Valentine's Day Makeup: Pinks & Purples
Valentine’s Day Makeup: Pinks & Purples
I’m just popping in to share with you this quick pink look I was playing around with this morning before I took a shower. (Yes, I totally will put on a full face of makeup, only to wash it all off right after!) Sorry if it’s felt like I’ve been a bit MIA this weekend… really trying to put in the full energy and effort to study for my midterms, which has always been a challenge ever since I’ve really started to get into the blog. ‘Cause trust me, I’d so much rather be writing or preparing posts for you all than reading about bonds and utility theory!
You will need the following…
- Eyes: MAC Soft Ochre Paint Pot (neutral beige base), MAC Stacked 1! Pigment (light purple), MAC Da Bling Eyeshadow (medium pink), MAC Bruised Plum Eyeshadow (soft gray mauve), MAC Lala Eyeshadow (dark pink), MAC Black Tulip Eyeshadow (dark purple), MAC Femme-fi Eyeshadow (neutral highlighter), Urban Decay Lust 24/7 Liner (purple), MAC Plushlash Mascara (black)
- Face: Korres Tinted Moisturizer (#2)
- Cheeks: MAC Azalea Blossom Blush Ombre (pinky purple)
- Lips: MAC Victorian Lipstick (bright pink with gold sheen), MAC Hush, Hush Rose Lipglass (medium-dark pink)
- Brushes: 226 (fluffy crease brush), 219 (pointed crease brush), 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 116 (dense blush brush)
- Substitutes: Stacked 1! Pigment = Kitschmas; Bruised Plum = Shale; Lala = Fuchsia Pigment (or Romping eyeshadow, which was LE!); Black Tulip = Nocturnelle
For eyes, start by applying Soft Ochre paint pot as your eyeshadow base all over the eye area with the 249. With the 239 and water-based mixing medium (or water), apply the light purple pigment all over the lid area. Using the 239, apply Da Bling eyeshadow on the inner third of the eyelid. Next, apply Bruised Plum eyeshadow on the middle third of the eyelid and lightly blend with the inner corner. Darken the outer third of the lid with Lala eyeshadow with the 239, gently brushing it into the lower crease. Lightly blend Black Tulip eyeshadow, with the 239, on the outer corner and lid. Lightly tap and brush Da Bling eyeshadow directly above the crease to soften. To finish the eyeshadow look, sweep Femme-fi eyeshadow as a highlighter on the brow bone. Bring everything together by applying Lust eyeliner on the lower lash line and sweeping lashes with Plushlash mascara.
For cheeks, apply Azalea Blossom blush to the apples of the cheeks and sweep upwards towards the temple with the 116.
For lips, apply Victorian lipstick first, and then layer Hush, Hush Rose lipglass for a complementing lip.
Christine you look gorgeous! Which brushes do you recommend to use when working with pigments?
Thanks, Stace! I like the 249 or 239!
christine, just a general request because I can look them up but can you try to list brush type with # for the non-MAC users if you have the extra minute? <3
It’s listed in the post – Brushes: 226 (fluffy crease brush), 219 (pointed crease brush), 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 116 (dense blush brush)
Christine, that is so beautiful!!
Thank you, Samantha!
Hi Christine Gorgeous ! Your Skin looks Amazing great lippy as well love it oxox
Aw, thanks Melinda!
Wow, your skin looks positively radiant. You are so beautiful!
Thanks, Sheila!
Love it! That Azalea Blossom really looks great on you:)
Thank you so much, Tami!
I love this look. I wish you would do a tutorial on you tube doing this look.
Thanks, Michelle!
So springy and pretty! I definitely want to recreate the eyes! I don’t know if I can pull off Victorian lipstick though!
I have a midterm coming up, and let’s just say that my attempts to study this weekend have been complete failures!! Haha.
Thanks, Nicole!
Aww, good luck!
I love this look!!! You look gorgeous!! The Bruised Plum and the Black Tulip are they part of the new Quad? If so I’m gonna have to take a second look at it! Your make up looks fresh and natural with a pop of color. LOL ( that’s the only way I know how to describe it)
Thank you so much, Natasha 🙂
Yep, they are part of the Colour 3 Quad!
The blush ombre looks stunning! And your lips are always so complimenting!
Thank ya, LNU!
wow.. that’s the Korres tinted moisturizer? it looks like a great foundation — you look great as usual!
Thank you, Izzy!
your skin and makeup is gorg! 🙂 I love pinks and purples!
Thank you, Phuong K!
GORGEOUS!!!! I love the colors and the lip combo is to die for! And you are such an inspiration to be able to walk away from the makeup and do homework! I wish I had your strength of will! I’m an animation major, so most of my work is drawing, but I have this senior paper due in 2 days and all I can think about is OTHER things to do besides that! EUGH! I hate papers!!! Lend me some of that determination, will yah? LOL!
Thanks a lot, Mariah!
LOL, aww, papers. I like those way better than exams, at least!
pretty! I should be getting my mac haul on monday or tuesday!
Thanks, Perri!
Enjoy your haul!
Gorgeous!
Thanks, Daphnee!
I love it!!! pink/purple combos are my fave/ I should’ve worn this today…but instead I tried this look: http://www.temptalia.com/all-warmed-up-urban-decay-alice-in-wonderland-bobbi-brown-cabana-corals-look thanks temptalia for all the new look ideas!
Thank you, Ilona!
How do you manage to do such a perfect lower lash line ? I mean it’s so clean and perfect.
Please do a video just about this 😉 I’m always amazed by your technique for that.
I have some YouTube videos that show me lining the lower lash line, so you can check out those for reference 🙂 A reader commented that I line over my lashes, rather than under them.
Super pretty! I like the surprising splash of blue on your lower lid. That’s probably my favorite part.
Thanks, Trisha 🙂
i’m in love with this look!
you did a great job, specially about the eyes 😀
Glad you liked it! Thanks, Adriana!
pretty!! i loove that lip combo,it makes you look so fresh and awake.
Thank you, Jess!
That tinted moisturizer has really good coverage. I need to see if they have it in darker shades. That lippie is pretty on you.
Unfortunately they only have three shades 🙁 Wish they had more!
Stunning Christine, I always love your unexpected pop of color on the bottom lashline/waterline.
Thanks so much, Ana Cristina 🙂
i have a question, maybe a fool question xD
pigments are better than e/s ? or what’s the difference?
They’re different – I like them as bases, but I prefer eyeshadows for everyday use 🙂
Christine, this is LOVELY!!!!! 🙂
Yay! Thanks, Shannon!
This is so beautiful! Which do you think is better to get Ripe Peach or Azalea Blossom blush?
Thanks, Jessica!
Either… it just depends on what you like or what you think you’d wear more often!
Awesome look! do you usually moisturize eyelids before applying paintpots/eye primers?
No, I don’t! I just use whatever facial moisturizer all over my face, including my lids, but that’s typically many hours before I get around to applying makeup 🙂
Pretty! Pink and Purple are two of my favorite colors. Good luck with midterms 🙂
Thank ya, Keke!
Gorgeous look Christine!!! I’m going to try that look sometime soon!
Thanks so uch, Jacquelyn!
you look very beautiful, you’re skin looks amazing!
Aw, thanks, Stephanie!
Your skin looks AMAZING in these photos! The color makeup is beautiful too, but I just can’t get over the skin! I will have to try that Korres TM!
Thanks a lot, Sejal 🙂
Very soft and pretty and I am loving Victorian lipstick. I am going to be good and limit myself to spend only $50 for this collection! It is just all the pink lipsticks and glosses distracting me because I have soft spot for them. I am getting the pink/purple crush pigments for sure.
Thanks, Amy! $50! Wow, you’re being so good 😀
I LOVE this lip on you!! You’re skin looks flawless too!
Thanks, AbbyL!
I love the girly colors! They look gorgeous on you!
Thanks, Crystal!
Christine, do you think you’d ever consider doing the blogging thing as a full-time career instead of going into law? I was just wondering because you’re really good at it and it seems to make you so happy, which is important. Of course, law has that stability factor. I bet you’re one of the lucky hardworking ones who never gets tired and will always be able juggle both! I hope so b/c I’d die if this blog disappeared!
Potentially, but it really just depends on what happens 18 months from now… so much time between now and then. Blogging is definitely one of those unstable paths, so we’ll have to see how things work out 🙂
OMG. As always, you look so PRETTY!! I am soooo getting victorian and Azalea blossom. Now you make me want to buy Hush Hush Rose which was not on my list!
Thanks a lot, Hiromi! 🙂
LOVE, the lips!!!!!!!!
Glad ya liked the lips, Trina!
you look sooo cute!
Thanks, Tiffany!
Is the blush you’re using Azalea Blossom or Ripe Peach? Because the directions box says Ripe Peach while products guide lists Azalea Blossom.
By the way, I’m really loving your lip combo, Christine!
Azalea Blossom 🙂
Thank you!
wow, that lipcolor looks REALLY good on you! That’s a hard color to pull off, too. I’m so jealous….
Aw, thanks, Izzy!
i am so in love with Azalea Blossom Blush Ombre. I was able to get at the launch party. Not only is it a really pretty color, but it is huge! BTW, i really like this look on you. It’s so pretty
Thanks, Audrey! LOL, well, it should be, considering it was $23.50 a pop instead of $18.50 (but it does seem like way more, so yay).
That is a lovely, soft look. Might just give it a try for VDay!
Thanks, Avroys!
the eyes with the pink top are an amazing combo, it looks awesome girl!!
Thank you, Bettina!!
Wow! I really do like lips in this collection!
Yay!!
quite bright but totally wearable! 🙂 i like it 🙂
Thank you, Iliana!
So, so, so pretty! I love the lip combo. 😀 x
Thanks, Sarah 😀
I don’t know how you pull off having no eyeliner on your upper lashline. I feel like I always have to have my fluidline on!
Aww 🙁
Gorgeous look! I’m such a sucker for pink and purple, haha. Oh, I’m also OBSESSED with the lip combo. Just sayin’. :]
Haha ;D
Thanks, Annie! So happy you liked the lips!

I think you can rock it, but try to pair it with warmer shades so it doesn’t look too cool on you 🙂
The gloss would be nice, but probably not a must have!
Love it!!
Thanks, Bella!
I LOVE IT. Ahh!
I’m with you on applying makeup just to remove it…in fact, that’s all I ever do. I put on a bunch of makeup, take pictures, remove it as best as I can, and fall asleep. I’m a night owl! xD
Haha! Glad I am not the only one 🙂
I’m sooo going to try this – even if it means buying all those products. I love a purple eye look. I just hope I can get it right with my eye shape.
