What's your current everyday makeup routine?

I don’t really have one, since I wear products I’m testing all the time, so it varies a lot from day to day (or eye to eye!). But if I did have one, it would probably be: filled in brows, teal eyeliner, coral blush, rosy-brown or peach-brown lip, medium coverage foundation. If I had the time to do so, I would be likely to do a fair amount of eye makeup everyday, but I’ve never been the type of person to wear the same look back-to-back!

I go full-face! Sunscreen, primers (face, eye, lip, lash), foundation, brows, setting powder, bronzer, blush, highlighter, finishing powder, 3 or 4 color eyeshadow look, eyeliner, curled lashes with mascara, lipstick and then a setting spray. It takes me about 30-45 minutes but I look forward to it. I pick a look for the week on Sunday night and get my vanity tray all set up so everything is at the ready and I can enjoy putting my face on (instead of scurrying around or just slapping whatever on in a hurry).

WischMoppel Avatar

Getting a vanity tray ready beforehand is a good tip. I’m gonna try this, thank you. May I know what lip and lash primer do you use/or like to use?

Pearl Avatar

Welcome!

For lash, I use Dior’s lash primer because I’ve gotten samples, but I like it and when I run out I am going to purchase. I never used lash primer before but love it because it helps with volume and lengthening (for me), especially if I’ve curled my lashes. My lashes won’t hold a curl unless I set immediately with waterproof mascara, though, so I curl, use the primer and then set with waterproof mascara immediately afterward.

For lip, I use the EOS peppermint, the Bite Beauty (which also has peppermint – I think there is something about the mint?) and also MAC Prep and Prime lip primer. EOS’s and Bite’s has more of a non-slip, almost matte chapstick feel which I like whereas MAC’s has more slip – almost like a matte gloss? I”m preferring the Bite’s and EOS’s lately and will just use up my MAC; I don’t know if I will repurchase MAC’s.

Also – I forgot to include this – but I use a clear waterproof/featherproof lip liner because I can get feathering into lip lines depending on liner or lipstick texture. Sephora and Makeup Forever have good ones. I’ve used this as a lipstick primer also and it works wonderfully.

I do a full face of makeup every day. But I try to do a good job so that it stays in place and I only have to touch up a little lipstick and powder. It takes me about 15 min, but it really lasts 12 hours until I get home!

1. Primer
2. Foundation
3. Eyeshadow primer
4. Powder
5. Contour, blush, highlighter
6. Eyebrow pomade & powder
7. 2-3 shades of eyeshadow
8. Curl lashes
9. Eyeliner
10. Lash primer & mascara
11. Setting spray
12. Lip liner & lipstick

I use almost the same products every day except for eyeshadow and lipstick– those are where I get a little variety.

Okee, so here goes!
1.) Eye cream 2.) Moisturizer w/sunscreen 3.) Face primer 4.) Foundation 5.) Eye primer 6.) Browbone e/s usually MAC Orb 7.) Fill brows 8.) Apply whatever the heck kind of eyeshadow look I’m up for that day, and it changes literally daily! 9. Tightline upper lash/ waterline & curl lashes 10.) Do cat-eye and apply mascara 11.) Contour cheeks lightly, apply blush and cheek highlight 12.) Apply concealer 13.) Set the whole kabang with powder 14.) Apply lip primer, line, apply lipstick. Optional: Lipgloss may either sub for a lipstick, enhance a lipstick or not even be an option!

Eos lip balm first. Face primer, Nyx CC Cream in Green Light/Medium over any redness, medium coverage foundation, then powder. Then I use powder contour lightly under my cheekbones, around my chin, and down my nose. Blush of the day. Highlighter on cheekbones, and more lightly on forehead, down my nose, and on my chin. Eyeshadow primer, then the eyeshadows du jour (4-6 for most looks). Fill in and brush brows. Spray face with setting spray. Add eyeliner to go with eye look, and use black pencil liner on top and bottom waterlines, then two coats of black mascara. Line lips and fill in with lip color of the day.

I usually go with a pretty neutral eye for everyday and use a lot of one shadow looks. I love mauves, grey/lavender and cool toned browns for an everyday eye look. Mascara is my must have product and even if I don’t wear anything else I will always put on mascara and usually several coats. I like a very lashy look. For my base I prefer to use a cushion foundation as they can be worn very lite coverage or built to medium coverage. They are easy to take along and reapply during the day if needed without looking cakey. I spend more time on attempting to color correct and conceal my hyperpigmentation and as I have mentioned several times I haven’t really found anything that is full coverage when it comes to hyperpigmentation. For blush I usually use a neutral colored blush unless my eye shadow runs cool and then I use a pinkier shade. I wear my blush pretty minimal though, just a lite wash of color. I don’t wear highlight, bronzer or contour on a daily basis. When it comes to lipstick, I don’t follow any hard and fast rules. I generally like my lipstick pretty bold and rarely wear a nude or lip gloss only lip cover. I just don’t think I look awake until my bright lipstick is on. So that would be my routine for most days but there are days when all I do is one layer of cushion foundation, mascara and lipstick and call it good. When I do a full face of makeup I don’t like to be rushed. I like to enjoy the experience so it isn’t something I can do in 15 minutes and be ready to walk out the door.

Jade Avatar

I don’t wear makeup everyday, but when I do, it’s Garnier BB Cream, MAC Soft Ochre and then Brule all over the lid, brow pencil and powder, mascara and tightline, set with MAC MSFN, powder blush (recently Hourglass Mood Exposure), and a plum or berry lip. I just bought MAC O Lipstick, so that might be a new regular lippy!

My go to weekday makeup routine is very consistent (read: boring).

1) After my sunscreen absorbs, a pump of Chanel Le Blanc. I’ll smooth it around my face with my fingers.
2) Next is foundation – I like the click wand formulas right now, Surratt’s is great. A few dabs, sheer it out with fingers and buff out any lines if necessary.
3) Concealer under my eyes
4) Translucent powder
5) Brows – usually ABH brow wiz and/or the Suqqu brow pen.
6) Eyeshadow – I have a boring palette of matte neutrals from Surratt that is my go to (Chamois as an all over wash, Griége/ombre on the lid, Brun Noir in the outer v, Soie as a highlight )
7) Curl my eyelashes
8) Eyeliner – always By Terry Kohl Terrybly in Brown Secret
9) Some sort of matte neutral bronzer as a ‘contour’ colour (surratt Grisaille or TF Terra usually) under my cheekbones
10) Blush if I remember
11) Mascara (always after I get dressed, otherwise I invariably end up smudging my clothe!)
12) Grab a lipstick and run out the door. If I have an extra few minutes, I’ll fill in my lips with one of Charlotte Tilbury lip cheats

Geez, that looks like alot when I write it all down. It doesn’t take that long – maybe twenty minutes in total? Usually, I’ll be brushing my teeth, pottering around the house, etc at the same time. I actually find it one of the more relaxing parts of my day!

Mariella Avatar

Lately, I’ve been leaving off my IT CC cream with SPF 50 because I don’t need that much protection so I’ve been using Clinique’s cream with SPF 20 (I think it’s Super Defense). So pretty simple face – no foundation at all, just Nars Goulue or MAC Sweet Sentiment blush, Clarins Brown eye quad, Gosh Metallic Brass liner, concealer and UD Rapture lipstick (the old formula).

Kimberly Avatar

CosRX Snail Mucin to moisturise, followed by Cetaphil Daylong SPF50 Sunscreen. The snail mucin mostly hydrates, while the sunscreen acts like a second layer to lock in the moisture.

I prime my eyes with UD primer potion and then usually go for a neutral smokey-ish eye makeup (I like UD Lounge/Tonic for single shadow looks, and ABH MR’s Antique Bronze + Buon Fresco), applying Heroine Make Long + Curl waterproof mascara after curling lashes. Depending on the eye look, I’ll use either Clinique Pansy Pop or H&M Beauty’s Pure Radiance Powder Blush in Rosy Brown on top of my UD Naked Skin Foundation + Concealer base. I’ve been liking full and straighter brows lately, so I’ve been using ABH Brow Wiz + the Clear Gel. It’s been quite cold here so I stick to lipstick bullets, usually MAC Twig or Maybelline Maple Kiss.

Tanya Avatar

I never wear the same looks every day. My eyeshadow palette collection is huge, therefore I make a point of rotating through them every day. I usually skimp on concealer, contour and highlight, wearing only a light layer of powder foundation and blush, to save time.

Bibi Maizoon Avatar

My everyday look is the monochromatic thing Yes, I’m one of those who goes no further than choosing ‘warm’ or ‘cool’ for the day as far as cheek/eye/lip colors go.
Being 51 yrs old wearing foundation & undereye concealer is now a MUST. Then I choose my warm pinks/nudes Z palette or my cool pinks/nudes Z palette. My once enviable brows have faded so I had them microbladed on and my feline flick eyeliner is permanent makeup too. I do a quick swoop of clear brow gel to tidy up my brows and use a black, violet or grey pencil along my water line and ta daaaaaa! I’m set for the day!

LindaP Avatar

Two of the best times of the day…putting makeup on, then washing it off. 🙂

Color correct stick
BB cream
Foundation
Becca under eye brightener
Concealer
Set it with Charlotte Tilbury air brush finishing powder

Brows

Some version of a neutral eye. Branching out into the purple tones these days– whoohoo — taking a walk on the wild side. 🙂

Sweep of bronzer on contour areas and forehead
Blush — either a coral-ly color or, lately, Nars Gouloue, which is a berry tone
Maybe some gentle highlighter like the Nudestix skin gloss

Lipstick — addicted to Givenchy #103 Brun Createur of late, although #203 Rose Dentelle is sneaking in a bit

Wednesday Avatar

I have three looks:
1. regular skin care and call it a day. I’m completely barefaced a lot lately
2. a little more pulled together: regular skin care, a BB or tinted moisturizer, concealer, fill in brows, mascara on upper lashes, lip balm. Sometimes I will add an eyeliner and smoke in. either burgundy, taupe or bronze
3. the full look: change the minimal look to medium cover foundation, add blush and highlighter, either do up my lips or eyes as focal point, but never both, I’m finding keeping things super simple works rather than full on battle gear right now.
Options 1 and 2 take up the majority of the week.

Hannah Avatar

primer, sheer coverage foundation, concealer, matte powder, contour, bronzer, nude blush, highlighter. for the eyes, I do a primer, a skin toned shadow to set and a matte bronzer in the crease, nude liner for the waterline, and mascara. I always use mac fix+ and nyx matte finish spray. for lips, I usually go for a mid-tone brown nude.

My current routine is:
– NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Cannelle under my eyes and on any blemishes
– Chanel Perfection Lumiere foundation in B20 (So sad they stopped making this formula)

L’Oreal BB (loving it before I get too pale),
MaxFactor concealer (sheer coverage but works nicely with the BB) and setting under-eyes with KOBO transparent pressed powder.
Benefit’s Cheekathlon – some Hoola for contour and any blush matching my mood/outfit.
Highlighter from BELL.
Brows using CATRICE powders or the Maybelline double ended pencil/powder. And/or brow gel.
Maybelline Color Tattoo matte nude for eye primer.
Any eye palette that calls my name – matte contouring + something shiny on the lid + darkest eyeshadow for liner + inner corner highlight.
Mascara from Maybelline.

My everyday is basically the FOTD I posted but without the freckles and with any lipstick color. I always do naturally defined brows with ABH powder duo and spot conceal where needed with MUFE Full Cover over well moisturized skin, and highlight with Becca Pearl liquid and/or cream. Lately I’ve switched to NYX Control Freak brow gel, which I feel has better hold than Benefit, is cheaper, and gives a more natural look because it’s clear rather than tinted. I typically skip blush, but use NYX Taupe to contour my jaw and sometimes lightly on my cheekbones. It’s not a must-do step like brows or mascara, but it takes 30 seconds, so I usually do contour.

I like the fresh faced look of minimal eyeshadow right now, so I generally only use an eyeliner for definition on the eyes, whether it’s MAC Powersurge Kohl on the waterlines, UD Mushroom on the top lid or smudged out as a one product smoky eye, or Stila liquid liner on the outer half tapering to a flick. Black mascara over curled lashes, and we’re done with eyes in time to catch the train.

Lips can be anything, I probably have 50 or 60 lip products if you count Lip Tars. This basic, neutral foundation is flattering and faux low maintenance (faux maintenance?) with just about any lip you can throw at it.

My base is the same day-to-day, it’s my eye and lip colors that tend to change. So…
Armani Light Master Primer
Armani Maestro Glow Foundation #6
3 Custom Color cream blush – custom color
Burberry Cashmere Concealer Ivory (bought the wrong color by mistake, meant to get Porcelain)
Tom Ford Bronzer Terra
Tom Ford Moodlight highlighting duo

I’ve been wearing more red lips lately, trying to get more comfortable seeing myself in it and not worrying about how it’s wearing throughout the day. So as a result, I’ve been doing a more neutral eye look – but eye shadows are probably where you see the biggest variety in terms of color for me overall.
Chantecaille Les Glaciers trio palette
Marc Jacobs or Armani gel liner in black in the tightline
Benefit Roller Lash

For the red lips, I’ve been playing around with Armani Rouge D’Armani in 400, Armani Rouge Ecstasy in 400, Cle de Peau Annees Falls lip palette #1 and what I had planned for today – Tom Ford Patent Lip Finish in Red Corset; I ended up in By Terry Rouge Expert Click Stick in Mimetic Beige #1 and Armani Flash Lacquer in #107 (discontinued). Otherwise my lips tend to be pinky/nude mauves or plums.

9. NYX brow mascara
10. Whatever lip product I’m feeling, low key is Fresh balm or if I’m eating Bite Matte Lip Crayon or if it’s a nice event, probably a UD Vice lipstick or a Bite Amuse Bouche.

Skin care: Light lotion, and SPF 60 sunblock.

Base: I’ll use ELF green tinted primer patted onto the apples of my cheeks and blend outward, Then I take a small amount of MUFE Step one Mattifying Primer, and i’ll pat that onto my forehead, between the brows, nose, chin, and upper lip. I then let that that set and dry. Then I’ll take MUFE Mat Velvet+ foundation (I’m in the shade 40!!) and i’ll squirt a bit onto the back of my hand, then i’ll do one swipe on each cheek, a dot on my forehead, a half dot on my chin and nose. I know this is like. Makeup “Sinning” But i like to use my hands to blend my foundation in!! I USUALLY use Hard Candy Glamoflauge in Light/medium under my eyes (I use a pin head amount!!) But I got a sample thingy of Kat Von Dee Lock it Concealer Creme. I’v been mixing the shades Light 3 Warm and Light 11 Neutral and i’ll dot the smallest amount of that under my eyes and blend it out with a fluffy brush. I’ll then set everything with Sephora brand Matte Perfection Powder Foundation in 18 Golden linen!!

Cheeks: In the Summer/spring: I’ll use a shimmery pink or coral blush. In the Fall/Winter: I’ll use Smashbox Halo blush in Warm glow, OR Clinique Cola Pop!! I’m a highlight JUNKY/HOE. If I don’t wear it friends ask if i’m sick/okay ahaha. In the summer use Sephora brand baked Luminizor in 01 Stardust. It’s a yellow gold and it works so well with coral blushes!! In the Winter, I use The Balms Mary-LouManizor!

Eyes: I change the actual shade I use on the lid every day. But I use the same crease/outer V/highlight shades almost every day!! I’ll start the look off with Too faced shadow insurance, then Sephora brand eye shadow in Swan Song (Matte light light pink) to set my eye shadow primer. I’ll take Coastal Scents Barista (Matte, medium, warm, brown!!) and i’ll fluff that through the crease!! I’ll then take EITHER (Sometimes both if i’m feeling extra) MAC Embark (Matte reddish brown) Or MAC Mulch (Warm lightly shimmery reddish golden brown) and i’ll PAT that onto the outer half of my mobile lid. Then I’ll take my lid shade (Usually MAC Woodwinked, Cranberry, Or Humid!! One of those!) and pat that onto my inner half of my lid, then I’ll take a pencil brush and blend out my outer corner with MAC Embark. I’ll usually take Coastal Scents Barista or MAC Embark on my lower lashline. Then MAC Nylon lightly on my brow bone/heavily on my inner corners. I’ll then do a super light coat of mascara, then apply falsies and eyes are done!!

Brows: I’ll take Annabelle Brows to go kit in Deep/Dark. And I’ll stroke the darker powder lightly through my already super full brows, mostly to add colour back to my brows. Then to set the brows I take Essence brow to go in Brownie brow or something.

Lips: Again I change it every day. But lately it’s been Colourpop Sookie, Prim, or Tulle!! I don’t feel like ME until I’m wearing dark/deep/dramatic lips!!

😀

Eyeshadows — at minimum: crease, then lid. If I have time, then: add outer corner and brow
Mascara — always brown (black too harsh on me), non-waterproof (better for my contacts)
Brow pencil
Foundation
Concealer — spot, redness a/o undereye
Blush
Finishing powder
Lips — usually a thin film of Jack Black then a lip color; occasionally just straight to a gloss

I work at home so many times I don’t wear a thing just let my skin breathe and cleanse between makeup applications. For me sunblock, as primer I’m using Cera Ve moisterising cream is on the thick side fills beginning to age lines and foundation goes on smooth. I have primer but hardly use it. A light foundation such as Loreal Infallible or Maybelline Fit Me both on the dewey side. Whatever eyeshadow color I’m up to for the day I like nudes and have plenty but prefer a kick of color such as lavender, purples and blues, also love Rose/golds and browns for my hazel eyes. Love to change blushes also on a daily basis. Blush is magic on my face from looking drag to healthy. I apply it lightly but boy do I need it! Lipsticks I love berries, reds, corals, sometimes pink, lately have gone into the more darker vampy colors for winter and love the look. Surprise! Surprise! Translucent powder. Mascara. I don’t use eyeliner everyday or curl my lashes. Oh! And have fallen victim of highlighter love them! Sometimes bronzer and contour my cheeks but I blend, blend everything so it is dirt if a natural look. For a wedding or especial evening I’ll add a second swipe of mascara and attempt a smokey eye. I love changing and having different colors but light in the brush!

Brows, curled lashes and mascara, some concealer on blemishes, hourglass dimlight dusted over, neutral blush like nars Madley or Clinique nude pop, innercorner highlight to the eyes, skintone eyeliner in the waterline… lips vary from nothing, over nude to bold red…

After skincare and SPF 50, I use primer on my lids, and face, the brand varies I also colour correct where needed. I then use a lot of eyeshadows, liner, mascara, followed by foundation, concealer and powder. After that I do my brows, blush and a bit of hightlighting. I finish with lipstick or gloss, sometimes I prime my lips and use a lip pencil, depending on what lip product I’m using. Oh, I almost forgot, when all’s done I use UD Allnighter setting spray.
I use a lot of different brands and different eyeshadows, some weeks I decide I have to use only one palette for a week, somthing I find hard to do 🙂
The only constants in my makeup the last months have been MAC lose CCpowder, Illamasqua blush in Hussy, H&M Beauty eyeliner in shimmery black and ABH brow powder and browgel.

I pretty much wear all different kinds of makeup on different days; it varies a ton! BUT, I do have a go-to look for when I go out to parties (which will be 4 days in a row for me this weekend since I’m in college and its Halloween weekend!) I need a makeup look that enhances my features and will last all night through all the drunken escapades and will wear away with grace! So, my routine is:

1) Becca ever matte primer on oily areas aka nose and forhead
2) Covergirl outlast primer everywhere else
3) eye cream!!
4) UD color corrector in peach under the eyes
5) tarte shape tape under the eyes and over any major blemishes
6) covergirl ready set gorgeous foundation applied with a dry beauty blender to give more coverage, though I do lightly mist it with ELF mist and set first (dupe for MAC fix+)
7) contour and bronze; i use the pixi natural contour powder and too faced chocolate soliel
8) a light dusting of thebalm’s balm desert as blush
9) UD primer potion eyeshadow primer, set with MUFE HD loose powder
10) usually I skip eyeshadow, but last night I put just a light mid-tone brown color in the crease and that’s it!
11) brows with whatever brow pencil I’m using atm, set with ABH clear brow gel
12) l’oreal volumious lash primer, essence lash princess mascara, ulta raincoat mascara in that order
13) a light pink or nude lip, something that wears away well and isn’t too dark so it won’t smudge everywhere
14) spray my face with WNW setting spray and put some oil in my hair and I’m ready to rock!

I see most of the readers here really love a full face makeup. That’s what happens when you’re a makeup junkie. Myself included.
Since most of the people who comment are the same, it would be so interesting to know the approximate age as we could really learn about products that could suit us. I’ve taken some very good tips from readers here!

Sadly, I’ve been so busy lately that I haven’t worn fun makeup in a couple weeks… I wish life would just settle down.

Daily I usually mix Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation in Fair Beige with Kat Von D Lock-It Foundation in shade 42 and set it with Revlon Color-Stay powder in Translucent (which I dislike, but I’m trying to use it up). I also do my brows quickly with Benefit Gimme Brow.

If I get a little extra time I might apply Kat Von D Metal Crush eyeshadow in Thunderstruck to my lids, throw on a bit of Benefit Roller Lash mascara, and put on Milani lipstick in Matte Naked.

Oh, I change the colors and try new formulae, but my everyday goes: base, eyebrows, powder, shadow, liner, mascara, bronzer, miracle blur on my forehead, blush, reverse lip liner, lipstick. The only specific products that are every day are the bronzer (Chanel), the lipliner (Cargo), and the Miracle Blur. Foundation stays pretty consistent until I run out, then I might start a different one. Right now it’s Maybelline Fit Me Dewy and Smooth.

Only real exception is if I am having eye allergy issues, I skip the shadow-liner-mascara and just do the rest. No sense irritating or calling attention to swollen, flaky, red eyes.

I’ve been doing this following routine every day since early October.
*MAC Prep+prime Moisture Infusion (as moisturizer)
*TheBalm tinted moisturizer
*Rimmel Stay Matte powder (on my T-zone)
*Wet n Wild Color Icon Bronzer in Ticket To Brazil as bronzer
*MAC Technikohl black eyeliner in waterline
*Benefit Goof Proof eyebrow pencil
*NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in London
I’m a college student and I don’t want to spend too much time in the morning getting ready, especially during first weeks, midterms, and finals. This routine is easy, fool-proof, and appropriate in an academic environment. Once I managed this routine, I can now do all of the above within 5 minutes.
If I have some extra time, I’d put on MAC Harmony blush, Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze, and some pencil/gel eyeliner smudged out.
