I’m not sure what relevance my skin tone/colouring has to moisturizers and lip balm, so instead I will say that I have very sensitive combo skin on my face, and very dry eczema prone skin on my body. The best lip balm for me is the body shop hemp lip balm. I don’t love the smell but it works like nothing else. The best face moisturizer is Kim Somerville Goat Milk. The best body moisturizer is Cerave.
I am similar: sensitive combo facial skin especially the lower lip and eyelids. My body skin is normal ( not too dry or oily) but still eczema prone and sensitive.
Best lip balm: Dr. Bronner’s Organic Magic Lip Balm in Naked
Best facial moisturizer: Citrix SPF 40 for morning, Cerave PM at night
Best body moisturizer: for winter CeraVe moisturizing cream, for summer Olay quench (unscented) mixed with tsubaki oil
Your skin tone/coloring: neutral/light w freckles
Best lip balm: Crazy Rumors
Best face moisturizer: Simple Replenishing Rich Moisturizer
Best body moisturizer: Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream
Your skin tone/coloring: Fair/light, neutral
Best lip balm? Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula with Vitamin E Swivel Stick (only costs around $2 and works like a charm!)
Best face moisturizer? Mario Badescu Cellufirm Moisturizer
Best body moisturizer? Jergens Daily Moisture Fragrance Free if I’m wearing perfume or Boots Extracts Body Butter in Brazil Nut if I’m not wearing perfume
Your skin tone/coloring: Very fair with neutral undertones; red hair; hazel/green eyes.
Best lip balm? I just use drug store. My favorite clear — Blistex Medicated, Burt’s Bees, and eos. Favorite tinted — e.l.f. Lip Kiss Balm and Maybelline Baby Lips.
Best face moisturizer? I have oily skin with bouts of combination. It depends on what my hormones are doing. NuSkin Moisture Restore Day Protective Lotion SPF 15 and Night Supply Nourishing Cream work best for me right now.
Best body moisturizer? NuSkin Epoch Baobab Body Butter. NuSkin Epoch Sole Solution is the only thing I’ve ever used that successfully eliminated my elbow eczema, plus it is great for feet.
Med with yellow undertones
Fave face moisturizer currently is Tatcha Ageless enriching renewal cream.
Fave body moisturizer. I like Curel Ultra Healing. Low on the fragrance so it doesn’t interfere with any fragrance that I may wear and it does the job well whole being inexpensive. The face one is not so inexpensive. Could be worse though.
forgot lip balm! Jack black for me! Overnight I have been using Hourglass lip oil. Its dreamy. But,honestly I think the Bite agave lip mask does just as good.
♥ Your skin tone/coloring:
• Dark to Medium-Deep
• Warm undertone, with a touch of Neutral
• NC44.5 to NC45
♥ Best lip balm?
❝ My must-haves, especially for winter! ❞
• ChapStick Lip Moisturizer with SPF 15
• Vaseline Jelly in COCOA BUTTER or ROSY LIPS
♥ Best face moisturizer?
❝ For oily skin like mine… ❞
• Secret Key SNAIL + EGF Repairing Cream
• Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Oil-Free Lotion
• Philosophy ‘Take A Deep Breath’ SPF 30 Oil-Free Oxygen Moisturizer
• Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil
♥ Best body moisturizer?
❝ To keep my ‘Ashy Larry’ alter-ego skin at bay ?, I love… ❞
• Lubriderm Advanced Therapy Lotion for Extra Dry Skin
• Jergens Shea Butter Deep Conditioning Moisturizer
• (Between 92% to 100%) Aloe Vera Gel
• 100% Glycerin (I use it only during the summer. I use Africare, but any brand will do.)
Your skin tone/coloring: Porcelain
Best lip balm? Yu-Be lip therapy, Fresh sugar lip treatment.
Best face moisturizer? LUSH celestial.
Best body moisturizer? Curel ultra healing.
Best lip balm? Anything that contains a lot of shea butter. I like to use the small tin of pure shea butter sold by L’Occitane as a lip balm!
Best face moisturizer? I can’t pick one, my skin changes throughout the seasons and a moisturizer that’s perfect in the summer might not work at all in the winter. One of the moisturizers that impressed me most is Peter Thomas Roth Neuroliquid Volufill, but it’s already been discontinued (although the serum is still around).
Best body moisturizer? I like the moisturizers in spray form that have been launched in the past few years, they make moisturizing really fast and convenient. If I need intense nourishment I turn to Eucerin or Amlactin.
Your skin tone/coloring: very fair, neutral undertones, freckly, red hair
Best lip balm? CeraVe Healing Ointment
Best face moisturizer? Cheryl Lee MD True Lipids Ceramide+ Cream works miracles on me.
Best body moisturizer? Cetaphil cream! Nice and rich.
Your skin tone/coloring: NW20, medium fair with pink tones
Best lip balm? Dior Addict lip reviver. I’m on my 3rd tube
Best face moisturizer? Eucerin day or night. So simple and reliable. Also Clinique Moisture Surge
Best body moisturizer? Coconut oil!
Clinique moisture surge is one of my faves too!
Your skin tone/coloring: Fair/light with pink undertones
Best lip balm? Bite Beauty Agave Mask or EOS Lip Balm
Best face moisturizer? Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream
Best body moisturizer? Philosophy Fresh Cream Lotion or L’Occitane Shea Butter Ultra Rich Body Cream
*Carmex SPF15 -don’t know if this is the best, but I like it a lot, been using for years. I must have SPF on my lips or they burn super fast, so I have tubes everywhere, and these are hydrating and cheap
*Best face moisturizer -don’t know if this is the best, but I really like Belief True Moisturizing Bomb Cream (the white color cream, not the blue one)
*Best Body moisturizer – Jergens Shea Butter Deep Conditioning lotion (cheap, works great, probably on my 10th bottle)
How fitting that I was just putting together a December/January beauty favourites’ list for my blog 🙂
Your skin tone/coloring: light-medium, yellow/olive undertones (I use UD Naked foundation in 4.0 and MUFE HD in 123 right now when there literally is no sun)
Best lip balm? Nivea Lip Butters hands down.
Best face moisturizer? I currently use Paula’s Choice Skin Balancing serum (non-aqueous) and it’s really good, especially in wintertime.
Best body moisturizer? I am loving Lumene’s Cranberry Nourishing Body Cream for winter. Love the mild fragrance & nourishing thick formula!
Bear in mind: my skin is oily year round and I live in the subarctic where it’s currently -36 C or colder so a lot of times I will just put on the serum when I go out – everything that contains water will freeze my face right off, but my natural oils are often enough protection. the good thing about my current skincare regimen is that I dont seem to need to change it much, just modify during extreme weather.
Oh, wow! Good tip on the non-aqueous for winter. Never really thought it contributed, but of course it does!
Yup! Serums and oils alllll the way. 🙂
Your skin tone/coloring: Pale (but not fair) with cool undertones
Best lip balm? I usually use basic Chapstick, but I like Badger Balm too.
Best face moisturizer? CeraVe! The AM is the best SPF formulation I’ve tried, and I’m obsessed with how light and gel-like the PM one is.
Best body moisturizer? Nourish Organic body butter. It’s all of the oils we love (shea butter, coconut oil, olive oil) with really earthy, fresh (not overly sweet) scents. I have a Burt’s Bees lotion for when I don’t have time to work with a body butter.
Your skin tone/coloring: Fairest neutral. Using Too Faced Born This Way Foundation in Snow along with my trusty Barry M Foundation Crème in 1 (white). Better matches include the Koh Gen Do Maifanshi Moisture Foundation in 001 and Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation in 00 Alabaster. I just like experimenting with my base products. ?
Best lip balm? Definitely Rouge Bunny Rouge Kiss Elixir balm. It’s thick, super moisturising, creates a good barrier and has a gorgeous warm vanilla scent. Similar to my beloved Rodial Glam Balm in the tub, but better! Best applied generously before bed. ?
Best face moisturizer? I’m still looking but for the time being its the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Oil Free Gel Cream. It’s very light, which is good for my oily, acne-prone skin.
Best body moisturizer? Again, I’ve not found my holy grail body moisturiser but at the moment I’m all about quickness so I use an in-shower moisturiser. One of the ones you apply then rinse off. It saves me applying anything afterwards plus there’s no waiting around for your moisturiser to sink in so you can get dressed. The one I’m using just now is the Nivea In Shower Body Moisturiser. If you have very dry skin I don’t imagine that it would work for you but for normal skin it should be hydrating enough.
Skin tone: light- nw15/20
Skin type: dry to normal, but prone to hormonal acne
Best lip balm: I’m a lip balm junkie- tried Dior, La Mer, all the way down to Carmex and Chapstick. But, my fave at the moment is the Korres lip butter (the one in the pot) in Jasmine- it’s the only one that has ever truly worked for me!
Best face moisturizer: I have dry skin, prone to breakouts, so I have to be careful! I use Clinique moisture surge gel (it’s pink and in a pot) as a base moisturizer and then I layer Charlotte Tilbury’s a Magic Cream on it for day or Clinique moisture surge overnight mask at night. I also love Dr. Perricone’s Face Finishing moisturizer.
Best body moisturizer: I use a body oil right out if the shower (Neutrogena Rainbath or Herbivore Jasmine glow) and then I layer a thicker cream on top (Josie Maran body butter in unscented or the Body Shop body butters).
Skin tone: very fair, porcelain
Lip balm: Burt’s bees
Face Moisturiser: Daytime: QV Daily Moisturiser with SPF 20. Night time: Elizabeth Arden’s Ceramide capsules, with Cetaphil Moisture Cream
Body Moisturiser: Natio Body Butters
Your skin tone/coloring: between fair and light; cool undertones with warm features
Best lip balm? I like different lip balms for different purposes. I like the Fresh Sugar colorless balm under lipstick; the Palmers cocoa butter swivel stick for applying throughout the day if I’m home all day; at night, I like to put on a bit of the First Aid Beauty lip treatment, then the Bite Beauty Agave lip mask over it. I like lip balms from Jack Black and Silk Naturals, too.
Best face moisturizer? For day, First Aid Beauty Ultra Face Moisturizer; at night, the CeraVe nighttime moisturizer in summer and Paula’s Choice ulta-rich moisturizer plus hyaluronic acid booster in winter.
Best body moisturizer? Paula’s Choice 10% AHA body lotion for exfoliation and CeraVe in the big tub for moisturization.
I should mention that I use all-mineral sunscreen over my daytime moisturizer after it’s thoroughly absorbed, and that I mix it (the daytime moisturizer) with 2 drops of Paula’s Choice Vitamin C booster, and, in winter, one drop of the hyaluronic acid booster. Chemical sunscreens should always be applied first, before other skincare products, because they have to react chemically with your skin, but the order of application doesn’t matter with mineral sunscreens.
Skin Tone/Coloring: Light skin tone with golden undertones (NC20)
Best Lip Balm: Bobbi Brown Lip Balm in Silver Tin
Best Face Moisturizer: Kiehl’s Super Multi-Corrective Cream
Best Body Moisturizer: First Aid Beauty, Ultra Repair Cream
Your skin tone/coloring: NC-30/35 (medium with olive undertones)
Best lip balm? I’m a diehard Burt’s Bees fan, but I admit their balm tastes awful, so for a better-tasting alternative I like the eos ones!
Best face moisturizer? Clinique Moisture Surge Intense. CeraVe is nice too since it has sunscreen in it!
Best body moisturizer? Cetaphil
Your skin tone/coloring: NC15 (also as this is a skincare one, I have dry & dehydrated skin with a touch of rosacea, which puts me in the “sensitive” category as well if I want to keep it in check)
Best lip balm: For everyday, Burt’s Bees, for when you need some extra moisture, Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm.
Best face moisturizer: I’ve recently converted to First Aid Beauty’s Ultra Repair Cream, and I think I’m going to look into some of their face-specific ones, though this one is working great for my face at the moment.
Best body moisturizer: The Body’s Shop’s Body Butter (I prefer the Shea one) is my go-to, but I may start using the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream as well when my last tub from The Body Shop is gone. I’m just so impressed with the Ultra Repair Cream!
Your skin tone/coloring: fair, cool-toned
Best lip balm? Jack Black, Bite Agave Lip Mask
Best face moisturizer? Just one??? Oh…probably Eucerin Q10
Best body moisturizer? Really and truly, infrared hot yoga! I’ve always had dry, flaking skin on my body and especially my legs but when I was practising hot yoga regularly, I was able to go through 2 or 3 Canadian winters with little to no body lotion, which was amazing. This year, as I’ve not been practising much, I’m all flaky and dry again and, despite using body lotions galore, the insides of my black clothes, tights, etc. are covered in “body dandruff”. I have to get back to yoga! Some of the body moisturizers I love are The Body Shop Shea Body Butter, the old and discontinued Olay Quench Body CREAM (I have half a jar left!), Kiehl’s Creme de Corps (but I really think it’s overpriced for what it is) and Soap and Glory’s Body Butter and Body Butter “Lite”. I also like a Sephora body cream “supreme” that I think has been discontinued, unfortunately.
Coloring just might be relevant, because certain colorings may be more prone to certain issues. It’s all hard-wired, after all. Thank your DNA. Light to medium, coolish, aging and oily. Moisturizers are straight Paula. Balm is not, nor did it turn out to be Jack Black, when I developed allergy to chemical sunscreen, which is almost mandatory in a good balm. So, still using up old Korres lip butters. Looking forward to googling ingredients in everyone’s recs.
Your skin tone/coloring: NC20
Best lip balm? Nuxe Reve de Miel
Best face moisturizer? Avene Hydrance Optimale Legere in the AM and Hydrance Optimale Riche at night
Best body moisturizer? Josie Maran Whipped Argan Oil – I just tried this out for the first time a few months ago and I’m obsessed. The texture is out of this world!
Your skin tone/coloring: Fair / Pink undertones
I wish the answers to these questions were as simple as they once were. I miss the days when I could use the same products every day and night without giving it much thought. However, at some point between age forty and forty-five, my skin developed multi-personality disorder. :-/
Best lip balm? Under lipstick – a thin layer of Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask. Summer nights – Reve de Miel Lip Balm. Winter nights and those rare occasions when I’m actually exposed to the sun – Jack Black (I have a JB lip balm of my very own now! No more sneaking to use the one I bought my husband! LOL).
Best face moisturizer? Summer/Day – Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet. Summer/Night – Chanel Hydra Beauty Creme or Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+. Winter/Day or Night – Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+ (or if my skin needs a hero – Caudalie Premier Cru The Cream). Everything above is always used over serums that also vary by season/skin’s needs.
Best body moisturizer? For many years, it used to be Moringa Body Butter from The Body Shop. Then the price went up and the amount per container went down… and I started trying other moisturizers. Currently, I’m using Jergens Original Scent (which reminds me of childhood) to which I’ve added sample packets of various face oils. It’s been working even better (with the added oils) than the Body Butter ever did. (So I suppose I should thank The Body Shop for upping their price!)
Your skin tone/coloring: Fair, dry and sensitive, prone to breakouts.
Best lip balm? Pixi tinted balm, it’s got Shea butter in and is lovely.
Best face moisturizer? I like La Roche Posay’s Toleraine, but am trying out Monu’s firming moisturiser for ‘mature’ skin (I’m 38, I don’t feel mature yet ?), it’s got marine collagen in and I’m enjoying using it. I also love L’Occitane’s Divine cream, it’s lush.
Best body moisturizer? Rituals Honey Dream body cream, it’s rich and smells gorgeous. I also like using Cowshed’s body lotions when I’m in a rush as they smell good and absorb easily. My favourite’s Knackered Cow (that’s how I feel most days, lol).
Claire I was trying to find Rituals Honey Dream body cream.. I found one that says Honey touch. Could it be that one?
Oh yes, it’s Honey Touch, not Honey Dream, lol! Have you tried it?
Dry skin; dark blonde hair

Favorite lip balm: CARMEX I cannot live without it. My lips are freakishly dry but I love matte finish lipsticks. Carmex is the savior for my lips.
Best face moisturizer: Paula’s Choice Hydralight daily with SPF15. Super soft, hydrating without feeling greasy, and it makes my skin feel like velvet and not a dried oily mess.
Best body moisturizer: Bath & Body Works Shea lotions. I usually add a few drops of apricot oil (or whatever body oil I’ve recently bought from Whole Foods) for extra moisture.

Best lip balm: Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip balm!

Best lip balm: Dior creme de rose
Best face moisturizer: Biotherm aquasource cocoon ultra comfort balm in gel
