different (which is why I’d say they’re very different).
I was just looking at these on the website the other day. Are they worth buying???? I dont want to spend if the quality is about the same as Mica Bella and Bella Pierre pigments that you see in the mall kiosks. Or in other words, for someone that uses MAC and MUFE pigments/star powders alot would you also recommend them sugarpill pigments
No, I would say they’re totally different than something you’d find at a kiosk. The texture is more comparable to MUFE’s textures, so I think if you like those, you would like these!
Thanks!
im actually a mac artist and i absolute love sugar pill very pigmented eyeshadows comparison. we somewhat have simliar colors but this line is very pigment which i absolute love. but don’t get me wrong i love my MAC too
Darling is AMAZING!!! <3
I’ve been wanting to try Sugarpill for a loooong time…these are amazing, I will probably be getting them 😀
I have Darling–anything remotely teal-ish is right up my alley–and I love wearing it on the lid applied wet with UD’s Haight in the crease and Aquarius in the inner corners. Next to Absinthe, it’s my favorite Chromalust.
(And, yes. New Sugarpill shades are ALWAYS a good thing.)
Darling is so pretty!!!!
wow, I love these! I never tried this brand but this is an amazing welcoming card!
Oh these look amazing! I’ve been looking at Sugarpill for awhile but I think I may need to take the plunge now 😀 “Darling” is so pretty.
I sad that Asylum is DC’d at the moment due to lack of pigments used. 🙁 But Darling is a fantastic aqua-teal. 😉
I don’t really get why they sell these really expensive pigments, when there are billions of mineral makeup companies that do a ton of pretty pigments soo much cheaper?
these loose shadows are NOT pure pigments, they’re actually uniquely formulated and in unique colours by a laboratory, not to mention the jars are HUGE!!
Oh finally you joined the Sugarpill bandwagon *O* Incredible product pictures, I’m so glad you like Sugarpill as much as we all do. Am already done with my collection, awww!!
I reviewed all of Sugarpill’s line when they first launched – this isn’t the first time Sugarpill has been featured on Temptalia! 🙂
Ooooh ok bcuz I always wondered why you tried LC, but never SP haha
You can find previous Sugarpill reviews here: http://www.temptalia.com/category/brands/sugarpill-cosmetics
🙂
birthday girl is gorgeous!
Hey Christine, do you have the other four new shades for a later review, or just these three? I had asked you a question about Stella on your Formspring (and how it compares to UD’s Oil Slick). I’m hoping you might address that if you review it. 🙂 Thanks!
I’m not sure I have it, sorry!
Hmm… These colors don’t look as nice to me as some others in the line. I think I’m gonna pass.
I was so in love at first sight with Darling that I just bought it. I’m such a sucker for Teal…
Darling looks amazing! Too bad I can’t pull off teals.
Would you say that Darling is about the same shade as MAC’s Partylicious?
It’s more jewel-toned, no golden sheen – http://www.temptalia.com/mac-alice-olivia-collection-pigments-review-photos-swatches
They kinda remind me of Lime Crime loose eyeshadows…
i have both LC and sugarpill… frankly i prefer sugarpill, and these are very unique!
Personally I find sugarpill pigments smoother and much easier to work with/blend than the limecrime ones.
I’m not big on pinks, but when I wore my wee Magentric sample, I feel in love. Such a beautiful, beautiful colour.
Do the jars have any sort of sifter or inner lid yet? I haven’t been able to find an update on that.
The ones I had didn’t!
Darling is so gorgeous! I love it!
Sugarpill is amazing, I have most of their stuff already. 😀
Magentric must be mine!
I love the color
Ok I’m convinced! I ordered some of the pigments just to see. Plus I’m a color junkie so these look pleasing. 🙂
Very pretty! Is darling comparable to macs partylicious(colorwise)?
It’s a bit darker and doesn’t have the golden sheen of Partylicious – here’s a swatch of Partylicious to compare – http://www.temptalia.com/mac-alice-olivia-collection-pigments-review-photos-swatches
Oh, just bought darling and is darling esp. if you put it over a taupe like base color. it really stands out. Birthday Girl is hard to blend with other colors. Stella not here is magnificient. Sugar Pill is the bomb! I use it dry and tap it on with a smudger brush. Another gorgeous shade is Weekender.. These colors are three dimensional.unlike the other BRAND.
Sugarpill > Everything. I just can’t look back at other brands now that I have so much Sugarpill. Of course I still use other brands for face and such since Sugarpill only has eyeshadows at the moment but all of my Sugarpill shadows made all my MAC and other brands obsolete. Now just waiting anxiously for the line to expand!
Whoaaaa, that’s what I called a really stunning metallic teal! Gorgeous!!!
Very pretty. I would have had use for colours like these when I was younger, but not anymore (especially the pinks). The teal I could see working with for a night out.
Magentric & Darling are two of my favorite shades in the loose formula from Sugarpill. Absinthe is also fantastic.
