Philosophy Trick or Treat Set: Pumpkin Spice Muffin & Caramel Apple

Happy Halloween!

Philosophy Trick or Treat Set ($20.00) contains 8 oz. Shower Gels in Pumpkin Spice Muffin and Caramel Apple. I’m not one for tricks, so for Halloween, I treated myself to this little kit. I reviewed Pumpkin Spice Muffin when it originally debuted last year–I absolutely LOVED it. For the record, I still do. (Writing this post also reminds me that I should stock up!)

Caramel Apple has that crisp scent of ripened apples with the sweetness of caramel wrapping it all up. Philosophy really nailed both of these autumn scents for me, and both make me feel so cozy when I’m lathering up in the shower.

Philosophy’s Shower Gels are absolutely excellent as a body wash, as they lather up quickly, scent up the shower, and don’t dry out the skin. I don’t find the scent lingers post-shower, which is to be expected, as it’s not on you for long. (I personally only want my perfume or a scented body moisturizer to linger.) They also make nice bubble baths, and decent shampoos, though I imagine if you have anything but normal hair, you may want to stick with your normal shampoo unless you’re in a pinch. It’s just a rather basic shampoo that cleanses.

Really wish Philosophy’s shower gels sets were actually value-driven. Normally, full-sized shower gels retail for $16 for 16 oz., and while you’re getting 16 oz. in total here, you’re paying $20 for the opportunity to try two.

Gah! This looks like it smells delicious. I already have a bunch of philosophy shower gels to get through though. D:

On a random note, have you ever tried any of the recipes on the bottles? They seem like they’d be pretty yummy! 😀

I bought this set as soon as they got it in at the Sephora I shop at (had to scent-test first). I love all things pumpkin-scented usually, but I started with the caramel apple first and I really think it’s my favorite of the two!

I got this and then realized I had too many shower gels in the shower already. So I cannibalized the pump from a bottle of face wash and have been using the Pumpkin Spice Muffin as a hand soap. I might have to do this more often.

As wonderful as these sound and as good as the other Philosophy gels tend to smell I am just not buying the 16 oz for $20 bit. Only because you can get 16 oz bottles for $16. And I actually like scents to linger on my skin. I don’t have overly dry skin and it will sometimes become irritated by fragranced lotions so lingering scents from the shower are my friend. That is why I tend to stick with LUSH shower products.

Hey Christine, do Philosophy Shower Gels tend to go bad after a while? I’m asking because I recently ordered the Apricot & Cream shower gel and it had a medicine-like smell, which is weird because I sniffed this specific showergel in the store and it didnt smell like that.
