Quick Review: NYX I Dream of Barbados Eyeshadow Palette

NYX I Dream of Barbados Eyeshadow Palette ($8.75 for 0.28 oz.) contains five eyeshadows and is part of NYX’s Caribbean Collection of eyeshadow palettes. This particular palette is cool-toned, purple and lilac themed. There is a light-medium pale lilac with a frost finish; charcoal-black with a silver sheen and brown undertones; cotton candy pink with blue undertones and a satin finish; cool-toned bluish gray with a soft frost sheen; and a fuchsia-purple with a satin sheen.

Of the three palettes I’ve tried from this series, this is the most pigmented and most consistent. All five shades had excellent pigmentation, and they applied smoothly and evenly with no powderiness. Welcome to Swatch-all-idays! To start 2011 off on the right foot (or post, as it may be!), Temptalia is going through a backlog of products we have photographed, swatched, and often tested but in a slightly different manner. Quick reviews may be partially incomplete, such as a blush may only be swatched on the arm rather than shown on the face. It is our hope that what we are able to provide is still helpful!

  • Product: 27/30
  • Value: 9/10
  • Ease of Use: 4/5
  • Packaging: 4/5

RECOMMENDATION: I would definitely recommend this for cooler skin tones, but paler skin tones in particular.

Please help us streamline the comments' section and be more efficient: double-check the post above for more basic information like pricing, availability, and so on to make sure your question wasn't answered already. Comments alerting us to typos or small errors in the post are appreciated (!) but will typically be removed after errors are fixed (unless a response is needed).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

Totally cute! Reminds me a little bit of the Dior Night Butterfly quint, though the purples in that are deeper and darker.
Can only get limited NYX here in NZ though… haven’t seen these e/s palettes, much as I’d love to!

I have this (a fellow MUAer roaked this to me a while back), and I agree that it is very pigmented and soft. my issue was that I remember there being dramatic fading at end of the day? I used UDPP (my usual) and after the initial application, it didn’t seem quite so vibrant any more. granted that was an old tube of UDPP i think, so i may need to retry with my new bottle. lol
