Huda Beauty Rose Gold Textured Shadows Palette
Huda Beauty Rose Gold Textured Shadows Palette ($65.00 for 0.63 oz.) includes 18 shades with a warmer, more copper/gold vibe. Here are swatches —
Oh boy. Disappointed that this got so hyped on YT and the swatches are less than impressive. Pretty gorgeous in the pan, though!
Saw Dubai and Fling and I said “YES!” and then I looked at 24K and Rose Gold and my face fell a bit and I said “..oh, a little more patchy, okay..” and then as I scrolled and got to Black Truffle I said “oh, jeez, what on earth happened THERE?!” I look forward to your review!
Exactly.
Yeah, Dubai had my heart racing (and then I recalled a Clarins palette with a gold shadow that had a similar “loose” look). But I looked at Black Truffle…and Henna…and Coco…the swatches look so patchy and bad. Reviews at Sephora are all over the place but a lot of people are very disappointed in it there too.
I ordered it to test it out for myself. But I was told by the MUAs at Sephora that you ‘have to warm’ the colors up before using because if not it will look chalky. Its such a pretty palette that I want to see/touch and feel it for myself.
If I do have to ‘warm’ up the colors so that they apply better I may end up returning it because every other palette that I own and I am a palette junkie, all work on cue, no rubbing/warming needed.
this
hmmm I’m guessing this will end up in the B+ range. Black Truffle could have been better!
Thats rather generous, lol! Looks to me like only 2 or 3 shades have decent pigmentation. The rest are chalky, patchy and not pigmented. I’m gonna guess a C- or a D here!
Maybe it is generous! But to me, I think it’s more like 9 shades that look decent, though some don’t swatch as smoothly… Maybe a B rating will happen 😛
Nope, this looks like a solid C imo ?
awwww!
So pretty, I am loving the reds & golds. Mmmm thinking about this purchase. Waiting for u to grade it.
Those first three shades look AMAZING! Then it kinda goes downhill, it seems.
I saw this palette in my local Sephora and I wasn’t impressed by the mattes. They just felt dry and stiff. The texture shadows were chunky.
I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on this palette! Just ordered mine during the Rouge sale.
I like about half of this palette (oh gosh – Dubai!!!) but the rest is basically unwearable shades for me. I will be curious to see how this rates with you, Christine, because as lovely as Dubai and one or two other shades are, they look like they could be glitter nightmares (they look almost like barely pressed pigments; I am hoping I am verrrry wrong, though!)
It’s frustrating how bad some of these colours are, because if they were even okay it would be a stellar christmas present for friends!
Angelic and Sandalwood are my two faves I would actually use, but overall Dubai, Fling, and #Blessed are drop dead gorgeous. Even though most of the mattes are sheer or dry, I could see them being great for layering to build up definition. So many of these would be beautiful as cheek colors, highlighters, strobing powders, or maybe mixed with a balm/gloss for lip color.
The more I think about this palette the more I feel as though I NEED it lol!
Oh yes, I’ve been waiting for these swatches!! Hmmm, this looks like a very mixed bag. On Sephora, the reviews are either 1 star or 5 stars, so wondering if there’s a QC issue and some batches are better than others. Well, I decided to be brave ( or foolish) and ordered this today, so I can get 20% off during Sephora sale, but if it doesn’t perform, I will be returning.
I’ve had mine for a week or so and I love it. You definitely need to use your fingers for the “textured” shades. They really just look like foiled shadows on the lid. And I find the mattes to be fantastic except for the black (which I almost never use anyway). They’re pigmented, smooth and extremely blendable. I too think it’s a quality control not just from shade to shade, but from palette to palette.
Yikes, those mattes are rough! I’ve heard some pretty critical reviews of the metallics, too. Actually when I first heard of this, I thought “textures shadows?? who wants textured eyelids? what a weird concept” and it sounds like it’s not going over so well.
I would really encourage people to try out City Color Shimmer Shadows if they want super metallic shadows in this color range. Same deal – apply with fingers for best results. You get a ton of product, total control over which colors since they are singles, and they run sales all the time so you can get them even cheaper than the regular price (which is still pretty cheap). And I’ve had zero fallout issues with those.
A few beauties but a whole bunch of stinkers.
Um, whoa. The quality is all over the place with this one. Sad, because the I can envision some very interesting color pairings that lend themselves to one going with quite the creative flare if the quality were there.
Black Truffle is giving me real MAC Carbon vibes… a real disappointment because there are some real stunners in here too!
Most of the metallics are beautiful except Rose Gold. That’s kinda weird considering the palette is named Rose Gold. Some of the mattes look weak but I can get past those with other great mattes that I have. I’m curious about this one. I was at Sephora yesterday looking for stuff to add to my cart for the VIB sale. Forgot to check this palette out! I’m getting ABH Renaissance palette for my daughter for Christmas. I want a Natasha Denona palette for myself, was going to get the 28 green palette but I might get a 5 pan with greens and golds. I love metallic shadows!
I Love the glitter shades, not sure i would use the others though.
Oy I’m so glad I ducked out. Some of the shades look lovely, but the price tag is far too steep for the many patchy misses.
I’m glad I chose the Anastasia Renaissance palette! It’s a shame because this palette had a lot of promise. Thank you for the swatches!
This palette is beyond hyped. It’s nice but nothing new there to be honest and the price is another story.
Angelic and blessed are soooooooo beautiful. I have no eyeshadow from huda beauty. Can one get these colours as single eyeshadows ?
If you like these shades but want a nice palette you should get the Violet Voss Holy Grail palette. I think it’s going to be restocked sometime this month. I own it and think it’s pretty nice and very comparable to the shades and types of shadows in this palette.
Wow – this doesn’t really look good at all! Lots of the glitter shades had massive fallout and many of the mattes were patchy as.
Another take on the ABH Renaissance palette I think. But a pale imitation.
The shade Dubai is stunning ! Some shades look like they have a weird texture in the pan ! Can’t wait to read your full review 🙂
Some of those mattes look rough ?
The first 2 glitter ones are lovely, the second two are kinda struggling. I can’t justify spending over $80 (that’s what it costs here in Canada) on a palette that looks kinda disappointing. Too bad though, this would have been lovely it the swatches performed well (and I totally would have spent the $80 if all the glitter ones were as good as the first 2)
Its swatches like these on newly released palettes that help me justify not buying things the MOMENT they come out because they might look pretty and appealing but once you start to use them, they just crush your dreams. Thank you!
Omg, exactly what I NEEED! A warm neutral palette yesss…i can’t wait to see the review because it’s in my cart on sephora,. I’ve been seeing mixed reviews on youtube but I definite cannot wait to see yours
Like most of the top row but the matters don’t do anything for me. Also heard that the top row needs a glitter glue because it wants to produce fall out continuously after application. Too expensive, IMO, for meh packaging and formula. Easy skip.
I really want this. But, I’m not sure how to pull off the red/pink tones going on here. I’m 40 not 25 0r 30. I need a lesson or something. Last day of the Rouge sale. This sold out in my Sephora. But, it’s still available online and I can’t decide if I should pull the trigger! This is what I’m thinking about at work. with the election stuff on the TV in the background…perhaps it’s a coping mechanism.
So I’m 42 and do sometimes wear bolder shades, including a hot pink (different from what’s here) – but I wear it in the center of the mobile lid with a soft black on inner and outer corners and then a black or dark green tight line to keep it grounded. You could do the same here, using a small, bright bit of color with something more typical and darker on the outer part of the eye to keep it from being too outlandish.
I love that combo! A dark green tightline sounds super cool! What do you like for the soft black you use and green liner? I didn’t buy it during the sale. I was spent out. Going to look for the review first.
It’s very wearable, but I really love it. I use Giorgio Armani for the black; the one I’m using currently is in a palette with the pink and a white, but the black single will work as well. For the green liner, I really like the slim Tom Ford liners a lot, but that’s super pricey for a liner. I also have one from Armani Silk line and its very good and not nearly as painful a price point. I have a few of the Marc Jacobs liners (the regular and super thin) and like those a lot for tightlining – the standard highliner comes in a deep green that would work really well; the fineliner version isn’t dark enough in my opinion.
Thanks so much Lea! ?
This review really shows why you have to check the enlarged swatches. The thumbnails don’t look too bad…and then you move on. This def says mod ren next year and maybe a MUFE Morello Cherry. Vida said my sentiments exactly. Some of this palette is in definite downer territory. Who mfgs this? It’s not Kendo, is it? Would expect better from them….
I ordered this from Sephora using my 20% VIB Rouge promo code – but not until I’d watched the Huda Beauty videos showing the palette and explaining how to apply the shadows. The textured shadows, according to the video, should be applied using a fingertip – not a brush (I suspect a sponge-tipped applicator would work well, too – I’ll do some experimenting after I receive it). When I look at the swatches, the only shade, IMO, that’s truly sub-par is Black Truffle (although I would also say the other mattes would benefit from being applied over a primer). That Black Truffle performs so poorly doesn’t really bother me; I have never found a matte black eyeshadow to equal the now-discontinued Milani Powder Eyeshadow single “Pitch Black.” It is, hands down, the smoothest and most pigmented “true black” eyeshadow I have ever found, and the one I reach for any time I need black.
That Black Truffle swatch is rough!!From the things I’ve heard on Instagram and Utube I expected most of those mattes to look worse than they do.Dubai and Fling are stunning but I’d probably only use the Metallics so I can’t really justify spending that much on a palette with that only 9 or 10 shadows that I’d use.
Another impulse buy that I regret. That’s the last time I’m buying eyeshadow without waiting for your review, and actually checking it out in person.
I was the one who posted about buying ABH MR Palette or Natasha Denona Palette or this pallete on reddit and you replied me. Thank you for the sneak peek. I’m not that impressed with the swatches. When are you posting the full review? I hope I can read your opinion before VIB sale.
Should be before the VIB sale for sure! I wasn’t able to get all tested before the VIB Rouge sale, but I will have it before VIB 🙂 Well, I should!
Thank you, Christine! Can’t wait to read your review.
On YouTube, this palette is very hyped up but I never actually see it being used on a consistent basis… or at all other than the actual review video. From what I’ve seen, the metallic shadows swatch beautifully with fingers but terribly with a brush (which may be disappointing if you have longer nails like me, or you hate using your fingers for eye shadow… again, like me) I don’t think this palette is worth the price, especially with the majority of the mattes underperforming; the black truffle swatch was unacceptable for a palette at that price point. I think the packaging is absolutely stunning and the colors look amazing and go well with each other. I think if she put a bit of work into the mattes, it could have had the same effect as the Anastasia Modern Renaissance palette, meaning everyone would be dying to get their hands on it. The matte colors need reformulation, possibly with more oil in the formula so that the shadows apply better and hopefully less dry! Maybe she could have added a nice applicator for the metallic shades (e.g. silicone tip applicator) because, judging from how creamy they look, I’m not sure a brush will do it. I guess we all have to wait for the review. That’s all for now 🙂
