5 Smoldering Cool-Toned Taupe Eyeshadows
The world could always use more cool-toned taupe eyeshadows (that are permanent!), and here are five of my current favorites:
- Make Up For Ever S556 Taupe Gray — a shimmery taupe
- Dior Aventure — a gray-taupe with a frosted finish
- Giorgio Armani Shadow — a cool-toned, purple taupe
- ColourPop Meow — a frosted, purply taupe
- Inglot #434 — a rich, deep taupe with cool undertones
ColourPop Meow is so beautiful to look at…gotta get me some ColourPop cosmetics soon!
You gotta try ’em!
Ooooh – taupes! My favourite shade of all with so many variations. Coincidentally, I just mentioned MUFE Taupe Grey in another discussion here. I also love to bits Inglot 434, though to me, it seems more “purple” than taupe but then maybe that’s what you mean by “cool taupe”. To your list, I would add Benefit Up In Smoke (if they still make it – I’m not sure if it was “axed” when they relaunched their shadows but I fear it was), Nars Lhasa, Cargo Yukon, Sephora’s Be on the A List and the ever elusive Insane Jane from TheBalm.
I think that “cooler” taupes tend to lean gray and/or purple, and then warmer taupes tend to lean brown!
It really can’t be easy for you (I mean this in all sincerity) to categorize so many of these shades. Looking at Dior Aventure, I’d have called it “grey” (mind you, it may well look different in real life vs. in a photo) – all this “warm/cool”, “pink/peach” can get so tricky. I think you do an amazing job of breaking down and classifying/categorizing products.
Sometimes – colors like taupe can be tricky (and any other shade that’s more like a combination of more generic colors), because if they are too cool or too warm, they’re not really a dominant taupe color. There are definitely a fair number I end up categorizing as brown, because I think they’re more brown than gray-leaning (ultimately what makes a brown… a taupe). I think undertones can be harder, especially when colors are sheerer or have a cooler base with warmer shimmer – sometimes the shimmer is strong enough that it makes it seem warmer!
Taaaaauuuupes
More taupes, please.
how about this insanity: a daily post called Taupe of the day! 😀
I have every one of these.. except the Inglot and look at that swatch~ drool~
Haha! 😉
The worst part about taupes are that they’re so lovely yet so many are LE!
I really love de Inglot eye shadow!
It’s gorgeous!
All these cool purple-taupes being released is hurting my wallet. How many do I need? Always one more. and I’m incorporating them into all kinds of looks from super bright, to bold, to neutral (well as neutral as I get haha).
I can never resist a taupe!
I really like the Inglot one! Gorgeous. The ColourPop one is really pretty, too.
Inglot’s is lovely!
I’m pretty sure I need them all!
Never enough taupe!
How do I not own any of these? Crazy. I love the purple-taupe look of Chanel Fauve and UD Bust.
Ooh, you need more! 😀
I have meow! (=^..^=)
Yay!
gorgeous! my favorite is definitely Meow. not only is it pretty watched, it’s also amazing to stare at in the pan.
I totally agree!
Totally had a taupegasm over this post. Cool-toned things ftw! 😀 Looking at all the swatches side by side, however, that Inglot one takes the cake. Probably because it has the most purple in it, with the most pigmentation (to my eye, anyway!).
The Inglot shade is AMAZING!
The MUFE and Colour Pop ones are calling my name. They look nice!
Both are great!
Ha! A post on my favourite colour on my birthday, lucky me! Have you tried Kevyn Aucoin Eye Pigment Primatif in Mistress? It’s a gorgeous cool-toned taupe
Happy birthday, Trish! 🙂
I don’t think I have!
Christine– You should definitely try out Shiro Cosmetics He Loves His Hammer. It’s the most wearable Taupe I own!
Thanks for the suggestion!
I prefer warmer shades, but I do like the look of the Inglot taupe.
It’s a gorgeous shade!
#TaupeThursdays is soon coming up as well.
Haha!
