All I know about eyelash curlers is what you get is what you pay for! I’ve bought cheap ones that simply DIDN’T WORK. The MAC ones work just fine for me, but I’ve been wanting to try the Shu Uemura ones for some time now.
gaahhh eyelash curlers….I always seem to end up with a funky L shaped row of lashes. For someone who should know how to work one I feel fairly clueless on how not to end up with lashes that just have a weird crimp in them….no its not a cheap one.
I used to get by not using an eyelash curler because it was just an extra step that I had no time for in the morning. But now, I cannot live without my shu uemura eyelash curler! It works like no other eyelash curler I’ve ever had. I use it before I put anything on my lashes, holding it on each lash for about 10 seconds or so. Then I use a primer, two coats of mascara, and use the curler again in the same manner. I finish with a third coat of mascara. I swear my friends thought I was wearing fake eyelashes when I started using my shu uemura eyelash curler. It’s so great!! If there’s one thing I’m sure to do in the morning now, it’s curl my lashes!
I’ve never found an eyelash curler that fit my eye shape very well, expensive or drugstore. BUT the Vincent Longo mini eyelash curler is perfect–you use it to curl your eyelashes in sections so the shape of your eye doesn’t matter. Only problem is I haven’t been able to find replacement pads so I had to buy a new one.
Well i would always pinch my skin and have that funky L shape thing going on, so then i just recently bought the Shu Uemura and i love it, I used that on one eye, and my cheap one on the other and you can tell a difference! Next im getting the mini Shu Uemura!
I have never been able to curl my lashes without pinching or pulling something which leads to my eyes watering profusely which inevitably results in ruined eyemakeup.
So I don’t use them.

Same here lol 😛 I have a Shu curler but I rarely use it.. Plus I am always afraid of my eyelashes falling out!
Eyelash curler is a MUST when applying any kind of mascara. A great curler is a PLUS.
I have a cheap one and it works fine, but I have a shiseido and shu, and they both make my lashes looking natural without weirdly crimpy or pinch my lashes. So far, I don’t see any difference in Shiseido and Shu – yet. After all, Shu one is 9 dollars more than Shiseido! GAP
I never use them. I just don’t think they do that much for my look!
I am afraid of them. I think they look like torture devices.
Phobia, I guess. They scare the bejeezus out of me.
I use a rather cheap one and I’m fairly pleased with the results…I’ve read so many rave reviews on the Shu Uemura curler, but it’s not available here in Germany except via ebay, and there it’s 30
I got some but I don’t use them as I heard it damaging to the lashes =] x
Tanya, to fix the L shaped problem… Go for a crimp in the bottom, then the middle, and if you can the top. That way it will bend twice and look more realistic.

I have super curly lashes, (which is actually annoying when putting on mascara, bc it always gets up on my browbone and under my eyes!!) so I don’t use a lash curler…. HOWEVER, what I don’t like about them, is that they are so damaging… they can soooo easily pull out your lashes.
I love them! I have one from Avon that I love! I have thought about trying the Shu one but why fix what ain’t broken? I’ll probably be the replacement when I need it though!
i don’t care about eyelash curlers because my lashes are already curled!

I don’t think they’re necessary, and if anything, they’re only hurting your lashes.
I think it’s very hard to get a natural looking curl with an eyelash curler, but they do help awaken your eyes
I LOVE love love eyelash curlers… but I only have to use it on one eye! My eyelashes are weird; the ones on my right eye look curled all the time no matter what, mascara goes on beautifully, no fuss no muss, but my left eyelashes are always stick straight in comparison. Curlers fix that problem! =]
I have a Revlon one that works great. What is so special about the Shu eyelash curler?

I don’t like the fact that they don’t make refills for eyelash curlers anymore! They just want you to go and buy a whole new one, which I think is a waste of money and isn’t very “green”.
I used a really cheap one once and it actually cut part of my eyelashes! Now I’m kind of scared of trying them again especially since I dont find it necessary.
Guess I’m indifferent about them because as long as I’ve been wearing make, nearly 30 years, I have never managed to use one without pinching myself. I’ve tried just about every type and shape there is and all of them pinch. I’m sure it’s operator error but I don’t want to go through the pain and learning curve so I don’t use one. Thankfully, my lashes curl up fairly well all by themselves.
I have always use the cheap Revlon one and it works ok, nothing great. I have been hearing about the Shu Uemura curler for at least 10 years but never got around to buying it! Maybe I should!
nobody should have a problem with getting an L shape with their lashes if they can curl their lashes properly. ditto with the lashes falling out problem. by all means, do NOT curl your lashes at the same spot for 10 seconds!
i have very straight lashes and i curl them starting near the roots, and i sorta “walk” them out with the curler till about halfway or 3/4 of my lashes. this creates a natural looking curl. and you only need to curl each section for about 3 seconds.
i only use the shu uemura eyelash curler.

I swear by Kevyn Aucoin’s eyelash curler – I have dead straight lashes & this makes them luscious & curly.
I dislike most of them b/c they don’t fit my small/flat asian eyes! Even the Shu and Shiseido ones=/ They all pinch my skin at the corner of my eyes but don’t get close enough to the roots in the middle. Fortunately, I’ve finally found one that fits my eyes wonderfully and works like they do for all yall=D The Koji Soft Curb Eyelash Curler, which can be found at sasa.com for only $8.20.
Eyelash curler is a MUST when it comes to applying mascara. It just helps a LOT.
I have a cheapie and it works fine but my shiseido and shu are working really nicely giveing me a non-crimpy, natural curl! I don’t know which works better, since I havent seen any significant difference between Shiseido and Shu. But Shu is $9 more. GAP
I got my lashes permed because I was sick of using the crimper every day… but I really don’t think I’ll ever do it again. Just not worth it, and I’m sure it was way more damaging than just using the tool.
I use a drugstore brand and I suppose I can say it works pretty well! My lashes face all the way down and I mean it! Curling my eyelashes just prevents the top and bottom lashes from sticking to each other when I blink after putting on mascara.
I haven’t used one for a while and haven’t noticed much of a difference. I used Stila’s multieffects mascara for a while, which curls for you. I’m using Diorshow and Chanel Exceptionnel now without a curler (too busy before work, I do my makeup in the car in the parking garage if I have time these days). I still get great results, but I have naturally thick lashes.
