Looks - Urban Decay Book of Shadows Purple Eye

I wasn’t too happy with the way this turned out (especially photography-wise, something was off!), but on the positive side, I did use a color combination I haven’t done in some time (or maybe ever, my memory is pretty faulty!). I was aiming to do something different than my norm when it comes to pairing colors together. I guess that’s one of the great things about makeup: you can apply it, and if it doesn’t work, you can always take it off in thirty seconds!

You will need the following…

  • Eyes: Urban Decay Primer Potion, Urban Decay Baked eyeshadow (bronzy-gold), Urban Decay Last Call eyeshadow (plum-mauve), Urban Decay Mayhem eyeshadow (dark blue-purple), MAC Femme-fi eyeshadow (highlighter), Urban Decay Lust 24/7 Liner (purple), Plushlash mascara (black)
  • Cheeks: Gentle mineralize blush (soft raspberry)
  • Lips: YSL Lingerie Pink rouge volupte lipstick (cool pastel pink), MAC Tres Cher! lipglass (mauve)
  • Brushes: 266 (firm, angled brush), 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 129 (dense blush brush)
  • Substitutes: Gentle = Plum Foolery; Lingerie Pink = Snob; Tres Cher! = Nico

Directions: Define brows using a coordinating powder shadow applied with the 266 brush. Apply Urban Decay Primer Potion all over the lid as the base with the 249. On the inner lid, apply Baked eyeshadow using the 239 brush. Apply Last Call to the middle of the lid, overlaying it with Polar Opposites. Darken the outer lid using Mayhem and drag into crease using the 239. Sweep Femme-fi underneath the brow bone to highlight. Finish with Lust 24/7 Liner on lower lash line and smudge it with Mayhem eyeshadow using the 219, and Plushlash mascara on lashes. Sweep apples of cheeks with Gentle using the 129. Apply YSL Lingerie Pink lipstick to lips, and then top with Tres Cher! lipglass for color and shine.

This looks really nice! Very fun and playful!

How do you like the UD book of shadows? I have been contemplating getting it but I’ve never used UD shadow before so I haven’t made up my mind.

It looks absolutely gorgeous, I can just imagine how much nicer it looks if you feel the photo wasn’t quite on. I played around with similar colours (solar white, bold & brazen & deep truth) about a week ago, and I loved the result!

Thanks for further inspiration! 😀

I can never achieve an amazing eye look like you did, so I’m liking your way of always trying something to refresh your look and turn into something very different and pretty. Your lip color completes your look effortlessly understated, since the color doesn’t wash your face out as a whole.

Your look has that cool rainbow vibe that reminds me of Guerlain’s Midnight butterfly Holiday Collection (personally I think your colourings are prettier)! 😉

You can call this your rock star look! When are you going on tour!? LOL. It’s different but it looks good on you.

I love this look. Great combo! I will have to pull out my urban decay palettes. They have such vibrant colors. Which colors are the ones that are not in the deluxe palette or ammo palette. I have those two. Last call is one of my favorite urban decay shadows along with fishnet.
I heard that some of them are repeats and a few of them have not been featured in palettes before.

it looks fantastic!!

The colour combination reminds me alot of one of the mineralize eyeshadow duos that came out with electroflash….the purple and gold one that everyone loved!!

Urban Decay E/s’s are the best! They were my favorite e/s before I got turned on to MAC. One of the bonus features about the UD E/S’s is that if you have them in the single containers they are easy to pop out and put into the MAC palettes, perfect fit. I also took my UD Palettes and broke them down so I could also put them into the MAC Quads…a lil glue goes a long way….now I have 39 quad palettes filled with MAC, UD, Some maybellines that I use as dupes for some MAC colors and some random shadows…

For anyone thinking of picking up some UD, go for it, I place their quality and pigmentation on the same level as MAC – I promise you will be happy with your picks!

I think you look fabulous! as usual…lol the only thing that looked a lil different at first glance was the bronze in the inner corner…IMO…like it didnt mesh AS WELL as another color might have..but you still pull it off and look amazing! 😀

Hi …. this look is so amazing…. may I know which one of your e/s brush that you used for blending that contrast colours so, each colour still look the same briliant, but no harsh line…. I hope you understand what I mean….

thanks for the quick reply…. hmmm, do you think that #231 (small version of 239) can do the same task? I have small asian lid …
but ussualy I use 217 for blending, I feel it’s quite big to make a precise vary e/s colours’s look like I saw in most of your tuts….
Christine… I love all your tuts… and will continue to read this blog…. good job dear!
