YSL Rouge Volupte Shine Oil-in-Stick Lipstick

Made with 65% oils, the deeply hydrating texture instantly melts into lips providing a pop of color, instant hydration, and all day comfort. After 4 weeks, lips look healthy and more nourished. 6 oils for 6 benefits: hydration, high shine, comfort, ultra-melting, luminosity, and smoothness. With the addicting signature YSL mango scent, these lipsticks are good enough to eat. Now in 12 brand new shades, from modern neutrals, playful pinks and intense berries, there is a Rouge Volupte Shine for every moment.

Antioxidants in natural extracts of pomegranate and rosemary reduce the look of fine lines, while candellila resin forms a thin, protective layer to help lock in moisture and magnify color and shine. Mineral pigments provide bright, vibrant color and a melting formula (instead of a solid stick) enabling smoother glide-on application and an ultrafine lightweight film on lips. Hyaluronic acid spheres hydrate and soften lips to help seal in moisture for up to eight hours of hydration.

Yep, matte lips have their place……but sheerer, healthy looking lips are always welcome in my lip wardrobe :). I gotta admit, I am getting tired of liquid lipsticks.

Jane Avatar

These are neither healthy or glossy. Oily-watery uneven finish dries down in 20 min and you are left with unevenly tinted, dry lips. Really healthy, moisturizing and slightly glossy are either Chantecaille lip Chics and Mac Huggable formulas. Not perfect, but still very good Estee Lauder Shine lipsticks and RBR sheer lipsticks and tinted balms.

Aw, boo for the price increase but yay for this launch. Also, has YSL ever called the scent that comes with these mango? I didn’t know that. I’ve always thought it smelled like honeydew melon!

Whew! For a minute I was afraid these might be replacing the regular Rouge Volupte Shines, of which No. 19, Fuchsia in Rage, is the only lipstick I’ve ever used up and re-purchased, it’s so flattering on me + easy to wear… assuming they’re not a replacement, they do sound interesting, the kind of light formula I like to wear in summer, and some gorgeous colors. I hope you get a chance to review these, Christine!

Jen Avatar

Hello Fran,
They’re not a replacement, they will be an extension to the ones that are already available, And rest assured, your #19 (which is the most gorgeous on the packaging considering that the ring on the outside looks more purple and complements the gold perfectly) is not going anywhere 😉 *at least for the time being, you know our brand is famous for constantly updating the color and product selection to keep up to date with the latest trends *

Oooooooooh. I don’t really care about longevity, but my lips are quite prone to drying out or getting irritated by lipsticks… so I adore the whole family of YSL Rouge Volupte offerings. Can’t wait to try one of these.

Omg! This would be heaven for my chapped lips right now! Travelling via 5 planes and then arriving home to frigid temps and snow all week has sucked the life out of them.
Hmm. Could be a hit or miss. I’m hoping these do really well.

Would love to see the swatches and read your reviews. The shades are so pretty; and ysl has hardly ever disappointed me in the lipstick section. Looking forward to rose rive gauche and beige blouse. Am not a drying matte person( though the comfortable mattes are fine- the ysl mattes are really superb ); but am glad some easy on the lips lippies are finally making an entrance this season. Am getting bored with the all matte craze going on. My lips really need some tlc.

Joy Avatar

Hi Arpita. Many non matte lippies have been around this season Every Season. These are not first. You are always able to choose away from trends if this style makes you lip most happy. Other YSL non matte versions continue selling no need for trend. Chosen Preferred. Comfortabke lipsticks reign. These are fab. Totes recommend. The most matte YSL still is dimension not flat. If you enjoyed them Why keep hurting lips? 🙁

I purchased Smoking Plum. The color is beautiful, it feels great – but it doesn’t last. For the price, it should stay on longer than a couple of hours. Even though it has a lot of positives, the biggie is that it doesn’t stay on, so I’m returning it.

Cat Avatar

So… I had to pull out a YSL lipstick and smell it! LOL Yes, it IS mango! I’ve always had difficulty describing the scent. Now I know! I was going to purchase another YSL lipstick a few months ago but now I’m glad I held off. I’m interested in how these perform and how hydrating they are — or aren’t.

Marta G. Avatar

So these are similar to the original sheer formula, but just much more hydrating? That sounds great. I’ve got a couple of the Rouge Volupte Shines and I really love the effortless, healthy look you can achieve with them, so I might give these a go!

Trish Avatar

I’m not sure I’m buying into the “after 4 weeks lips look healthy and more nourished” idea. As someone who has chronic dry lips I’d rather not add any fragrance or color to my lips non stop! At $37 ea that’s pricey for these. I’ll wait for your review Christine!

Will you be posting swatches of these new YSL Rouge Volupte Shines Oil in Stick? Waiting for them to pop up on Sephora and then place an online order but would love to swatches ahead of time!
