.07 is TF Lips + Boys, right, so this is at least nearly full size? The fs I have probably says .13, so this is still a HE/LE price. But BITE? HELL, YA! Thank God I have a limited color-like range. This is when rouge free shipping comes in handy..not jacking up the basket to get free shipping, though shipping one little thing seems extravagant. Maybe it’ll be in-store when Nars DIE/S arrives. Marketing, in general, is truly amazing….

Nicole Avatar

I agree. I’ve never used this formula if it already exists?. I like their sticks okay. I bought the set of 4 that was out at Christmas for $25. They are nice. But not exceptional. No way $36 worth. I just am not sure if they are higher quality than. Nars audacious,or Ysl,etc..

Carmen Avatar

Absolutely agree! I mean really, $36? I don’t even think their lippies are such great quality. There are many other brands that are great quality for a lot less.

Jules Avatar

In Canada they’re $40, while the Audacious lipsticks are $37. Boo-urns! I’d be better off buying a full tube of the VIB Rouge lipstick.

Taylor Avatar

This is so stunning, but that price? That’s YSL/Chanel pricing, which would be fine if it were a price increase for a more luxurious formula i.e. Nars Audacious. But it sounds like it’s exactly what you would get at the NYC Lab without the coolness of creating your own custom shade. Plus once you have one you would need them all…..and $36 x 12 is $432 of lipstick. Sigh.

Oooh, this sounds very intriguing……love BITE lip products. Not too crazy about scent in lippies, but freshwater pearl and silk sounds great. January looks like my kind of color. If some of the colors do well, I hope they make them permanent.

Meghan Avatar

They are on sale at Sephora now! Just placed my order… 🙂 I’m very excited! I also used Ebates to get 8% cash back so the $40 – yes forty Canadian dollars!! – doesn’t seem sooo bad (like I said, I’m Canadian but I don’t know if US Ebates is 4% or 8% right now).

Jillian Avatar

Argh! Again with my “low buy” year! And limited edition! I’ve only recently become obsessed with Bite Beauty lipsticks, too… *sigh*

I guess it’ll depend on the uniqueness of the colour for me to get it. Such a brilliant marketing/product idea for Bite Beauty, though!. My birthday is in February, so maybe if I love the colour I’ll treat myself 🙂

Jillian Avatar

Nice! I’m guessing it’ll be some sort of pink, considering a red has been done for January… maybe a hot pink a la Girl About Town? Which is actually a colour I don’t have, so I could maaaaaybe argue this is a “legitimate” purchase, haha. The novelty of the monthly lipstick is pretty cool.

Meghan Avatar

I’m just hoping February’s isn’t too bright ‘violet’ because those kinds of purples don’t look great on me :S haha (does it already sound like I’m committed to buying February’s?… 😉 ). I’d be great with a hot pink too! If you have Instagram check out Bite Beauty, because they were actually showing the January colour on their account beforehand, so we’ll probably get a sneak peak of February’s release before it goes on sale!

Meghan Avatar

What a brilliant marketing scheme… Haha! Bite Beauty kind of did this “limited release” thing with their Matte Lip Crayons & had staggered releases for 2 batches of shades. I think this will (and already has) worked out for them great. Many people will want to buy based on the birthday month (me included – come on February!)! Or just the fact that these are LE products from a fantastic brand. Either way, I’m looking forward to getting mine in the mail, they’re available on Sephora now!

Karen Avatar

I don’t think there’s anyway I could swing this as a monthly expense.

But I am not going to lie… if one of the shades really jumps out at me, I might pick it up.

Can’t wait to see what future months’ lipsticks look like!

Blair Avatar

I just recently got #001 in the mail and I compared scarlet to it. Totally different! The bullet colors look the same but scarlet has a more berry undertone and #001 has a warm red undertone. I was curious myself too.

Francel Avatar

Omgoodness what but they told me(sephora and their online site said there was nothing!) very disappointed and also if you could would you be able to pick me up one I can pay you threw PayPal and of course shipping to me ? If I don’t find it in stores

Jana Avatar

It’s so funny; for the first time in a long while I decided to randomly surf the Sephora community board and stumbled upon news of this limited collection last night. The price feels really steep, as this limited edition piece is 50% more expensive than the usual luminous creme lipsticks, though you do get a bit more product than the YSL Pur Rouge Couture lipsticks (0.13 vs 0.15oz)

The description of this lipstick was a little weird to me “…this lipstick is rich in vitamins… and offers over 20 amino acids, freshwater pearl, and silk…” Does this mean there are literally pearls and silk in this lipstick? If so, why? and If not, this touches upon one of my biggest pet peeves in the beauty industry; inaccurate and over-the-top advertising.

That being said, the lipstick is officially available on Sephora now, and I’m dangerously close to picking up this shade, hahaha. I might allow myself to get it to see if it’s worth the hype for the rest of the year?

Lisa Avatar

I hate to admit it, but I’m intrigued. Mostly because the January shade seems like it might be perfect for me. I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect vampy red for a while. I haven’t had much luck since most shades I’ve found are matte, or end up being too dark or too brown. I’m not willing to pay $36 without seeing swatches first though. Here’s hoping Christine can swatch it before it sells out!

Aditi Avatar

Sigh, and here I thought I was going to be on a low-buy, but this definitely gets the heads up from me! It’s definitely innovative to have a new LE shade each month, and I’m sure these will sell out very quickly.

Erin Avatar

I saw this post and thought “I really shouldn’t buy this but I WANT it! No I NEED it!” and then I went on over to Sephora’s site and saw it was sold out already. I think the universe is looking out for my wallet this month since I spent so much on holiday collections…

kisha Avatar

when a brand mentions “exclusive” and “limited edition” its automatically triggers a beauty collectors brain they MUST HAVE this esp since there’s a limited amount to be sold with a special **cue oohs n aahs** stamp label n shade per month!! I would love to budget $36 a month just to collect these but I know they’ll be some shades I already have soooo no need to start lol. im excited to see what other shades are to come tho!

Tangie Wimberly Avatar

What the heck. I go to work things get a bit hectic and busy and I couldn’t take a break to go on sephora site. And now the lipstick is out of stock. 🙁

Summer Avatar

I just ordered one. Had a gift card from Christmas. I also couldn’t pass up the January birthday gift, the Dior freebie and the samples they’re offering. Incredible marketing ‘ploy’, Bite!

kjh Avatar

Day Job foxed me! Who knew you couldn’t load a Sephora basket from that computer? Lots is restricted, but letting you window shop, load the basket + not pull the plug is PURE EVIL. By the time I got home, it was sold out. Doubt they’ll restock, as this created the kind of frenzy matched only by MAC. To think i succeeded at signing out, driving an hour to a MAC store for Rocky Horror + returning, without anyone being the wiser, and to be foxed by the IT guys (who *&*&) is humiliating + ignominious. Next time, I’ll use someone’s phone…. I’ll resort to the Lipstick Queen dark set! Hope this is great, for all that scored it.

Heather Avatar

Would have bought the first color because I love reds, but apparently it sold out super fast. Hopefully they restock it again sometime this month. =/

cara Avatar

I know I’m a few days behind due to work but sold out already and can’t even see a swatch before it’s gone???? Ugh. Do we know, is this over for the month now- so can no longer buy ?

Summer Avatar

I received my lipstick today. It has a 001 stamped on the sticker – hard to believe this is really #001! I’d rather Bite Beauty provide an actual and true numbered sticker. Oh well; the color is nice and deep, and will be great during these colder months!

Summer Avatar

Argh – I didn’t read thoroughly enough. Looks like the first number on the hand-stamped sticker is the ‘shade’ number. So much for ‘exclusivity’ – I admit fully that the idea sure did make me jump to purchase!
