Halloween Looks: Sam, Sarah, Rachel, Kstelin
Halloween Looks: Sam, Sarah, Rachel, Kstelin
So many of you sent in your fabulous looks for this month’s challenge! Since these looks are often elaborate, I’m going to feature four per post. My goal is to then include a few posts per day until we have featured all of this challenge’s participants.
To kick things off, we have Sam as a mermaid, Sarah as a dead doll, Rachel as Elphaba, and Kstelin as Marie Antoinette.
Check out their looks!
Sam’s mermaid look
“Mermaid” by Sam
SAM is an 18 year old student and aspiring makeup artist originally from New York and currently living in Las Vegas, Nevada. She views makeup as an art form, not a tool to mask insecurities and imperfections. It’s a passion, a hobby, and slowly turning into a talent. Most of all, it’s FUN! You can check out her makeup blog.
INSPIRATION: The inspiration for this look was a mermaid. I wanted to use sea-like colors, very cool and mythical. This look would be much better with some false lashes, rhinestones, and some long glittery hair, but unfortunately, I had none of those at the time! I did, though, throw on some fake pearl earrings for good measure.
- EYES: Both eyes: MAC Bare Study Paint Pot, MAC Lemon Chiffon Shadestick, Stila Onyx Kajal, Buxom Lash Mascara. Blue eye: BFTE Blue Bird, Sugarpill Tiara, Sugarpill Afterparty, BFTE Whisper, MAC Steamy Eyeshadow, MAC Prussian Eyeshadow. Green Eye: BFTE Green Apple, Sugarpill Tiara, Sugarpill Midori, BFTE Whisper, MAC Steamy Eyeshadow, MAC Greensmoke Eyeshadow.
- LIPS: MAC Violetta Lipstick, MAC Vanilla Pigment, and MAC Like Venus Dazzleglass.
- FACE: Forehead: BFTE Illusion, BFTE Grape, Sugarpill Tiara. Temples: Make Up For Ever #92 Eyeshadow, Sugarpill Midori, Sugarpill Afterparty, Sugarpill Tiara. Also used: Revlon Photoready Foundation, Toki Doki Nancy Rocks!, MAC Vanilla Pigment, and MAC Naked Pigment.
Sarah’s dead doll look
“Dead Doll” by Sarah
SARAH is an Australian uni student studying graphic design. She fell in love with makeup after watching many tutorials on YouTube! She has also recently applied for a position to study makeup artistry and would love to one day work for MAC.
INSPIRATION: I guess my inspiration for this was my own mind. I thought of being a dead doll after brainstorming a few ideas, then practised my “dead” look.
- EYES: MAC Push the Edge Pigment, NYX Purple Eyeshadow, Matte Black Eyeshadow
- LIPS: Black Eyeliner, NYX Purple Eyeshadow
- FACE: Pale foundation all over the face (including lips) along with a matte white eyeshadow, MAC Push the Edge Pigment and NYX Purple Eyeshadow (to contour).
Rachel’s Elphaba look
“Elphaba” by Rachel
RACHEL is 18 years old and live in England. She’s currently a student at college who would really love to pursue a career in cosmetics in the future. You can check out her blog here.
INSPIRATION: I was really inspired to do a look based on Elphaba from the musical Wicked after repeatedly listening to the musical soundtrack! I really adore the character of Elphaba and her transformation through the musical. I wanted to go for more of the mature look she has towards the second act, with a darker smokey eye. I also didn’t go for the deep green lip she has on stage, instead I decided to apply a bright red lip based on the promotional images for the show. Overall it was a really fun look to create – I plan on re-creating this on the 31st for Halloween!
- EYES: Milani Domino Quad, 120 Palette, MAC Rapidblack Penultimate Liner, and Benefit Eye Bright.
- LIPS: Barry M Red Liner, No. 7 Cherry Lipstick, MAC Lady Danger Lipstick, and Matte Black Eyeshadow.
- FACE: Maybelline Superstay 24H Foundation, Barry M Emerald Dazzle Dust, Milani Loose Translucent Powder, along with greens from the 120 Palette.
Kstelin’s Marie Antoinette look
“Marie Antoinette” by Kstelin
KSTELIN is a fashion student, freelance makeup artist, fashion stylist, and sometimes a photographer–when it’s needed. She has two dogs named Lulu Belle and Ella Kaila. You can find her on her YouTube channel.
INSPIRATION: I am in love with the visual of Marie Antoinette–Sofia Coppola did such an amazing job with that movie. I hold it near and dear to my heart since it is a very fashion based film showcasing the rococo era.
- EYES: MAC Expensive Pink Eyeshadow, MAC Vanilla Eyeshadow, MAC All That Glitters Eyeshadow, Make Up For Ever #23L Liner, and CoverGirl LashBlast Mascara.
- LIPS: Revlon Strawberry Suede Matte Lipstick, Vaseline
- FACE: Maybelline Light Beige Concealer, MAC Personal Style Blush, MAC Optimistic Orange Cremeblend Blush, Maybelline True Peach Mineral Blush, Baby Powder
Rachel’s is sooo cool, I love Wicked!!!
love the marie antoinette look. makeup is very delicate and deftly applied.
Wow what talent!!!
Wow. WOW! I’m totally blown away by these looks! I never would have thought it possible to make green skin look sexy, but Rachel you pulled it off!
They’re all gorgeous/amazing!
The orange-red lips was a good call on Rachel’s part. It’s a great contrast against the green skin! Great Contouring as well! A great Elphaba (I’ve only read the book).
Kstelin’s Marie Antoinette might be the least theatrical, but it’s so lovely! The hardly noticable white overcast (from the baby powder, I think) really suits Marie Antoinette’s era. She did a great job achieving that “youthful” flush on the lips and cheeks which is the most beautiful and my favourite part of the look!
i absolutely adore Wicked, so rachel’s is a win for me! i especially love how the green is multi-tonal and not just one flat shade of green. so much more flattering (:
and Kstelin – you have such flawless skin, I’m so jealous ): and it’s a simple look, but so elegantly accomplished – you look like you’re glowing from within (:
aww..thank u 😀
i LOVE Sam’s lips!!!
Rachel is gorgeous…even as Elphaba!
Yay there’s me 😀 thanks so much Christine! I appreciate it!! 🙂
Rachel’s Elphaba look is OUTSTANDING!!!!
I think all four women achieved the look they were going for exceptionally well! Great job ladies!
These are REALLY amazing. I’m a big Wicked fan, myself, so Rachel’s is DA BOMB!
All of you ladies did a great job.
That Elphaba look is amazing !!
Rachel is so beautiful even though she is decked out in green paint, and Kstelin must be the most beautiful girl I have ever seen. Oh Wow. And the looks are awesome all around.
Thank u, dear 🙂
yay! Thank u so much Christine 🙂
They’re all awesome, but I especially love the bruisey-looking purple under Sarah’s eyes, it looks really realistic! I think secretly I have a thing for dark circles, haha!
Amazing Rachel’s look!
The elphaba look is awesome ! I haven’t seen wicked, although i know a lot of people who love it. The colors are just so perfect, though. I may have to try something similar, since the boyfriend wants me to try to put together a she-hulk costume sometime.
I’m loving Elphaba’s green! 😀
Rachel’s look is so labour intensive, kudos to her it looks great! The mermaid is so ethereal and fairy like – love! Dead doll is haunting. And Marie Antoinette is so pretty – I’m copying that.
i like the last two the best 🙂 great jobs ^^
OMG Sarah… awesome!
all beautiful and well executed, ladies.
rachel, your shading and contouring is flawless. you are absolutely gorgeous!
these are all genuinely brilliant! rachel love your site, have been reading through some of the old posts!
Rachel & Kstelin looks are amazing! 🙂
Kstelin’s skin looks so porcelain!
Sam – This look is full of everything I love, shimmer, glitter, and more sparkle! You look fantastic and your artistry shows!!
Sarah – I love the lashes the most about this look. It just really adds an extra layer of depth to everything. Smashing!
Rachel – You captured everything the world loves about Wicked in this look. I love that you went with the red lip. Fabulous!
Kstelin – Sophisticated and simple! Everything that is Marie in that movie captured in your look. Bravo my dear!
