Dunno? I have combo dry skin and I have remained true to my Clinique Dramatically Different for as long as I have been using moisturizer. I am very happy with it so I really couldn’t tell you which is the worst.
All of them? 🙂
OMG! Philosophy’s Hope in a Jar! Not only did it reek of wet dog smell, but it was kind of pricey and did NOTHING for my skin, which was so dried out from winter! Massive FAIL! Philosophy, do you HAVE to go overboard on the lavender scent with EVERYTHING? UGH!
agreed…i used it and got rashes all over my face! FML
I can agree with that. Lavendar can be a skin irritant, especially used to “scent” facial products. I have very sensitive skin so I have to be on the lookout for stuff like this.
The worst moisturizers for dry skin are Jergens Cherry Almond lotion and Olay Quench! Oh and baby oil! They have absolutely no moisturizing content whatsoever!
I HATE the foul smell of the original Eucerin!!! It makes me want to shower again if I put it on!
Funny, considering Kelly’s answer- I was going to say Clinique’s Dramatically Different! It’s generally to light for dry skin, and too heavy for oily. The main ingredient (aside from water) is mineral oil. While mineral oil is not deserving of the bad rap it gets, it’s also an incredibly inexpensive ingredient- Certainly not ‘”dramatically different” and definitely not worth $24 for 4oz. With a bit of label reading, you could get essentially the same product in bulk quantity for a few dollars at a drugstore.
I’m currently using Avon’s Wintersoft lotion and it’s rubbish. My skin isn’t that dry, and it sort of moisturises it when I put it on, but the next day after a shower my skin is just as dry as it was before.
I know you didn’t ask about the best one, but I swear by Palmer’s Cocoa Butter moisturisers, they are fab! (Why am I bothering with this Avon one then?! :S)
I HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE Lancome’s Hydra Zen… I’m sorry, I paid a lot for it, but it’s TERRIBLE. It makes my skin not moisturized but OILY. I will continue buying my Dramatically Different from Clinique.
anything by Jergens. Their lotions and moisturizers are all fair too watery to do anything useful.
Kiss My Face Peaches & Creme with AHA for face and neck.
I’m dry, and I was hoping this would be awesome for me. I’ve gotten dryer.
AHA creams actually tend to be better for oily skin, since the primary benefit they have is that they encourage exfoliation. You’d be better off trying something with a shea butter base if you just want moisture.
I was just thinking for one when I read Mandy’s response and it reminded me that Philosophy’s Hope in a Jar did NOTHING for my dry skin!!!! And here I thought I was the only one!
Clinique DDML. Doesn’t penetrate the skin at all.
I have dry skin, and most moisturizer that claim to be for dry skin often contain irritating ingredients. So hard.
obviously anything oil free or gel based… even if you have acne with dry skin, it really helps to have something with oil in it. it helped my acne. as far as products, i can’t really tell.
110% agree with the people above who said Philosophy Hope In A Jar!!! That stuff was very expensive, smelt HORRIBLE (think fish+herbs… ew, I know!), AND did nothing for my dry skin (very light)! How Oprah can praise this product so much, I’ll never know! One of the most over-hyped products ever!
Clinique DDML does nothing for me. I wanted to like Neutrogena but I just couldn’t. My best friend swears by it though…
I didn’t like Hope in a Jar either. It was so greasy and I hated the smell. I have combination/sensitive skin and Lancome and Clinique irritates my skin. Recently, I tried the Olay Total Effects Night Cream. It broke me out, it was so disgusting. My acne were having babies. It was so gross.
the yellow crap clinique sells. dramatically blah blah blah. i hate that stuff.
Clinique Dramatically Different Lotion or the Gel, Gel because im acne prone, like another reader said it basically sat on the top of my skin and 10 min later my face was tight.
I was going to try Philosophy Hope In the Jar for Sensative Skin, but i just read it here as a hit, plus i been hesitant since its in a jar, ew i prefer a pump instead of possibly getting bacteria in the jar.
I use MAC’s Studio Moisture Fix now , cuz the MA said that it had some time release and while it does moisturize… it smells like a wet rag on ur face ALL day…
search continues :/
It’s really strange, but a few years ago I would have said Clinique DD was the BEST moisturizer. Fast forward to now and it’s a total 180. I’ve been switching cleansers and moisturizers like crazy since I’ve been having issues with irritation, sudden hyperpigmentation and dehydration. So far these brands have been total FAILS for me: Clinique DD/moisture surge, Origins perfect day/have a nice day, Philosophy hope in a jar (BOO! horrible over-hyped crap), Kiehls ultra (nice at first, broke me out later), Neutrogena sensitive skin…whew and this doesn’t even include my so-sos and goods.
I know people are probably gonna disagree with me but I think Victoria’s Secret lotions are the worst because of the high alcohol content in it. I use to wear it because they just smelled so good but it really made my dry skin worst and itchy.
A good face lotion for dry skin that really made a difference for me is the Orlane skin care line. It’s really expensive but worth it 🙂
I have tried so so so many moisturizers, and have yet to come across anything that makes a difference for my skin. I have skin that is very dry with blemishes. An oil free day time moisturizer by Boscia was reccomended to me by a Sephora salesperson, but sadly, I HATED it. I tried a moisturizer by YSL, it wasn’t bad, it was actually the best I have used, but it wasn’t amazing, especially the price tag. I tried a moisturizer by Benefit and hated it. I am using a moisturizer from Sephora by a brand called First Aid Beauty. It’s an intense moisutrizing cream, but does absolutely nothing for me. I wish it did ) : maybe I just have extra dry skin or something. I don’t know. I’m thinking of trying LUSH’s skin drink moisturizer and Baby Face cleanser. Maybe that will help me.
Has anybody tried Lush’s Skin Drink or Baby Face?
