If I ever get my bathroom redesign done (the vanity, etc. is all ordered and here; DH just has to do the work! HA!), I’ll be able to store my double ended brushes in a horizontal little holder (much like the pen holder in my very old office desk) but for now, they are a pain to store. I do like them though – I like getting double the brush for the price and I like how handy they can be (a flat brush on one end and a fluffy blender on the other, for example).
Same rant as everyone else – I keep my brushes sorted upright in cups and you can’t do that with the doubles. I did like the KVD contour one enough though to buy it. It has it’s own place laying flat in my main basket. I like the convenience of having the two-in-one, esp. for contour and highlight.
I don’t like them…I don’t use them…the end. Lol
I don’t mind them, at all, especially given the fact most have been “free”. I also have a hard case I store them in (a “bonus” with a Sonia Kashuk set), which is also convebient for travel. While I do pull several brushes for travel, I also toss the case in my bag-just in case I forget something I need. Fortunately, I have quite a few, and there’s a brush for every purpose. Plus, on the extremely rare occasion I don’t have a clean brush for a specific need, it’s likely I have something in there I can use. In some cases, I pull a few if I know I’ll need to touch-up during the day; since none are absolute favorites (or I have full-size/individual versions), I don’t worry about losing/damaging them.
I only have one, and I also store my brushes upright in a cup, so the side I don’t use as much and always put on the bottom is starting to splay.
I sell all the double ended brushes I get in palettes on ebay lol.
They just tend to suck in general!
OMG, I LOVE my Eco Tools double- ended eye brushes! They are $6 for a set of 2, so you’re getting 4 brushes for only $6. And many times it’s BOGO 50% off. One is a flat shadow brush/brow brush and the other is a crease/smudger brush. In the mornings, when I’m rushing, I can just use one end, flip it around, and use the other. I use 1 set every single day, and wash it every night with a little bit of Soft Soap. I let them dry overnight at a moderate horizontal slant, and have had no problems with hairs falling off or getting bent. And I store them standing up too, so I’m quite rough with the brushes. I have 4 sets that I rotate, have been using some for almost 3 years now, and they still look brand new! I have a bunch of ME and HE shadow brushes, but these are the ones I reach for 99% of the time.
My double-ended ones that I bought (i.e., they didn’t come in palettes) are Eco-Tools. I agree that they’re really good. Those are the ones I take traveling with me.
Yes, when I travel with them, I throw them into a ziploc bag, and they’re fine. The original set is 3 years old, and I figure I would use it until it fell apart, then I would buy some “real” brushes, but it’s still good LOL
Never gave it a second thought! I have the KVD eye and contour double ended brushes. I LOVE the eye one, and like++ the contouring one. I use them both every day. I just lie them in their little caskets when I’m done. It has no nuisance factor for me at all.
Call me the odd bird, but I do love them! And they are stored upright along with all my other brushes in a tumbler inside my 3 drawer storage unit. Because that tumbler is so full, everything stays in place very nicely, so NO squished brush heads. Besides, the UD ones are really nice quality, I think!
I agree. I store my brushes in cups and don’t want any the bristles to be crushed so avoid any double-ended brushes.
I love them! The storage is annoying, yeah, but I think they’re so functional. I have a broken mirror that was once part of a compact, so I use the hinge and clasp kind of like bookends and store these brushes in between. It’s so worth it to me for ease of use!
I love them for travel. Pretty easy for storage in my makeup case. I only use a carry on when I travel so any space saving items of use is helpful to me. Same for makeup – I try to carry mostly deluxe sizes as much as possible.
I’ve never bought one intentionally – the ones I have came in palettes and that’s generally where they stay. I store my brushes upright as well, so I’d only end up damaging one end.
My issue is less with storing and more with washing; I feel like when I flip them to wash the other in, I’m inevitably getting water into the ferrule!
I generally really dislike double ended brushes. I can see myself liking one if it was good quality and came in a palette-that could be really convenient for travel. But even then, I tend to bring travel brushes and forget the double ended brushes at home. So really that’s just a hypothetical situation and not how I do things in real life, lol.
They are awful. No raves here. Hard to store, and you can’t use both sides without getting shadow all over your hand. I am especially annoyed by them in palettes. I would much prefer a double ended liner.
Do not like, and don’t have any. I stand my brushes upright.
Never bought only because storage too! Also only seen at Kiko, but little dissapointed because its look like very good brushes, but not pratical at all! Why they do that? 2 mini brushes it will be better than 1 double ended brush…
i only have two double ended brushes and i only use one side of both… i tend to avoid them
I think they’re nice for travel, because they save room. However, like you, I store most of my brushes standing up, so double-ended are not practical for everyday use for me.
Yep, storing them is a hassle. I don’t really like them.
Hard to clean and hard to store. Might be handy for travel. I’ve never purchased on but have received a few GWP. I usually only one side.
I don’t like them for the same reason! I store most of my brushes in standing up in cups, and I can’t do that without the hair bending on the side that’s at the bottom with double-ended brushes.
Any double-ended brushes that I have all live with their original pallettes ( I’m thinking Urban Decay ).
Ditto!
For traveling, it can be handy to have in order to save space. But storing outside of a palette that came with the brush (like UD’s Naked palettes) or a brush roll that allows for both ends to be positioned well, that’s another story. One end tends to get damaged in the process.
I generally don’t like since I store standing up in a glass. I could devise a work around, but since I only have two 2-ended brushes (and only one of those I really like), I just haven’t gotten around to it yet.
Rave – saves space and time, especially when travelling or for touch ups on the go. I love the idea and every available double ended brush at least grabs my attention.
Rant – as I don’t love every brush I have, it’s rare to love both sides at once…
I store my brushes upright, so for me, it’s not a useful design.
