.

I use LiQWD Volumizing Shampoo & Volumizing Conditioner. I always seem to use in sets…

Yup. Pantene Shampoo and Conditioner – not from the same line though (Pantene Smooth and Pantene Moisture Renewal respectively).

Although I hardly use conditioner – my hair is virgin (no dye or much ironing) and it’s healthy without it.

Mora Avatar

acutally i use Nivea Volume Sensation Shampoo, Conditioner and blow-drying spray.

i found out, that this combination works perfect for my hair.

before i often mixed brands.

Eliza Avatar

I use the same brand! Because i’m OCD & need 2 same bottles looking cute together. HAHA i have John Freida Frizz ease as well as organix(they smell amazing!) I have the mango one. yummms!

deepblue Avatar

Sometimes 😉 But most of the times I always use different brands because I always see new products I want to test and conditioner lasts longer than shampoo and so I have many condtioner bottles and not so much shampoo bottles. Actually I use LUSH “Big” Shampoo – it’s really great. And as condtioner Body Shop “Banana”.

Anna Avatar

Right now, I do. I use Fekkai’s Full Volume, but it’s only because I got it as a set. After using some 80% of it, I start to notice a little more volume, so apparently, it’s working.

Ophelia Avatar

I usually use try to switch around-right now I am in rotation with Lush’s Seanik (shampoo) & Aveeno (shampoo) and between Lush’s Jungle (solid conditioner) & Aussie’s 3 min miracle

Grace Avatar

Yes I do use them from the same brand. I’m currently using Lush Godiva Shampoo bar and Lush American Cream conditioner. It’s absolutely beautiful together.

Charlotte Avatar

Redken All Soft is so good! I wish they did even bigger bottles of the shampoo though because I often use that twice and you only get 50ml more

Joan Avatar

I usually use a matching set of shampoo and conditioner. Reasons:
1) I figure the formulas are meant to complement each other.
2) The bottles look nice together.
3) They go on sale at the same time.

Suuz Avatar

Right now I’m using Tigi Bedhead Dumb Blonde shampoo and Self Absorbed conditioner.
With some Chi silk infusion to keep the hair shiny and frizz-free.
(As I tend to be a big poofy ball of frizz)
In general I tend to pair up on the same brand, but on occasion I’ll use one brand’s shampoo and another brand’s conditioner if either one in the combination doesn’t suit me.

Not always, I like to use the products that give me the best looking and feeling hair. The only “set” I tend to use is Redkens Smooth Down, and almost only everytime I have to go out with straightned hair! Once in a while I use a shampoo that strips my hair, I do have dry hair, but when using a lot of silk drops and stuff like that, I just feel that I have to get it cleansed propably.

amelia Avatar

never. i use dove intense damage therapy conditioner or phyto herbal moisture conditioner (the only two that work well enough for me) and any shampoo. i like lush shampoo bars or kerastase shampoo.

Catherine Avatar

Nope. I use Head & Shoulders Sensitive Scalp Shampoo in order to keep my dandruff under control but I like to switch up my conditioner (my hair’s pretty healthy but it needs a little extra help if I’m working indoors with air conditioning/heating a lot). I’m currently using Aveda’s Rosemary & Mint conditioner but I really want to try Essential’s orange one next (Japanese drugstore).

condesa Avatar

NO, even if I buy sets (same shampoo & conditioner) I combine different brands to see what results I get! for example Nivea straight & shine works wonders with Joico Kpak reconstructor (but I bet every shampoo would work wonders w/ Kpak), much better than say, the expensive Terax or Kerastase. Even if I buy and use the set together, conditioners always last longer so you need to use up w/ other shampoos!

Gyudy Avatar

I always use shampoo and conditioner from the same brand, and often from the same line. Now I’m using John Frieda’s Frizz-ease Straight Ahead 😉

Sarah Avatar

I mix it up – am using Dumb Blonde by TIGI I think for shampoo and I can’t remember my conditioner brand but it comes from the salon. I don’t really like it so I have also been rotating in American Cream from Lush and Aussie 3 minute miracle.

Nik Avatar

I like Aveda, which has nice results, but my man hated it and told me my hair smelled like a hippy! (And we have a joking war on who has more hippy status 🙂 We may tie because we both aren’t hippy but have nice hippy acquaintances) Grrrr, trying to figure when I can use that awesome stuff! Might have to give it away {:(

Anitacska Avatar

Yes, I use L’Oreal Elvive shampoo and conditioner, and anti-frizz serum. It’s not always the same kind, I find that it hardly make s a difference exactly which I use, but it’s always L’Oreal Elvive. Been using them for over 10 years now.

AgnesONutter Avatar

Sometimes. I like the Syoss Shine combination, though generally I do tend to default to Soak ‘n’ Float from Lush which works great on my seborrhoea and whatever conditioner the rest of my family are using (though I LOVE the banana one from Bodyshop).

Amber Avatar

No – i am all over the place! i’m such a product junkie and love to try everything new! Right now, I am using Nexxus Dualiste conditioner for color treated hair that needs moisture and Pantene Red Expressions shampoo

Frances Avatar

All my shampoos and conditioners are by the same brand. I use Kerastase Bain Satin 3, Bain Age-Recharge, the Age-Recharge Masque and Ciment Anti-Usure. Plus a couple of styling products. My hair was rebonded (Japanese straightening), so while it doesn’t need any styling, it needs good products.

Kelly Avatar

I have indian, thick, wavy hair and I find that my hair gets “used to” a shampoo pretty quick, so I have 3 different shampoo conditioner sets that I use during the week. When my hair feels dry, I use Loreal Everpure Strong Shamp./Cond.(Love that line!), when my hair is normal, (behaving) I use Pantene Volume Shamp. and Pantene Beautiful Lengths Cond. Styling product builds up fast making my color dull, so then I clarify using Lush Big Shamp. and Lush American Cream Cond. Does anyone else have to rotate their hair products like this?

Natalia Avatar

yes yes yes…i switch shampoos around but always use the corresponding conditioner. Right now i’m rotating Aveda Smooth Infusion and John Freida Brilliant Brunette bc the Aveda is so darn expensive!

Salvinia Avatar

Yeah, I use Yes To Carrots, which is the only brand I’ve ever liked enough to stick with for as long as I have (nearly two years). Even when I was switching brands I always preferred to match my shampoo and conditioner, since I don’t like to mix the scents of my hair products.

Sarah Avatar

I do most of the time.
I use S Factor shampoo and conditioner normally. and will use s factor deep conditioner weekly.
but I like to mix it up every once and a while with paul mitchell shampoo/conditioner/deep conditioner
and sometimes fredrick fekkai.
hahah, I go crazy for hair products!

Trina Avatar

I use the same brand usually. Rught now I’m using Lush’s BIG and Lush’s Veganese. This is the first time ever I think that I have repurchased the shampoo/conditioner products. They are fantastic together.

megs Avatar

i use what ever i need for the day , it maybe aveda smooth infusion for a smooth day and redken blonding conditioner i mix whatever my need is for the moment

Kelly Avatar

I always try to use a set, they just seem to compliment each other. Right now it’s Bed Head’s Dumb Blonde because it smells DELICIOUS!

Jody Avatar

Lately I’ve been using Head & Shoulders Shampoo (I know… shoot me), and Pantene Restoratives conditioner … My hair is curly and crazy so as long as I have a good conditioner I’m pretty much good to go.

Nina Avatar

Nope. As I read somewhere, shampoo should match your sclp type, and conditioner is to match your hair type. So I opt for Vichy shampoo and a L’Oreal mask (which I use insteadof conditioner)

Hell Notes For Beauty Avatar

I used to but since I switched to sulfate free shampoos like Hair One and Dr. Bronner’s castile soaps basically making my own shampoos, I don’t necessarily use them in pairs anymore. I do have a deep conditioner/conditioner combo both made by Nacidt, a carribean dominican product.

Joanna Avatar

I use Pureology Hydrate shampoo and conditioner.

It’s the only combination that makes my extra thick and randomly wavy hair manageable.

Shelby Avatar

I use Redken All Soft Shampoo and Conditioner because they are the best Shampoo and Conditioner I have ever used on my hair! I’ve been using them for a few years. I used to not use the same Shampoo and Conditioner, because I was always on the search for my HG, but it so happened that the best Shampoo and conditioner for my hair were from the same brand. 🙂

kara vitacca Avatar

nope! I use aveda color conserve shampoo and aussie 3 minute miracle conditioner because my hair is thick and hard to keep hydrated so deep conditioner is a must every time I wash it!

JEN Avatar

I actually switch out my shampoo/conditioner sets between Bumble and Bumble’s quenching line and Bumble and Bumble’s Gentle Shampoo/Super Rich Conditioner. I have to say my hair is in the best condition ever!

Alexis Avatar

I always do that too. I seem to always use the coordinating bumble shampoo/conditioner even though I discovered that the Terax conditioner works a lot better on me!

Tiffany Avatar

I use Lush Seanik or Big Shampoo but Yes to Carrots’ Conditioner. I have lots of shampoos and conditioners in rotation but that’s my favorite combo.

American Cream is a nice conditioner as well

kfm Avatar

I never end up using the same kind, unless I get them as a gift or freebie. I generally use Lush “Cynthia Sylvia Stout” as a shampoo, which I absolutely love. Unfortunately, I never find that Lush conditioners do much for my hair and I need a good conditioner. (I actually condition every day, but only shampoo every second.)

I switch conditioners fairly often. Currently using a Tre-Semme one that’s cheap but actually works really well. Love Aveda stuff, but it’s out of my way to go pick it up, so I rarely end up going.

dana Avatar

i usually do..i use tigi superstar shampoo and conditioner and joico body luxe or K-PAK shampoo and cond. when it feels dry. im a hair stylist and reading pantene in the comments is like a knife in my heart!

Tango Avatar

I cheat: technically I use both Suave shampoo and conditioner (Hello! I am a mega-cheapskate!) but I use their professionals line so I’m actually mixing their Nexus moisturizing shampoo with their Aveda lightweight conditioner. The moisturizing shampoo does a great job of cleansing but not stripping, but following with a heavy-duty conditioner would weigh my hair down too much.

Carrie Avatar

I love a few different shampoo/conditioner duos. If I really want my hair to look good, I’ll use Fekkai’s Glossing shampoo & conditioner. I also use Origins’ Knot Free (smells wonderful), Jonathan Product’s shampoos & conditioners for frizz because they’re all-natural, and Pantene’s. I always use the conditioner that goes w/ the shampoo, except when I deep condition. I also use the styling products from Fekkai and Jonathan Product. They’re fantastic.

Lia Avatar

No, but only because I have wicked bad dandruff! I use either Head&Shoulders or JASON dandruff shampoo and Kiss my Face Whenever conditioner (smells great and covers up the smell of the shampoo!). I get a ton of complements on my hair which is great because it is such bad shape, must be working.

igswonderworld Avatar

yes and no. I use Frederic Fekkai products but I rotate between the Color, Full Volume and recently the Ironless lines of shampoo and conditioner. They never dull my hair – it always ends up being voluminous and shiny.

Annie S Avatar

hey christine, I absolutely love these temptalia asks you sections… but would you have any interest in doing a follow up post commenting on the different opinions and your overall outlook? because i’d love to know the different opinions and it would be easier than going through all of the products

shuz4ever Avatar

Yes, 90% of the time…but as my conditioners last much longer than shampoo, i usually end up with several diff brands…so i rotate to reduce container clutter. I also switch b/w brands during the week. Currently i’m using:
Lush I love Juicy Shampoo & Lush Veganese Conditioner (my fav)
Body Shop Banana Shampoo & Banana Conditioner
Body Shop Ginger AD shampoo & John Freida BrilliantBrunette Conditioner
