Oooh, I’m so looking forward to reading all the answers to this question!!

My favorite lipstick formula ever is the Laura Mercier Stickglosses. They’ are:
– actually conditioning enough I can wear them without balm underneath
– last a good 4-6hrs on me depending on how much talking/eating/drinking I’m doing
– can be sheer, but they’re also very buildable
– have a light-as-air balm texture that never feathers or bleeds
– come in very, very wearable colors
– soooooo forgiving to liplines, dryness, chapped lips, etc

I have desert dry, ridiculously sensitive, allergic lips and these are my positive HG. I’m about to get my 7th one! I wear Soapalaya Soaps Green Tea Lip Butter under all my lipsticks and Jane Iredale Lip Drink SPF15 over.

After that, the Shu Rouge Unlimiteds are also pretty awesome. They don’t condition my lips but they don’t dry them out either. The Covergirl TruShines are pretty freaking amazing too. They’re almost as nice as the LM and Shu, just wish they had more colors and a slightly smoother finish. Then the Dior Addict High Shines and Jane Iredale PureMoist are tied for wearing ok on my lips but they dry my lips out a little when they dry down. MAC Cremesheens are ok if I have time for maintenance (reapplying balm every hour or so) and MAC Lustres and NYX Rounds are too drying for me.

I love Benefits lipstick formula, aswell as Dior Addict lipstick. Recently i discovered Lancome’s Rouge Absolue, which i totally adore aswell. I’d love to discover a nice lipstick formula from a budget brand someday.

Have you tried the new Maybelline ColorSensational lipsticks? I love them – true color, vey moisturizing, lots of color choices and great price! I highly recommend.

I love the MAC Cremesheen, because they are so moisturizing an perfect for the winter. The YSL Rouge Volupte win second place, cause they are a little bit to creamy and I need a lip pencil to make them stay longer in my lips.

I love the Rouge Allure Laques as well, and it’s all your fault, Christine (but in a good way). I love the way they feel, but I also love the fact that they contain a stain so when they do wear down, there is still a layer of color left on your lip.

Second best would probably be Benefit lippies. Smooth and creamy with excellent coverage.

Benefit’s Silky Finish Cream lipsticks are great for blush. The texture is similar to the red gel blush that MAC came out with (Rose Romance collection?) a year or two ago. Love ’em for that 🙂

YSL Rouge Volupte 🙂 I read about it first on your blog, and since I trust your taste big time I tried it in Caress Pink, and now I own five colors, and will probably get the sixth soon.
I love the creaminess of the formula and the intense color payoff. Its just so gorgeous.

I also love the Rouge G De Guerlain formula. They are pretty creamy as well and the colors are just right. The compact mirror included is a plus in my book too 🙂 I own three colors of this line if I’m not mistaken.

MAC amplified and Bobbi Brown lipsticks. The color payoff on both is really great and they last quite long while still being comfortable and wearable.

I love Maybelline Moisture Extreme lipsticks. They’re amazing. They smell SO GOOD. They are really creamy and come in so many pretty colors. I honestly prefer it to anything from mac or sephora.

LOVE the Chanel Rogue Allure Laque (thank you, Christine!), MAC lustre lipsticks, Shu Uemura Supreme Shines and most recently fell for Nars (at least the new color, Crusing).

I love lipsticks that are not opaque and and leave my lips at last somewhat glossy so that i don’t feel I have to apply gloss over it. My faves all provide that and leave my lips feeling moisturized which is a big, big plus.

I love the Dior Addict High Shines!!! They are very similar to the MAC slimshines. They go on pretty sheer, but are still shimmery and glossy. It’s great when you’re in a hurry and dont have time to fuss with a gloss. They also keep your lips super-duper moist! Gotta love it!(:

mac lustre. i’ve tried more moisturizing ones like ysl rouge volupte and dior but i find for semi sheer finish, mac lustre last longer on me. must be my lips but the proof is how many mac lustre i’ve purchased and repurchased.

I used to love PX’s Color Scope lippies but with them out of business, my next fave would be MAC’s Lustre formula because they always feel so soft and moisturizing but not too thick like I think the Amplified’s are.

Shu Rouge Unlimited
Shu Rouge Unlimited Creme Matte
honestly, these lipsticks last me for eons on my lips, after drinking, eating 2 meals, a few snacks and lots of talking. they hug your lips and they’re far from drying. the finish is amazing too.

then GA rouge d’armani (these are great too, but they’re not as long lasting as the shu lipsticks)
then MAC amplified cremes.

unlike most people, i HATE MAC lustres…but i love Amplified, Amplified Creme & Cremesheen. Also a big fan of NARS Satin & Semi-Mattes and UD lipsticks.

CeeBee Avatar

Chanel Hydrabase – smooth, creamy, scented gently with tea rose and applies beautifully with a semi-matte satin finish. Rose Drop is an especially beautiful pink…
I like Lancome Color Fever creams and the Fever Shine formula too, but those these ones don’t last as long.

Anna Sui Rouge G is gorgeous too – soft, sheer and glossy and smells like Turkish Delight (yum!)

MAC Amplified. When I am looking for lipsticks, I look for high pigmentation and these definitely delivered. I used to not like Mac Lustres because I wanted more pigmentation but some of my favorite colors are Lustres like Syrup, A Rose Romance, and Viva Glam Gaga.

Diana Avatar

I love Mac Amplified they’re so glossy and pigmented. I picked up a Mac glaze this week from the Riveting collection and they go on very smooth not very pigmented but I like that for when I’m going for a softer look.

aradhana Avatar

i just tried ellis faas in their creamy ellis red (L101)….i love the formula because its light and smooth…doesn’t feel like there’s anything on, it isn’t at all drying…and it’s a beautiful sahde of red!

MAC’s mattes, amplified cream, satin, and SOME creamsheen. I’m not very picky when it comes to lipstick finishes because I can usually make it work but I HATE MAC’s lustre finishes. I look for maximum pigmentation and no glitter or distracting sheen. Lustres don’t last long in my collection because you have to build it up and depending on the lipstick if you wear it as is, it dries out faster than water in a desert. Only reason I have them is because people who I work on prefer them first before immediate amplified color.

mac lustres and amplified cremes. i find that i can build colour with most of the lustres to the level that i want and i don’t have the bleed problems that i do with the cremesheens. the amplied cremes just have such great colour payoff- great for when you want your lips to make a statement.

MAC’s lipsticks hands down including the longwear pro ones that have the gloss on the end that you can refill. The MAC longwear pro lipsticks definitely stay on all day WITHOUT cracking or peeling and coming off.

While MAC’s normal lipsticks all feel good even their Matte lipsticks. MAC’s lipsticks feel thin and lightweight, which is what I like and they have no taste of any kind; they just smell slightly vanilla-like for just 2 seconds and then that smell fades away.

Almost ten years ago I had a problem with almost all of MAC’s lipsticks except for the Frost lipsticks where my lips would sting and the skin on them would peel off but after they most obviously changed their lipstick formulations, that lipstick allergy I had doesn’t happen anymore and thank goodness for that!
