Dior Misty Mauve Eyeshadow Palette Review, Photos, Swatches (Fall 2010)
Dior Misty Mauve Eyeshadow Palette
More Plums for Fall — Dior-Style
Dior Misty Mauve Eyeshadow Palette ($58.00 for 0.21 oz.) is one of two new-for-fall eyeshadow quints (the other being Pink Design #808). It contains a soft, sparkling icy lilac; satin-matte gray purple; deep black-purple with silver shimmer; frosty white with just a hint of yellow; and muted pink-mauve with a shimmer sheen.
The pigmentation was decent overall, but the icy lilac was on the sheerer, powdery side while the gray purple definitely needs to be layered for a smooth, even look. The center shade–the blackened purple–is the most intense and will easily smoke out any look you desire. I see this quint working best on those with cooler skin tones, and I do see paler skin tones rocking this easier than darker ones, just because of the lighter, shimmery shades.
Are you plummed out or ready for more? Does this quint make your heart pitter-patter?

RECOMMENDATION: For cooler, paler skin tones, I think this is a great way to wear darker, plummier shades. It’s not quite as pigmented as some of the other quints I’ve reviewed in the past few years, so I’m a little bummed by that. I like, but I don’t love.

It’s nice, but I would never spend that much on an eyeshadow palette. There are less pricey brands out there who have equally gorgeous offerings. And since I buy so many eyeshadows, it’s just not worth it for me to spend that much. 🙂
Thanks for the review, however. I love seeing all the new fall collections. We are moving into spring one of these days, but I love the fall colours.
Very pretty! Definitely want it! 🙂
Thanks so much for the review. Your honesty is always very much appreciated!
I was wondering if you are going to review more of the Dior fall collection? (I’m especially excited about the new lip serums)
Yes, I definitely have more to review! Dior fall *just* arrived yesterday!
Would one of them be Pink Designer palette? 😀
No 🙁
Whow! Those colors are really nice! I love it!
Pretty! But it seems like more of the same colors from last year’s Fall collections. I splurged on the Dior Jazzclub #2 palette last year and haven’t used it much yet, so I think I’ll pass on this.
Honestly these colours look really great. I think I’ll check it out in the shops. I hope they are aviable around the same time in Germany ^^
This looks like a cool-neutral palette; Temptalia, do you think the palette is unique enough? I’m wondering if there are colors already in my already neutral-heavy stash that duplicate… Thanks for the great review!
I feel like I’ve seen it before, though it is a lovely palette on its own.
I have hazel eyes and light intermediate skin tone with pink undertone. I like green and violet colors on my eyes but now searching for something new. Plum should be not so bad on me generally but I’m not sure about greyish, black-plum and silver shimmer. I tried grey eye shadows and I don’t think that it is best choice for hazel eyes. Really want to try something new but have now idea where to start.
I think plum would work 🙂
Oh yes, yes yes! Thank you for the swatches. I’m NW20, blue-eyed and blonde, and I was hoping these shades wouldn’t be muddy. They look purr-fect for me. I always end up being a “Dior girl,” after looking at any Chanel quad! Chanel is usually gorgeous but way too warm for my coloring. Thanks again!
Oh, as for price, it has gone up, but I’ve only hit pan on 1 shadow in a quint from 2007, so you do get quite a bit of shadow from a HE brand.
Yes, I think it’d be great for you!
I think most brands increase prices every year or thereabouts, but these are essentially full-size shades (about 0.05 oz. each), so it’s not a bad deal (~$12 a pop).
That palette looks SO pretty!
Oooh beautiful! I’m definitely getting this palette when it’s available in my country! I’m NC15 with brown eyes and i’m pretty sure this’ll look good on me 🙂
Don’t think I will be purchasing this. I have almost all of the Dior quints but it’s really quite a splurge if you don’t wear the colors, and I look horrible in mauve. I bought Night Butterfly last year and so far all I’ve done is swatched it. Will also skip the Pink Design because I don’t like the texture of the Designer palettes (I have green and amber). They are a lot chalkier than the regular formula. Great for my wallet though!
I’m definitely going to have to swatch this on my NW15 skin!
Love Dior quads! Just wondering if you think this would work on NC40-42 skin? The two lightest colors in most quads are usually kinda light/frosty for me. Of course I keep buying them anyway!!!
I think this would just be OK. I don’t think it’s a must-have quad for warmer skin tones, and I feel ya… the lighter shades always veer sooo frosty!
thanks for an early greatly detailed swatch. I live for Dior quints from season to season and was looking for a swatch for a couple of weeks now. Last fall’s Night Butterfly quint is my HG.
thanks again.
Hi,
which quint do you prefer between this and the Stylish Move one?
And which of Dior palettes are better suitable for NC20 skintones, in your opinion?
Many thanks, and greetings from Italy =)
I’d say Stylish Move… I don’t think either naturally suits NC20, though.
Any idea where you will be able to buy this quint? Sephora has the Pink Design one up, but I don’t see this one.
Nordstrom!
Would this also look good on nc25 skin
It’s just so-so.
I just got this palette today. I’m Asian. I usually wear Sand or Warm beige. They are Bobbi Brown colors. I don’t know which NC I am, sorry.
I have no idea whether it will look good on me or not. I just bought it because it was so pretty and it caught my eyes like dying to get it.
I bought this palette last weekend and tried it. The color turned out gorgeous!!! Love it. It is worth the penny I spent, absolutely.
I like those colors and maybe I’ll buy this palette …maybe for my mum and then I will steal it from her! But first I want to be sure(I saw the price of it) so I ‘m waiting for more reviews!
