Hmm, I was already planning to get the Hourglass strobe highlighter Brilliant at next Sephora sale, but curious if these are better….. eyeing Daylight, a soft gold
I’m curious to know the same thing. I was thinking of getting the Hourglass Incandescent powder (since it’s the one I love from the trio, though I’ve read they are different but can’t really see a diff. when I swatch ’em side by side in-store). I have such a grudge against Hourglass since that Holiday Palette Ripoff but Lorac isn’t available in Canada. What’s a gal to do except content herself with Becca? (vbg)
I ended buying 2 of them moonlight & starlight. They are different from hourglass. Hourglass has this subtle natural quality. Some of them are so subtle it didn’t really give a glow. I don’t like strong see you from a mile away highlight but I definitely want a glow on my face. These are more traditional highlighters similar to the new Urban Decay highlighters. Starlight is a very pretty pale light gold it’s not white like I was hoping. I was hoping it would be similar to Becca pearl but it has a slight golden tone. Starlight is a very pretty light pink pearl. Daylight is a warmer gold and darker than UD sin. These highlighters are really nice, soft and blend really nice. The formula is similar to the blushes. When I blended out Starlight it looked so beautiful on my face it just created this natural radiance. I’m not sure if they would be comparable to hourglass because I don’t know what your preference is and what end result you’re looking for. For me I would choose these over hourglass simply because of price and the amount of product you get. If you use a very light hand and blend it out you can create the same natural highlight.
Oh Trina, thanks so much for the comparison! I like my highighters subtle, but do like a little more shimmer once in a while, think I will hold off on the Hourglass one until I check out the Lorac one. That Starlight sounds great–I have some cool yellow undertones, and like light pale gold highlighters, but they can be hard to find, as most run warm gold . Very helpful info! Hope I don’t end up with both LOL
Your welcome, glad to try and help. I think you will like the starlight one. Another really nice very affordable brand is Makeup Revolution from ulta. They make these really nice blush palettes that come with highlighters and blush together. They also sell individual highlighters and make one palette specifically that mimic the hourglass ambient powders it’s called the Beyond Radiance palette. I am such a highlighter junkie I can’t help myself lol. So maybe if you buy a few inexpensive items it will make up for it high-end ones. At least that’s my theory to try and justify my severe make up buying problem. Good luck hope you find something you like.
Definitely worth a look-see at Ulta next time I pop in there! I need to sometime before Friday to claim the March BDay perk. A mascara, I believe.
