I’ve only tried 2 cream foundations. The first was Prescriptives Photochrome which had a gorgeous finish but the funky, clunky compact design caused the product to dry out in no time. By then, the company was declared almost defunct by Estee Lauder (although there are still products for sale on the Prescriptives website). But I loved the ease of application and the great finish on my skin.
This annoyance led to Bobbi Brown moisturizing cream compact which I use in the desert-dry heat of summer of where I live, mostly in August and September. It is not as nice a finish as the other one, but when I use a damp sponge, it is very natural-looking. I’m almost through my first compact, and will probably repurchase because it has not dried out. But I keep it, literally, in the dark!
Sometimes, if I need a little extra coverage, I’ll pat some of the compact foundation over my liquid one, but for the most part, this product gets only seasonal use.
I’ve been using cream foundation for a couple of months now and I don’t think I could ever go back to liquid of tinted moisturizer again. I find it a lot easier to sheer down a high coverage and the results are better. Graftobian’s Glamour creme has a ridiculous amount of shades – I actually found an exact match which has never happened with any other foundation. Also, when properly applied, it feels just as light as tinted moisturizer.
How do you apply the graftobian??
I just got it in the mail, but the first time i tried applying it with a MAC 109 style brush it didn’t turn out well 🙁
Using a flexible, metal spatula (from my local craft store – in the oil paint section), I scoop some out onto a plate (just a flat, “sandwich” plate I found at Ikea; the flat surface of a makeup palette would work too) and smear it around (like you would spread peanut butter when making a sandwich). This makes it creamier and ensures that I don’t over-apply. Then I use a Sigma F84 to stipple it on and buff. It sounds like a lot of steps but I can do it all rather quickly and keeps my foundation palette nice and sanitary.
I want to add that I used a Beauty Blender too. That gave me a really nice finish but I didn’t like the high maintenance required of keeping a Beauty Blender and found that the Sigmax brushes gave a similar enough finish.
I use the Graftobian cream daily, and I’ve found my favorite way to apply it is with a large, flat-topped synthetic brush; I use the e.l.f. Studio Powder Brush. I have MAC 109, 187 and 190 and still reach for my cheapie e.l.f. daily!
My favorite foundation of the moment is Laura Mercier Creme Smooth foundation (the one that comes in the glass jar). It’s sort of a mix between a cream and a liquid and I LOVE it! I can’t imagine using it during the summer, but for right now it is perfect. I love the jar too, while it’s not at all travel friendly it’s heavy, super luxe feeling makes me feel like I have something of extremely high quality. It almost makes me ignore the $50 price tag!
I second this. I have been using this for a couple of months and it is wonderful. I have alot of redness in my skin with oily T-zone and a Sephora SA recommended this. I was hesitant because I thought this might make me oilier. But, this covers very well while making my skin look natural and velvety. I dust with Nars loose powder and I am set for the day!
I’ve always liked cream foundation but the problem was that it’s hard to find shades light enough for me to wear and be full coverage.
Check out Graftobian or Illamasqua cream foundations if you’re looking for paler than normal options. I can’t use MAC foundations (they’re all too dark) but can wear Graceful Swan or Bombshell in Graftobian. Illamasqua actually makes a pure white as well as a pink-tinted white, making it the first line I’ve ever found that have foundation shades that are TOO light!
The only thing similar to a cream foundation ive tried is something called the Missha BB pact. Its suppose to be a cream-like substance, but when i tried it, it did not seem to blend into my skin well because its more of a thick paste compared to a liquid foundation which is more wet and thin in texture. ive also tried a cream concealer from MUFE (tiny jar) and same thing.. hard to blend. Basically when i touch the product with my finger, it stays on my finger, and most of it stays on my finger and not appear on my face or even blend well to cover.
does the Maybelline mousse count? that stuff is a bit more creamy but for me it is also hard to blend.
I have Eve Pearl’s creme foundation and love it. The “light” comes with 2 shades, so you are actually using both the come up with just the perfect shade and coverage. It doesn’t feel heavy on my skin, but at the same time it’s moisturizing. I also have her powder and salmon concealer. Her products are great, I highly recommend to anyone looking for a creme foundation, or anyone that likes to be able to build up coverage, or even if you just have dry skin and want something that can provide moisturization as well. They are expensive though, but still great nonetheless.
i LOVE cream foundations! i currently use the giorgio armani designer shaping cream foundation and the cle de peau cream foundation. both are pricey (esp cdp $118!!) but they’re well worth the money. they both provide excellent coverage, and a little goes a long way. the cle de peau cream foundation is my absolute favorite though. i use it for special occasions 🙂 it has a really natural finish and smells nice, and i don’t even need to set it with powder!
Nope, but I’d love to try it because there are some areas on my face that need more than light to medium coverage, which is all my regular foundation gives.
I once was wearing foundation. I didn’t have pimples or any kind of stuff you wanna hide. I knew how to put it on so it didn’t look cakey. But you know, you someday realize that you don’t need foundation to feel secure or prettier. I found out that boys like a natural girl – I still use make-up, just not foundation. And just imagine, when you are sleeping with a guy, and next day everything is melted off your face?… not cool. not pretty. not sexy… So foundation, drop it.

I love macs full coverage foudation an honestly I get a much more natural finish than with any liquidfoundation (besides tinted moisterizer). I dab it on with my fingers and sheer it out with a damp sponge. i never liked cream foundations when i was young (back in the 90s). . . now I know that the key is to avoid brushes for or to not just slather it on with a sponge
I use ONLY cream foundations. For my tan Indian NC43 skin I use Eve Pearl’s Tan set. I also have Lancome Absolue cream foundation in Almond 10C. I tried Laura Mercier and although the texture was lovely, the colours Honey Beige or Tawny Beige were just wrong for me. I found Bobbi Brown to be too greasy and Elizabeth Arden’s colour Cognac was wrong for me too. I find that cream foundations give me great coverage and I can sheer down easier and the finish is usually quite dewy.
I don’t use cream foundation… I’m oily enough for that haha
I prefer cream foundation because I think it blends better and looks better when properly applied. However, if you have a hint of oil in your skin it easily slides into greasy territory.

I am a big fan of cream foundations. I like the fact that you can pretty much determine what level of coverage you get with it. I have two clear favorites in this category — Graftobian Glamour Creme and Eve Pearl. The Graftobian foundation has some a wide range of shades, including very fair. While the Eve Pearl does not have the color range that Graftobian does, the Eve Pearl is (IMO) the easier of the two to use and lasts longer.
I am using Illamasqua’s cream foundation occasionally, usually on days when I need a bit more coverage. Also, living in Australia, it is better if I use it on cool days – on hot and sticky days I prefer tinted moisturiser mixed in with foundation…

Aw, that’s too bad, I really like it, myself. When I was deciding whether or not to use a primer with it, I noted that dimethicone is in the ingredients list about five times. I know a lot of people have issues with that breaking them out, so maybe that’s it?
I mean, that is a helluva lot of dimethicone, honestly.
I have only used the MAC Mineralize foundation (the one in the compact) and though I love love loved it, it broke me out 🙁 It looked amazing, had the perfect coverage, finish, and feel for me.
My skin is so picky and will break out at mostly anything so I have to be very careful what I put on it. I wish I could just throw on all the wonderful foundations that are out there, but alas it just isn’t an option for me.
I’ve never tried it I just think it would take longer and I’m already pressed enough for time in the morning! Maybe eventually though
I’ve repurchases MAC Studio Tech foundation 5 times, yes. FIVE TIMES! That’s how much I use to love it. Currently I use Bobbi Brown’s foundation stick because of colour match and the stick form makes it a lot easier to apply. I LOVE these foundations so much, especially the Bobbi Brown one. Amazingly creamy, glides onto the skin really well, blends in with no problem, can be applied with foundation brush, fingers or sponge. Buildable coverage is always great since you can pick which areas you want to pile it on and which to show more skin through.
I love my discontinued Chanel cream foundation. I use it with a foundation brush, also Chanel. But they don’t make it anymore. I tried the Laura Mercier cream foundation, but didn’t care for it.
I just got Eve Pearl’s HD Dual Foundation this week. The only other cream foundation I have tried is Maybelline Dream Mousse, which melted off and wiped off every time I used my phone or gave someone a hug. Eve Pearl’s foundation is the first of any foundation I have used that I love. I have used almost every MAC formula and many drugstore liquids and powders, as well as mineral foundations. Nothing works like Eve’s HD cream foundation, not even MAC’s Prolongwear. It covers my hormonal acne perfectly without being cakey. It even seems to be helping my skin be more healthy, as my acne has decreased since I have been using it. Her videos look like it takes a long time to apply her foundation and it is a lot of work, but this is actually the fastest application I have ever done. It covers my acne so well that I have cut ten minutes off my foundation routine, it really only takes me about five minutes now! It does not crease, stays on all day (I do powder it with her powder as well). And, I have not even tried it with a primer yet.

So far, MAC Studio Sculpt is the only foundation I like.
I just started to use the RMS “Un” Cover Up. It is a concealer and foundation. It looks and feels amazing and you only need a tiny bit to cover your whole face, which is good considering the price. It is all organic and has raw food grade. I love it.

Just to add my two cents worth – cream foundations are the way to go! I’ve tried a number and have to rate EP’s HD as the bomb. I’ve just finished the Mineralise one – good and I’m almost done with my Iman stick! The latter is awesome but the bloody stuff stinks (and really annoys me) so will probably not repurchase. Still thinking of trying our Bobbi’s sticks but in the meantime, I’ll enjoy my EP 🙂
I love cream foundation for contouring. I use 2 shades, my normal shade for where the light hits my face and the another shade (2-3 levels darker) to make my nose and face look thinner.
I like the convenience of packing for travel and ease of application of cream foundation.
love eve pearls hd dual cream foundation. at first i hated it, but now i always reach for it. it works for me by using a sephora airbrush. but i have to spray the brush with water…it helps the product disperse all over my face. love it.
I have been using La Prairie Skin Caviar Foundation with Concealer. The coverage is medium to full, and texture is more of a cream than a liquid. It has a spatula built in. What I love about it is that my skin leans dry, and this relaly helps my skin retain the moisture. The color does oxidize, so make sure you wait 5 or 10 minutes before you purchase to make sure the color is right for you. I like the finish a lot, and I have gotten compliments about the natural finish. I just use my fingers to apply it. I get a pea sized drop and I dot my cheeks, forehead and chin and then rub it in. A little goes a long way. And, I mostly just use the concealer under my eyes. It is expensive — I think I apied $180 for it, but I have had it over 3 months and have only used about 25% of the jar. I wear it every day. I don’t think this product is for oily ladies, and they don’t have the hugest selection of shades.
My fav. cream found’s are MAC studio tech and MAC Mineralized spf15 foundation. I wear these on a daily basis. With studio tech I have to spray my face with fix + before apply the foundation. They both seem to fade away throughout the day.
I used to use MAC foundations (Mineralize satinfinish, Face and Body) and never really liked them so I turned to mineral powder foundation instead. However, I recently purchased Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse and Dream Liquid Mousse and I absolutely love them! They are easy to apply, give great coverage, stay on all day, look natural, don’t break me out, and make my skin look flawless. The only gripe I have is that the Matte Mousse dries my skin and accentuates flaky parts, but it will not matter in the summer time when my skin gets oily.

I really like creme foundation because of my random breakouts that I get on my chin and I like to even everything out. Right now I’m testing out Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse. I consider it a cream because it is pretty thick compared to liquid products.
I am liking it so far and it offers good coverage w/o being too cakey. I really just want to find a good foundation and it is just so hard to pick!

I LOVE Cream foundation. I use the simply ageless cream foundation from Covergirl&Olay. I fell in love with it. It lasts long, has SPF in it, waterproof, super easy to apply with a sponge and is not messy! It also has pretty good coverage, especially redness! I do not like liquid, it seems to not work with my skin at all and cream hides my pores much better!
