I’m so nervous too! The new formula of the matte shadows is a stinker, and I hope that’s not the case with the new blushes. The original blush formula was amazing. I hope this is just as good. I wish sometimes companies would leave good products alone. If it’s not broke, don’t fix it.

I’m really hesitant to try Makeup Geek products as of late (following the packaging problems, the sparklers, and the generally low reviews on shadows) buuuut some of these are calling my name! Fingers crossed for some good reviews on XOXO, Spellbound, and Covet.

I got XOXO in my boxycharm last month. Color is beautiful, packaging is fantastic. Haven’t had a chance to wear it yet, but I will tomorrow! I have plenty of the old formula, so I’m excited to see how they measure up.

Is it the same formula as their contour powders? I noticed the contour powders are a lot softer than the old blush formula. I might pick a shade or two up!

I have 8 of the old ones and they are wonderful!! I’m not really sure they needed a reformulation, they were well received and not old!

Hope this isn’t a case of not broken, so why fix it? Have to admit to suspecting mug of cutting corners to cut costs, not to mention rush to market, before it’s ready…….

Hi — Nick from Makeup Geek here 😉

While the original formula was really great, some people thought it powdered out a bit. So with the shades that remained, we wanted to tighten that up. Also, while working on the contours, we got a good powder formula that has a more creamy feel, so we wanted to take a step up in that regard too.

We’ve never made a formula change due to budgetary reasons. This formula is actually more expensive to make than the previous formula. If there’s a line that is significantly more expensive to make, we simple charge more for it (like the Foiled Eyeshadows)

Even with the mattes from last year that Christine didn’t quite enjoy, those were actually more expensive that all but a few of our previous shades. We’re actually in the middle of tweaking that batch from everyone’s feedback.

Bottom line: we do our best to listen to feedback and we don’t let the money influence formulas.

Thanks for listening 🙂

I’m usually not a fan of matte blushes, but some beautiful colors here, and I can always pop them on top of a shimmery cream base to make them more sparkly. But since this is MUG, I won’t buy without swatches and reviews first. Hope these score better than their matte shadows

I got soulmate in my may boxycharm and I love it! Its so buttery and pigmented. Thier shadows are OK. I bought the Manny MUA palette and they tend to fade off (yes, I always use primer). I’m happy I got it because they are beautiful colors, but I wouldn’t invest in any singles. I rather get the ones from MAC and get a Z Palette. I got off topic, sorry! LOL

Cat Avatar

Can you hear me kicking myself for not purchasing the two blushes I wanted when they were still made with the original formula????? AAAAHHHH!!!!!!!!

I really, really hope these don’t turn out like the reformulated eyeshadows. Sigh…

Ali Avatar

wait didn’t they only a year or two come out with an entire range of powder blushes that people loved? seems unnecessary to me? “if it ain’t broke…”? but i’ve never tried them so i don’t know!

I cannot WAIT to see the swatches! I have many of the old ones and to be honest, I prefer them over my MAC blushes (my fave is Infatuation). I already have a few of the new blushes on my shopping cart, just waiting on your swatches/reviews Christine!
