Look: Smoky Browns with Chanel Holiday 2010

Look:  Chanel Holiday 2010

Here’s a look using several of Chanel’s new products for the holidays! 🙂  It’s a quick, five minute look, and for reference, I used all of the eyeshadows dry.

You will need the following…

For eyes, start by applying Splash as your eyeshadow base all over the eye area with the 249. Using the 239, apply the champagne eyeshadow on the inner third of the lid and pull upwards along the inner crease. Lightly blend the medium brown eyeshadow on the middle of the lid with the 239. Next, apply the dark brown eyeshadow into the crease with the 226, lightly blending onto the outer lid.  Blend the champagne eyeshadow with the crease shade and highlight the brow bone. Bring everything together by applying Cassis on the lower lash line. Finish by sweeping lashes with Inimitable Intense mascara.

For cheeks, apply Tweed Fuchsia blush on the apples of the cheeks and sweep upwards towards the temple with the 116.

For lips, apply Patchouli lipstick first, and then layer Pleasing glossimer for a complementing lip.

Love the overall look! Your lips are to die for. 🙂

I have tried the fluid eyeshadows and they don’t last very long on me. I used them as a base on the eyelid but the inner corner of my eyes always gets tears trapped in the folds of my upper lid and eats away at all the shadows I use (esp. the Chanel fluid eyeshadow). Can you recommend a substitute for the fluid eyeshadow? Would the color payoff be as intense if I used UDPP or TFSI instead?

Is that how you’re supposed to use the liquid eyeshadow? I got it myself because it’s such a gorgeous color, but it occurs to me that I have no idea how to use it… lol I’m sure you’re going to do a review of it on its own, but if you had any usage tips, they’d be much appreciated!

Love the look by the way–you look gorgeous!

Beautiful! The fluid eyeshadow makes such a big difference in the pigmentation. The blush looks great on you. It’s a lot more wearable than it looks in the promo pics.

OK, def. stealing this look form you – so classic! But I had one question that I know you can answer – my frined says taht blush should be applies directly under the eyes on the cheekbones, and up the cheekbones near the temples. I think it should be applie to the apples of the cheek, you know, that parts that go up when you smile and blend, because that’s where you naturally blush. Are the different techniques a facial shape thing, or something similar?

You look beautiful! I am always surprised that the Chanel products don’t get a higher grade on your blog. They are my fave and you wear them well!

Really pretty!! You know I tried this on, and I found it looks so purple on me, not at all copper like the holiday ad. But you made me want to try this quad again, but with Splash underneath this time to give it more depth….

Christine, I wanted to ask you also…in many of your looks you apply liner only on the lower lash line and skip the top. I was curious as to why you do that b/c I’ve never tried this before.

Thanks for the great review:)

Hey Kate!

My upper lash line is ridiculously sensitive to… well, anything. I think it’s just movement on the lash line itself, but what happens is it gets itchy, watery, and sometimes it swells up and gets red/flaky if I don’t remove it quick enough! I’ve tried a TON of different applicators and products and they all yield the same reaction.

I really love the lipstick/gloss combination on you, i might end up purchasing this. but you really have a nice smile, which always makes the lipcolors seem more pretty

You look gorgeous as always.Thank you for sharing this look.Is the chanel rouge coco lipstick patchouli a new shade? I have never seen this one before.

Christine, very pretty look for fall or winter!
btw, I am wondering how do you get the chanel e/s quad to show on so intensely dark on your lid. My chanel quad from the fall collection doesnt seem to cooperate with me. I always only get a sheer wash of color if I use a brush, using finger is a little better. Do you have an idea how to solve it?

aha! i think i recognize that picture…that answers my question about the lipstick/gloss… 😉

very pretty look…the lip and cheek colours suit you especially well and the plum liner subtly makes the eyes pop… i might go check these colours out in-store, though i suspect they will look really different on me.

cool hairband as well!

I’m looking for a MAC red lipstick for this fall. I’m NC45 (summer tan! I’ll probably be a NC35/30 in no time) and don’t know what would suit me! Any suggestions? Thanks Christine 🙂

Thank you so much! I never would have thought to look into the Viva Glams (plus, now I won’t feel so guilty about spending my money on MAC ha)!

Which would you recommend: Velvet Teddy, Shy Girl, Kinda Sexy, or Blankety? I’m looking for an everyday (non-corpse) natural nude color. Thanks Christine! 🙂

I LOVE this look! I really need to have that blush. I have NARS Angelika and though I adore it, it’s a little over the top. I think this one is similar but more wearable. I’m putting it on my wish list, haha.

I *love* the look! I’m sure you’ve done it with MAC, I’d love to see that so I can duplicate it. BTW, thanks for all you do, I can’t imagine how you do it all.

Love the lipstick on you! May I say openly that I think you use too much eyeliner? I think it looks a bit overdone. Do not get me wrong please. My english is far too abd to say it more polite, I think you do not need that much?!
You are young and pretty AND you have also impressive eyes!
You do not look tired like I would with that much liner 🙂 but I would love to see something more natural, even if it does not photograph as well.

I caved and bought the blush, magnolia lipstick, and pleasing gloss once I had the MUA try it on me. I think this is my favorite holiday collection! =)
