Aquaphor does wonders!!!
Interesting! May have to try that!
Hi Christine! I have sensitive dry skin, so whenever my skin feels exponentially drier (like on the plane), I like to pile up on L’Occaitane’s Shea Butter Body Lotion. I’ve also tried slathering it on my face when I forgot my face lotion on the plane (I have to reapply lotion on my face on air.) It was gentle enough and didn’t seem to clog my pores. But, exclusively for my face? L’Occaitane’s pure shea butter (the one in the tins) is amazing. Smith’s Rosebud Salve also works wonders.
Hey! I will have to try that – I’m surprised you can use it on your face, though! That’s great to hear, though 🙂
GOlDBOND actually makes two amazinggg lotions; Soothing, and Healing. The soothing has aloe in it, and the healing has shea butter. A large bottle with a pump is about $10 at Wal-mart or somewhere like that. I was a little skeptical buying a drugstore brand at first, but WOW it’s amazing. I have very very dry skin and both work wonders. Check it out!
I’ve never heard of it! Maybe next time I brave Wal-Mart, I will check it out!
just rub your dry area with HONEY (yes I mean what we get from the bees), and leave it for a while, and your skin will turn totally moisturized and soft …..
Hey Taj,After that shud we wash off honey??
Zzainy…
yes, just wash it off ; )
I love hearing DIY recipes 😀
My skin is achingly dry and I have eczema(disappeared for a while now it’s back on my foot:( ). Daily(even in summer) I wash with Olay body wash, put on body oil(neutrogena or equate) then put on Olay Extra Dry lotion. I just recently bought some Kiehl’s hand salve. I know it says hand, but I’m going to see how it does on my feet.
Let us know how Kiehl’s does on your feet, Dee!
Thorough exfoliation with a wash cloth or a microfibre cloth (be careful with these, if I scrub too hard, I am practically raw!), bha to exfoliate from within the skin and then a rich moisturizer (meadowfoam oil in my case, emu or jojoba oil work, too..or just take your night cream). If my skin is really dry, I´ll exfoliate every day.
Copper Peptides can help, too, since they help with a higher cell turnover.
Thanks for the tips, Eva!
hey all 🙂
For my dry skin, first I exfoliate in the shower with a mixture I make of extra virgin olive oil and sugar (yep, ingredients right in your kitchen!)and then I use Hot Six Oil, which can be found in drugstores, and its a mixture of olive, canola, wheat germ, sweet almond, safflower, castor, and sesame oils.
I also shower at night because your body absorbs moisture the most at night
Hey Christine! Thanks for this awesome DIY recipe 😀
cetaphil is amazing stuff. the olay body wash with the creme ribbon is really good too. i will sometimes alternate aveeno sensitive skin in too but after my skin stops feeling ultra soft.
I agree with that, Nadia! I love Cetaphil.
I slather the thick Aquaphor stuff all over on slightly damp skin, which will lock in the moisture. It’ll feel sticky, but afterwards your skin will be baby soft. Since it’s quite hot right now, I use a lighter cream – Cerave’s Moisturizing Cream.
And by the way, does anyone know what to do with red, peeling sunburned skin? I have these huge super red super dry patches on my face which I think is a recurring sunburn. I’ve been acting like a vampire and putting tons of lotion on, but my face is still so red and bumpy!
Hey Steph! I know that I always apply aloe vera to my boyfriend when he gets sunburned, and lots and lots of lotion.
My friend has VERY dry skin, her skin itches and dry skin falls off (like dandruffs) and she said LUSH’s King of Skin is amazing.
True, King of Skin is great 🙂
ok i am the queen of dry skin.no amount of moisturiser helped last winter and i changed my cleanser to cetaphil.omg!i am amazed at the difference.i hav stopped using moisturiser altogether!(ok its summer now but i needed moisturiser regularly in summers too)
most of us tend to lean towards heavier moisturisers when the skin is dry but its actually the cleanser thts the root cause imo.
plus its very mild so it is gud for the skin in the long run! so run and get cetaphil!
lol! Queen of Dry Skin, hail to thee 🙂
Thanks for the tips!
I use a cheap foot cream for everything! Its ingredient list is Aqua, sweet almond oil, glyceryl stearate, sorbitol, some silicone and wax… etc..
This does WONDERS for my feet, but more for my hands and nails. Fixes excema in a day, and really works wonders for me.
Its R20.00 a tub which i think is about 2 dollars 50.
Its called feet first softening foot butter, and no, i dont smell like feet (my bf used to tease me until he tried it, and saw how it worked!)
I go through tons of this stuff, but nothing measures up, drug nor dept store brands. Dunno if you get overseas…
🙂
Oh, wow, very good to hear this, Calico!

P.s. dont use it on my face… still in search of HG face product.
i’m (very) dry head to toe! Sensitive too 🙁
for face, Paula’s Choice Skin Recovery line is amazing! Esp. the Skin Recovery Hydrating Treatment Mask. I use it as night cream, it really balances my skin. I was very dry when I start using this, after several months, it makes me a normal/dry girl! Currently using all the products in Skin Recovery line, except the cleanser. Clinique’s Liquid Facial Soap Extra Mild is much moisturizing 🙂
for body, I love Jergen’s Ultra Healing body lotion 🙂 Jergen’s Age Defying body lotion is enriched with antioxidants so I love that a lot too, but Ultra Healing gives more hydration punch
Thanks for your tips, Pekopon!
