Please keep discussion on-topic, and if you have general feedback, a product review request, an off-topic question, or need technical support, please contact us!

Please help us streamline the comments' section and be more efficient: double-check the post above for more basic information like pricing, availability, and so on to make sure your question wasn't answered already. Comments alerting us to typos or small errors in the post are appreciated (!) but will typically be removed after errors are fixed (unless a response is needed).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

I am pickier about colors complementing my coloring and lifestyle, than I am about brand name. I am selective about quality, as far as I know what works on my skin and what doesnt, whether i bought it at Nordstrom or Wal-Mart 🙂 (and i frequent both)

I’m probably the least picky you would find, especially for a beauty blogger.

My excuse? I grew up very poor. Money was always scarce and still is for me somewhat. I can’t often buy those really nice makeup pallets or anything. So, I make due with the inexpensive stuff and supplement my makeup collection with nice expensive stuff when I can.

Totally! Definitely!
I have been using makeup and beauty products for 30 years and I have tried it all: from the cheapest to the most expensive and, in most cases, as a general rule, you pay for what you get. I want the good stuff because I find that whenever I bought the cheap stuff, I either needed to use more of it or it ended up in the garbage, therefore, costing me the same or more than if I had bought better brands. Also, from my accumulated experience, I have learned that the more I use the higher ends/good quality ones, the less I want to have anything to do with the cheaper stuff. My expectations have definitely increased overtime and I don’t see that as a bad thing.

Yes I have become selective about what makeup brands I buy, like another poster said I end up trashing what doesn’t work and it takes me more time/effort to make drugstore products work. I will only buy mascara and maybe lipgloss at drugstores now. I used to think that name brand cosmetics were just a waste of money but I have grown to love the colors, the new collections, palettes, and even packaging! I can’t believe that now I will consider a product because it has cute packaging! Fafi started that!

Picky yes.
Before MAC I just went with anything. But after (since 1995) I have sworn to this product for the rest of my life.

Once you go MAC
You never go back.
