Im a very matte loving person I havent really tried much luminous a couple of lancome deluxe size holiday sets but I am open to suggestions to try out some great ones
I’ve seen mention of Rouge G over and over again and I think 2017 will be the year I finally get one! I think everything is de-cluttered enough to where I wouldn’t display it and forget it.
I top my MAC satins with a Patentpolish if I want a luminous finish – I have to have a clear waterproof liner on though because anything glossy usually feathers.
I was thinking the same thing! 2017 will be the year I finally get a Rouge G lipstick. I might just go order one right now!! Any suggestions on what color I should get first would be appreciated.
Yay! I am looking for a nice coral or maybe a rosy mauve but I don’t know that Rouge G have/has any (yet). I think they do reds really well. I’m open to suggestions as well!
I’ve also been holding out on the rouge G’s… mostly because I hate ordering lipstick sight unseen and my local nordstrom refuses to restock!
I would love to have a good midtone plum color, but from Christine’s swatches the one that seemed like the best fit would be “Gracia” … I did get my hands on a tester of that shade, and it seemed much more brown than I was expecting, (looked vet MLBB, and for $60+ I need more than that!) so if a more neutral to cool plum tone exists, suggestions would be marvelous!!! 🙂
Rouge G!
Most of my collection are matte (I don’t even own a lip gloss / oil), but the few luminous ones i own are all lovely! I’ve got Chanel Rouge Coco 444 Gabrielle (a red with fine shimmer), Shiseido Rouge Rouge in bloodstone (really, a marvelous sheen); I’ve also got Guerlain G in Garance and Charlotte Tilbury in Bitch Perfect, but those two colors don’t feel quite as luminous on my lips (probably because they’re light?)
Estee Lauder Hi-Lustre. I don’t feel a heavy tackiness that Christine describes with this lipstick. On the contrary, I find this to be an extremely comfortable formula to wear (forget I have it on) that lasts very well.
I also got the Pure Color Envy Sculpting Gloss as a GWP and THAT is super luminous. Like it better than all my MAC glossess, and I never thought I’d say that.
Looking forward to research what everyone likes. Lipstick, it’s a weakness (except for mattes, don’t like those, nope on that 🙂 ).
I love my Elizabeth Arden Red Door Red. It would feather and bleed on me if I didn’t use a wax pencil to keep the lipstick in my lip lines. I also have the Red Door Red lip pencil and the gloss with the same name. I really use all three but since the lipstick itself is pretty emollient I don’t use the Red Door Red gloss with that lipstick. I also really love my relatively new Bobbi Brown Velvet Red which has a beautiful sheen to it.
Tom Fords shimmery/foil lipsticks are very luminous and they wear well! I really need to get a Rouge G though.
I’m with you on this one- Rouge G reds are my favourites. I saw that there’s a special limited one coming out for Chinese New Year. I’m sure that it will look a lot like other reds I have, and I’m pretty certain I’ll end up buying it anyway. Because they’re just so lovely.
My second favourite would probably be Rouge d’Armani, although I haven’t tried the reformulation they did this year.
The Armani’s are still amazing!
MUFE has a section in their display where they have the new or limited edition items. I just happened to notice this section because there was a red chubby lip pencil that caught my eye. It’s great, fits the criteria for this post and the color is that perfect shade of red. It’s a little sheer but they have one right next to it that’s completely opaque. I don’t know the exact name of the color or the formula. The sheer one is called a balm but it’s got a lot more color than your typical balm.
I love the Clarins Joli Rouge shades – especially Ginger.
Bite Kir Royale from last year always gives my lips a luminous reddish-berry look! I also love my MAC Amplified and UD Creme lipsticks, as they seem softly luminous without being shimmery.
And lest I forget; Tom Ford Seadragon! But that one can get dry, so if I use balm underneath that helps with that better than lip primer.
For truly luminous it will definitely be my Cle de Peau lip luminizers. Far and away one of my favorite lip products, beutiful, hydrating, creamy yet also stays put. After that would be my Armani Rouge D’Armani satins and sheers.
I’ve used and loved Rouge G for maybe 20 years, but get super frustrated they rarely introduce new shades. And two colors I adored were discontinued. So in recent years I’ve purchased more Tom Ford. Christine, has the limited range been a problem for you?
Rouge G will forever be Queen.
I recently bought my first Tom Ford (Snowdon), and it’s lovely. I also recently bought my first Bite Beauty (Fig), also very nice, though I do like the TF better. I’ve swatched the EL Hi-Lusters and like the formula a lot; haven’t tried Rouge G yet since there are no Guerlain counters near me.
Still need to try the Rouge G formula! Want to though. Badly.
I don’t have an answer to the question at this moment, but y’all have given me so many ideas I feel the need to go to Sephora’s website now. I need to check out Rouge G and also Tom Ford (finally).
I’m not entirely sure I know what is meant by “luminous.” Does that mean shimmery? I could count on one hand the number of lipsticks I have that could be considered shimmery, but I’m not sure I’d call any of them luminous. Even though I despise lipgloss, I do own a few, and one from Aromaleigh (Gorgon) is probably luminous.
I’ve always been curious about Rouge G. Maybe this will be the year I take that step (seems to be a theme)
