Lolita looks too purplish and dull (in a bad, unnatural way) on my lips. Lolita II is much more my colour haha.
I’m pretty skeptical about any lipstick colour being universally flattering.

Tessa Avatar

Seriously. Anything called “universally flattering” makes my eyebrow twitch.

I also hate reading it in reviews (Sepjora product reviews do this frequently). “I just tried this sparkly pink thing, or this specialized skincare thing, and because I love it, it’s inconceivable others wouldn’t. Naysayers are obviously crazy. It’s great for EVERYONE.” Aaaargh!

Zoe Avatar

trust me, it makes me twitch too. because 90% of the time those color don’t work on me. just thought lolita was on a different level, haha!

yeah sephora reviews aren’t known for their objectivity

Zoe Avatar

wow sorry to hear!
lolita II in comparison looks WAY too orange on me.
i am normally just as skeptical, but thought with the breadth and scale to which lolita is popular, that it would be a generally universally flattering color.
let’s hope this one works for you!

Lolita is just popular, but it *definitely* does not work for everyone, lol. Anything that claims to be universally-flattering is just using clever marketing! Same w/ Orgasm.

I will probably get it. Her liquid lips aren’t drying on me, fortunately, and any lip color with brown or brownish coloring is right up my alley.

I think maybe Rouges were able to buy it. I’m Rouge and I logged on and could purchase it… I had to wait until it was available, though. It’s supposed to come in the mail today. It will be the first time I have ever ordered anything from Sephora.com and only one thing will come in the box…haha!

It just goes to show how certain formula’s work for some people and not for others. In general, I don’t reach for liquid lipsticks very often because they are not kind to my over 60 lips. Mostly I use a balm underneath and then apply the liquid lipstick. I have to say that using KVD liquid lipsticks in this way has allowed me to wear and love these lipsticks. I am curious about this shade as I do have Lolita but if it is different enough then I will pick this up.

This is the trick to these liquid lipsticks for me and using it makes Kat von D is perfect. I apply either a balm or butter in a similar shade and layer the ELL on top. You wouldn’t think it, but it usually still dries down non-transfer and matte. I love this formula. I’m intrigued by the KVD gold foil liquid lipstick coming out and if it will be just as good!

Erica Avatar

Universally flattering…surrrre. It looks very much like Lolita. I wish rather than giving a boring nude, KVD would work on liquid lips metallics. Or set of really cool lipglosses since lipglosses seem to be coming back!

I was able to buy this when they stocked up on it after it “sold out” within minutes Wednesday morning. I want to see how it compares to the Tarte grav3yardgirl lip paint, Texas Toast. That one goes almost gray on me.
