For spring, there are 18 new shades of Makeup Geek Eyeshadows ($6.00 for 0.064 oz.) that have been added to the permanent range. Two (Casino and Sin City) were released in a palette previously. Below, please see swatches! I intend to review these as soon as I can.

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! No surprise, the shimmers fare better than the mattes. Rebel..it could be so cool and I wonder if primer could kick this up a notch. It’s a very unusual shadow. I like toxic and pillow talk, but they look more dupeable. Brownie Points and Fiend zone could be uhmazing transition/crease colours, but the swatches disappoint. One of my all time favourite crease shadow is MUG: Barcelona Beach.

Shoulda been fiend zone, y/y. Agree on Barcelona Beach. Rebel: what’s the concept? Haven’t looked at email, so haven’t seen what MUG says. Very interesting shade. I can see Rebel maybe putting an offbeat touch on En Taupe…def going for that one first. The lighter mattes are a tad better than the darker ones. This is all consistent with what we have come to expect from MUG. The one thing that is consistent about MUG is their inconsistencies. Plow on!

Cant wait to hear your thoughts on these! I am eyeing venom, anarchy, casino. Rebel looks interesting! On the fence with tiki hut and tuscan sun.

Venom – my weakness colour so I’m hoping I’ll have dupes – Friend Zone and Brownie Points all caught my eye, though some of the swatches don’t look so nice – dry and patchy. Rebel looks SO interesting. Talk about a unique shade!

There are some really pretty shades here. I’m liking Anarchy, Venom, Pillow Talk, Chitchat, Toxic, and Tuscan Sun. I’m trying to decide if I like Rebel though….
Those last few matte shades though…. look pretty bad swatched.

Some shades look really good, but some look like they need some help. I am interested in Venom, Pillow Talk, Hot Pants, and maybe Tuscan Sun. Wild West was one of the colors I was most interested in, but it looks awfully powdery. I don’t understand what is going on with a lot of the newer matte shades from MUG.

I watched the launch video for these and decided to wait on ordering – it looked like she was really pressing into the pan and after the first time, she still had to go back in for some more and do another swatch on top of it. When she showed the camera, it still looked semi opaque and dusty ( pretty much the same as the swatches shown here). They are pretty colors though – I hope the pigmentation issues get fixed.

So, I have Pillow Talk, Chit Chat and Rebel. Pillow Talk goes on beautifully and is such a gorgeous lavender/silver. Chit chat goes on okay, but doesn’t look that bright once it’s actually on the eyelid. Rebel looks beautiful in the pan and the idea of it is great, but it does NOT do well over bare skin OR over primer. It’s so unfortunate. I applied it to my eyelids and the gold settled in random places as opposed to being even on my lid. Boo.

With the exception of Rebel, the shimmer shades look great (loving Sin City, Venom, Pillow Talk) but the mattes look terrible, yikes! Chit Chat looks like a must buy -hard to find that color

As of now I still plan on getting Tiki Hut and Sin City. Though I’m curious for potential dupes to Fashion Addict, it reminds me of Mac Vibrant Grape which I have.
Look forward to your review as always Christine!

Im pretty much done with MUG. Not trying to start an argument on your blog, Christine…but I feel like Marlena is not an honest person.Although I do like the blushes and eyeshadows I have, I feel like I just cant support a company where a CEO doesnt act like a CEO

I can’t say I disagree. Flew a little close to the sun, while livin’ the dream, to mix metaphors. There has been some significant rush to market issues and poor quality control, not to mention lack of transparency. But the blushes are superb, overall. I haven’t mugged since last summer.

Hmm, on my phone Tuscan Sun looks an AWFUL lot like Coastal Scents’ Tuscany… (Well, if I’m honest, I only found and bought CS after looking for an alternative to MUG lol.) Tiki Hut also reminds me of CS’ Coconut Husk when swatched. It’s not like there can’t be any similarities across brands, I just happened to notice. It might look different on PC/Mac too. 😛

Venom and chit chat are the only two that I can forsee spending my money on. I’m really not quite sure what has happened to the quality of her shadows. A couple of years ago I was on a mission to buy them all and I have about sixty or so, but I’ve since stopped collecting them. The quality has really gone down the drain. She has also made some questionable business decisions, when I used to feel like she was down to earth and honest. I love the ones I have and use them often, but I just feel like there are far superior shadows even in this price range (i.e. inglot, MAC and colour pop)
