5-Minute Makeup: Purples
5-Minute Makeup: Purples
Here is a really quick look I did the other day before I went to have dinner with my family (my grandma is visiting!) 🙂 I’m testing out NARS’ Multiple Tint in Cadaques right now, so yes I will review it, just give me some time to test out the wear!
You will need the following…
- Eyes: NARS Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base (neutral eyeshadow base), MAC Seedy Pearl Eyeshadow (shimmery pinky-purple), MAC Fig. 1 Eyeshadow (eggplant), MAC Hush Eyeshadow (pink-toned highlighter), Make Up For Ever #4L Aqua Eyes (eggplant), MAC Plushlash Mascara (black)
- Face: Make Up For Ever HD Foundation (140), Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder (translucent)
- Cheeks: NARS Cadaques Multiple Tint (flushed raspberry)
- Lips: MAC Sweetie Lipstick (pink), MAC Nymphette Lipglass (peachy-pink)
- Brushes: 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 226 (fluffy crease brush), 219 (pointed crease brush), 116 (dense blush brush)
For eyes, start by applying Smudgeproof as your eyeshadow base all over the eye area with the 249. Using the 239, apply Seedy Pearl eyeshadow all over the lower lid. Lightly blend Fig. 1 eyeshadow in the outer crease and very outer edge of the lid with the 226. Blend Hush eyeshadow with the crease shade and highlight the brow bone . Bring everything together by applying #4L liner on the lower lash line. Finish by sweeping lashes with Plushlash mascara.
For cheeks, apply Cadaques blush on the apples of the cheeks and smooth with fingertips.
For lips, apply Sweetie lipstick first, and then layer Nymphette lipglass for a complementing lip.

I wish I could do makeup that good in 5 minutes! lol My 5 minute makeup is tinted moisturizer, mascara and lip gloss.
It takes some practice… and pressure always helps, lol!
Same, i can barely do e/s in 15!!!
I really love this simple look on you. And I’m so happy you used sweetie its such a sweet pink
Thank you, Diana!
I die for this look!
Aww 😛
awww I just fell in love with that look 😀
Thanks a lot, Marie-Lyne!
Ha! So funny. I opened my browser to find a purple look to wear and accidentally clicked Temptalia… & there it was 😀 Thanks!!
Question: I’m trying to combine purple and blue in one look (purple accents and blue dress — trust me, it looks better than it sounds). What would you do with it, makeupwise? I was thinking purple e/s and blue e/l… sth like this: http://gallery.temptalia.com/pinks-and-purples-from-suite-array
Maybe with some black to darken it (outer third). Putting purple over the blue e/l… would that work as well?
Sorry for all these questions!!
Hey Roxanne!
Yess, I think it would look LOVELY!
Actually, the event I was talking about JUST ended! I was too late too catch your comment but I used a peachy pink, iridescent pink, dark purple & eggplant, with navy liner on the bottom. (I’ve posted a little picture in the website thingy.)
OMG, that’s gorgeous!! I love!
YAY 😀 I used the Crush Metal Pigments!
Good call 🙂
YAY 😀
I totally love it. Simple and neat.
Thank you, Danielle 😀
LOVE IT! I have been looking for a simple look using my untouched fig 1 e/s and this is perfect. Can you suggest a different highlighter though since i own mostly everything else to hightlight? Thanks for the look Christine.
Thank you, Erica! 🙂
You could use really ANY highlighter – seriously – whatever you normally use!
Beautiful, I love a good purple eye!
Me too!
Thanks!
This is so gorgeous!! i love purple and that lip gloss.. but i can never blend good enough.. especially between the eyeshadow and the highlighter! 🙁 but i do want to try this!
Thank you so much, Brittany 🙂
Just keep practicing! Use softer strokes – and always look at it from afar!
This is stunning…
very feminine and pretty.
Love it.
(:
Thank you, Natasha!
Pretty, I love purple!
Thanks a lot, Jennifer!
Sooo love that look!
You know Christine, you’ve been my inspiration for a few weeks now (before as well but back then I didn’t have the courage to even try out your wonderful looks) and I love each and every look on me. I adapt it sometimes to my skin tone but generally they are so universal! Thanks for this one as well!
Just one question: you used Seedy pearl on your whole upper lid as a base right?
Thanks a lot, Kasiaj! 🙂
I used it just on the lid part – not above the crease.
Thanks! now I get it 🙂 it’s such a lovely color I might actually buy it ASAP 🙂
Love it! Very soft and elegant. 🙂
Thank you, Maggie!
This looks great on you! Your great at blending, I am so crappy at it though, still learning haha.
Aw, thanks a lot, Amy 😀 Keep practicing!
I noticed your tank top always matches the dominant color for your eye creations. Is that how you get your color inspirations? 🙂
Actually, I usually do my makeup first, then pick a top, haha!
I love this one! is perfect 😀 and the lips are sooo cool!
Thanks a lot, Adriana!
Soft and pretty!!
Thank you, Michelle!
This is definitely one of my favorites from you, Christine! Great work!
Wow! Thanks, Michou!
That look is fantastic! We have the Nars tint in Turks/Caicos and we love it! The pink really suits your cheeks to perfection. Thank you once again for another amazing post.
Thanks so much! 🙂
Gorgeous! I love purples! 🙂
Thank you, Anita 😀
I absolutely adore this look!
Thank ya, Vanessa!
This is so pretty! Simple, it may be, but it looks amazing on you!
Thank you, Lyndsay! 🙂
Sooo pretty, Christine!
You make purples look so wearable. 😀
Thanks a lot, Judith!
Pretty !
Thanks, Bernice!
This is the kind of look I tend to wear everyday, and yes, it takes me 5 minutes too xD Those aqua eyes are so tempting…I love the colours!
Yay! 🙂 Thanks, Athena!
This is stunning, I love purple!
Thanks a lot, Anna!
This is such a pretty look…I like this 5 minute make-up thing. Looking fwd for neutrals and all colors in this series…:)

Oh I love this! I’m a purple eyeshadow junkie. I just can’t stop! 😉
Yay! So glad you like it, Michelle! What are your favorite purple shadows?
UGH I WISH YOU COULD DO MY MAKEUP. i loveee this look!
AWW 😛 Thank you, Joanna!
This is nice and simple. You look good in purples! Definitely a good five minute look.
Thank you, Trisha 😀
This is really nice! I’m really thinking I need those colours now^^
I love this look on you, you look great!
Thanks a lot, Stephniie! 🙂
Beautiful!! I love to see looks like this, that aren’t related to any one release, but are permanent products! I have Seedy Pearl, and love it a lot, and think it needs more love!! It’s a great look!
Thank you, Mariah! 🙂 Thank goodness for a lil’ time off between collections then!
so pretty! i really like the way this looks on you (purple with brown eyes is one of my favorite combos – i just love brunettes in general – lol!) 🙂
Yay! Thank you, Dusty 😀
I love this look. It is so simple and pretty! And took only 5 minutes? Wow!
Thank you, Dao! Yup!
absolutely gorgeous, Christine – I love uncomplicated looks!
Thanks a lot, Dianna!
I love how natural the NARS Multiple Tint looks! Can’t wait to hear your take on it. 🙂
Thanks, Erin! Will try to review it soon 🙂
Very pretty! I don’t have Seedy Pearl or Fig. 1, but I’d try this look w/ similar MAC shadows.
Thanks a lot, Carrie! 🙂 What do you think you’ll try it with?
As a violet fiend, I LOVE this. It’s simple-but-gorgeous looks like this one that make me super-jealous of your double lids!! Just stunning.
Hope you’re having a nice visit with your grandma 🙂
Yay! Thank you, Rae 🙂
I did! Will be back up for Father’s Day to see everyone again.
😀
You succeeded in only using two eyeshadows! I also like this look, its sweet and soft. 🙂
Thanks, LNU! Success!
Absolutely gorgeous! Personally I love purple on you!!!
Thanks a lot, KY!
Soft, simple and undeniably pretty! And only 2 eyeshadows – not counting highlighter! I’m going to try this tomorrow! (but with Mystical Mist because I don’t have Fig.1)
Love the glossy pink lip combo too!
Thanks so much, CeeBee! Highlighter shouldn’t count, LOL! I would be so sad if it did.
Purples look good on me so i might give this combo a try. I find other colors like greens and blues work better on you.
I definitely like greens on me more than purples 🙂
Beautiful! The color scheme suits you so well 🙂
Thank you so much, Mai-Huong!
Love that the lid is nearly nude with most of the color on the crease. My clients tend to think that they need a color on the lid and then a darker shade for the crease. They’re afraid to mix it up and experiment. I really love all these tutorials you and other artists post. It shows the world its okay to play with colors.
Thank you, Jeni!
this is my favorite look you’ve ever done.
Thanks, Liz!
I have tried the Nars Multiples. Not suitable for anyone above NC40. Also, Have you tried the Nars Pro Prime products?
Yes, I’ve tried the eyeshadow base and the smoother (though not a full testing, since it has a lot of silicone in it ).
Beautiful!! 🙂
Aw, thanks, Rinny!
Oooh this is really pretty!
I’m interested to see what you think of the NARS Multiple Tints. I find that it lasts all day on my skin! A little sticky for a while, but eventually it sets and will NOT budge. 😀
Thank you, Nicole!
Will review soon 🙂
Love it!
Thanks a lot, Jasmine!
haha you finally used just 2 eyeshadows! (not including highlighter) look great good job!
I know, right? 😀 Pressure helps!
christine, I really, REALLY like this 🙂 good job
Thank you, Brenda!
very pretty…purple looks good on you
Thank you, Chibu!
I have seen many swatches of cadaques but here it looks like you are hardly wearing any blush at all! did you not apply enough LOL. I am more interested in Turks and caicos but I am not sure how that will look like on my NC30 skin
The Multiple Tints are pretty sheer, IMO. I couldn’t get much more color than what is shown here, TBH!
THis look is so beautiful! Christine would you say that Fig 1 is comparable to Mac’s Sketch? Or do I need to own both?
Thank you, Diana! Sketch is a bit redder, less purple, so they are different, but you could do this look with Sketch for sure!
totally love it!!! I can’t believe that I don’t have fig 1.
Thank you, Iliang!
What a beautiful look. Classic, classy and it would everybody I know. Beautiful lips too. Very well put together Christine. I am going to copy this one fo sho! 🙂
Thanks a lot, Hilana 🙂
I love purple and this is a very subtle way to wear it but… what about, sometimes, showing us a more evening-style look? I mean, something more gothic, ie: black, violet and other bold colour? I would really like to see you with this kind of styl! I am curious! 😀
Do you have a picture of what you’re talking about? I’m having trouble visualizing what you mean 🙂
ooh i love this look!! :- )
Would Plum Dressing work as a dupe for the Fig. 1 eyeshadow?
Thank you, Leea!
very pretty! 🙂
Thank you!
This look is beautiful and you looks stunning – I’d love to try it out for a casual night out!
Thanks a lot, Dini!
aww u look so beautiful and feminine with that look! I love it!
Thank you, Jannette!
Such a pretty look! I actually just bought Nymphette lipglass about 3 days ago and I am loving it!
Thanks, Jessica! Nymphette is a classic.
Wow this looks incredible on you! Sooo pretty! It’s sweet, romantic, and did I say pretty? I love it! You look great
Thank you, Teresa!
LOVELY!!! I’m copying this look in its entirety. Thank you for a fresh take on purples (which I seem to collect for hopes of accentuating the green in my eyes) This is great!
Aww, yay!! Hope it works!
Beautiful!!
Thanks, Valerie!
omg i wish i looked this good in 5 mins!
Thanks, Abby!
Christine, can you please do a Mardi Gras look? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Thanks for the suggestion!
So gorgeous. You look like an angel!:) Sadly it takes me more than 5 mins to put foundation alone on , not to mention eyeshadows.
Thanks, Svetlana!
Gorgeous!
