Makeup Geek Blushes Reformulation & New Shades
Gorgeous blushes.
I’m so nervous the new formula won’t be as good as the old one, since it’s one of my favorites. I think I’ll wait to hear some other people’s reviews first!
Feeling exactly the same here……..ಥ_ಥ
I’m so nervous too! The new formula of the matte shadows is a stinker, and I hope that’s not the case with the new blushes. The original blush formula was amazing. I hope this is just as good. I wish sometimes companies would leave good products alone. If it’s not broke, don’t fix it.
My sentiments exactly: Not broken, do NOT fix!
I was like, “OH, NO!!!!! Not the blush, too!! Please, don’t ruin the blush!” 😮
I’m really hesitant to try Makeup Geek products as of late (following the packaging problems, the sparklers, and the generally low reviews on shadows) buuuut some of these are calling my name! Fingers crossed for some good reviews on XOXO, Spellbound, and Covet.
I got XOXO in my boxycharm last month. Color is beautiful, packaging is fantastic. Haven’t had a chance to wear it yet, but I will tomorrow! I have plenty of the old formula, so I’m excited to see how they measure up.
Is it the same formula as their contour powders? I noticed the contour powders are a lot softer than the old blush formula. I might pick a shade or two up!
I thought the blush formula was already really good. I wonder why they reformulated it.
Same thoughts here. Hoping these are just as good
But the formula was already perfect (in my opinion anyway (Í â‰– ÍœÊ–Í â‰–)? ) did they reformulate it for budgeting purposes?? hmmm….
I have 8 of the old ones and they are wonderful!! I’m not really sure they needed a reformulation, they were well received and not old!
Hope this isn’t a case of not broken, so why fix it? Have to admit to suspecting mug of cutting corners to cut costs, not to mention rush to market, before it’s ready…….
Yep, all that you wrote, I suspect.?
Hi — Nick from Makeup Geek here 😉
While the original formula was really great, some people thought it powdered out a bit. So with the shades that remained, we wanted to tighten that up. Also, while working on the contours, we got a good powder formula that has a more creamy feel, so we wanted to take a step up in that regard too.
We’ve never made a formula change due to budgetary reasons. This formula is actually more expensive to make than the previous formula. If there’s a line that is significantly more expensive to make, we simple charge more for it (like the Foiled Eyeshadows)
Even with the mattes from last year that Christine didn’t quite enjoy, those were actually more expensive that all but a few of our previous shades. We’re actually in the middle of tweaking that batch from everyone’s feedback.
Bottom line: we do our best to listen to feedback and we don’t let the money influence formulas.
Thanks for listening 🙂
I don’t see Smitten !
Some beautiful blushes, if only the CAD $ wasn’t doing so poor right now.
Um, I have a really bad feeling about this “reformulation”. I suppose we will just have to sit tight and wait to see. ?
I received one in my Boxy charm last month. It was really nice.
I feel sad that I still haven’t tried any Makeup Geek items! I always hear about how amazing they are (and they look amazing from the tutorials I’ve seen, as well). Love that they’re talc free!
They look really lovely and there is sure to be something there for everyone.
I’m usually not a fan of matte blushes, but some beautiful colors here, and I can always pop them on top of a shimmery cream base to make them more sparkly. But since this is MUG, I won’t buy without swatches and reviews first. Hope these score better than their matte shadows
Shade wise, some really interesting possibilities here. I loved the old formula; could see nothing wrong with it or fathom any need for improvement. I thought the blushes were one of MUG’s strong suits.
As already mentioned: these are most definitely a wait see.
More colors than I would ever use but they look pretty.
I got soulmate in my may boxycharm and I love it! Its so buttery and pigmented. Thier shadows are OK. I bought the Manny MUA palette and they tend to fade off (yes, I always use primer). I’m happy I got it because they are beautiful colors, but I wouldn’t invest in any singles. I rather get the ones from MAC and get a Z Palette. I got off topic, sorry! LOL
Can you hear me kicking myself for not purchasing the two blushes I wanted when they were still made with the original formula????? AAAAHHHH!!!!!!!!
I really, really hope these don’t turn out like the reformulated eyeshadows. Sigh…
I really hope the formula will be good on these! I have Romance and Honeymoon from the original launch and I loooove wearing them together. They blend so easily! I’m loving the swatches MUG put up of Soulmate and Desire.
wait didn’t they only a year or two come out with an entire range of powder blushes that people loved? seems unnecessary to me? “if it ain’t broke…”? but i’ve never tried them so i don’t know!
I cannot WAIT to see the swatches! I have many of the old ones and to be honest, I prefer them over my MAC blushes (my fave is Infatuation). I already have a few of the new blushes on my shopping cart, just waiting on your swatches/reviews Christine!
I’ll wait for the reviews before plunging myself into buying these! xo
