My best friend and I, about 6 or 7 years ago, used to go to EVERY show played by our friend’s band. Main reason was that she had the hots for the drummer, and i had a crush on the guitar player. So, every Friday and Saturday night, we would spend HOURS getting ready to drive out to Long Island (about 3 hours from were we lived in New Jersey) to see the show, and hang out with them all night afterwards. This, incidentally, was how i got my BFF hooked on MAC — before this, she was wearing dollar store black liquid liner and awful red lipstick. Needless to say, now she has a bigger MAC stash than I do. But, I would spend hours doing perfect smokey eyes on her, and then me, then another hour or two on hair and wardrobe…..god, we went all out to impress them. It worked, eventually 🙂
Awww, Courtney!! Sometimes, though, just the process can be so much fun, especially when you have someone to doll up for!
I don’t quite remember a makeup routine to impress anyone. I always loved to dress up and wear makeup everyday when I lived in NYC. Living in the East Bay, things here are more relaxed and naturally I went with the flow; dressing all casual and getting all girly on the weekend.
My craziest makeup routine now is during the month of October; many masquerade parties to attend and of course, never the same costume or makeup. I love it and look forward to it every year!
Things are definitely more relaxed in these parts, lol! I couldn’t handle NYC, it would eat me alive.
I remember, as first-year in college, going to a jazz concert sort-of “with” this hot guy in my chemistry class. I spent so long with my friend putting on makeup that I was late and he went on without me. I ended up sitting next to his weird roommate, who turned out to be much cooler (and less weird than I realized) than the hot guy.
Ah, I remember “more blush! I can’t see it!”
AWW! How funny! At least the guy ended up cooler than you thought 🙂
I once used beige-gold from lash line to crease, then chocolate shadow from middle to outer lid, then mahogany shadow on the outer lid, and then black to line the top lash line, in the crease and a bit moe black on the outermost portion of the outer half of the outer lid. You might think this might not be so crazy…. but then I applied silver as a highlight! I put it on the brow bone, the inner lid, and to blend. Then I applied black liner on the upper and lower lash lines, getting thicker at the outer eye, smudged and smoked out with mahogany shadow. I topped the look off with mascara and penciled my eyebrows to the perfect shade and shape, and put on face powder, a little bronzer to contour the cheeks and a tiny bit of peach blush on the high cheekbones. Then I put on a little red lip stain. I ended up with a silver and brown smokey eye… amazing!! You might think that since I played up every feature on my face that i looked overdone, but I made sure the face and cheeks were very natural, and only so much red lip stain so that it was subtle yet sexy. The whole look was very sophistacted and pretty!
