What are the top five beauty products on your holiday wishlist?

I am fortunate that I have been able to purchase most of this year’s holiday offerings just to review them, so I am not really longing for anything in particular. I would like to see Tom Ford’s new candles in person to see why the price is what it is (over the top, which I expected, but still).

I am honestly so overwhelmed by the sheer amount of offerings that much is still being decided!
1.) Some of MAC’s holiday Nutcracker Sweet Collection, esp. one of the cheek duos, a deep purple lipstick, etc.
2.) Probably UD Full Spectrum if it reviews and swatches well.
3.) Considering the Estee Edit holiday palette duo?
4.) Or Viseart Bijoux instead?
5.) A few more UD Vintage goodies; Oil Slick and Bruise l/s’s and Frostbite and Plague e/s’s!

Linda Avatar

1. BECCA Rose Quartz highlighter (Sephora won’t ship to Canada anymore though)
2. Ciate x Chloe Morello palette
3. Marc Jacobs flesh and fantasy blush
4. Hourglass Dim Infusion blush
5. Clinique Illuminating Powder in 01

In no particular order:

-Bobbi Brown shimmer brick palatte
-MAC holiday- especially the lipgloss sets
-NARS- definitely want to try at least one velvet lip glide.
-Too faced and Kat VonD collab- I don’t own much from either brand, so I figure it’s a good way to try them both.
-A few skin care sets: one with philosophy purity and still looking at others.

Katherine T. Avatar

Great question!
*MAC Nutcracker Face Compact – Whisper of Gilt/Pleasure Model
*MAC Nutcracker-Magic Dust Powder in Sweet Visions
*MAC Nutcracker – Nude Lip Kit
*UD Full Spectrum -assuming it swatches well
*ColourPop – have no idea what they are doing for holidays, but I know they won’t disappoint!
*Kat Von D MetalMatte – this was on the list, but I bought it, so I can it cross off 🙂

Hi Susan, I saw part of the collection at my local Boston Store (a Bon Ton company). I see the full collection has launched on bobbibrowncosmetics.com – probably the easiest place to see the collection as a whole. Nordstrom. com is also selling the collection but you have to hunt for some of the pieces as not all are listed under ‘Holiday’.

Susan Avatar

Thank you all! I thought I was up on all the Bobbi offerings this year,; this one was a surprise to me. I’ve already purchased two other palettes from the anniversary & holiday, but I’ve been looking for a burgundy e/s, and so will check this one out too!

Marie-Estelle Avatar

I already bought some items I want for the holidays :
Sakura brush set Chikuhodo x Beautylish – bought
Marc Jacobs icon 20 palette
Viseart bijoux royal palette
VB x Estée Lauder highlighter – bought
Master palette by Mario

The highlighter might not be for the holiday collection… But this it give me the same pleasure than what a “holiday item” should give me, I decided to includ it!

I also wanted to splurge on a lip dry but I didn’t find anything yet!

Tanya Avatar

I really want to get Huda Beauty palette and Urban decay Full spectrum palette. I already got Kat Von D Metal matte palette which was on my list and UD Electric palette that i was eyeing for a long time.

Anne Avatar

I always treat myself to a fragrance set at Christmas. Last year I bought Bottega Veneta Knot and love it. This year — I don’t know. Does anyone have a non-cloying floral to recommend (especially white flowers and musk)?

Genevieve Avatar

That is one of my favourite perfumes – I always get a fragrance at Christmas too.
Here are some of my favourites:
YSL Black Opium
Aronmatics by Clinique
Poeme by Lancome
Modern Muse by Estee Lauder
And Aerin Lauder has a beautiful range out too – Waterlily Sun is lovely. They are very expensive though.

Agona Avatar

I already purchased them as they came out *blush* but here’s what I’ve gotten so far!

1. Bite Beauty Mistletoe
2. bareMinerals 12.0 Wish List
3. bareMinerals Glow Together (cheek trio)
4. bareminerals My Kiss is on Your Lips (GenNude lipstick set)
5. Cargo Chill in the Six palette

Monica Avatar

1) Anastasia Mario Palette
2) Bite beauty duo–in sour cherry/gold
3) Bite Beauty Gold Crème
Not exactly a makeup item, but the Deva Curl Devafuser too.

I’ve been a good girl, Santa!

Caroline Avatar

Cargo Chill In The Six Palette
MAC Liptensity Toast And Butter
MAC Liptensity Mulled Spices
… and the rest is still ‘under construction’ ….

AB Avatar

I am so overwhelmed by the choices that I’ve only just decided to even make a list versus decide by the each. So for now only three and I’m sure this will change
1 — Bite Beauty’s lip duos (shimmer/satin combos)
2 — ABH Mario palette or some set of dupes for the shades I like
3 — Sephora’s most recent lip set (I think it’s named ‘lip and liner’ something)
Oh, and I want the Clinique Pink Honey Pop but that’s not holiday per se; and, I was also wanting a shimmery warm plum, but found it in ColourPop’s Wolfie, so no need to keep on a wish list.

Linda Avatar

1. Christine’s review of the Ciate London Chloe Morello palette. 🙂 That will put it on my list or not.

2. Jo Malone Mimosa and Cardamom cologne.

3. A better contour brush, but I’m not sure which one. Suggestions?

NancyM Avatar

You might try the Kevyn Aucoin contour brush. I tried it out, and it’s interesting…kind of flat topped, but small, and more loosely packed than a typical flat topped brush. I prefer a really subtle cheek contour, and it gave me the control I was looking for. HTH!

Rachel R. Avatar

1) Urban Decay Full Spectrum Palette, though I’ll probably get it for my birthday rather than Christmas.
2) A filled SugarPill Pro Palette. I’m still working out what shadows I want, but there will be lots of brights.
3) Elizabeth & James Nirvana Bourbon
4) Too Faced Park Avenue Kisses lipstick trio
5) MUFE Artist Palette Vol 4

(I’ve already bought the Tarte Amazonian Blush Color Wheel, the two Urban Decay lip palettes, the UD Ultimate Basics Palette, and the Kat von D Metal Matte Palette.)

Wajiha Avatar

1) Kat Von D Metal Matte Palette
2) Charlotte Tilbury Instant Look in a Palette *if* she does another one. The last one sold out on the Australian site while I was in the process of buying it and it then sent me to a waitlist page for the next one coming ‘later in the year’. I don’t even know if that later has happened yet or not. Let’s see, It’s just a hunch.
3) Not holiday at all but this is factoring in all my purchase decisions so I’ve included a placeholder for IMATS (it’s in mid November in Sydney). I want to get viseart matte palettes and maybe the mac editorial reds and metal palettes from MUFE and whatever else catches my eye. Anybody got any suggestions?
4) Maybe one of the skincare sets or advent calendars. Currently tossing between the one from Look Fantastic and the O beauty set from Lancome. Depends on how much money I’ve spent come end-Novemeber
5) I don’t think it will ever be available anywhere that sells or ships to Australia but I’m intrigued by the Nyx Loves L.A. set

Bonnie Avatar

I often purchase beauty from Ebay. If there are any issues, you contact the seller to work it out and if you can’t (rare) then Ebay will moderate. Unless you have a history of unreasonable complaints, they usually side with the buyer. If you use Paypal, that’s an added layer of protection. Ebay is great for hard-to-find items, and also for really expensive ones. Sometimes they are less costly.

Blue Avatar

I rarely buy from holiday collections but my current top five dream shopping carts are:

Melt: Gunmetal Stack, Fixated e/s, Space Cake l/s, and DO GAF l/s

Anastasia: Modern Renaissance Palette

Kevyn Aucoin: Sensual Skin Enchancer

NARS: Schiap and Funny Face lipsticks (Funny Face would be a repurchase and is maybe my all time favorite lipstick), Albatross highlighter

Zoya: Ash, Hudson, Ivanka (I used a whole bottle up and want to repurchase this too, in spite of the name!), Raine, and Blaise

aaaand as a bonus I wouldn’t say no to more Paula’s Choice CALM moisturizer with SPF 30 for dry skin, or to a MAC Stone lip pencil either 😛

Heather Avatar

-A few good eye brushes–I’m thinking some Hakuhodo J-series would be nice!
-Tarte Color Wheel Blush Palette (which I already bought, but am saving until Christmas)
-ViseArt Paris Nudes (probably not in the budget, though, if I get the brushes)
-The Sephora Favorites Glow For It set (if it magically gets restocked–kicking myself for not buying when it was available!)
-maybe the Bite Beauty Opal/Jam duo? I’ve wanted Opal for a long time, and berry lipsticks are kind of my jam. (Ha! I made a pun!)

Jennifer Avatar

So far only these….

1) Ciate x Chloe Morello palette
2) MAC Nutcracker Face Compact in Whisper of Gilt and Pleasure Model

I would also kinda like the ABH Master Palette by Mario, but I will only allow myself one eye shadow palette, and right now I’m really wanting the Ciate palette. I’m certain that as we get closer to the holiday I will want to add more to my wish list!!!

Deborah S. Avatar

I have already purchased quite a lot for my daughter for Christmas although, horror of horrors, she doesn’t want a “lot of makeup for Christmas.” She is at college and says she doesn’t have anymore room. I suggested sacrificing the bed but it is a no go.
1. I wanted the VB-Estee Lauder bronzer which is sold out everywhere but I am hoping still to get one for her. She has a darker complexion than I so I thought it would be beautiful for her.
2. I am going to pick up several pieces from the MAC Nutcracker release including the blush.
3. After seeing the MAC releases swatched this morning I think I am going to have to get a couple of the metallic shadows.
4. I will get the Mega Pro 3 as I have the other two and the regular Pro 3 so want this years release for my collection.
5. A couple of Nars lip velvets. I love all Nars lip products so just a matter of deciding which colors would work for my very fair/cool undertones.
And though not a Christmas release, I do plan on buying the scent Balenciaga for myself for Christmas.

Wajiha Avatar

Hi Deborah the VBxEsteeLauder bronzer it is on Net-a-Porter’s US and UK site. You could also could it from Harrod’s and Selfridges and the saving in VAT will offset the shipping. If you get it from Selfridges you could opt for their Selfridges+ program where you pay around 40USD once and then get free shipping for a year.

Alice Avatar

1. The MAC nutcracker sweet cheek duos.
2. L’Occitane “3 gifts from Provence” set. Their minis are my fav for travel.
3. Bite beauty lip duo in opal/jam.
4. Estee Edit gritty & glow palettes.
5. Possibly the Urban Decay Vice lipstick palette.

Surprisingly none of the ColourPop fall collection, because even though it’s pretty awesome I have dupes for everything I like.

Emilie Avatar

1. Marc Jacobs Up All Night lipstick set
2. Urban Decay Moondust Palette
3. Beauty Blender (never had one before!)
4. Bite Beauty Multistick in Praline
5. Kat Von D MetalMatte Eyeshadow Palette

Not all of these are specifically holiday releases, but they’re all on my wishlist this season! I hope to be picking up all of them (or at least some) during the VIB sale. 🙂

Lea Avatar

I’ve picked up most of what I’m interested in, but still remaining on my list are the Armani lip magnets which should be out soon. They’re up for pre-order on the Armani site and I’ve got it narrowed down to three colors I’m interested in, the Armani holiday palette I’d like to see in person (along with the new lip ecstasy’s) but it may be too gold for me; that’s an in person purchase I think. Last is the Tom Ford Winter Soleil palette in cool.

LaMaitresse Avatar

Tom Ford Warm Palette, Tom Ford Foiled Lipstick, Tom Ford 50 SPF defence block, maybe the cool palette if it tests B+ or higher, the new Tom Ford Full Coverage concealer/foundation ….. I’ve allocated all my pennies for Tom Ford, nothing else really interested me this year, not even Guerlain?!!

LaMaitresse Avatar

The Shu Uemera Murakami Holiday line is super cute, I have the travel brushes and eyelash curler on order, and I think I wouldn’t mind the cleansing oil. I just love Murakami, think it is the sweetest thing ever, it sounds childish but the little images always lift my mood!

S Avatar

None. I’d rather spend the money on having my brows tattooed, I spend so much on brow products in the first place and too much time on applying them every morning, plus I worry about them fading throughout the day because my face is oily. The brows are the thing, everything else is taken care of.

Bon Bon Avatar

Becca shimmer highlighter in opal, poured.
Diorshow blackout mascara.
“. ” Eyelash Primer.
Carols Daughter transformation cream oil.
UD all nighter setting spray.
All of which are ordered!

Nicole Avatar

Burberry Gold Shimmer quad (which I just received in today’s Sephora shipment, weee!) – I still regret not getting last year’s Gold palette.
Dior Precious Embroidery palette – after Christine’s review I was smitten.
Possibly one of the new Tom Ford Winter Soleil lipsticks – really crushing on Sea Dragon.
My Burberry EDP limited edition 3.0 oz bottle. (Technically it wasn’t on my wishlist but RIGHT NOW HauteLook has it for $69.99 I think it was instead of the usual $125 so I grabbed it. Plus it’s in a special holiday bottle. If you want it go get it!!)
The Wayne Goss Anniversary Set, which I was lucky enough to get already.

Silvia Avatar

I’m fully covered including a few highliters which I love! Lately, after reviewing millions of beauty bloggers in learning the game on what’s great on drugstore and they been working out perfectly from eye shows, blushes and lipsticks, foundations, eyeliners etc. And actually hear some high ends are not also that satisgyibg actually for all the all the hype. My dermatologists recently commented beauty is a huge business no kidding! But anything from NARS or Marc Jacobs Santa I won’t mind. ?

Tatiana Avatar

Only things I’m really curious about, but will look at first before purchasing are the Dior quint in Precious Embroidery and the NARS Sarah Moon dual intensity palette.
I bought one of the new Tom Ford candles. Pluses -It smelled so amazing. You could smell it even when it was wrapped. The glass container is beautiful and hefty. So is the metal lid which almost completely covers the candle. The wick is fairly soot free as well. The negatives… once I lit the thing there was almost no fragrance to be had. Sigh. I was going to splurge and get several. I’ve changed my mind, now I’m going to save and get one or two of the holiday candles from Cire Trudon.

LaMaitresse Avatar

Oh thank you so much for sharing, I’m sorry the candle was disappointing, I really wanted one myself, and now I can stop lusting. Was it quite small too for $250.00, since the burn time was only 40 hours, or am I mistaken in the burn time?

Tatiana Avatar

There is no burn time listed on the box. The outside glass dimensions are 3.5 inches high by almost 3 inches square. The glass is at least an eighth of an inch thick getting thicker and rounder at the corners. The box states that the candle itself is 2.25 in/5.7 cm high. I really felt like I paid for the design and packaging of the candle. I can’t deny that the coffret it comes in is very classy and Tom Ford. Alas, I am not keeping the box. Just stuck my nose in the cool candle and I do smell some Tobacco Vanille, just not as much as I had hoped for the price. I feel foolish for spending this much money on one candle and I pray my spouse never finds out how much I spent.

LaMaitresse Avatar

Ah, yes I can well imagine the beautiful leather lid and lovely glass. I’m nuts for scented candles, but that one was just too pricey for me for the size. I love Tom Ford but really $95.00 still says luxury or $150.00. $250 was out of my league now, years ago pre medication I would have bought 4!

Jessika Avatar

Nothing. No holiday collection from any brand is speaking to me. I might take a look into MAC’s holiday collection. I don’t know. But I doubt I’ll purchase anything.

Flaky Avatar

I was about to say the same thing. Nothing is calling out to me.

I do however have a LONG list of things for the Sephora vib sale – c’mon coupon code!!!!

Christy Avatar

Kat Von D MetalMatte
MUFE Holiday 2016 Artist Palette
Anastasia: Modern Renaissance Palette
MUFE shades Pink Ash, Grape, and Copper Red (the redder one)
Bite Beauty Opal/Jam duo

Genevieve Avatar

1. Estee Lauder & Victoria Beckham palette – I have to swatch it at least..
2.One of Laura Mercer’s eye and cheek holiday palettes
3. NARS’s Red lip collection that you showed us yesterday
4. Some really great skincare sets from Clinique or Clarins.
5. Becca blushes

As Sephora has just opened in a shopping centre not far from my place – I am really excited to go there and hopefully, we will have the same holiday deals as you in the States and Europe. I am just waiting for all the huge crowds to die down so I can visit.

Genevieve Avatar

I know! I never buy Estee Lauder from Myers or David Jones because they are just SO expensive. In the past it has been much cheaper to order the products from either the States or the UK. But with international shipping rates the way they are – so expensive, it has been hard to find an online retailer that stocks her products that ships at a reasonable price.
Have you ever used DealsDirect? It is an online shop that regularly has discounted products across a wider range of beauty, fashion, tech etc. I have used them many times and they are completely reliable.

Wajiha Avatar

No I haven’t I will have a look. Thanks 😀 I prefer shopping from Cult Beauty or Beauty Bay (All Beauty is pretty good too) because they have a fairly low minimum order amount for free shipping, exclude VAT and with the current low exchange rates vs. GBP area always better options than the US sites. Look Fantastic is pretty great too though they don’t remove VAT but have frequent discount codes floating about sometimes up to 33% so that helps 🙂

not entirely sure of the rest yet but some of the newer NARS items look amazing but are pricey AF

Maria Avatar

I purchased two so far the Cle de peau Les Annees Folles eye palette and one of the lip palette’s # 1 for Holiday 2016 which I love it is worth the money. I am thinking about getting the lip palette#2 also, but not sure yet. I would have liked to pick up one of Tom Ford’s holiday palette’s the cool but his prices are at the point where it is like he is saying why not over charge people because I can. I know that may sound silly but that is how I feel sometimes. I like quality and I don’t mind paying for it but I don’t like the feeling of being overcharged for no good reason. He usually brings back the same products several times even if they are limited editions.

Denise Avatar

Its Christmas every week at my house when it comes to buying makeup. But since its a Christmas wish list, there are some products I have my eyes on.
1). Tom Ford Soleil
2) Bobbi Brown wine & chocolate.
3)Mac Helmut collection
4)Mac Nutcrackers Sweet
5)YSL Holiday Sparkle Clash
6) Guerlain Holiday Collection
7) Mac Lipstensity Collection
8) Charlotte Tilbury Holiday and a new collection of Wayne Goss brushes.

Claire L Avatar

Oh my, so difficult to choose what to get!

1. A beauty advent calendar. Last year I had Lookfantastic’s The Beauty Secret and it was great. I wanted to get it again this year but I also want Paul and Joe’s one which is smaller (only 12 gifts) and cheaper so I’m going for that instead. I do love P&J though.

2. Morphe’s 35f Fall into Frost palette. It was on wait list on Cult Beauty and it became available today so I ordered it!

3. Ciate x Chloe Morello palette – bought, like it a lot. Mini review on this week’s Free for Haul.

4. Mac Nutcracker Sweet cheek duos. They look stunning.

5. Either the NARS Sarah Moon Lip Velvet Glide set or a Bite Beauty lipstick duo.

6. Either Viseart Bijoux Royal or Sleek’s Hidden Gems palette. Sorry I know it’s an extra one but there’s always room for more on a wishlist even if you don’t actually get it ?.

Lee Avatar

I really want the Anastasia Moonchild glowkit, but can’t see spending $40 on it. I’d also love some of the metallic lipsticks from Lime Crime, like Mercury, Blondie, and Happi, but they seem pretty expensive too, especially with shipping added in. I also really like the bralettes Torrid is selling for bigger busted women.

Naomi Avatar

The Lorac Mega Pro 3 was my #1, and I just got that for myself yesterday (hooray!). The only things that currently interest me are:
1) smashbox primer water. this has interested me for quite a while, it’s the only setting/primer spray with different ingredients that MAC fix+ type sprays and UD all nighter type sprays.
2) MUFE XL metal palette. I hear it’s way better than a Z palette, plus it can fit domed shadows as well!!
3) that new gold bite beauty lip gloss. I don’t think I’ll end up purchasing it, but I want to at least try it on.
4) a tom ford lippie!!! I missed out on his lips and boys collection, hope he brings it back around for the holidays this year!! especially if there’s one called Kris.
5) currently looking for a great peachy nude blush, was thinking too faced baby love, even though the longevity is terrible. I’ll have to check the dupelist!!

Barbara B Avatar

1) Guerlain Souffle d’Or de Shalimar Perfumed Iridescent Powder for Hair and Body. Already bought this . Didn’t get the La Petite Robe one two years ago and bought it on ebay two weeks ago. Figured I might as well not delude myself and bought it as soon as it came out.

2) Bobbi Brown The Nude Library – 25th Anniversary. Also already bought this. The Bobbi Brown Stonewashed Nudes palette was probably the only palette I ever used up in its entirety many years ago (still have it ) and that was included in this so I had to have it. I know people say quality is bad for Bobbi Brown shadows but I spent the $200 cause of that. I just like opening it and looking at it. Trying not to use it before Christmas lol.

3) Elizabeth and James Bourbon . Have to have something for the husband to buy me!

4) Bath and Bodyworks candle in Winter. At least two every year.

5) In a dream world, Philosophy Eggnog Shower Gel, but it looks like there is no chance of that again this year!

Jisela Avatar

This year I’m trying to be very selective, I already got the Urban Decay Ultimate Basic palette. But I also want BECCA Blushed with light palette, and Kat Von D Metal Matte palette, and the for ever sold out Tarte Shape Tape concealer .

Bonnie Avatar

1. All the Pantone Universe Color of the Year stuff as soon as it comes out. I keep checking, but I know I’m early.
2. Urban Decay Vice Vintage Lipsticks
3. Kat Von D metal matte eyeshadow
4. BH new metallic lip colors
5. Some other item that I haven’t thought of yet that I will oooh and ahhhh over.

Yvonne Avatar

ABH Mario palette (have the Modern Renaissance and love it)
Kat von D Lock it foundation
Kat von D concealer of a Nars one
Too Faced Grand hotel cafe

Next month we are going to Florida (from europe) and looking fw to shop at Sephora, Ulta en Target! Yeah!

Tamara Avatar

#1) The Nars x Sarah Moon Give In Take pallette, although I’m not sure it will work with my skin tone. #2) Nars Mind Games Velvet Lip Glides Set. #3) Tartelette In Bloom. #4) Tarte Blush Wheel. #5) something from the MAC holiday collection!!!
