Summer Makeup: Day at the Beach
Summer Makeup: Day at the Beach
There’s something about this look that reminds me of the beach, yet it’s not exactly beach colors. Oh, well! I wonder if it’s totally obvious that I love me some chartreuse green… Happy Monday!
You will need the following…
- Eyes: NARS Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base (neutral eyeshadow base), MAC Sour Lemon Eyeshadow (chatreuse), MAC Samoa Silk Eyeshadow (peach), MAC Vibrant Grape Eyeshadow (red-toned purple), MAC Orb Eyeshadow (matte highlighter), MAC Femme-fi Eyeshadow (shimmery highlighter), Urban Decay Flipside 24/7 Liner (teal), MAC Plushlash Mascara (black)
- Face: Make Up For Ever HD Foundation (140), Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder (translucent)
- Cheeks: Benefit Sugarbomb Powder (pinky-peach)
- Lips: MAC Capricious Lipstick (muted purple-plum), MAC Springbean Lustreglass (sheer green-gold)
- Brushes: 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 226 (fluffy crease brush), 219 (pointed crease brush), 116 (dense blush brush)
- Substitutes:
For eyes, start by applying Smudgeproof as your eyeshadow base all over the eye area with the 249. Using the 239, apply Sour Lemon eyeshadow on the lower lid. Lightly blend Samoa Silk eyeshadow from the lower crease to above the crease with the 239. Next, apply Vibrant Grape eyeshadow into the crease with the 226. Blend Orb eyeshadow with the crease shade and highlight the brow bone, then lightly tap Femme-fi eyeshadow right beneath the brow for shimmer. Bring everything together by applying Flipside liner on the lower lash line. Finish by sweeping lashes with Plushlash mascara.
For cheeks, apply Sugarbomb blush on the apples of the cheeks and sweep upwards towards the temple with the 116.
For lips, apply Capricious lipstick first, and then layer Springbean lustreglass for a complementing lip.

TUTORIAL!!! =)
It’s coming 🙂
Great! =)
Thanks!
This is so beautiful! Bright colors look great on you, Christine 🙂 I was just wondering, do you keep eyeshadow/blush/brush/etc descriptions in a file separately so you dont have to keep typing them & you can just copy and paste? or do you just do it off the top of your head and just type it out?
Thanks a lot, Ali!
I only keep a few things on file – like I have a basic outline for my look posts, but I don’t keep records or track of the color descriptions of most products.
i like chartreuse too 😉 have you ever done a glossy eye of any kind for one of these looks? just curious – when i think of summertime, for some reason i think of a glossy eye… i do a version of it that’s fairly wearable (dark brown and a LITTLE bit of sparkly gloss). it can look pretty actually.
I’ve only done a glossy black eye, but it felt pretty heavy! What do you use for the glossy part?
For a neutral, pretty glossy eye I actually using Aveda products. The gloss I use is their Lip Glaze in “Mango Juice.” It’s a very pretty lipgloss – But not as sticky as MAC’s Lipglass. I use a cream bronzer on the lid and a bronzy/brown/goldish color in the crease. It’s one of those looks that’s REALLY quick to put together.
Hmm, will have to look into it! Thanks 😉
your reviews and swatches are your strong points.
I’m glad you like those, Rae!
What’s the point of such a backhanded compliment?
Your reviews and swatches, as well as your look posts are your strong points!
Thanks, Jody 🙂
Hi. It was just a coincidence but I was just looking through Sugarpill cosmetics and now you juz posted a look where all their colors are used in it. Wicked look btw. Love the natural juicy lips look.
I didn’t use any Sugarpill products in this look…
Thank you!
I love this look! I really need to go and purchase Vibrant Grape! I keep going to MAC and buying all different shades of purple (purple eyeshadow is my favorite!) but i keep forgetting vibrant grape 🙁 haha
Thanks a lot, Gabrielle 🙂
MAC has a lot of purples, haha! Surprisingly many.
I bought Fig. 1 and its a deeper, pretty purple that looks great with browns. Definitely get it if you don’t already 🙂
Fig.1 is pretty 🙂
That looks F***ING awesome!! I love the pop of teal on the lower line! Tres bien tres bien! I would definitly rock this look myself!
Thank you, Shannon!! 🙂
This is so great for summer! and the lips are so pretty! Tutorial definetly for this christine 🙂 BTW, your eye color/the pattern in your eyes is soo unique. really havent seen anything like it!
Thanks so much, Catherine! 😀 I owe my eye color to my grandma <3
very pretty! You always look so good in greens
Thanks a lot, Lindsay!
Sour Lemon is really a nice bright yellow shade. Gotta check it out.
Very nice EOTD…. I have always liked such combination of colors of yellow-pink-peach.
It’s a great shade 🙂
Thank you, Vonvon!
OMG LOVE
Yay!!
Very pretty. 🙂 Funny how Flipside looks all green on you instead of teal tough…
Thank you, Anita! Hmm, might be the green shadow on top of it!
Beautiful. Chartreuse colors look great on you so go for it. I love the overall matte effect of the look.
Thanks so much, Tina 🙂
Chartreuse is such an awesome color. I love anything in that color! This is beautiful. LOVE.
And I like that you used springbean.
this is such a happy look!
Thanks a lot, Jody! So glad you liked it!
Aww, this is adorable, Christine! I love it 😀 Sour Lemon looks absolutely awesome on you.
Thank you, Rae 😀
Yay! I’ve said this before but I love when you play with color placement on your lids! 😀
Its easier for me to see looks on myself when you place the colors differently, especially since you’re so comfortable going bold which I just can’t pull off for everyday!
Thanks a lot, LNU!
This makeup inspired me! Tomorrow is the first game of Brazil on World Cup and I’ll use something like your eyes on this post.
Aww!
I hope you like it!
Beautiful look! Absolutely stunning! Though I can’t pull this off and I probably wouldn’t put yellow under the lash line, I think everything on the lid is just beautiful. ^^
Thank you!
Call me crazy or just patriotic – but this is a very Aussie Aussie Aussie OI OI OI! kinda look – the green and gold. You can tell I’ve been watching a lot of the World Cup… 🙂
Sure, let’s go with that 😉 LOL!
We watched about five minutes of the end of one of the U.S. games. Not so much a soccer fam over here!
This is such an awesome and unexpected color combo! I really love it!
Yay! Thank you, Ashley!
what other brands have yellow eyeshadow ? I would prefer for it to not be matte , because I kinda hate the texture of matte eyeshadows
MAC Bright Sunshine is pretty sunshine-y yellow and it has more of a frosty look.
Fun and funky.. Very fashion forward!
Thanks, Allison!
i love how u take risks in the e/s looks that you do, ive definetly tried to be more confident and do more colerful e/s looks thanks to you!! i recently picked up mac firecracker e/s and i wouldve never looked at it if i hadnt seen ur awesome tutorials using it. thanks!!!
Thanks so much 😀 Glad you’ve been trying new looks!
It’s like a sunset at the beach! Or like, a beach towel, laying out in the hot sun. Let’s just say it’s an Abstract Impressionist version of the beach! 😀
Haha!
Thank you, Mariah!
this picture really shows what i’ve always thought. your irises look like a spooky forest with creepy trees that wrap around your pupils. in a really good way of course lol.
LOL!
Thank you, Jennifer!
ur skin look great!=)
Thanks, Anna!
Girrrrrl, I’m loving all of these crazy awesome summer combinations you’re doing. I can’t wait to try them. Thanks for the ideas!!
Thanks a lot, Elle!
It’s crazy how samoa silk looks super orange on me and it’s this beautiful peach color on you. (yes, i’m pale.) I would have loved to have seen motif in the inner tear duct area! Great look nonetheless 🙂
Thank you! 🙂
babez..i wonder why dont you use a liner..it will bring more definition to ur makeup look..
It causes a reaction on my eye/lash line where it itches, then waters, and then sometimes burns. If I try to wear it for too long, sometimes my eyelids/lash line well and dry out.
You look really great in these colours Christine!
Not a look I would try for myself because I think this tends to look good only on the very young and should not be attempted by anyone over the age of 30.
Smashing. Love it! 🙂
Thank you so much! 🙂
This is fun!! I’m not sure why, but it reminds me of a friend that races Superbike LOL!! Maybe the bright yellows/greens and pinky oranges.
LOL!
Thanks, Brenda!
cute, but I never wear mate colors!!!
Thank you, Luisafer! Mix it up with some shimmers 😉
Wow, this is such an awesome look! You’re so brave to wear it outside!
Thank you, Dao 🙂 Years of practice make it easy, LOL!
